今次雪灾对灾民的影响

The impact of this snow disaster on the victims.

远比我们想象中严重

Far more serious than we imagined.

我们去到湘西山区一些农民那里

We went to some farmers in the mountainous region of Xiangxi.

我们探访了一位农民

We visited a farmer.

他姓魏 是一条村的村长

His surname is Wei, and he is the village chief of a village.

魏伯伯在去年六月的时候

Uncle Wei in June of last year

被一次大洪水

A great flood occurred.

冲毁了他和其他村民的玉米田

Destroyed his and other villagers' cornfields.

但是魏伯伯他没有灰心

But Uncle Wei did not lose heart.

他号召所有的村民改种红薯

He called on all the villagers to switch to growing sweet potatoes.

因为红薯的收成期比较晚

Because the harvest time for sweet potatoes is relatively late.

到十一二月左右才会有收成

The harvest will not come until around November or December.

所以七月种这些红薯就最适合

So it's most suitable to plant these sweet potatoes in July.

于是全村的村民

Then the villagers of the whole village

就跟着魏伯伯去改种红薯

Just follow Uncle Wei to plant sweet potatoes.

但是一个月之后

But a month later.

当红薯的苗开始出斗的时候

When the sweet potato sprouts start to emerge.

有一次的大洪水

A great flood that happened once.

把所有的红薯苗都冲毁了

All the sweet potato seedlings were washed away.

全村的村民都很失望

All the villagers in the village are very disappointed.

但是魏伯伯他不灰心

But Uncle Wei is not discouraged.

他跟村民说

He talked to the villagers.

他说

He said.

那天不给路我们

That day, they didn't give us the way.

我们自己开

We drive ourselves.

于是他们改种那些能够对抗水冲的金骨树

So they changed to planting the golden-bone trees that can withstand water erosion.

他们以为这次可以安枕无忧

They thought they could sleep soundly this time.

但是这次五十年一遇的冰雪

But this time, the once-in-fifty-years snow and ice.

不单止气温低

Not only is the temperature low.

时间还长

There is still plenty of time.

有二十多天

More than twenty days.

高山的地方甚至三十多天

In high mountain places, it can even take more than thirty days.

天天都是在零下四五度

Every day is at minus four or five degrees.

全村所有的金骨树都冻死了

All the golden bone trees in the village have died from the frost.

所有的村民都去本无归

All the villagers went to nowhere in particular.

还因为短时间之内

Also because within a short period of time.

连续遭受两次天灾

Continuous suffering from two natural disasters.

令到这一班本来已经贫穷的农民

Causing this group of already impoverished farmers

更加家当全无

More wealth completely gone.

一无所有

Having nothing at all.

但是魏伯伯他仍然很坚强

But Uncle Wei is still very strong.

他告诉我们

He told us.

他说现在全村的蓝丁都出去工作

He said that now all the villagers are out working.

留下一些妇女在这里

Leave some women here.

去看守他们的农田

Go guard their farmland.

和一些新的金骨树苗

And some new golden-boned saplings.

希望三年之后

Hope three years later.

他们能够再有收成

They are able to have another harvest.

但是很多农民

But many farmers

因为没了钱

Because there is no money left.

已经没能力再买这些树苗

I can no longer afford to buy these saplings.

这次雪灾对很多贫穷的农民

This snow disaster has affected many poor farmers.

有一些很毁灭性

There are some very destructive things.

和结构性的损害

and structural damage

一些果树

Some fruit trees

甚至泥土里面的生物

Even the creatures in the soil.

好像幽隐这些昆虫

It seems that these insects are hidden.

冻死了

Frozen to death.

要一段很长的时间

It will take a long time.

这些泥土才能够恢复

Only this soil can be restored.

我们说的可能是三年五年

What we are talking about may be three years or five years.

而在未来的三年到五年里面

In the next three to five years.

将会是这班农民的最艰难的时候

It will be the most difficult time for this group of farmers.

请帮助这班勤劳

Please help this hardworking class.

但是又不幸的雪灾灾民

But unfortunately, the victims of the snow disaster.
