إياكم وقطيعة الإخوة والأخوات

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

أن الحمد لله

Indeed, all praise is due to Allah.

نحمده ونستعينه ونستغفره

We praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness.

ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا وسيئات أعمالنا

And we seek refuge with Allah from the evils of our souls and the evil of our deeds.

من يهدي الله فلا مضل له

Whoever Allah guides, there is no misleader for him.

ومن يضلل فلا هادي له

"And whomever He misguides, there is no guide for him."

وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له

And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, alone with no partner.

وأشهد أن محمد عبده ورسوله أما بعد

"And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. To proceed..."

فإن أصدق الحديث كلام الله وخير الهدي

The most truthful speech is the speech of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance.

هدي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم

The guidance of Muhammad, peace be upon him.

وشر الأمور محدثاتها

"And the worst of matters are those that are newly introduced."

وكل محدثة بدعة

"And every innovation is a bid'ah."

وكل بدعة ضلالة

"And every innovation is a misguidance."

وكل ضلالة في النار أما بعد

"And every misguidance is in the Fire. As for what follows..."

عباد الله

Servants of God

إن الوسرة من الآباء والأمهات والإخوة والأخوات

The family consists of parents, brothers, and sisters.

من أعظم النعم التي أنعم الله بها على العبد

One of the greatest blessings that God has bestowed upon a servant.

ومن أعطي نعمة

And whoever is given a blessing

وجب عليه أداء حقوقها والقيام بواجباتها

He is obligated to fulfill her rights and perform her duties.

وكثيرا ما يتكلم الناس عن حقوق الآباء والأمهات

People often talk about the rights of parents.

ولكنهم يغفلون عن حقوق الإخوة والأخوات

But they overlook the rights of brothers and sisters.

فعن المقدام بن معدي كريم

Narrated by Al-Miqdam bin Ma'adi Karib.

رضي الله عنه أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

"May Allah be pleased with him, he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him."

يقول

He says

إن الله يوصيكم بأمهاتكم

Indeed, Allah advises you regarding your mothers.

ثم يوصيكم بأمهاتكم

Then He advises you regarding your mothers.

ثم يوصيكم بآبائكم

Then he advises you regarding your parents.

ثم يوصيكم بالأقرب فالأقرب

Then he advises you to prioritize the closest ones first.

فالقيام بحقوق الإخوة والأخوات

To fulfill the rights of brothers and sisters.

من صلة الرحم التي أمر الله بصلتها

From the ties of kinship that Allah commanded to be maintained.

وحرم قطيعتها

"And it is forbidden to sever ties with her."

حتى قال صلى الله عليه وسلم

Until he said, peace be upon him.

لا يدخل الجميع بأمهاتكم

Not everyone enters with your mothers.

فالجنة قاطع متفق عليه

Paradise is a consensus agreement.

والعقوق للإخوة والأخوات

And being ungrateful to brothers and sisters.

مما يعجل الله عقوبته في الدنيا قبل الآخرة

What hastens God's punishment in this world before the Hereafter.

قال صلى الله عليه وسلم

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said.

ما من ذنب أحرى أن يعجل الله لصاحبه العقوبة في الدنيا

There is no sin more deserving of causing God to hasten punishment for its perpetrator in this world.

مع ما يدخر له في الآخرة

With what is saved for him in the Hereafter.

من قطيعة الرحم والبغي

From cutting ties of kinship and wrongdoing.

رواه الترمذي وأبو داود

Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawood.

وفي قصة أمهاته

And in the story of his mothers.

وفي قصة موسى عباد الله

And in the story of Moses, the servants of God.

من بر الأخ لأخيه

The one who is righteous to his brother.

وبر الأخت لأخيها

The way of the sister to her brother.

ما يؤكد لنا هذه الحقوق

What confirms these rights to us.

فأخت موسى تتبعته حتى كانت سببا

Moses' sister followed him until she became a cause.

في إرجاع موسى لأمه

In returning Moses to his mother.

حين قالت

When she said

هل أدلكم على أهل بيت يكفلونه لكم

"Shall I guide you to a household that will take care of him for you?"

وهم له ناصحون

And they are advising him.

وهذا موسى عليه السلام

And this is Moses, peace be upon him.

دعا ربه أن يرسل

He prayed to his Lord to send.

