This is a person who has been brought down to the ground.
She once started as a psychiatric nurse and has worked for years at various mental health organizations.
Daarna is ze weer gaan studeren.
After that, she went back to studying.
She graduated cum laude in organizational sciences from Tilburg University.
Daar heeft ze gewerkt als promovendus.
There she worked as a PhD candidate.
But she has also experienced setbacks and finding a new balance after being disqualified from work.
She then started working as a volunteer in the mental health care system.
In that capacity, she has become the initiator and project leader of the training program Viewed Positively.
She secured funding to develop this and also won the Planeswee Award for it.
Voor mij is Marion een echte held.
To me, Marion is a true hero.
Especially her perseverance, her immense resilience, and the hard work with which she continually takes one step further.
I am really looking forward to having this conversation with her.
And to be able to zoom in on the training program she has developed.
En ik met jou Wanda.
And I with you Wanda.
Ik ken Marion nog niet zo goed.
I don't know Marion very well yet.
But the moment I met her, her drive struck me.
And especially on how much she wants to contribute to the improvement of care for people.
And truly with the focus on the customer, the client, the patient.
Dus welkom Marion.
So welcome, Marion.
Heel fijn dat je er bent.
So nice that you're here.
You are a person with many talents.
And you are now also committed to talent development.
Waar komt dat vandaan? Wat beweegt jou?
Where does that come from? What drives you?
Yes, I indeed started as a nurse in psychiatry.
En daar heb ik toch wel...
And there I do have...
Ja, dat is een virus voor mij.
Yes, that's a virus for me.
There I lost my heart to the mental health care.
Wat beweegt mij?
What motivates me?
That's a tricky question to start with.
Ik doe het werk heel graag.
I really enjoy the work.
En ik heb hele bijzondere mensen ontmoet.
And I have met very special people.
Zeker cliënten.
Sure clients.
En hele bevlogen collega's.
And a whole bunch of passionate colleagues.
For me, mental health care is really my baby.
Waar ik me graag voor inzet.
What I am passionate about.
And where I also see the possibilities for many improvements.
Okay, and where does that improvement lie?
Is dat...
Is that...
Yes, that is the case on many levels.
Als ik terugdenk.
When I think back.
Actually, I encountered the same issues as a nurse and later as a client.
Dat begint dat ik merk...
That starts with me noticing...
Ik zal er wat anders bij vertellen.
I will tell you something else about it.
I noticed that I was approached differently as a nurse.
Soms door dezelfde mensen.
Sometimes by the same people.
Dan later als ik cliënt was.
Then later when I was a client.
Terwijl ik als persoon niks veranderd was.
While I as a person had changed nothing.
I believe that there is still a lot to gain in the relationship between professional and client.
I believe that a more equal collaboration should emerge there.
Where the experiential knowledge of the client is also taken into account.
And the direction also lies more with the client.
Okay, because you are committed to a positive perspective.
At this moment, that is something you have to devote a lot of time and attention to, I think.
Ja.
Yes.
And that is completely based on positive psychology, right?
Ja.
Yes.
Dus is dat wat je ook bedoelt?
So is that what you mean too?
Is it very important to you that positive psychology is a foundation?
Or are you more looking for an atmosphere of equality?
Kun je daar eens wat over vertellen?
Can you tell me something about that?
Yes, when you look at traditional psychology...
Then you see that the focus is mainly on what is not going well.
And I have also noticed from my own experience...
that at the moment I became a client in mental health care...
that my focus increasingly shifted to what was not going well.
And that was not positive for my self-image and my self-worth.
Positive psychology, in addition to traditional psychology...
because I think it complements a few perfectly...
"Who looks at what is going well."
And it looks at what talents and what qualities you have.
And how can you develop that into strengths?
And I personally find that a beautiful approach...
of which I think there should be much more attention within mental healthcare.
Yes, and is that also the case as a nurse back then?
Did you already encounter that in your training?
Or was that something you only came to realize later...
van goh, dit vind ik belangrijk?
Well, I find this important?
No, I didn't learn that during the training...
I should mention that I completed the training between '92 and '95.
Dus dat is al even geleden.
So that was quite some time ago.
At that time, there was no talk of positive psychology yet.
Dus nee, dat heb ik niet meegekregen.
So no, I didn't receive that.
