058 - سورة المجادلة

أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم

I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

قد سمع الله قولا التي تجادلك في زوجها وتشتكي إلى الله

Indeed, God has heard the statement of the woman who argues with you about her husband and complains to God.

تجادلك في زوجها

She argues with him about her husband.

وتشتكي إلى الله

And she complains to God.

والله يسمع تحاوركما

And Allah hears your conversation.

إن الله سميع بصير

Indeed, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

الذين يوفرون

Those who provide

الذين يظاهرون منكم من نسائهم

Those of you who declare their wives to be like their mothers.

ما هن أمهاتهم

What are their mothers?

إن أمهاتهم إلا الليل

Their mothers are but the night.

لا إي ولدنهم

No, I don't mind them.

إن أمهاتهم إلا الليل

Their mothers are nothing but the night.

لا إي ولدنهم

No, I didn't give birth to them.

وإنهم ليقولون منكراً من القول وزوراً

"And indeed, they say outrageous things and falsehoods."

وإن الله لعفو غفور

And indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

والذين يظاهرون من نسائهم ثم يعودون لما قالوا

"And those who make their wives unlawful to them by calling them like their mothers, then return to what they said..."

فتحرير رقبه

"To free a neck" or "To emancipate a neck"

فتحرير رقبة من قبل أن يتمس

"To free a neck before it is touched."

ذلكم توعظون به

That is what you are admonished with.

والله بما تعملون خبير

Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

فمن لم يجد فصيام شهرين متتابعين

So whoever cannot find [the means], then fasting for two consecutive months.

فصيام شهرين متتابعين من قبل أن يتمس

So fasting for two consecutive months before touching.

فمن لم يستطع فإطعام ستين مسكينا

So whoever is unable to do so, then feeding sixty needy people.

ذلك لتؤمنوا بالله

That is so you may believe in God.

ذلك لتؤمنوا بالله ورسوله

That is so you may believe in Allah and His Messenger.

وتلك حدود الله

And those are the boundaries of Allah.

وللكافرين عذاب أليم

And for the disbelievers is a painful punishment.

إن الذين يحافظون

Indeed, those who maintain.

وقد أنزلنا آيات بينات

And We sent down clear verses.

وللكافرين عذاب مهين

And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment.

يوم يبعثهم الله جميعا

The day Allah will resurrect them all.

فينبئهم بما عملوا

So He will inform them of what they did.

أحصاه الله ونسوه

God has recorded it, but they forgot it.

والله على كل شيء شهيد

And Allah is a witness over all things.

ألم تر أن الله يعلم ما في السماوات وما في الأرض

"Have you not seen that God knows what is in the heavens and what is in the earth?"

ألم تر أن الله يعلم

"Did you not see that Allah knows?"

ما في السماوات وما في الأرض

What is in the heavens and what is in the earth.

ما يكون من نجوى ثلاثة إلا هو رابعهم

There is no private conversation among three, except that He is their fourth.

ولا خمسة إلا هو سادسهم

"And there is no five except that He is their sixth."

إلا هو سادسهم

Except he is their sixth.

ولا أدنى من ذلك ولا أكثر إلا هو معهم

And nothing less than that or more except He is with them.

ولا أكثر إلا هو معهم

And nothing more except that He is with them.

ثم ينبئهم بما عملوا يوم القيامة

Then He will inform them of what they did on the Day of Resurrection.

إن الله بكل ما يفعله

Indeed, Allah is aware of everything He does.

إن الله بكل شيء عليم

Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing about everything.

ألم تر إلى الذين نهوا عن النجوى

"Have you not seen those who were forbidden from whispering?"

ثم يعودون لما نهوا عنه

Then they return to what they were prohibited from.

ويتناجون بالإثم والعدوان ومعصية الرسول

And they conspire with sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger.

وإذا جاءوك حيوك بما لم يحيك به الله

And when they come to you, they greet you with a greeting with which Allah has not greeted you.

ويجاءوك حيوك بما لم يحيك به الله

"And they come to you with things that Allah has not created for you."

ويقولون في أنفسهم لولا يعذبنا الله بما نقول

And they say to themselves, "If only God would not punish us for what we say."

حسبهم جهنم يصلونها فبئس المصير

They will have Hellfire, where they will burn; and how terrible is the destination.

جهنم يصلونها فبئس المصير

Hell, they will arrive at it, and it is an evil destination.

يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا تناجيتم

O you who have believed, when you converse privately...

إذا تناجيتم فلا تتناجوا بذلك

If you whisper to each other, do not whisper about that.

فلا تتناجوا بالإثم والعدوان

"So do not conspire in sin and aggression."

إذا تناجيتم فلا تتناجوا بالإثم والعدوان

"When you converse privately, do not converse about sin and aggression."

فلا تتناجوا بالإثم والعدوان ومعصية الرسول

So do not conspire together in sin and aggression and disobedience to the Messenger.

وتناجه بالبر والتقوى

"And He advises him to righteousness and piety."

واتقوا الله الذي إليه تحشرون

And fear Allah, to whom you will be gathered.

