sense voler ser excessivament tècnics i per apropar el que és la literatura una mica a tot tipus de persones sense sonar molt arcaics ni molt pesats

Què entenem que hauríem de fer?

What do we understand we should do?

Hauríem de rebutjar la rutina,

We should reject the routine,

hauríem de rebutjar els preceptes que donem com a vàlids d'una vida en societat.

we should reject the precepts that we regard as valid for a life in society.

És a dir, jo si realment volgués escriure,

jo si volgués arribar a ser un artista,

arribar al camí de la veritat, trobar-lo,

Tot això quedaria rebutjat per la definició de l'artista de Henry James.

Bé, doncs es diu que els bons poetes no es guanyen la vida com a poetes.

Doncs per què?

Bé, doncs tot això és el que l'artista té el valor

Well, then all of this is what the artist has the courage for.

o té la capacitat de trobar un camí alternatiu

que és el rebuig a l'estructura social

per aconseguir una única cosa.

Trescendir com a artista,

To transcend as an artist,

que no vol dir transcendir pels demés, sinó

that does not mean transcending for others, but rather

transcendir en el camí de la creació,

transcend in the path of creation,

transcendir en aconseguir alguna cosa més enllà del que els altres podem avestar,

to transcend in achieving something beyond what others can foresee,

per dir-ho fàcilment.

Bé, l'assetisme seria, doncs,

aquella moda de vida, aquella filosofia de vida, no?,

Doncs l'artista engranda una mica l'idea de personatge,

d'aquell que viu per la literatura i mor per la literatura,

que és una imatge una mica mitificada

It is a somewhat mythified image.

i no sé si és un bon aport per la literatura

and I don't know if it's a good contribution to literature

perquè la discrimina molt i l'exclueix.

because it discriminates against her a lot and excludes her.

Però bé, també és veritat que molts artistes martiritzats en són molt atractius.

But well, it is also true that many martyred artists are very attractive.

Tots aquests autors descarnats, romàntics,

All these emaciated, romantic authors,

del romanticisme alemany, com Goethe o Hölderlin,

però també tenim un Kafka,

algú obsessionat amb la cerca estètica

Hi ha moltes més interpretacions del camí de l'artista, no?,

o de qui hauria de ser un bon filòsof o un escriptor.

Sartre per la seva banda, no?,

hi ha molts filòsofs que diuen que,

Sartre era una mica el paradigma d'aquest tipus d'interpretatiu,

És molt fàcil queixar-se de que hauríem de llegir

o que hauríem de fer quelcom que creiem que ens agrada o que ens crida,

però alhora estar mirant la pantalla del mòbil perquè sí,

but at the same time looking at the phone screen just because,

perquè el nostre oci està capitalitzat

because our leisure is capitalized

i cada cop tenim més tendència a la pantalla i la imatge

And we are increasingly inclined towards the screen and the image.

i cada cop ens suposa més un esforç al fet de llegir

and every time it requires more effort from us to read

i centrar la nostra atenció.

and focus our attention.

I ja per acabar,

per no fer-me més pesat,

parlava abans al principi de què és o no és un artista

i feia referència als escriptors de bestsellers

de que no són un model d'artista

i això a vegades pot semblar injust.

No ha de justificar el fet de vendre molt

Però la veritat és que moltes vegades

hi ha més interessos comercials a darrere

Un exemple bastant candent

Això vol dir que estem relatant