I became acquainted with it when I started university.
Ik was als psychiatrisch verpleegkundige ziek geworden.
I became ill as a psychiatric nurse.
Met name angst.
Namely fear.
En depressie.
And depression.
Ik ben ook afgekeurd.
I have also been rejected.
Dat heb ik geweigerd.
I have refused that.
And then I retrained through Tilburg University...
to organizational sciences that we discussed earlier.
And I have specialized in care and welfare within that study.
And there I came into contact with positive psychology.
And I was already very excited about it then.
Yes, because I think you have to look at the whole person.
And yes, that is more than the illness, the limitation, or the diagnosis.
En is dat nou ook dan...
And is that the case then...
I actually started our conversation with God, what drives you, huh?
So now I actually feel that the motivation lies in...
in helping people to be able to do it themselves.
En vanuit de kast die ze hebben.
And from the closet that they have.
Klopt dat?
Is that correct?
Yes, and I have noticed that as a nurse.
For the goal is to make yourself redundant.
And I have always kept that in the back of my mind.
That I think, yes, we are not important at all.
The client is important, and they must ultimately be able to do it themselves again.
And if you take a look at what you're currently doing, viewed positively...
How does that fit into the mental health landscape in your opinion?
Wat mij betreft heel goed.
As far as I'm concerned, very good.
And fortunately, there is also increasing attention for it.
Ja.
Yes.
Because we have the time on our side now.
Can you tell me, what is viewed positively?
Nou, positief bekeken is een training...
Well, viewed positively, a training...
waarbij deelnemers samen met ervaringsdeskundige trainers...
where participants work together with experienced trainers...
they are going to rediscover, develop, and also utilize their talents.
And that is based on a literature review after positive psychology.
So that is really a scientific basis underlying that.
And it is a training for people with a psychological vulnerability...
zoals dat dan zo mooi heet.
as that is so beautifully called.
But I think it's a training that would actually be suitable for everyone.
The nice thing is that I myself during the development of the training...
I have noticed that I have also been sitting on my strengths.
That I even had talents or qualities...
that I sometimes didn't even know I had, I was also able to develop.
En daar ben ik verschrikkelijk van opgebloeid.
And I have blossomed terribly from that.
How wonderful, because you truly dedicate yourself with your talents…
om dit programma ook kenbaar te maken.
to make this program known as well.
And to bring it to attention.
What are your goals? What are your goals as a team regarding positive perspectives?
I will start with the purpose of the training.
The goal of the training is to promote well-being...
empowerment.
empowerment.
En veerkracht.
And resilience.
Onze doelen zijn eigenlijk heel simpel.
Our goals are actually very simple.
Wij gunnen deze training zoveel mogelijk mensen.
We want as many people as possible to benefit from this training.
And that is why we offer it to him at cost.
En jullie bieden hem aan. Wat houdt dat in?
And you are offering it to him. What does that mean?
Are you with a team of people who provide the training?
Ja, wij hebben een hele mooie website...
Yes, we have a very beautiful website...
waar verschillende mensen opzitten.
where different people are sitting.
Dat is www.positiefbekeken.nl
That is www.positiefbekeken.nl
Daar zitten ervaringsdeskundige trainers bij.
There are experienced trainers present.
Daar zit ik zelf bij als projectleider.
I myself am involved as project leader.
Daar zit Eline Nievers bij.
Eline Nievers is sitting there.
He has a background as a doctor in social sciences.
Die neemt het wetenschappelijk stuk.
That takes the scientific part.
Ik moet heel even kuggen.
I just need to cough for a moment.
Excuse.
Excuse.
Ik neem Edith een slokje drinken.
I’ll get Edith a drink.
Dus die neemt het wetenschappelijk stuk.
So that one takes the scientific part.
I also applied for the grant together with her.
En de Plaintree Award.
And the Plaintree Award.
And the subsidy Wanda has still looked over with us.
Which we are still very happy with.
Dus daar ken ik Wanda ook van.
So that's where I know Wanda from.
En verder zijn het ervaringsdeskundige trainers.
And furthermore, they are trainers with experiential expertise.
En is het een training die...
And is it a training that...
if I would like to make use of it...
dan kan ik naar positiefbekeken.nl?
Then I can go to positiefbekeken.nl?
Ja.
Yes.
