سورة الاحقاف - Surat Al Ahkaf

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

أرأيتم ما تدعون من دون الله أغوني

"Did you see what you invoke besides Allah? They have not helped me."

ماذا خلقوا من الأرض أم لهم شرك في السماوات

"What have they created from the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens?"

إيتوني بكتاب من قبل هذا أو أفارة من علم إن كنتم صادقين

"Bring me a book before this or a trace of knowledge if you are truthful."

ومن أضل لمن يدعو من دون الله

And who is more misguided than one who calls upon other than Allah?

من دون الله من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامة وهم عن دعائهم غافلون

Without Allah, there are those who do not respond to Him until the Day of Resurrection, and they are heedless of their supplications.

وإذا حشر الناس كانوا لهم أعداء وكانوا بعبادتهم كافرين

"And when people are gathered, they will be their enemies and will deny their worship."

وإذا تتلى عليهم آياتنا بينات قالوا

"And when Our clear verses are recited to them, they say..."

قال الذين كفروا للحق لما جاءهم هذا سحر مبين

Those who disbelieved said of the truth when it came to them, "This is clear magic."

أم يقولون افتراه قل إن افتريته فلا تملكون لي من الله شيئا

Or do they say, "He has fabricated it"? Say, "If I have fabricated it, you will not possess for me anything from Allah."

هو أعلم بما تفيضون فيه

He knows what you are overflowing with.

كفى به شهيدا بيني وبينكم وهو الغفور الرحيم

"Sufficient is He as a witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

قل ما كنت بذعا من الرسل وما أدري ما يفعل بي ولا بكم

"Say, 'I am not a new thing among the messengers, and I do not know what will be done with me or with you.'"

إن أتبع إلا ما يوحى إلي وما أنا إلا نذير مبين

"I do not follow anything except what is revealed to me, and I am only a clear warner."

قل أرأيتم إن كان من عند الله وكفرتم به وسهد ساهد مبين

Say, "What if it is from Allah and you disbelieve in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar?"

وشهد شاهد من بني إسرائيل على مفله فآمن واستكبرتم

"And a witness from the Children of Israel testified concerning him, so he believed, while you were arrogant."

إن الله لا يهدي القوم الظالمين

Indeed, God does not guide the wrongdoing people.

وقال الذين كفروا للذين آمنوا

And those who disbelieved said to those who believed.

لو كانوا بينات

If they were between us.

خيرا ما سبقونا إليه وإذ لم يهتدوا به فسيقولون هذا إفك قديم

"Better what they preceded us to, and if they are not guided by it, they will say this is an old falsehood."

ومن قبله كتاب موسى إلى من ورحمة

"And before it was the Book of Moses to those who have mercy."

وهذا كتاب مصدق لسانا عربيا

And this is a verified book in Arabic language.

لينذر الذين ظلموا بشرى للمحسنين

To warn those who have wronged and give good news to the doers of good.

إن الذين قالوا ربنا الله ثم استقاموا فلا خوف عليهم ولا هم يحزدون

Indeed, those who said, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remained steadfast, there will be no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.

أولئك أصحاب الجنة خالدين فيها جزاء بما كانوا يعملون

Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding therein forever as a reward for what they used to do.

ووصينا الناس إلى الجنة وقالوا لهم أتبعوا من بني إسرائيل

And We recommended the people towards Paradise, and they said to them, "Follow those from the Children of Israel."

إنسان بوالديه إحسانا

"Be good to your parents."

حملته أمه كرها ووضعته كرها

His mother carried him with difficulty and gave birth to him with difficulty.

وحمله وفصاله ثلاثون شهرا

And his gestation and weaning is thirty months.

حتى إذا بلغ أشهده وبلغ أربعين سنة

Until when he reaches his maturity and reaches forty years.

قال رب أوزعني أن أشكر نعمتك التي أنعمت علي ورحمتك

He said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds of which You will approve."

وعلى والدي وأن أعمل صالحا ترضاه وأصلحني في ذليتي

"And upon my parents, and to do righteous deeds that please You, and make my offspring righteous."

إني تبت إليك وإني من المسلمين

"Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims."

أولئك الذين نتقبل عنهم أحسن ما عملوا

Those who we accept the best of what they have done.

ونتجاوز عن سيئاتهم

And we overlook their misdeeds.

في أصحاب الجنة

In the companions of Paradise.

وعد الصدق الذي كانوا يوعدون

The promise of truth that they were promised.

والذي قال لوالديه أفلكما أتعد عني أن أخرج

"And he who said to his parents, 'Do you both admonish me to not go out?'"

وقد خلت القرون من قبلي وهما يستغيثان الله

The centuries before me have passed while they were calling upon God for help.

وهما يستغيثان الله ويلك آمن إنك أمين

"And they both call out to God, 'O you who are faithful, indeed you are trustworthy.'"

إن وعد الله حق فيقول ما هذا إلا أساطير الأولين

"Indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and they say: 'This is nothing but the legends of the ancients.'"

أولئك الذين حق عليهم القول في أمم قد خلت من قبلهم من الجن والإنس

Those upon whom the word has come into effect among nations that have passed before them, both of jinn and mankind.

إنهم كانوا خاسرين

They were losers.

وقل لهم درجات مما عملوا وليوفيهم أعمالهم وهم لا يظلمون

"And tell them that they will have degrees according to what they have done, and they will be fully compensated for their deeds, and they will not be wronged."