يمنى على أخيه بالنبوة

She is favored over her brother with prophethood.

فيكون له ردعا ومعينا

It will be a deterrent and a support for him.

وأخي هارون هو أفصح مني لسانا

And my brother Aaron is more eloquent in speech than I am.

فأرسله معي يرد أن يصدقني

"Send him with me so that he can confirm my truthfulness."

إني أخاف أن يكثبون

I fear that they will lie.

قال سنشد عضو ذكى بأخيك

He said, "We will support a clever member with your brother."

ونجعل لكما سلطانا

"And We will grant you both authority."

فلا يصلون إليكما بآياتنا

"Then they will not reach you with Our signs."

أنتما ومن انتبعكم الغالبون

You and those who follow you are the victorious ones.

وكان من دعائيه أن يتبعونه

And my prayer was that they would follow him.

موسى عليه السلام

Moses (peace be upon him)

رب اغفر لي ولأخي

My Lord, forgive me and my brother.

وأدخلنا في رحمتك

"And admit us into Your mercy."

وأنت أرحم الراحمين

"And You are the Most Merciful of the merciful."

قال ابن كثير رحمه الله

Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said.

ولهذا قال بعض السلف

And for this reason, some of the early scholars said.

ليس أحد أعظم منة على أخيه

No one is greater in favor than his brother.

من موسى على هارون

From Moses to Aaron.

عليهم السلام

Peace be upon them.

فإنه شفع فيه حتى جعله الله نبيا ورسولا معه

He interceded for him until Allah made him a prophet and a messenger with him.

إلى فرعون وملأه

To Pharaoh and his entourage.

عباد الله

O servants of God

وهذا نبينا فرعون

And this is our Prophet Pharaoh.

صلى الله عليه وسلم

Peace be upon him.

يوصي الأخ الكبير

The older brother recommends.

بالشفقة والرحمة على الأخ الصغير

With compassion and mercy towards the younger brother.

ويوصي الصغير باحترام وتوقير وتقدير الكبير

The young one is advised to respect, honor, and appreciate the elder.

فعن ناس رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Narrated by Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, from the Prophet, peace be upon him.

أنه قال ليس منا من لم يرحم صغيرنا

He said, "He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young ones."

ويوقر كبيرنا

And we honor our elders.

رواه الترمذي

It was narrated by Al-Tirmidhi.

وينبغي على العبد

And it is incumbent upon the servant.

أن ينظر في حاجته

To look into his needs.

أخيه وأخته

His brother and sister.

ويتفقد أحوالهما

And he checks on their condition.

فإن كان أحدهما في حاجة

If one of them is in need.

مد له يد العون

He extended a helping hand to him.

وهذا من أعظم أبواب الصدقة والإحسان

And this is one of the greatest doors of charity and benevolence.

فهو صدقة وصلة

It is a charity and a connection.

وإن لم يكن في حاجة

And if he is not in need.

فلا أقل من صلته بالهدية

So at least he is connected to the gift.

التي تجمع النفوس

That unites souls.

وتقرب البعيد

And it brings the distant closer.

وتلين القلوب

And soften the hearts.

بعضهم على بعض

Some of them over others.

فعن طارقهم

"So regarding their fate."

رضي الله عنه قال

"May Allah be pleased with him, he said."

قدمت المدينة

The city has presented.

فإذا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

So behold, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

قائم يخطب الناس

A man is standing and addressing the people.

وهو يقول

And he says.

يد المعطي العليا

The hand of the generous.

وابدأ بمن تعول

"Start with those you support."

أمك وأباك

Your mother and your father.

وأختك وأخاك

Your sister and your brother.

ثم أدناك أدناك

Then we brought you closer, closer.

رواه النسائي

Narrated by Al-Nasa'i.

وهذا جابر بن عبد الله

This is Jabir ibn Abdullah.

رضي الله عنهما

May Allah be pleased with them both.

لما استشهد أبوه رضي الله عنهما

When his father was martyred, may Allah be pleased with him.

في غزوة أحد

In the Battle of Uhud

كان له تسع أخوات

He had nine sisters.

تزوج جابر رضي الله عنه

Jabir, may Allah be pleased with him, got married.

امرأة ثيبا كبيرة

A big widowed woman.

لتقوم عليهن وتحسن إليهن

To take care of them and to be good to them.

