ماذا على قرة العينين لو صفحت

What would it matter to the eyes of the beloved if you forgave?

وعودت بويصال بعدما صفحت

And I returned to Bouysal after I forgave.

باعتها القلب إيجابا بما وعدت

"I sold her the heart positively according to what I promised."

فهي لها صفقة في الحب ما ربحت

She has a deal in love that she didn't profit from.

قد يزعم الناس أن البخل مقطعة

People may claim that stinginess is a disgrace.

فما لقلبي يهواها وما سمحت

So what has my heart fallen for her, and what has she allowed?

خطية القد لو مر الحمام بها

The sin of the saint if the bathroom passed by it.

لم يشتبه أنها من أيكه تزحت

She did not suspect that she was from Aikah.

وإله من لحظها الفتاك إن نظرت

"And the god of her deadly glance, if she gazed."

واهن إن قدها العسال إن سنحت

"Our weakness is founded on the sweetness of the past if the opportunity arises."

يموت قلبي وعحيا حيرة وهدى

My heart dies, and I'm filled with confusion and guidance.

في عالم الوجد إن صدت وإن جناحت

In the world of longing, whether you turn away or you approach.

كالبدر إن سفرت والضبن إن نظرت

"Like the full moon when it is unveiled, and like a gazelle when you look at it."

والعصم إن خطرت والزهر إن نفحت

"And the vines if they bud, and the flowers if they exhale."

وإله من لحظها لم يشتبه

"And the God from whose glance there is no confusion."

وإله من لحظها لم يشتبه أنها من أيكه تزحت

And the deity from her glance did not doubt that she had come from his grove.

وخجلة البدر إن لاحت أسرتها

And the moon was shy when its family appeared.

وحيرة الرشأ الوسنان إن لمحت

And the confusion of the sleepy gazelle if it caught sight.

لها روابط لا تنفك واخذتها

It has unbreakable connections and I took it.

بعروة القلب إن جدت وإن مزحت

"By the bond of the heart, whether you are serious or joking."

يا سرحة الأمل الممنوع جانبه

Oh, wandering hope forbidden to be near.

ويا غزالة وادي الحسن إن سرحت

O gazelle of the valley of beauty, if you wandered...

ترفقي بفؤاد أنت منيته

Be gentle with my heart; you are its love.

ومقلته لسوى مرآك ما طمحته

"And I have not aimed for anyone other than your reflection."

حشاكي أن تسمعي قول المشاتبين

God forbid you hear the words of the gossipers.

فإنها ربما غشت إذا نصحت

For it may be deceived if I advise.

أفسدت في حبكم نفسي جوا وأسن

"I have spoiled my soul with your love, a sky and a grave."

والنفس في الحب مهما أفسدت

And the soul in love, no matter how much it corrupts.

صلحت نازلت أسحرها

I fixed it, I will enchant it.

بالشعر تسمعه من ذات فهم

"In poetry, you listen to it from the essence of understanding."

تجيد القول إن شرحت

You excel in speaking when you explain.

حتى إذا علمت ما حل بي وراءت

"Even when I learned what had happened to me, I hid it."

سطمي وخافت على نفس بها افتضحت

"I was surprised and afraid for a self that had been exposed."

حنت رثت عطفت مالت صبت عزمت

"She mourned, she lamented, she tilted, she poured, she resolved."

همت سرت وصالت عادت دنت مناحت

They rushed, moved, and advanced; they returned and came close to mourning.

هبطت في وصلها في نعمة عظمت

"It descended in her arrival with a great blessing."

ما شئت أو جنة أبوابها فتحت

Whatever you desire, the doors of paradise are open.

ننال من فغرها الدري ما سألت نفسي

"We obtain from its gleam what I have asked myself."

ومن خدها الوردي ما اقترحت في روضتين

And whoever has taken the rosy path has proposed in two gardens.

بسمت أزهارها ونمت

Its flowers blossomed and grew.

أفنانها وسجت أضلالها وضحت

Her perfection has settled, and her shadows have revealed themselves.

تكللت بجمال القطر واتزرت

Adorned with the beauty of rain, it wrapped itself.

بسنس النبت والريحان واتشحت

"The scent of the plant and basil has enveloped."