And can I get confirmation about what the training entails?
And can I use it as well?
Kan ik me opgeven bijvoorbeeld?
Can I sign up, for example?
Ja, absoluut.
Yes, absolutely.
Oké.
Okay.
En hoe ziet zo'n training eruit?
And what does such a training look like?
Is het online?
Is it online?
Is het fysiek?
Is it physical?
Met hoeveel mensen is het?
How many people are there?
Ja, het zijn dertien groepsbijeenkomsten.
Yes, there are thirteen group meetings.
Dat is fysiek.
That is physical.
Het kan niet online.
It cannot be done online.
Oké.
Okay.
Die duren tweeëntwintig.
They last twenty-two.
Half an hour with a break of fifteen minutes.
Daarbij krijgt iedere deelnemer nog twee coachingsgesprekken individueel.
In addition, each participant will receive two individual coaching sessions.
And beforehand, we have an introductory meeting.
The nice thing is that we have run pilots of this training.
And that no one has been eliminated in those pilots.
Everyone has completed the training until the end.
Dat is fysiek.
That is physical.
Ja, dat vonden wij heel bijzonder.
Yes, we found that very special.
Dat vonden wij heel bijzonder.
We found that very special.
Certainly because there were also people with autism, which I also have, present.
And that, especially group meetings and group training sessions, doesn't always go well.
That is a well-known problem in mental healthcare, so to speak.
Dat mensen sneller uitvallen uit groepen.
That people drop out of groups more quickly.
That it can also be quite exciting.
Dat is hartstikke mooi.
That is really beautiful.
Jullie hebben ook de Plaintree Award gewonnen.
You have also won the Plaintree Award.
For those who don't know, could you briefly explain what Plaintree is?
En waarom hebben jullie de prijs gewonnen?
And why did you win the prize?
Ja, daar zijn we verschrikkelijk trots op.
Yes, we are terribly proud of that.
Because Plaintree stands for person-centered care in a healthy environment.
And that aligns so well with our training.
En wij zijn daarvoor gerealiseerd.
And we have been realized for that.
And indeed also won the Plaintree Project Award.
You also have other awards from Plaintree, but we won the Project Award.
And have thus been declared the best project in the Netherlands for people-oriented care in a healthy environment.
En daar zijn we heel trots mee.
And we are very proud of that.
Ja, fantastisch.
Yes, fantastic.
Nou weet je, het is natuurlijk...
Well you know, it is of course...
Ik heb een beetje jouw levensverhaal gehoord.
I've heard a bit of your life story.
You have indeed said that you have done various studies.
Je hebt veel...
You have a lot...
You have work experience, you also have experience as a client or patient in mental healthcare.
So you have had to reinvent yourself several times, so to speak.
And again I have to think about what my talents are.
Wat wil ik? Hoe kan ik bijdragen?
What do I want? How can I contribute?
And you have there with a lot of drive...
Ja, ben je steeds weer als een...
Yes, you always act like a...
Almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes, you could say.
Dank je wel.
Thank you.
Ja, zo...
Yes, like that...
Keek ik daarna.
I looked after that.
And then I thought, well, you do have quite a bit of experience with how difficult it can be.
And now also with an innovation like Positively Viewed.
Yes, to bring things to attention.
Can you tell me, what challenges are you facing now regarding Positief Bekeken?
Yes, what we noticed, we started at GGZ Eindhoven.
And there we noticed that it is quite difficult to secure the training within the organization.
En het declarabel te maken.
And to make it billable.
Dat waren zaken die lastig waren.
Those were matters that were difficult.
That's why we have decided to expand it independently from the mental health care system.
En dat gaat een heel stuk makkelijker.
And that makes it a lot easier.
Ja.
Yes.
Oké, want dat declarabel betekent eigenlijk...
Okay, because that billable actually means...
That you are not being guided by professionals in healthcare.
They may spend hours within a treatment to provide that training.
Klopt dat?
Is that correct?
Yes, last year we of course still dealt with DBCs until January 1 of this year.
Dat is nu vervangen door het zorgprestatiemodel.
That has now been replaced by the care performance model.
And yes, then you cannot be captured in a DBC because you are not a professional.
Maar zelfs voor ervaringsdeskundigen, opgeleide ervaringsdeskundigen.
But even for experts by experience, trained experts by experience.
