嘉峪关市,位于甘肃省河西走廊中段

嘉峪关的意思,是一条路

The meaning of Jiayuguan is "a road."

是美好的山谷,是古斯丑之路的交通窑冲

It is a beautiful valley, a transportation kiln of the ancient Gushi ugly road.

我现在正在嘉峪关,明代万里长城西端的起点

I am currently in Jiayuguan, the starting point of the western end of the Great Wall from the Ming Dynasty.

这里也是古代斯丑之路的交通要塞

This is also a交通 hub of the ancient Silk Road.

关城环绕了戈壁沙漠,地势险要

The city of Guan is surrounded by the Gobi Desert, with a perilous terrain.

在历史上被称为天下第一宏观

嘉峪关,是明代长城西端的第一种关

Jiayuguan is the first pass at the western end of the Great Wall from the Ming Dynasty.

始建于明洪武五年,历时168年

Founded in the fifth year of the Hongwu era of the Ming dynasty, it took 168 years to complete.

在1540年建成元宫

The Yuan Palace was completed in 1540.

与万里以外的东端山海关遥遥相对

Facing the Shanhaiguan on the eastern end, thousands of miles away.

我刚才上了去上面的城墙,往下看

就是那些,他们一个个士兵会站在那边看着

It’s those, the soldiers will stand there watching one by one.

可能他们其实是挂着那些家人的

Perhaps they are actually hanging those family members.

所以我突然间觉得有点悲伤

So I suddenly feel a bit sad.

还有我真的很不希望再有战争出现

I really hope there won't be any more wars.

但是历史好像是会不断重演的

But history seems to keep repeating itself.

嘉峪关上的战事

The battles at Jiayuguan.

曾经为保卫国土而争战连连

Once fought tirelessly to defend the homeland.

如果说战争造就了万里长城

If we say that war created the Great Wall.

那么嘉峪关就见证了历史的循环

Then Jiayuguan witnessed the cycle of history.

和兴衰

And rise and fall.

葡萄美酒夜光杯,肉饮琵琶马上吹

Grape wine in a luminous cup, meat and music from the pipa played on horseback.

这两句就是唐代诗人王瀚的作品

These two lines are from the work of the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Han.

里面提到的夜光杯

The luminous cup mentioned inside.

其实就是指在嘉峪关附近的酒泉夜光杯

It actually refers to the Jiuquan luminous cup near Jiayuguan.

那我现在再探访一下他的传承人

在酒泉土生土长

20岁开始学习夜光杯雕

夜光杯已经有二千几年历史

The night light cup has a history of over two thousand years.

据东方朔在海内十周记记载

According to the records of Dongfang Shuo in the Chronicles of the Ten Journeys Abroad.

西周时西回献夜光常满杯

During the Western Zhou period, Xi Hui presented a luminous cup that was always full.

杯是白玉之精,光彩夜照

The cup is the essence of white jade, its brilliance shines through the night.

而夜光杯历来都是珍贵的朝廷贡品

The luminous cup has always been a valuable tribute to the court.

那究竟夜光杯是不是真的会夜夜生光的呢

So does the nightlight cup really glow every night?

夜光杯本身不会发光的

The luminous cup itself does not glow.

它的彩影是七天山的一种玉石

Its colored shadow is a type of jade from the Qitian Mountain.

我们叫七天玉

We call it Seven Days Jade.

它是用石棍打磨而成的

It is made by being polished with a stone stick.

夜光杯之所以命名

是因为古人倾酒入杯

It is because the ancients poured wine into the cup.

对月影照

杯壁反光

The wine and colors shine together.

玉色透明鲜亮

Jade-colored, transparent, and bright.

杯内水若明月

The water in the cup is like a bright moon.

呈现奇光异彩

闪闪发亮而得名

Named for its sparkling brilliance.

七天玉玉石分开了几种玉

In seven days, several types of jade have been separated.

有什么特别呢

What's so special?

七天玉它是产自七天山的

Qitian jade is produced from Qitian Mountain.

海拔四千多米的高度

An altitude of more than 4,000 meters.

这个玉就是独特的作用

This jade has a unique function.

比较独特

它是天然花瓣

It is natural flower petals.

里面是不含矿质性元素

现在敦煌古城已经不再存在

其实生命就是一个又一个的循环

现在即是过去的将来

而将来亦都会变成过去

其实这里也有一些很小的洞窟

即是藏经洞

It is the Cave of Scriptures.

里面放满由三国魏晋

Inside is filled with the Three Kingdoms Wei and Jin.

至北宋时期的

经卷文物五万多件

More than 50,000 pieces of ancient texts and artifacts.
