我就交上去他们低座那边的演出场地

I just submitted it to their lower stage performance venue.

很多时候都会去那边看戏剧

I often go there to watch plays.

看电影又或者听音乐会

Watching movies or attending concerts.

而每次我到场的时候

And every time I am present.

都会碰到一班哀哭文化艺术的朋友

You will encounter a group of friends who lament the culture and arts.

大家一起等入场的时候

Everyone is waiting together to enter.

气氛都很热闹

The atmosphere is very lively.

而我今天请来的两位嘉宾

The two guests I invited today.

也都在大会堂度过他们很多精彩的好时光

They also spent a lot of wonderful times at the auditorium.

第一位出场的嘉宾

The first guest to appear.

就是有戏剧大师之称的King Sir钟景辉

It is King Sir Chung King-fai, who is famous as a master of drama.

在大会堂剧坛这么多年

In the Grand Hall Theatre for so many years.

一定在大会堂留下很多深刻的回忆

There must be many profound memories left in the conference hall.

但是回想King Sir初次踏上大会堂的经验又是怎样的呢

But what was King Sir's experience like when he first stepped into the conference hall?

一起听听King Sir怎样说

我在美国读完书回来的时候

When I returned after finishing my studies in the United States.

就是1962年

It was in 1962.

但是我回来的时候

But when I came back

大会堂开了幕几个月了

The conference hall has been open for a few months.

因为我6月左右才回到陆国来

Because I won't return to the mainland until around June.

我记得我第一次入去大会堂的时候

I remember the first time I entered the auditorium.

就是看黄金娟

It's just to watch Huang Jinjuan.

以前的电影名声

The reputation of past movies.

黄金娟做的《茶番女》

"Tea Party Girl" made by Huang Jiujuan.

那时候是我第一次入去大会堂

That was my first time entering the Great Hall.

依然很有深刻的记忆

Still have profound memories.

记得第一出看哪个戏

Remember which play you watched first?

第一出画一剧下去

The first act of the play continues.

我自己做的就要迟一点

What I make myself will take a little longer.

我导的戏反而还要早一点

The play I directed will actually be a bit earlier.

我自己导的戏

The play directed by myself.

比如我那时候回来就在浸会书院教书

For example, I returned at that time to teach at Baptist University.

浸会书院我和同学们演出了一个戏

At Baptist University, my classmates and I performed a play.

《推销缘之死》

"The Death of Salesperson Y"

当年我们就叶祖涂金梦

Back then, we had a dream of coating the leaves of our ancestors in gold.

就是第一次在大会堂做

It's the first time doing it at the auditorium.

第二出也是浸会同学

The second one is also a Baptist student.

是《小城风光》

It is "A Small Town's Scenery."

所以之前我自己搞的戏都是导两出先的

So previously, the plays I worked on were two productions directed in advance.

之后就有多一些机会在大会堂出演戏了

After that, there were more opportunities to perform in the auditorium.

在大会堂演出

Performing in the Great Hall.

还有在70年代、80年代

Also in the 1970s and 1980s.

我和香港话剧团也导了很多戏在大会堂

I have also directed many plays with the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre at the Concert Hall.

几乎我和香港话剧团的戏

Almost all the plays I have with the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre.

很大部分都是在大会堂

A large part is in the Grand Hall.

不是剧院

Not a theater.

就是音乐厅两边来做

It means doing it on both sides of the concert hall.

不过当时King Sir在外国读书的时候

However, at that time, King Sir was studying abroad.

当然接触过美国很多这些剧院

Of course, I have been exposed to many of these theaters in the United States.

知道他们的模式是怎样

Know what their pattern is like.

运作是怎样

How does it operate?

但是当你回来

But when you come back.

真的看到我们香港

Really see our Hong Kong.

大会堂当时唯一一个演出场地的时候

When the Great Hall was the only performance venue at that time.

你觉得我们这个大会堂的装修

或者它的设备方面又怎样

在当年来说已经叫做非常好

At that time, it was considered very good.

因为在大会堂之前

Because before the Great Hall.

是没有一个正式演画剧的场所的

There is no formal venue for performing operas.

除非你去租你的舞台

Unless you go rent your stage.

或者去租一些电影院

Or go rent some movie theaters.

像乐宫戏院

Like the Le Palace Theater.

都有时候有这个画剧做一下

Sometimes there are occasions to do this kind of drama.

其他你一是在学校礼堂

Other than that, you are either in the school auditorium.

甚至在学校的操场做

Even do it on the school's playground.

变成大会堂建了之后

After it was transformed into a conference hall.

就香港变成开始有一个正式演出的画剧的地方

Hong Kong has started to become a place with formal performances of stage dramas.