فقدم حاجتهن على رغبته

So they presented their needs over their desires.

وفي الحديث قال له رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

In the hadith, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to him.

تزوجت

I got married.

قلت نعم

I said yes.

قال بكرا أم ثيبا

He said, "Is she a virgin or a widow?"

قلت بل ثيبا

I said, "Rather, a widow."

قال أفلا جارية

He said, "Isn't it a girl?"

وقال لهم أمثيبا

He said to them, "Am I like this?"

تلاعبها وتلاعبك

Her manipulation and your manipulation.

قلت يا رسول الله

I said, "O Messenger of Allah."

إن لي أخوات

I have sisters.

فأحببت أن أتزوج امرأة

So I wanted to marry a woman.

تجمعهن وتمشطهن

She gathers them and styles their hair.

وتقوم عليهن

And you are responsible for them.

وفي رواية

And in the narration

توفي والدي أو استشهد

My father passed away or was martyred.

ولي أخوات صغار

I have younger sisters.

فكرهت أن أتزوج مثلهن

I disliked the idea of marrying someone like them.

فلا تؤدبهن ولا تقوم عليهن

So do not discipline them nor take charge of them.

فتزوجت ثيبا لتقوم عليهن

So she married Thayyiba to take care of them.

وتؤدبهن

And educate them.

رواه البخاري ومسلم

Narrated by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

وقد جاءت الوصية

And the will has come.

عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

About the Prophet, peace be upon him.

برعاية الأخوات

Under the auspices of the sisters.

وجعل على ذلك الأجر والثواب

"And He made reward and recompense for that."

ودخول الجنات

And entering the gardens.

عن عائشة رضي الله عنها

About Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her.

قالت

She said.

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said.

ليس أحد من أمتي

"There is no one from my nation."

يعول ثلاث بنات

He is supporting three daughters.

أو ثلاث أخوات

Or three sisters.

فيحسن إليهن

He does good to them.

إلا قدرهن

"Except for their measure."

وكن له سترا من النار

"And be a shield for him from the Fire."

وقال صلى الله عليه وسلم

And he (peace be upon him) said.

من عال ابنتين

Who raised two daughters?

أو ثلاث بنات

Or three daughters.

أو أختين

Or two sisters.

أو ثلاث أخوات

Or three sisters.

حتى يمتن

Until he dies.

وفي رواية حتى يبن

In the narration, "until it separates."

وفي رواية حتى يبلغن

"And in a narration until they reach."

أو يموت عنهن

Or dies leaving them behind.

كنت أنا وهو

It was me and him.

كهاتين

Khatateen

وأشار بأصبعيه السبابة والأسطى

He pointed with his index and middle fingers.

ومن أعظم أبواب الإحسان

And among the greatest doors of kindness.

إلى الأخوات

To the sisters

حفظ حقوقهن في الميراث

Protecting their rights in inheritance.

وأدائه

And its performance.

كما أمر به الله تعالى

As commanded by God Almighty.

فمن الناس

Among the people.

من لا يتق الله تعالى

Whoever does not fear God, the Exalted.

في ميراث النساء

In the inheritance of women

من الزوجات والأخوات أو البنات

From wives, sisters, or daughters.

ولا يؤدي حقوقهن

"And does not fulfill their rights."

وهذا من أعظم الظلم

And this is one of the greatest injustices.

ومن الظلم للأخوات

And it is unjust to the sisters.

كذلك

Likewise.

عضلها

Her muscles.

وعدم تيسير أمر زواجها

And the failure to facilitate her marriage.

فإذا جاءكم

So when there comes to you

ترضون دينه وخلقه

You are pleased with his religion and character.

فزوجوه

"Then marry him."

أو السعي بعد زواجها

Or the pursuit after her marriage.

لإفساد أسرتها

To corrupt her family.

وتطليقها من زوجها

And divorcing her from her husband.

لأتفه الأسباب

For the simplest of reasons.

أو عدم الرضا

or dissatisfaction

برجوع أخته لزوجها

With the return of his sister to her husband.

إذا طلقها

If he divorces her.

وأراد إرجاعها

And he wanted to return it.

وليس فيه بأس

And there is no harm in it.

روى البخاري وعلي الحسن

Bukhari and Ali Al-Hasan narrated.

