In my podcast, I want to explore the various aspects of pain, such as science, art, philosophy, history, culture, and personal stories of pain.
We often look at that one patient with pain complaints in different ways, with different eyes.
Together I want to explore the way pain is perceived.
In the series Pain through the eyes of, I have a conversation with Katinka Dame today.
Katinka is a gz-psychologist at Novo de Kentrum, an institution for addiction care.
Programmeleider middelengebruik bij aanvullende pijn.
Program leader for substance use in additional pain.
Bestuurslid van het pijnnetwerk Brabant sinds 2020.
Board member of the pain network Brabant since 2020.
ACV is much more extensive, but we will hear that from her shortly.
Katinka is 49 jaar, samenwonend in het mooie Helvoort.
Katinka is 49 years old, living together in the beautiful Helvoort.
Het zijn jouw woorden.
These are your words.
Het mooie Helvoort.
The beautiful Helvoort.
Welkom in deze podcast.
Welcome to this podcast.
We are guests here, I am a guest here with her in Vught, at the Novo de Kentrum complex.
Wij gaan praten over pijn.
We are going to talk about pain.
We will also talk about other things, but about the profession, your motivation, the pain, and the role of the psychologist in that.
Because I am very interested in that.
And also pain in relation to pain medication and the tapering of it.
En natuurlijk hoe jij tegen pijn aankijkt.
And of course how you view pain.
You indicate yourself that you have an opinion about everything.
Heb ik dat gezegd?
Did I say that?
Dat heb jij mij gezegd.
You told me that.
Dat is goed, dat hoort ook zo.
That's good, that's how it should be.
Je mag iets vinden.
You may find something.
Before we get started, Katinka, I want to let you hear the question from my previous guest, Nina Blom.
A lady with whom I recorded quite an impressive podcast.
Nina has been a victim of child abuse by her parents for many years.
I'll let him hear you and then I'll get back to that towards the end.
And then I hope for an answer, but then you must have something to think about.
So now the question and later the answer.
I am very curious if Katinka has experience in her field with sometimes suspecting pain.
Dat dit speelt, zeg maar.
That this is happening, let's say.
Because I want to emphasize very clearly that these perpetrators can invent, worsen, or inflict a physical illness.
But they can also do that on a social or psychological level.
So that a child has to be autistic, for example.
Or that there would be all sorts of behavioral problems with the child.
So, nothing is wrong at all.
So I am very curious if Katinka has ever had experience with that.
Mooie vraag.
Nice question.
Hij raakt ook meteen.
He hits it right away.
Jij wilde hem tot het eind hebben.
You wanted to have him until the end.
Ja.
Yes.
Zullen we dat doen?
Shall we do that?
Ja, laten we dat doen.
Yes, let's do that.
Even terug naar jouw cv.
Back to your resume.
Bij Novo Dekentron.
At Novo Dekentron.
Ben jij begonnen in jouw carrière als psycholoog?
Have you started your career as a psychologist?
Ja.
Yes.
I once, long ago, started at Novo Dekentron in 1998.
Dus in de verslagingszorg.
So in the aftercare.
Another very young psychologist in the institution.
Onderzoek.
Research.
Onderzoek gedaan.
Research done.
Research on personality pathology in people who were addicted to opiates.
And during that research, I also started working clinically.
Dus ik ben ook mensen gaan behandelen.
So I also started treating people.
And I took a course for that.
Zo ben ik erin gerold eigenlijk.
That's how I got into it, actually.
En altijd gebleven.
And always remained.
Ja, heel lang in de verslavingszorg gewerkt.
Yes, I have worked in addiction care for a long time.
I was actually always, not always at Novo Dekentron, but also made some excursions.
naar justitiële verslavingszorg, onder andere.
to judicial addiction care, among others.
And until 2017, I was working from memory, then I started working in pain rehabilitation.
Oké.
Okay.
Hoe zien jouw dagen eruit als jij werkt?
What do your days look like when you work?
Hoe zien mijn dagen eruit?
What do my days look like?
Heel gevarieerd.
Very varied.
I am involved in patient care, so I have conversations with patients, we call it
hier patiënten, noemen we cliënten, met cliënten.
Here patients, we call clients, with clients.
I have discussions about the content of care, policy matters.
I am involved in the development of the program, with the functioning of the
medewerkers.
employees.
Dus eigenlijk met al dat soort zaken.
So actually with all those kinds of things.
Best breed.
Best breed.
Nice, pleasantly varied, and yes, not to focus on one thing.
Vanaf 2017 meer gaan werken met pijn?
Since 2017, have you been working more with pain?
Ja.
Yes.
Vanwaar die fascinatie voor pijn?