Is dat vaak nog moeilijk.
Is that often still difficult?
That can often be registered, but not claimed.
And then you're inside a system that you cannot change.
And then it's, yes, choose your battles.
There are multiple ways that lead to Rome.
And that's why we have decided to continue independently.
And now under a foundation, in which we can get started.
En binnenkort...
And soon...
Hopefully with our own foundation, which is beginning to take shape in a very beautiful way.
Dat is hartstikke mooi.
That is really beautiful.
That actually means that you are saying that we as a foundation provide the training.
People can sign up for groups, as you just mentioned.
But are there other ways in which you are making your way to Rome?
So are there other ways in which you offer the training?
Of is het direct aan jou?
Or is it directly to you?
Vertel daar eens iets over.
Tell me something about that.
No, it is actually the case that this is the situation at the moment.
There are several organizations seriously interested in the training.
Willen hem ook inkopen.
Want to purchase him as well.
Zowel GGZ als buiten de GGZ.
Both within and outside of mental health care.
En in het sociaal domein.
And in the social domain.
Dat is de afgelopen week gebeurd.
That happened last week.
Dus dat wisten jullie ook nog niet.
So you didn't know that either.
Zijn we verschrikkelijk blij mee.
We are incredibly happy with it.
In that sense, as an organization, if you purchase it, you can also offer it cheaper again.
Want je hoeft geen locatie te huren.
Because you don't need to rent a location.
Dat is prettiger.
That's more pleasant.
And for individuals, it is still often quite a large amount.
Yes, and in that sense it is not yet insured care?
Nee, het is geen verzekerde zorg.
No, it is not covered healthcare.
It may be that people can compensate for it.
You could have it reimbursed by, for example, a labor expert at the municipality.
Of via het UWV.
Or via the UWV.
Daar zijn wij niet officieel bij aangesloten.
We are not officially affiliated with that.
But as a client, you can say that you want to participate in this training.
Kan dat vergoed worden?
Can that be reimbursed?
So there are indeed multiple ways to get to Rome.
Maar wij worden niet vergoed.
But we are not compensated.
Nee.
No.
Yes, you know, sometimes I think about it.
Ik weet hoe ongelooflijk kwalitatief hoogwaardig jullie werk is.
I know how incredibly high-quality your work is.
And your product, so to speak, is.
And it has really emerged from people on the side of care provision, on the side of needing care.
On the side of experience, how you can almost reinvent yourself.
And how you can get to know yourself better and work with your talent.
Hoe dat dat tot stand is gekomen.
How that came about.
Jullie hebben awards gewonnen.
You have won awards.
Jullie hebben subsidies gekregen van ZonMW.
You have received subsidies from ZonMW.
It is also scientifically very well put together.
Yes, I would like to say something about that if I may.
It is the case that there is already a complete research design in place.
Om het effect te onderzoeken.
To investigate the effect.
And that is a combination of quantitative and qualitative research.
Waarin we kijken, nou in hoeverre bevordert het inderdaad het welbevinden.
In what way are we looking at how it indeed promotes well-being?
Het persoonlijk welbevinden.
Personal well-being.
In hoeverre bevordert het het empowerment.
To what extent does it promote empowerment?
En hoe werkt dat dan?
And how does that work?
Dus ook die onderzoeksopzet is goed gekeurd.
So that research proposal has also been approved.
Through the scientific committee of the mental health care organization we were part of.
Dus ja, ook dat ligt klaar.
So yes, that is also ready.
That as the training progresses, is also a possibility that we keep in the back of our minds.
Ja, moet je eens kijken.
Yes, you should take a look.
So basically, all fields, so to speak, on all bases are covered.
Bijna, hè.
Almost, right?
And what I find beautiful about this training is that it has truly been developed by clients for clients.
And more bottom-up than this, I don't think you can get.
Nee, precies.
No, exactly.
Are there still frustrations that you encounter?
Just say it in the sense of, I notice in myself.
Let me just take it upon myself.
Ik merk aan mezelf.
I notice in myself.
Because I think, well, you know, this is such an interesting offer, so to speak.
I wish that a lot of people could make use of this.
Ja.
Yes.
So I sense in myself a desire to be able to help with that.
Well, by talking about this I hope to help a little bit, so to speak.
