Surah Ar-Ràd - Shaykh Zakaullah Saleem

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

أفمن يعلم أن ما أنزل إليك من ربك الحق كمن هو أعمى

Is he who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth like one who is blind?

إنما يتذكر أولو الألباب

Only those with understanding remember.

الذين يوفون بعهد الله ولا ينقضون الميثاق

Those who fulfill their covenant with Allah and do not break the pledge.

والذين يصلون ما أمر الله به أن يوصل ويخشون ربهم

"And those who maintain what Allah has ordered to be joined and fear their Lord."

ويخافون سوء الحساب

And they fear the evil of the reckoning.

والذين صبروا ابتغاء وجه ربهم وأقاموا الصلاة

And those who are patient, seeking their Lord's face, and establish prayer.

وأنفقوا مما رزقناهم سرا وعلانية

"And spend from what We have provided for them, privately and publicly."

ويدرؤون بالحسنة السيئة

"And they repel evil with good."

أولئك لهم عقب الدار

They will have a good abode.

جنات عدن يدخلونها ومن صلح من آبائهم وأزواجهم وذرياتهم

"The Gardens of Eden they will enter, along with the righteous among their parents, spouses, and offspring."

والملائكة يدخلون عليهم من كل بارة

And the angels enter upon them from every gate.

سلام عليكم بما صبرتم فنعم عقب الدار

Peace be upon you. With patience, you have achieved a good outcome.

والذين ينقضون عهد الله من بعد ميثاقه ويقطعون

"And those who break the covenant of Allah after its binding and cut..."

ويقطعون ما أمر الله به أن يوصل ويفسدون في الأرض

They sever what Allah has commanded to be joined and cause corruption in the land.

أولئك لهم اللعنة ولهم سوء الدار

Those are the ones who will be cursed, and for them is the worst of abodes.

الله يبسط الرزق لمن يشاء ويقدر

God expands provision for whom He wills and restricts it.

وفرحوا بالحياة الدنيا

And they rejoiced in the worldly life.

وما الحياة الدنيا في الآخرة

What is the life of this world compared to the Hereafter?

إلا متاع

Except for goods.

ويقول الذين كفروا لولا أنزل عليه آية من ربه

And those who disbelieve say, "Why has a sign not been sent down to him from his Lord?"

قل إن الله يضل من يشاء ويهدي إليه من أناب

Say, "Indeed, Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]."

الذين آمنوا وتطمئن قلوبهم بذكر الله

"Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah."

ألا بذكر الله تطمئن القلوب

Surely, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.

الذين آمنوا وعملوا الصالحات طوبى لهم وحسن مآب

Those who believed and did righteous deeds, good is for them and a good return.

كذلك أرسلناك في أماني

Similarly, We have sent you in hopes.

وإنما هم الأموال التي قد خلت من قبلها أمم لتتلو عليهم الذي أوحينا إليك وهم يكفرون بالرحمن

"They are only the wealth that nations before them have left behind, so that you may recite to them what We have revealed to you, while they deny the Most Merciful."

قل هو ربي لا إله إلا هو عليه توكلت وإليه متاعون

Say, "He is my Lord; there is no deity except Him. In Him I have trusted and to Him is my return."

ولو أن قرآنا سيرت به الجبال أو قطعت به الأرض أو كلم به الموتى

"And if there were a Qur'an by which the mountains could be moved or the earth could be cut apart or the dead could be made to speak..."

بل لله الأمر جميعا

But to God belongs all matters.

أفلم ييأس الذين آمنوا أن لو يشاء الله لهدى الناس جميعا

"Have those who believed not yet given up hope that if Allah had willed, He would have guided all the people?"

ولا يزال الذين كفروا تصيبهم بما صنعوا قارعة أو تحل قريبا من دارهم حتى يأتي وعد الله

And those who disbelieve will continue to be struck by the calamities of what they have done or will fall close to their homes until the promise of Allah comes.

إن الله لا يخلف الميعاد

Indeed, Allah does not break His promise.
