En zelf heb ik dan gekozen voor een woning. Een woning die ik wel onwijs leuk vind.

Een dagbestedingencentra heb ik ook al eerder stage opgelopen.

Je bent eigenlijk natuurlijk ook gelijkwaardig.

Ik kijk een beetje naar mijn eigen leven.

En wat ik graag wil en hoe ik mijn leven graag wil leiden.

Ik probeer te kijken hoe zij dat ook willen.

En of ze een beetje op dezelfde normale manier hun leven kunnen leiden.

Ik wil graag persoonlijk begeleider worden.

Dat is eigenlijk het grootste doel wat er is.

Ik wil graag als persoonlijke begeleider dat je van een aantal bewoners...

I would like you to act as a personal guide for a number of residents...

dat je daar eigenlijk hun volledig helpt met alles waar ze hulp bij nodig hebben.

Dus dat je ook een soort aanspreekpunt bent voor zowel de bewoner als de familie van de bewoner.

En dat kan eigenlijk heel goed aansluiten op hetgene...

Moet jij als begeleiding de cliënt daarin stimuleren om dat dan te doen?

Of gaan ze dat vanzelf?

Ik denk dat het wel een beetje verschilt per stageplek waar je zit.

I think it does vary a bit depending on the internship location where you are.

De een zou het wat fijner vinden als wat leuker ervaren dan de ander.

One might find it a bit nicer if it is experienced as more fun than the other.

Maar waar ik momenteel stage loop, daar ervaart eigenlijk iedereen het wel eens leuk...

But where I am currently interning, everyone actually finds it enjoyable at times...

Dus er is altijd 24-7 wel begeleiding aanwezig op de woning.

So there is always supervision present at the residence 24/7.

En heb je zelf daar de vrije keuze in gehad?

Dus dat we ook willen kijken wanneer het meer nodig is als ik er ben.

And you get to know yourself better and better.

En uiteindelijk voel je het gewoon echt fijn om wat voor die mensen kunnen betekenen.

And in the end, you just really feel good about being able to mean something to those people.

Je helpt ze echt.

You really help them.

En je merkt die waardering uit dat ze ook gewoon...

And you can see that appreciation from the fact that they simply...

Ja, ze voelen zich gewoon prettiger bij.

Yes, they just feel more comfortable with it.

En dat merk je aan hun gedrag, aan wat ze zeggen.

And you can see that in their behavior, in what they say.

En dat geeft me gewoon een heel fijn gevoel dat ik er voor die mensen kan zijn op die manier.

And that just gives me a very nice feeling that I can be there for those people in that way.

Wat zie je dan bijvoorbeeld aan de cliënten?

What do you see in the clients, for example?

Nou, in het begin was het nog een beetje afstandelijk.

Well, at first it was still a bit distant.

Je leert elkaar kennen.

You get to know each other.

Hoe ziet de communicatie met deze bewoners er dan uit?

What does the communication with these residents look like?

Kunnen ze net als dat jij met je leeftijdsgenoten met elkaar praat, praat je op die manier met deze bewoners?

Can they talk to each other in the same way you talk with your peers?

Dat is heel verschillend tussen de bewoners.

That varies greatly among the residents.

Voor de ene bewoner is de andere bewoner niet daarin.

For one resident, the other resident is not in that.

Dus je zou dus ook echt je communicatie moeten aanpassen per bewoner.

So you would really need to adjust your communication for each resident.

Ik probeer wel zoveel mogelijk mezelf te zijn tijdens mijn werk.

I try to be as much myself as possible during my work.

Ik wil niet iemand anders voordoen die ik eigenlijk niet ben op mijn werk.

I don't want to pretend to be someone else that I'm not at work.

Ik wil dat ze kunnen zien wie ik ben.

I want them to be able to see who I am.

En dat ik echt degene die ze voorziet ook degene is die ze bevindt.

And that I really am the one who provides her is also the one who finds her.

Met vrienden heb je het wel eens over dingen wat eigenlijk voor bewoners totaal niet relevant is.

Dat zijn weer hele andere dingen heel belangrijk voor.

Maken jullie ook gebruik van methodieken op bepaalde begeleidingsmodellen met cliënten?

Do you also use methodologies based on certain guidance models with clients?

Ja, zeker.