إنما النجوى من الشيطان ليحزن الذين آمنوا

Indeed, the whisperings are from the devil to grieve those who have believed.

وليس بضارهم شيئا إلا بإذن الله

"And nothing will harm them except by the permission of Allah."

وعلى الله فليتوكل المؤمنون

And upon Allah let the believers rely.

يا أيها الذين آمنوا

O you who have believed

إذا قيل لهم

When it is said to them

يا أيها الذين آمنوا

O you who have believed

إذا قيل لكم تفسحوا

If you are told to make room.

إذا قيل لكم تفسحوا في المجالس فافسحوا

If you are told to make room in the gatherings, then make room.

ففسحوا

So make way.

فافسحوا يفسح الله لكم

Make way, and Allah will make way for you.

وإذا قيل انشزوا فانشزوا

"And when it is said, 'Rise,' then rise."

يرفع الله الذين آمنوا منكم

Allah will raise those who have believed among you.

والذين أوتوا العلم درجات

And those who have been given knowledge will have درجات (ranks).

والله بما تعملون خبير

Indeed, Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

يا ربنا

O our Lord

يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا ناجيتم الرسول

O you who have believed, when you private message the Messenger...

إذا ناجيتم الرسول فقدموا بين يدي نجواكم صدقا

If you confer privately with the Messenger, then present before your private conversation a charity.

ذلك خير لكم وأطهر

That is better for you and purer.

فإن لم تجدوا فإن الله غفور رحيم

If you do not find it, then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

فإن الله غفور رحيم

Indeed, Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful.

أأشفقتم أن تقدموا بين يدي نجواكم صدقات

"Do you hesitate to give before your private conversation contributions?"

فإذ لم تفعلوا فإن الله غفور رحيم

So if you do not do so, then Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

فإذ لم تفعلوا وتاب الله عليكم

If you do not do so, then Allah has turned to you in mercy.

فأقيموا الصلاة وآتوا الزكاة

So establish prayer and give zakah.

وأطيعوا الله ورسوله

And obey Allah and His Messenger.

والله خبير بما تعملون

And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

ألم تر إلى الذين تولوا قوما غضب الله عليهم

"Have you not seen those who turned away from a people upon whom the wrath of Allah had fallen?"

ما هم منكم ولا منهم

They are neither of you nor of them.

ويحلفون على الكذب وهم يعلمون

They swear by lies while they know.

أعد الله لهم عذابا شديدا

God has prepared for them a severe punishment.

إنهم ساء ما كانوا يعملون

They were evil in what they used to do.

اتخذوا أيامهم

They took their days.

جنة فصدوا عن سبيل الله

Paradise, so they turned away from the path of God.

فلهم عذاب مهين

So for them is a humiliating punishment.

لن يحفظون

They will not memorize.

لن تغني عنهم أموالهم

Their wealth will not avail them.

ولا أولادهم من الله شيئا

"And their children do not have anything from Allah."

أولئك أصحاب النار

Those are the companions of the Fire.

هم فيها خالدون

They will be therein forever.

أولئك أصحاب النار

Those are the companions of the Fire.

هم فيها خالدون

They are therein eternally.

يوم يبعثهم الله جميعا

The day when God resurrects them all.

فيحلفون له كما يحلفون لكم

They swear to him as they swear to you.

ويحسبون أنهم على شيء

And they think that they are on something.

ألا إنهم هم الكاذبون

Indeed, they are the liars.

استحوذ عليهم شكرا

They were captivated, thank you.

فأنساهم ذكر الله

So He made them forget the remembrance of Allah.

أولئك حزب الشيطان

Those are the party of the devil.

ألا إن حزب الشيطان هم الخاسرون

Indeed, the party of Satan are the losers.

إن الذين يحادون الله ورسوله

Indeed, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger.

أولئك في الأذلين

Those are in the lowest state.

كتب الله لأغلبن أنا ورسلي

God has decreed: I will surely overcome, I and My messengers.

إن الله قوي

Indeed, Allah is Strong.

أنا ورسلي

Me and my message.

إن الله قوي عزيز

Indeed, God is Strong and Mighty.

لا تجد قوما يؤمنون بالله واليوم الآخر

"You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day."

يوادون من حد الله ورسوله

They evade the limits set by Allah and His Messenger.

ولو كانوا آباءهم أو أبناءهم

"Even if they were their fathers or their sons."

ولو كانوا أبناءهم

Even if they were their children.

آباءهم أو أبناءهم

Their parents or their children.

أو أبناءهم أو إخوانهم أو عشيرتهم

Or their children, or their brothers, or their tribe.

أولئك كتب في قلوبهم الإيمان

Those are the ones in whose hearts Allah has written faith.

وأيدهم بروح منه

"And He supported them with a spirit from Him."

ويدخلهم جنات تجري من تحتها الأنهار

And He will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow.

خالدين فيها

They will abide therein forever.

رضي الله عنهم ورضوا عنه

May Allah be pleased with them and may they be pleased with Him.

أولئك حزب الله

Those are the party of God.

ألا إن حزب الله هم المفلحون

Indeed, the party of Allah are the successful ones.