但是有一道很有趣的就是

当年这个大会堂教的灯光那些东西

The lights and those things taught in the conference hall back then.

就是交给大东电报局去负责的

It is to be entrusted to the Dadong Telegraph Bureau.

由大东电报局去负责灯光

The lighting is managed by the Dandong Telegraph Bureau.

负责音响的话我就明白了

I understand that you are responsible for the sound.

灯光那些也是

挂好那些灯之后

你要找个人坐在他旁边

有一个问题就是

There is a question that is

譬如你的戏如果是连续做四五天的话

For example, if your show runs for four or five days in a row.

你可能做到第三天

You might be able to make it to the third day.

他就换了第二个人当监

He replaced him with another person as the supervisor.

又要重新合作

Once again, we need to collaborate.

又要重新来过

Have to start over again.

有点麻烦了

A bit troublesome.

所以他们就取消了大东电报局的合同

So they canceled the contract with the Dandong Telegraph Bureau.

于是就交给大会堂自己负责

So it was handed over to the auditorium to be managed by itself.

那时候开始那些人就可以自己去教

At that time, those people could start teaching themselves.

还有初时又不是电脑

It wasn't a computer in the beginning either.

不是电脑控制的

It is not controlled by a computer.

变成更加复杂

Become more complicated.

你推慢一点推快一点都不同

If you push a little slower or a little faster, it's still different.

那个效果出来的效果都不同

The effects produced are all different.

后来改了电脑之后

After changing the computer.

你设好电脑可以快很多

You can speed things up a lot by setting up the computer properly.

还有准确很多

There is still a lot of accuracy.

不过在这五十年间

However, in the past fifty years

我印象中大会堂好像都没有什么很大型的改动

I seem to remember that there haven't been any major changes to the auditorium.

在这五十年间其实他的演出场地

Over the past fifty years, his performance venues...

依然都保持着他的水准

He still maintains his standard.

他试过有一个年度想拆

He tried to have an annual desire to dismantle.

但是考虑几样东西

But considering a few things.

一是拆完它起过

First, take it apart and then it can be reused.

一是拆部分看看怎么再起过

First, dismantle part of it to see how to redo it.

一是就只是换一些椅子

One is just to change some chairs.

换一些里面某些装饰这样

Change some of the decorations inside like this.

一些小小的改良

结果取了第三个选择

所以变成现在这样

一直流传到现在

另外一个大会堂对香港喜剧的帮助很大

就是我记得好像在七十年代

他负责大会堂的管理的时候

When he was in charge of the management of the auditorium.

他就和剧界

合作搞了一个一元票价的演出

We organized a performance with a ticket price of one yuan.

一宣布了之后

很多人去排队

很多的观众都可以有机会

可以接触到画剧

这个也是对画剧界的推动是

当时是很有效力的

譬如我自己参加过

也都试过参加这个活动

做了一齣戏一元

突然间停电

台上台下都害怕

Both on stage and off stage, everyone is afraid.

观众已经进场了

The audience has already taken their seats.

等开幕

Wait for the opening.

结果停电

As a result, the power went out.

停电

结果我找一位演员出来宣布

As a result, I found an actor to come out and announce.

说因为机器问题停电

Said it was a power outage due to machine problems.

所以希望大家忍耐一下

So I hope everyone can be patient.

简直一忍

Simply忍。

忍整个小时才能做回

Endure for a whole hour to return to normal.

都忍

Endure it all.

但是没有一个观众离开

But not a single audience member left.

那就是变成

That is to become.

你看到观众多忍耐

You see how patient the audience is.

多想看戏

I really want to watch a play.

还有很有礼貌

Also very polite.

一点都没有吵

Not noisy at all.

一点都没有响声

Not a sound was heard at all.

没有说这么久

Haven't said this for so long.

没有抱怨

No complaints.

这是一个很难得的一次经验

This is a rare experience.

那时大约哪一年

我不是认真记得

I don't seriously remember.

是香港话的团做小城风光

It is a group from Hong Kong doing the scenery of a small town.

好像是八十年代

It seems to be the 1980s.

不过真的现在

我知道剧院要订场都很难订

I know it's very hard to book a venue at the theater.

因为很多的剧团都看准这个地方

Because many theater troupes have set their sights on this place.

都想在那里有演出

Everyone wants to have a performance there.

未来都知道在大会堂

The future is known in the assembly hall.

也有King Sir的演出

就是你和施琦姐合作的《金池塘》

甚至有一次看到

還是大電視

根本我們電視機都沒有

一個少女摸著白貓

我很記得在大學堂那裏