Are there other ways in which people can help to do this, well,
zoveel mogelijk mensen beschikbaar te krijgen?
to get as many people available as possible?
Oh, yes, that's a question I actually have in my mind.
Ja, dat kan.
Yes, that is possible.
We gaan nu de markt op.
We are going to the market now.
Dat gaat heel voorspoedig.
That is going very smoothly.
Daar zijn we heel dankbaar voor.
We are very grateful for that.
Maar we moeten ook goed geborgd worden.
But we also need to be well secured.
And then I return to the foundation.
And I would like to say a bit more about that.
What we aim to do with the foundation is to offer the training on a cost-covering basis.
But on the other hand, training experienced trainers to become trainers of our product.
Positief bekeken, ontdek en train je talenten.
Looking at it positively, discover and train your talents.
Als dat, dan wij kijken verder.
If that's the case, then we will look further.
If this training goes well, we would also like to have space within this foundation for new initiatives again.
Onder de paraplu van positief bekeken.
Under the umbrella of positive viewing.
And for this foundation, we are looking for a board and an advisory council.
And I already have a few people, but I can't say that yet.
Dus daarvoor moeten mensen mijn LinkedIn in de gaten houden.
So for that, people need to keep an eye on my LinkedIn.
Hartstikke mooi.
Absolutely beautiful.
So on your LinkedIn page it will be clear who will help shape that board.
I also hear you saying that it is possible to be trained as an expert by experience.
Als trainer.
As a trainer.
And care organizations or municipalities or social organizations that would be interested in your product.
Hoe komen die in contact met je?
How do they get in touch with you?
I must say that so far I am using my own network on LinkedIn.
Oké.
Okay.
And despite being rejected twice, I have never been able to say goodbye to my LinkedIn.
And I am very happy about that now.
And what I have done in the past, I identify a lot with my work.
I could be called a workaholic.
And I enjoyed doing that and did it with passion.
And I know a lot of people from that.
And it feels like I have sown my whole life now.
Because I kept working towards success every time.
En onder.
And under.
And that I am now harvesting within Positief Bekeken.
And it is heartwarming how many people are excited about this.
En ook een bijdrage willen leveren.
And also want to make a contribution.
Je kunt mij altijd bereiken via LinkedIn.
You can always reach me via LinkedIn.
Or through the website where an email address is listed.
info.positiefbekeken.nl
info.positivelyviewed.nl
Hartstikke mooi.
Absolutely beautiful.
Joh.
Joh.
En op een persoonlijke noot, zeg maar.
And on a personal note, let's say.
You mention that, well, I have also sometimes fallen due to my success.
Ja, inderdaad.
Yes, indeed.
And can you tell me something about that, what do you mean by it?
Oh ja, zeker.
Oh yes, certainly.
I became ill when I worked in psychiatry.
Ja.
Yes.
was mijn beeld ook
was my image too
vernauwd
narrowed
ik zag natuurlijk toch de wat zwaardere
I still saw the somewhat heavier one, of course.
gevallen
fallen
om het maar even zo te zeggen
just to put it that way
binnen een klinische setting
within a clinical setting
dat was geen realistisch beeld
that was not a realistic picture
van mensen met een psychische kwetsbaarheid
of people with a mental vulnerability
waarvan heel veel mensen heel succesvol zijn
of which many people are very successful
en prima functioneren
and function well
dus het zelfstigma
so the self-stigma
heb ik verschrikkelijk veel last van gehad
I have had an awful time with it.
I don't know how it would have turned out differently.
maar ik heb zelf de keuze gemaakt
but I made the choice myself
to avoid turning to mental health services
omdat ik
because I
toch ook wel heb gezien
yet also have seen
wat daar gebeurde
what happened there
ik praat inderdaad over 25 jaar geleden
I am indeed talking about 25 years ago.
laten we dat nog wel even benoemen
let's mention that again
en daar heel veel mooie dingen zag
and saw a lot of beautiful things there
maar ook minder mooie dingen
but also less beautiful things
en ook
and also
de angst had van
the fear had of
then it's a bit of game over
dus dat is er gebeurd
so that's what happened
ik ben afgekeurd
I have been rejected.
ik heb het geweigerd
I have refused it.
ik was 31
I was 31.
ik wilde absoluut niet thuis zitten
I absolutely did not want to stay at home.