Where does that fascination with pain come from?
Ja.
Yes.
Because you have all the possibilities as a psychologist, right?
Ja, dat klopt.
Yes, that's correct.
I actually never considered that the field of pain could be something for me.
Nee.
No.
Ik heb...
I have...
In the years before, I developed pain complaints and struggled with them as well.
Even not being able to work and also going through a rehabilitation process myself.
And in that process, I was initially very focused on my physical complaints.
I think like almost everyone who experiences pain.
And I was a bit skeptical about the role of the
psycholoog.
psychologist.
But why should I talk to a psychologist?
Ik heb gewoon lichamelijke klachten.
I just have physical complaints.
And until I realized that psychologist, I'm still completely confused about it,
because it was now that he was a psychologist.
Ik denk het eigenlijk niet.
I actually don't think so.
It is just someone who knew a lot about pain and what it can all entail.
And he simply asked the right questions at the right time.
Dat was voor mij heel belangrijk.
That was very important to me.
En daardoor vielen er een aantal kwartjes.
And as a result, a number of coins dropped.
Ook over...
Also about...
How I dealt with things and how I looked at things and what consequences that had,
ook op mijn lichaam.
also on my body.
And that’s how I gradually started to change things and actually take better care of myself.
Dat is wel heel cruciaal geweest.
That has been very crucial.
So when I was further along in that process and eventually rehabilitated and back to work,
At that moment, I thought, wow, it’s actually quite beautiful what a psychologist can mean for someone with pain complaints.
And then there was an invoice in pain management where I could also conduct research and work on policy matters.
Dat vond ik interessant.
I found that interesting.
Dus toen heb ik de overstappen gemaakt.
So then I made the transfers.
Eigenlijk heel onbevangen.
Actually quite carefree.
I am happy that I can work again at all.
Dat was voor mij helemaal geen vanzelfsprekend.
That was not at all obvious to me.
So I was actually very relaxed during the match.
Let me go take a sniff around there for once.
Ik zie wel waar ik uitkom.
I'll see where I end up.
And in the beginning, that was still a bit from the sidelines.
But at a certain point, I was really struck by the subject of pain.
And everything that weighs and plays in it and what is related to that.
En toen ben ik me erin gaan verdiepen.
And then I started to delve into it.
And I also went a bit overboard with that.
I think I've become a bit of a pain freak.
So I suddenly wanted to know all about it.
And also from the care greeting that organized me.
But also, what's going on with that pain?
I have started reading books by Mosley and Butler.
Ja, toen was ik eigenlijk wel verkocht.
Yes, at that moment I was actually sold.
Je bent dus ervaringsdeskundige?
So you are an expert by experience?
Ja, zo zou je het kunnen noemen.
Yes, you could call it that.
That's always a bit of a strange word.
And the knowledge that it is not only biomedical.
Een pijnklacht.
A pain complaint.
Ja.
Yes.
Yes, as a psychologist, you're definitely in a good place, aren't you?
Ja, van de ene kant wel.
Yes, on the one hand, it is.
I still see pain as a combination of various factors.
I do have a somewhat unconventional view on pain as well.
I don't know if that's the one I mean.
Well, maybe that’s what I meant in my announcement.
Dat je dat tegen mij zei.
That you said that to me.
Ja.
Yes.
Een eigen wijze kijken op misschien.
A unique perspective on perhaps.
Ja.
Yes.
Maar vertel verder.
But go on.
Well, in that sense, I don't know if it’s very, I don't think it's very innovative.
But what I often hear, even from people who work with pain, is well, or in the explanation.
or in the education of patients, the explanation about sensitization, the process of becoming more sensitive to
your nervous system, that your nervous system has become too sensitive, that that is abnormal
is, dat dat een stoornis is.
that it is a disorder.
The new definition or the ICD-11 classification actually also states that it is a disorder.
But when I think about it, I believe that one in five people suffer from ongoing pain complaints.
Yes, if you think about how much that is, then I’m actually convinced.
that that cannot be, that it is an anomaly or a disorder or something that is not intended
is.
is.
I have also thought about generations, I could imagine that under certain circumstances
that we would have a generation suffering from persistent pain complaints in such large numbers,
"But if that extends over the generations, then I think it is indeed the intention, no matter how unpleasant."
het ook is.
it is too.
I may say that from my own experience, but I think that pain, persistent
Pain warns you just as well as acute pain does.
And then not so much for, not only for damage, or sometimes not even for damage, but
Well, for various things, I always refer to that as disturbances in genetics.
So basically various circumstances that can be burdensome for you.
En dat kan heel breed zijn.
And that can be very broad.
And then psychological factors or traumas are quickly considered.
Jazeker hè, dat kan.