في قوله تعالى

In His saying, the Most High

فلا تعضلوهن

So do not hinder them.

قال حدثني معقل بن يسار

He said, "Ma'qal ibn Yasar told me."

أنها نزلت فيه

That it was revealed in it.

قال زوجت أختا لي من رجل

My sister's husband has married another woman.

فطلقها

So he divorced her.

حتى إذا انقضت عدتها

"Until her waiting period has ended."

جاء يخطبها

He came to propose to her.

فقلت له

So I said to him.

زوجتك وفرشتك

I married you and my bed is yours.

وأكرمتك

And I honored you.

فطلقتها

So I divorced her.

ثم جئت تخطبها

Then you came to propose to her.

لا والله لا تعود إليك أبدا

No, by God, I will never come back to you.

وكان رجلا لا بأس به

He was a decent man.

وكانت المرأة

And the woman was

تريد أن ترجع إليه

You want to return to him.

فأنزل الله هذه الآية

Then God revealed this verse.

فلا تعضلوهن

So do not prevent them.

فقلت

I said.

الآن أفعل يا رسول الله

Now I do, O Messenger of Allah.

قال فزوجها إياه

He said, "So he married her to him."

فكونوا عباد الله مصلحين

So be God's servants, reformers.

ولا تكونوا مفسدين

And do not be corruptors.

فعلى العبد أن يتق الله

A servant must fear Allah.

في أخواته وبناته

In his siblings and daughters.

وعلى الأخت أن تحفظ أخاها

And the sister must protect her brother.

في غيبته وعرضه

In his absence and his reputation.

فقولوا ما تسمعون

So say what you hear.

وأستغفر الله العظيم لي ولكم

And I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Exalted, for me and for you.

من كل ذنب فاستغفروه

From every sin, so ask for His forgiveness.

إنه هو الغفور الرحيم

He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

الحمد لله

Praise be to God.

والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

Peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.

وعلى آله وصحبه ومن اتبع هداه

"And upon his family and companions and whoever follows his guidance."

أما بعد

As for what follows

إباد الله

O servants of God

إن من أعظم المصائب

One of the greatest calamities

ومن أكبر المحرمات

And among the greatest prohibitions.

قطيعة الرجل لأخيه أو أخته

The severing of a man from his brother or sister.

وتهاجرهما

And they migrate.

بل قد يصل الأمر بينهما

But the matter between them may reach.

إلى المعارك والنزاع والمحاكم

To battles, conflict, and courts.

وهذا للأسف

And this is unfortunately.

ما نراه ونسمعه في مجتمعاتنا

What we see and hear in our societies.

فيا أيها القاطع لرحمه

O you who cut off ties with your relatives

كيف تقابل ربك

How do you meet your Lord?

وما عذرك وما جوابك

And what is your excuse and what is your answer?

أما تعلم أنك على خطر عظيم

Do you not know that you are in great danger?

أما تعلم أنك في باب

Do you not know that you are at a door?

من أبواب غضب الله تعالى

From the gates of God's wrath.

بادر ببذل أسباب الصلاح والاجتماع

Take the initiative to make efforts for reform and unity.

تنازل لأجل لميث جاء في أسرتك

A concession for the sake of the girl who came into your family.

واجتماع أخوتك

And the gathering of your brothers.

أيها الأخ الكبير

O big brother

كن كبيرا في عقلك

Be big in your mind.

ودينك

And your religion.

وأصلح أمرك مع إخوتك

And make peace with your brothers.

أيها الأخ الصغير

Dear younger brother

احترم أخاك فهو بمنزلة أبيك

Respect your brother, for he is like your father.

اجتعد في تقديره واحترامه

He excelled in his estimation and respect.

أغلقوا أبواب شياطين الإنس والجن

Close the doors to the demons of men and jinn.

من الذين يدعونكم إلى القطيعة

Who are the ones calling you to sever ties?

وإفساد ذات البين

And corrupting the relations between people.

عن أنس رضي الله عنه

About Anas, may Allah be pleased with him.

أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال

That the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

لا تباغضوا ولا تحرروا

Do not hate each other and do not separate.

ولا تدابروا

And do not turn away from each other.

وكونوا عباد الله إخوانا

"And be servants of Allah, brothers."

ولا يحل لمسلم

It is not permissible for a Muslim.