I had no idea what to do at home.
ik ben vervolgens als
I then acted as
pitverpleegkundige aan de slag gegaan
started working as a pit nurse
bij GGZ Oost-Brabant
at GGZ East Brabant
binnen de bemoeizorgnetwerken
within the involvement care networks
en heb me dus
and have me thus
vervolgens
subsequently
met eigen financiën
with personal finances
ben ik de universiteit gaan doen
I am going to university.
ben ik met een colloquium binnengekomen
Did I enter with a colloquium?
daarvoor dank ik René Schalk
I thank René Schalk for that.
die het vertrouwen toen in mij had
who had trust in me then
dat ik binnen mocht
that I was allowed in
en toen ben ik gaan promoveren
And then I started to promote.
bij Transo
at Transo
en toen is het toch weer misgegaan
and then it went wrong again
dus er zat 10 jaar tussen
So there was 10 years in between.
ik heb het 10 jaar volgehouden
I have held out for 10 years.
en toen is het weer misgegaan
and then it went wrong again
eigenlijk met dezelfde klachten
actually with the same complaints
ik ben toen
I was then
dus al op latere leeftijd
so at a later age
gediagnosticeerd met Asperger
diagnosed with Asperger's
en trauma
and trauma
en toen ben ik
and then I am
toch in behandeling gegaan
still under consideration
bij een GGZ
at a mental health organization
want het voordeel van een diagnose
because the benefit of a diagnosis
is
is
it is somewhat easier to explain to the people
wat er aan de hand is
what is going on
en je bent declareerbaar
and you are reimbursable
je past in een DBC
you fit in a DBC
en dan krijg je wel hulp
and then you will get help
wat heel lastig is zonder diagnose
what is very difficult without a diagnosis
en ik hoop dat het
and I hope that it
zorgprestatiemodel daar
care performance model there
and I really do have hope for that
meer kijk naar klachten
more look at complaints
dan naar diagnostiek
then to diagnostics
but in my time it was like this still
je moest een diagnose hebben
you had to have a diagnosis
and then you can go to the mental health services.
dus zo gezegd, zo gedaan
so said, so done
ja
yes
en dan zie je inderdaad
and then you indeed see
hoe positief bekeken ook eigenlijk
how positive it is actually viewed
onderdeel is van misschien wel een nieuwe
part of perhaps a new one
kijk op hoe je mensen helpt
Look at how you help people.
om
to
te helpen
to help
nou ja, gewoon
well, just
goed in het leven te staan
to stand well in life
en stevig te staan
and to stand firm
ik hoor jou eigenlijk zeggen van
I actually hear you saying that
I did know a number of my talents.
daar ben ik mee verder gegaan
I have continued with that.
dus je zei van
so you said about
dat dat afgekeurd zijn
that it has been rejected
of worden en dan vervolgens
or become and then subsequently
ja, eigenlijk achter de geraniums
yes, actually behind the geraniums
terechtkomen
to end up
that was something you absolutely didn't want
en je gebruikte talenten
and you used talents
die je bij jezelf misschien wel kende
that you might have recognized in yourself
or that you have discovered in any case
daarna kreeg je ook vertrouwen
then you also gained confidence
en had je vertrouwen
and did you have confidence
so I hear you describing that a bit
ja
yes
kun je eens iets vertellen
Can you tell me something?
over hoe dat
about how that
zeg maar werkt
Just say it works.
voor mensen die positief bekeken
for people who viewed positively
hebben doorlopen
have gone through
hoe leren jullie
How do you learn?
hoe leer je eigenlijk je talenten kennen
How do you actually get to know your talents?
ja, nou er zijn verschillende vormen voor
Yes, well, there are different forms for that.
