跟我們說了一些他小時候在荷蘭生活的漫畫的際遇

He told us some stories about his experiences with comics while living in the Netherlands as a child.

那你之後又怎樣開始慢慢投入了這個藝術工作

So how did you gradually get involved in this artistic work afterwards?

成為這個職業的呢

我記得當時我讀完書畢業

我想找工作做的

I want to find a job.

但是我記得當時其實

我記得那時候的心態其實是

我是很想畫漫畫或者畫插畫之類工作的

I really want to work in drawing comics or illustrations.

很多都是的

小時候看漫畫

大過頭幾份工作都想找這些行線的

After leaving my last few jobs, I want to find work in these fields.

但是因為

其實荷蘭畫漫畫的機會其實不是那麼多的

Actually, there aren't that many opportunities to draw comics in the Netherlands.

其實很多漫畫書的

作者其實他們都是畫一些類似廣告

The authors are actually creating works similar to advertisements.

接著再是另外一半就畫漫畫

就很副業了這件事

是呀因為漫畫不是說賺到錢

其實是因為他們漫畫其實是基本上是每賣一本書

變了就是說他們都要有個正職來支撐著他

我那時候我記得我是問我老師說

還有香港我記得那時候的漫畫是很蓬勃的

所以就跟父母說

我想回香港找工作

但是你夠膽的嗎

你四五歲已經在荷蘭開始慢慢定居的生活

其實你對香港的印象很模糊的

是呀沒有朋友在香港有很多東西都不懂

你那時候也有這麼大的決心嗎

因為你也要工作的

跟父母慢慢地說

最初他們都很反對

人又不懂

還有你又沒有在香港做過事

但是後來都

過幾年也不行了

你就回來吧

然後自己就回到香港了

Then I went back to Hong Kong by myself.

那時候一來到香港也挺困難的

At that time, it was quite difficult to arrive in Hong Kong.

一來又沒有什麼朋友

二來又對香港的市場又不是那麼了解

Secondly, there is also a lack of understanding of the Hong Kong market.

其實那段時間萬事起頭難

Actually, that period was difficult to get started.

就真的比較辛酸

你那時候又怎樣處理呢

How did you handle it back then?

其實那時候我記得找工作找了很久

我記得都周圍去投稿

都沒有人聘請

後來我記得是

我入了一間出版社

就一直開始了現在的藝術生涯了

因為我做了其實都做了不太久

做了兩年左右我就走了

但那時候你是不是想著純粹學東西

But at that time, were you simply thinking about learning things?

還是還是都仍然是心急想有自己的東西畫出來

Still, I'm still eager to have my own things to draw.

其實我打算可以做主筆的

Actually, I plan to be the chief writer.

通常沒那麼快的

都要你由低做起

You have to start from the bottom.

捱一下學一下的

但我不知道

我打算就是入到去

I plan to just go in.

可以做主筆的

那我就立刻入了去做

Then I will go in and do it immediately.

那你捱了兩年就出來了

So you endured it for two years before coming out.

其實我給自己一個時間

Actually, I set a time for myself.

試一試

Give it a try.

不過真的學了很多東西

But I've really learned a lot.

但是做了一段時間發覺

But after doing it for a while, I realized...

不是自己

Not oneself.

就是想要的東西來的

What I wanted has arrived.

後來我就走了

Later, I left.

那到現在你找到一些自己很想很想做的

So have you found something that you really, really want to do now?

我找到是呀

I found it, yes.

其實現在是其中一種我想做的工作

Actually, this is one of the types of work I want to do now.

你才真真正正找到自己想做的東西

其實後來我

我記得我沒有做

我在香港也做了一些插畫的工作

I also did some illustration work in Hong Kong.

我幫網站畫了一些漫畫

I drew some comics for the website.

其實是千禧年

做了也做了一段期間

後來我記得我現在的太太

當時女朋友

At that time, my girlfriend.

她住在比利時的

She lives in Belgium.

我經常過去探望她

後來我記得有一次過去

我記得有一個朋友

I remember a friend.

她是在兒童出版社工作的

She works at a children's publishing house.

問我有沒有興趣畫這個兒童插圖

Ask me if I'm interested in drawing this children's illustration.

叫我試試

反正我也很喜歡畫兒童畫

Anyway, I really enjoy drawing children's art too.

就開始了

It just started.

其實也不容易的

It's actually not easy.

當年一個小夥子畢業出來

A young man graduated back then.

想穿著花想畫漫畫

I want to wear flowers and draw comics.

到今時今日

Up to today.

算事業有成

Achieve success in one's career.

我們也不敢說太大

We also don’t dare to say too much.

其實也真的要經歷很多

In fact, one really has to go through a lot.

一直以來會不會有什麼趣事呢

Has there always been any interesting stories?

這麼多年的畫畫生涯裏面

In all these years of my painting career

趣事呀

我想是

不斷被人改稿

Constantly having drafts revised by others.

其實是

Continuously being affected by others.

譬如我畫一隻

For example, I draw a...

要我畫一隻貓

You want me to draw a cat.

他們說這隻貓好像日本動畫的貓

They said this cat looks like a cat from Japanese animation.

說我像是

"Say I am like..."

他們說可能要畫一隻真貓

They said they might need to draw a real cat.

你變成畫了很宮崎駿的樣子

You have become drawn in a style very reminiscent of Hayao Miyazaki.

沒錯

That's right.

他們叫我做的東西

The things they asked me to do.

可能我是做了另外一樣東西出來

Perhaps I have created something else.

但其實也挺難平衡的

But it's actually quite hard to balance.

因為這是很主觀的

Because this is very subjective.

我自己覺得是拍手掌的事