ويوم يعرض الذين كفروا على النار أذهبتم طيباتكم في حياتكم الدنيا

"And the Day the disbelievers will be presented to the Fire (it will be said), 'You had your good things in your worldly life.'"

واستمتعتم بها

And you enjoyed it.

فاليوم تجزون عذاب الهون بما كنتم

"Today you will be recompensed with the punishment of disgrace for what you used to do."

تستكبرون في الأرض بغير الحق وبما كنتم تفسقون

You commit arrogance on earth without right and for what you used to transgress.

واذكروا أخا علي إذ أنذر قومه بالأحقاف

"And remember the brother of Ali when he warned his people in the sand dunes."

وقد خلت النذر من بين يديه ومن خلفه

And the vows were removed from before him and behind him.

أن لا تعبدوا إلا الله

That you should not worship anyone except God.

إني أخاف عليكم عذاب يوم عظيم

I fear for you the punishment of a great day.

قالوا أجئتنا لتأفكنا عن آلهتنا

They said, "Have you come to us to turn us away from our gods?"

فأتنا بما تعيدنا إن كنت من الصادقين

"Bring us what you promise us if you are among the truthful."

قال إنما العلم عند الله وأبلغكم ما أرسلت به

He said, "Knowledge is only with Allah, and I convey to you what I have been sent with."

ولكني أراكم قوما تجهلون

"But I see you as a people who are ignorant."

قال إنما العلم عند الله أوصلوا أنا tiles

He said, "Knowledge is only with God. Convey that I am tiles."

إذا لا أر heats

If there are no heats.

سبدا سبحان الله

Glory be to God.

أيها الأحخاء

Oh brothers

هذا لا يعpledكم

This does not concern you.

تنمر كل شيء بأمر ربها فأصبحوا لا يرى إلا مساكنهم كذلك نجزي القوم المجرمين

Everything was subjected to the command of its Lord, and they became unseen except for their dwellings. Thus, We recompense the guilty people.

ولقد مكناهم فيما إن مكناكم فيه وجعلنا لهم سمعا وأبصارا وأفئدة فما أغنى عنهم سمعهم ولا أبصارهم ولا أفئدتهم من شيء

And We certainly established them in that which We have established you, and We made for them hearing, sight, and hearts; but hearing, sight, and hearts availed them not from anything.

إذ كانوا يجحدوا النبي

When they denied the prophet.

آيات الله وحاق بهم ما كانوا به يستهزئون

The verses of Allah and what they used to mock surrounded them.

ولقد أهلكنا ما حولكم من القرى وصرفنا الآيات لعلهم يرجعون

"And We have destroyed what surrounds you of the villages and We have turned away the signs so that perhaps they might return."

فلولا نصرهم الذين اتخذوا من دون الله قربانا آلهة

"If it weren't for the help of those who took from other than God as deities for intercession."

بل ضلوا عليهم

But they remained misguided towards them.

وذلك إفقهم وما كانوا يفترون

And thus We made them understand, and what they were fabricating.

وإذ صرفنا إليك نفرا من الجن يستمعون القرآن فلما حضروه قالوا أنصتوا فلما قضي ولوا إلى قومهم منذرين

"And when We sent to you a group of jinn listening to the Quran, and when they attended it, they said, 'Be silent!' And when it was concluded, they returned to their people as warners."

يا قومنا إنا سمعنا كتابا أنزل من بعد موسى مصدقا لما بين يديه يهدي إلى الحق وإلى طريق مستقيم

O my people, indeed we have heard a Book that was revealed after Moses confirming what was before it, guiding to the truth and to a straight path.

يا قومنا أجيبوا داعي الله وآمنوا به يغفر لكم من ذنوبه

O our people, respond to the caller of Allah and believe in Him; He will forgive you your sins.

ويجدكم من عذاب أليم

"And He will find you with a painful punishment."

ومن لا يجب داعي الله فليس بمعجز في الأرض وليس له من دونه أولياء أولئك في ضلال مبين

And whoever does not respond to the call of Allah is not in a position of authority on earth, and he has no protectors besides Him; those are in clear misguidance.

أولئك في ضلال مبين

They are in clear misguidance.

الله الذي خلق السماوات والأرض ولم يعي بخلقهن بقادر على أن يحيي الموتى

Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and was not tired by their creation, is certainly able to bring the dead to life.

بلى إنه على كل شيء قدير

Indeed, He is capable of everything.

ويوم يعرض الذين كفروا على النار أليس هذا بالحق قالوا بلى

And the Day those who disbelieved are presented to the Fire, [it will be said], "Was this not the truth?" They will reply, "Yes, by our Lord."

ورحمة الله وبركاته

And the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

قال فذوقوا العذاب بما كنتم تكفرون

He said, "So taste the punishment for what you used to disbelieve."

فاصبر كما صبر أولو العزم من الرسل ولا تستعجل لهم

So be patient, as the resolute messengers were patient, and do not be in haste for them.

كأنهم يوم يرون ما يوعدون لم يلبثوا إلا ساعة من نهار

As if, on the day they see what they were promised, they had not remained except for an hour of a day.

بلاغهم ورحمة الله وبركاته

May peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.

فهل يهلك إلا القوم الفاسقون

"Will only the corrupt people be destroyed?"