we gebruiken verschillende vormen
we use different forms
we gebruiken vragenlijsten
we use questionnaires
we gebruiken de techniek van waarderend interviewen
we use the technique of appreciative interviewing
we gebruiken verschillende spelvormen
we use different game formats
we gebruiken
we use
verschillende oefeningen
various exercises
vanuit de positieve psychologie
from positive psychology
allemaal zaken die
all things that
best practices
best practices
die zichzelf al eerder bewezen hebben
those who have already proven themselves
daarbij heb je natuurlijk
of course you have that
het groepsproces
the group process
wat enorm toevoegt
what adds enormous value
dat je in een groep zit
that you are in a group
dat mensen ook elkaar aanvullen
that people also complement each other
en spiegelen
and mirror
en dat je ook
and that you also
een soort van
a kind of
dus zo gaan we om
so this is how we do it
met het ontdekken van de kanten
with the discovery of the lace
and I would also like to say something about
hoe we die dan daadwerkelijk inzetten
how we will actually implement that
en dat doen we
and we do that
naar aanleiding van de welbevinden theorie
in response to the well-being theory
van Martin Seligman
from Martin Seligman
dat is een theorie
that is a theory
die vijf pijlers aandaat
those five pillars indicate
en
and
Martin Seligman geeft aan
Martin Seligman indicates
als je op die vijf pijlers
if you focus on those five pillars
invulling hebt binnen je
you have fulfillment within you
in your life, then you have the greatest
kans op een optimaal welbevinden
chance of optimal well-being
vroeger heette het de gelukstheorie
It used to be called the theory of happiness.
maar die term
but that term
is dan gewijzigd
has been changed
weet jij zo die vijf pijlers
Do you know those five pillars?
uit je hand?
out of your hand?
ja zeker
yes certainly
ja hoor, dat is het plezierige leven
Yes, that is the enjoyable life.
het betrokken leven
the engaged life
het zinvolle leven
the meaningful life
het aangaan van relaties
entering into relationships
en het bereiken van doelen
and achieving goals
god wat mooi
God, how beautiful.
en als je nou eens kijkt naar
and if you now look at
nou ja
well then
waar we het straks over gehad hebben
what we talked about earlier
eigenlijk over de gelukkige leven
actually about the happy life
over jouw eigen reis
about your own journey
in je leven
in your life
en hoe jij
and how you
aan het bijdragen bent
are contributing
Can you tell us something about those five pillars?
en jouw werk
and your work
And how do you view life now?
ja zeker
yes certainly
nee, voor mij is het
no, for me it is
heel erg belangrijk als mens
very important as a person
dat ik nut heb
that I have value
het ergste in
the worst in
periodes van depressie en angst
periods of depression and anxiety
vond ik mijn eigen nutteloosheid
found my own uselessness
dat
that
ik wil toch graag
I still would like to.
wat bijdragen
what contributions
and I think that every person has that
misschien wat extremer
maybe a bit more extreme
maar voor mij is dat heel belangrijk
but for me that is very important
dus een zinvol leven
so a meaningful life
door het ontwikkelen van de training
by developing the training
het besef van
the awareness of
deze training kan zoveel mensen helpen
this training can help so many people
dat gaf voor mij
that gave for me
absoluut invulling
absolute fulfillment
aan een zinvol leven
to a meaningful life
het gaf ook invulling
it also provided substance
aan een betrokken leven
to an engaged life
want
want
ik heb een zinvol leven
I have a meaningful life.
ik werk met mijn hart
I work with my heart.
en ook wel vanuit
and also from
I identify very much with what I do.
en ik kwam echt in mijn flow
and I really got into my flow
en het zitten in je flow
and being in your flow
is de essentie van een betrokken leven
is the essence of an engaged life
waarbij bij een zinvol leven
wherein a meaningful life
The essence is that you feel like you are a part of it.
van een groter geheel
of a larger whole
en voor mij was het afkeuren
and for me, it was the rejection
daarmee voelde ik me echt
that made me feel really
buiten de maatschappij gezet
excluded from society
en nu deed ik weer mee
and now I participated again
naar het aangaan
to the conclusion
van relaties
of relationships
I have always had a pretty good interpretation of that.
het bereiken van doelen
achieving goals
ja je hebt een half jaar
Yes, you have half a year.
voor een project
for a project
binnen de subsidie van Zon en Wee
within the subsidy of Sun and Wind
en na een half jaar
and after half a year
hadden we het werkboek af
did we finish the workbook
en ja dat was fantastisch
and yes that was fantastic
dat was fantastisch
that was fantastic
en dat voelt goed
and that feels good
even denken
just thinking
en ja plezier
and yes fun
ja
yes
ik denk als
I think if
als
if
als ik geen plezier heb
if I have no pleasure
in wat ik doe
in what I do
dan hou ik het ook niet vol
Then I won't last either.
ik vind het heel mooi
I think it's very beautiful.