Yes, certainly.

We gebruiken voor een aantal bewoners gebruik van picto's.

We use pictograms for a number of residents.

Dat zijn plaatjes die je eigenlijk op kan hangen op een pictobord.

Those are pictures that you can actually hang on a pictorial board.

Dat is een bord die hangt dan bij ons in de hal.

That is a sign that hangs in our hallway.

Van een aantal foto's erbij van bewoners.

Of a number of photos included of residents.

En daar staan activiteiten, plaatjes met activiteiten op.

And there are activities, pictures with activities on it.

Dus denk aan lunchen, ontbijten.

So think about lunch, breakfast.

Fietsen, avondeten.

Cycling, dinner.

Met de bus naar het dagbesteding.

By bus to the daytime activities.

You keep constantly repeating yourself to a resident.

En zo wordt de situatie duidelijker.

And so the situation becomes clearer.

Dus dat is een methodiek om eigenlijk lastige scenario's toch wat kleiner en duidelijker te maken voor de bewoner.

So that is a methodology to make difficult scenarios a bit smaller and clearer for the resident.

En waarom ben je uiteindelijk de gehandicaptenzorg terecht gekomen?

And why did you ultimately end up in disability care?

Nou, ik volg niet eigenlijk de gehandicaptenzorg opleiding.

Well, I'm not actually following the disability care training.

I am following the training for specific target groups.

Dus dat is net weer een tikje anders.

So that's just a little different again.

So you could choose between disability care and specific target groups.

So you might also consider addiction care.

And I actually think that I enjoy it the most.

I also did an internship with people with acquired brain injury.

So they actually could no longer do things that they could do before because of that.

So they have actually changed because of that.

Ik vind wel echt de gehandicaptenzorg super leuk.

I really find working in disability care super enjoyable.

Ja, dat is misschien weer iets heel anders.

Maar ik wil hierna wel nog hbo gaan doen.

But I still want to pursue higher vocational education after this.

Voor mezelf.

For myself.

Ik heb nu het gevoel dat ik klaar ben met school.

I now feel that I am finished with school.

Ik wil nog wel eigenlijk wel op z'n minst proberen om nog een stapje verder te gaan doen.

I actually want to at least try to take one more step further.

Dan denk ik dat ik wel een andere richting kies dan de zorg.

Then I think I will choose a different direction than healthcare.

Dat komt niet omdat ik niet in de zorg wil werken.

That is not because I don't want to work in healthcare.

Maar qua wat ik in de zorg wil doen, wil ik echt persoonlijk begeleider worden.

But in terms of what I want to do in healthcare, I really want to become a personal caregiver.

Dus voor mij ben ik eigenlijk op dit gebied ben ik dan al uitgestuurd als ik mijn mbo af heb.

So for me, I am actually already sent out in this area once I have completed my vocational training.

Want je hebt dan ook social work, dat is een andere opleiding.

Because you also have social work, which is a different degree.

En dan ga je toch wel meer richting de psychiatrie.

And then you are more heading towards psychiatry.

En dat is niet waar ik mezelf zo snel zie.

And that's not where I see myself so soon.

Dus hierna wil ik wel hbo gaan doen.

En dus na die opleiding kan ik ook altijd nog in de zorg gaan werken als ik het wil.

And we had an incredibly great click.

Zelf vind ik het schoolaspect wel onwijs leuk, ja.

I personally find the school aspect really fun, yes.

Je hebt ook veel ondersteuning op school.

En dat heb ik eigenlijk ook.

And I actually have that too.

Dat heb ik ook wel nodig.

Dat heeft mijn broer dan ook gedaan.

Toch wel echt iets is wat mij geholpen heeft met mijn opleiding.

Dus in plaats van met z'n tweeën draaien we nu dan met z'n drieën in dienst.

Met twee vaste werknemers en een stagiair.

With two permanent employees and an intern.

En je merkt dat er gewoon wat meer ruimte is om dingen zelf uit te zoeken.

And you notice that there is simply a bit more room to figure things out for yourself.

En om te leren.

And to learn.

En om zelf aan de slag te gaan met bepaalde doelen voor bewoners.

And to get started on specific goals for residents themselves.

En bepaalde plannen.

And certain plans.

Dus ik vind die ruimte heel fijn om te krijgen.
