We starten deze podcast met mijn favoriete plaat en ook een plaat waardoor ik heel graag naar Cuba wil.

We start this podcast with my favorite record and also a record that makes me really want to go to Cuba.

Want daar gaat deze podcast over. Ton en ik reisden in januari af naar het prachtige Cuba.

Het coronavirus is gewoon een feit en Nederland is voor een groot deel in een lockdown.

Ja, en Cuba is natuurlijk dé plek, buitenslijk als het gaat om salsa, Latijns-Amerikaanse muziek.

Wat me daarop viel, is niet alleen muziek, maar ook gewoon de levendigheid van de mensen, juist in een systeem die dat er ook wel een beetje uit lijkt te slaan.

Dus iedereen is een radertje.

So everyone is a cog.

Echt uitblinken kan je niet als je in zo'n soort overheidsbaantje daar werkt.

You can't really shine if you work in a job like that in the government.

Maar, nou, dan zie je toch in restaurants en barretjes, op muzikaal gebied, echt hele bijzondere dingen gebeuren.