om te horen
to hear
hoe jij
how you
met jouw verhaal
with your story
en met je persoonlijk verhaal
and with your personal story
maar ook met de wijsheid
but also with wisdom
die jij opgedaan hebt
that you have gained
gewoon in
just in
je hele reis eigenlijk
your entire journey actually
zoveel mensen probeert te helpen
so many people trying to help
en in dit gesprek ook
and in this conversation too
zo open deelt met ons
so openly shares with us
dat we ook
that we also
nou ja
well then
hoe jij erin staat
how you feel about it
en wat je te bieden hebt
and what you have to offer
en wat de training te bieden heeft
and what the training has to offer
to people who would like to make use of it
dat maakt jou
that makes you
inderdaad echt tot onze held
indeed really to our hero
nou zeg
well now
ja nee dat is zo
yes no that is so
je bent leeg ermee
you are empty with it
dat is helemaal niet nodig
that is not necessary at all
het is
it is
ik vraag maar even af
I just wonder.
zijn er mensen die jouw held zijn
Are there people who are your heroes?
ja
yes
de eerste waar ik aan denk
the first one I think of
is Joke Zwanenke-Leendes
is Joke Zwanenke-Leendes
die ken ik al heel lang
I've known him/her for a long time.
toen ik als leerling
when I was a student
verpleegkundige mijn dienst begon
nurse my shift started
and it was the day of nursing
stond Joke daar
Joke was standing there.
met vlijtige liesjes of kersen
with diligent little lilies or cherries
Joke was toen de tijd
Joke was then the time.
manager chronische zorg
chronic care manager
Joke is al onbekend
Joke is already unknown.
van de verwenzorg
of the pampering care
die zij op de kaart heeft
that she has on the map
gezet
set
maar wat voor mij
but what for me
de meeste indruk heeft gemaakt
made the biggest impression
is dat Joke mij
Is that Joke to me?
als verpleegkundige
as a nurse
als wetenschapper en als cliënt
as a scientist and as a client
altijd hetzelfde heeft benaderd
always approached the same way
en
and
dat doet
that does
verschrikkelijk goed
terribly good
dat doet verschrikkelijk goed
that does terribly good
en daarom is Joke onder meer
and that is why Joke is among others
mijn held
my hero
ik heb nog
I still have
ik heb nog meer helden
I have more heroes.
ik kan meer mensen
I can handle more people.
noemen
to name
in het laatste geval
in the last case
wil ik toch ook even noemen
I would like to mention as well.
Evelien Brouwers
Evelien Brouwers
van Transo
from Transo
die ben ik een keer tegengekomen
I once ran into that.
toen ik diep in een depressie zat
when I was deep in a depression
en die ben ik tegengekomen
and I came across that
op hoogtepunten
on highlights
en ook Evelien
and also Evelien
heeft mij altijd benaderd
has always approached me
niet anders
no other way
en dat
and that
is heel fijn
is very nice
het is voor mij heel
it is very much for me
pijnlijk geweest
been painful
om te merken dat
to notice that
vroegere collega's
former colleagues
ineens een professionele afstand
suddenly a professional distance
namen ten opzichte
names in relation to
from me at the moment that I a
diagnose had
diagnosis had
en
and
de mensen die dat niet hebben gedaan
the people who did not do that
dat zijn er nog veel meer
there are many more of them
but I do want to mention these two for a moment
en Joke zou het me niet vergeven
and Joke would not forgive me
if I didn't also mention her website
en dat is
and that is
www.verwensorg.nl
www.verwensorg.nl
want Joke doet het voor
because Joke does it for you
ook vanuit het goede hart
also from the good heart
en
and
het gaat niet om Joke
It's not about Joke.
maar het gaat om
but it's about
de mensen
the people
het gaat om de mensen zeg jij
It's about the people, you say.
en mensen zien
and see people
in hun rijkheid
in their wealth
de dingen die soms
the things that sometimes
pijnlijk of moeilijk zijn
to be painful or difficult
but also the things that are going very well
en die je bij kunt dragen
and that you can contribute to
that is something you are particularly dedicated to
je inspireert ons daarmee
you inspire us with that
ik wil je heel erg
I want you very much.
hartelijk danken voor dit prachtige
thank you very much for this wonderful
open gesprek
