بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

ألف لامين

Alif Lam Meem

الله لا إله إلا هو الحي القيوم

God, there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.

نزل عليك الكتاب بالحق مصدقا لما بين يديه وأنزل التوراة والإنجيل

The Book has come down to you with truth, confirming what is before it, and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

من قبل هدى للناس وأنزل الفرقان

"By guidance for the people and He sent down the Criterion."

إن الذين كفروا بي

Indeed, those who have disbelieved in me.

آيات الله لهم عذاب شديد

The signs of Allah for them are a severe punishment.

والله عزيز ذو انتقام

Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and He is the Avenger.

إن الله لا يخفى عليه شيء في الأرض ولا في السماء

Indeed, Allah is not unaware of anything in the earth or in the heavens.

هو الذي يصوركم فيه

He is the one who shapes you in it.

في الأرحام كيف يشاء

"In the wombs as He wills."

لا إله إلا هو العزيز الحكيم

There is no god but Him, the Exalted, the Wise.

هو الذي أنزل عليك الكتاب منه آيات محكمات

He it is who has sent down to you the Book; in it are verses that are precise.

هن أم الكتاب وأخر متشابهات

They are the Mother of the Book and others that are similar.

فأما الذين في قلوبهم زيغ فيتبعون ما تشابه منه ابتغاء الفتنة وابتغاء تأويله

As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow that of it which is ambiguous, seeking fitna and seeking its interpretation.

وما يعلم تأويله إلا الله

"None knows its interpretation except Allah."

والراسخون

And those who are firmly rooted (in knowledge).

في العلم يقولون آمنا به كل من عند ربنا

In knowledge, they say: "We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord."

وما يذكر إلا أولو الألباب

"And none will remember except those of reason."

ربنا لا تزغ قلوبنا بعد إذ هديتنا

Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us.

وهب لنا من لدنك

Grant us from Yourself.

ورحمة

And mercy

إنك أنت الوهاب

Indeed, You are the Bestower.

ربنا إنك جامع الناس في يوم لا غيب فيه

Our Lord, indeed You will gather the people on a Day about which there is no doubt.

إن الله لا يخلف الميعاد

Indeed, God does not fail in His promise.