أن يهجر أخاه فوق ثلاث

To abandon his brother for more than three (days).

رواه مسلم

Narrated by Muslim.

وكلما طال الهجر

"And the longer the separation lasts"

فالإثم أشد

For sin is greater.

فأنا بخيراش السلمي

I am fine, peace be upon you.

رضي الله عنه

May Allah be pleased with him.

أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

He heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

يقول

He says.

من هجر أخاه سنة

Whoever abandons his brother for a year.

فهو كسفك دمه

For he is like the spilling of your blood.

رواه أبو داود

Narrated by Abu Dawood.

وهذه الأحاديث

And these are the hadiths.

في أخوة الدين

In the brotherhood of religion.

وإذا اجتمعت أخوة الدين والنسب

And when the brothers of religion and kinship come together.

كانت القطيعة أعظم

The severance was greater.

وأشد جرما

And more grievous.

فإن بينهما رحما

For there is a bond of kinship between them.

قد أمر الله بصلتها

Allah has commanded to maintain it.

ونهى عن قطيعتها

And he forbade her from severing it.

واعلموا أنكم بهذه القطيعة

And know that by this severance

يفوت عليكم

You miss out.

كثير من أجور أعمالكم

Many of the rewards for your deeds.

فنبي هريرة رضي الله عنه

The Prophet Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him.

قال قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

The Prophet, peace be upon him, said.

يقول

He says.

تعرض الأعمال

Exhibition of works

في كل يوم خميس واثنين

Every Thursday and Monday.

فيغفر الله عز وجل

Then Allah, the Exalted, will forgive.

في ذلك اليوم

On that day.

لكل امرئ

For every person

لا يشرك بالله شيئا

He does not associate anything with Allah.

إلا امرأا

"Except for a woman"

كانت بينه وبين أخيه شحنا

There was enmity between him and his brother.

فيقال

It is said.

اركوا هذين حتى يصطلحا

Leave these two until they reconcile.

رواه مسلم

Narrated by Muslim.

فبادر أيها القاطع

So hurry, O you who cuts.

لرحمك

To your womb.

وعيها القاطع لرحمك

Her sharp awareness of your womb.

وهل هاجر لأخيه أو اخته

Did he migrate for his brother or sister?

أو اخته السنين الطويلة

Or his sister of the long years.

إلى التوبة إلى الله

To repent to God.

قبل أن تقبل عليه

Before you approach him.

فيحاسبك

"And He will hold you accountable."

اجعل العفو شعارك في هذه الدنيا

Make forgiveness your motto in this world.

فهو عزك ورفعتك عند الله

It is your honor and your elevation with God.

وسبب لنيل مرضات الله

And a reason for earning God's pleasure.

وليعفو وليصفحوا

And let them forgive and overlook.

ألا تحبون أن يغفر الله لكم

Do you not want Allah to forgive you?

والله غفور الرحيم

And indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

النبي هريرة رضي الله عنه

The Prophet Al-Hirrah, may Allah be pleased with him.

عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم

About the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

قال

He said.

ما نقصت صدقة من مال

Charity does not decrease wealth.

وما زاد الله عبدا

"And God does not increase a servant."

بعفو إلا عزا

I pardon except for honor.

وما تواضع أحد لله

And no one humbles himself before Allah.

إلا رفعه الله

"Except that Allah raised him."

رواه مسلم

Narrated by Muslim.

اللهم أصلح ذات قلوبنا

O Allah, rectify our hearts.

اللهم اجمعنا وإخوتنا

O Allah, unite us with our brothers.

وأخواتنا

And our sisters.

اللهم إنا نسألك العفو والعافية

O Allah, we ask You for pardon and health.

في الدنيا والآخرة

In this world and the hereafter.

اللهم إنا نعوذ بك من شياطين الإنس والجن

O Allah, we seek refuge in You from the devils of mankind and jinn.

اللهم اغفر المسلمين

O Allah, forgive the Muslims.

والمؤمنين والمؤمنات

and the believing men and believing women

والمسلمين والمسلمات

And the Muslim men and women.

الأحياء منهم والأموات

The living among them and the dead.

اللهم اغفر لنا وليوالدين

O Allah, forgive us and our parents.

وصل الله وسلم وبارك على نبينا محمد

May Allah's peace, blessings, and grace be upon our Prophet Muhammad.