Sure, that can be done.
But I also just think in the present.
Various circumstances that are ultimately risky for your health.
And they are often, I think, not very noticeable, because then you would notice them yourself.
But I think that pain can serve as a warning.
You say, maybe it's the intention that one in five, what do you mean by that?
mee?
with me?
Wel de bedoeling?
Well, the intention?
The intention in the sense that it is not something that...
Yes, what is actually a kind of erroneous disruption.
Maar eigenlijk iets wat je...
But actually something that you...
Dus één op de vijf...
So one in five...
Actually, I mean that it seems to be the case for one in five people in this time, in this
society, is needed to give a warning signal.
Je lichaam wil iets zeggen.
Your body wants to say something.
Ja.
Yes.
So when you look at our society, it is of course very busy, very stimulus-rich.
We bewegen veel te weinig.
We move far too little.
Daar ben ik van overtuigd.
I am convinced of that.
Less and less, I think, with all the modern technology.
And I don't think that's the intention.
And that pain is indeed meant to warn you about that.
Ja.
Yes.
Het klinkt misschien wat zweverig, maar...
It may sound a bit airy-fairy, but...
Is the role of the psychologist in pain care...
I am working on the front line.
You don't have it, but we notice that we have a...
Nee.
No.
...pijnzorg hebben.
...pain management.
Ja.
Yes.
If you look at the biopsychosocial model, the psychology in it, the holistic approach,
then you can also look at that one client, patient with pain complaints with a very broad, open perspective,
Then I actually still find the role of the psychologist very limited.
Hhmm.
Hhmm.
On one hand, I think that is still a bit, maybe even then, a taboo.
is still, because I don't need a psychologist for that, right?
Ja.
Yes.
en aan de andere kant denk ik
and on the other hand, I think
en daar lopen wij tegen aan
and that's what we are encountering
waar halen wij een goede
where do we get a good one
gz-psycholoog vandaan
gz-psychologist from
in onze behandeling van onze
in our treatment of our
er zijn zware
there are heavy
I think we really have a Keesloot.
die echt heel pittig is
that is really very spicy
we zouden ook heel graag een
we would also really like a
cognitieve gedragstherapeut
cognitive behavioral therapist
bij willen hebben
to want to have
we doen act, we doen mindfulness
we do act, we do mindfulness
maar wij hebben niet de tools
but we do not have the tools
die een goede gz-psycholoog heeft
who has a good gz psychologist
ik vind het wel een interessante vraag
I find it an interesting question.
mag ik een vraag terugstellen?
May I postpone a question?
ja zeker
yes certainly
wat zou die gz-psycholoog
What would that gz-psychologist do?
precies in jullie zorg
precisely in your care
kunnen betekenen
can mean
because that’s what I’m looking for a little bit
want je zegt we doen act
because you say we do act
we doen mindfulness
we practice mindfulness
mindfulness
mindfulness
ja
yes
dan denk ik nou
then I think well
nou
well
ja dat is zo, maar soms dan kom je
Yes, that's true, but sometimes you come across...
in contact met een patiënt
in contact with a patient
en dan heb je in de anamnese
and then you have in the anamnesis
of in de behandeling daarna
or in the subsequent treatment
in het achter van ja wacht even
in the back of yes wait a moment
je zit toch wel in een enorme
you are in a huge
rouwproces in het verleden
grieving process in the past
er worden dingen even
things are being equalized
kort benoemd
briefly mentioned
die een enorme impact hebben
that have a huge impact
op het systeem
on the system
that can be a death, that can be an abuse
dat kunnen andere dingen zijn die toch
that can be other things that nonetheless
een forse impact hebben op patiënten
have a significant impact on patients
ik ben fysiotherapeut
I am a physiotherapist.
ja
yes
ik
I
snap je, ik moet ook wel
You understand, I have to as well.
ik denk dat ik ervaring heb
I think that I have experience.
dat ik best wel
that I can quite well
a lot can be done to help patients
but I still don't have the tools to do that
om dat goed aan te pakken
to handle that well
Then I would like to have someone with me.
waarvan ik zeg ja
which I say yes to
kun jij dit traject een beetje ondersteunen
Can you support this process a bit?
met jou
with you
wij zijn bezig met het fysieke opbouw
We are working on the physical construction.
met alles eromheen
with everything around it
but I think some help is definitely needed.
zou ik dat willen
Would I want that?
ja dat kan ik wel willen
Yes, I can want that.
I wouldn't know where to get that from.
dat wordt makkelijk gezegd
That is easy to say.
die sluit dan aan
that connects then
over vier, vijf, zes, zeven, acht maanden
in four, five, six, seven, eight months
daar kan de psycholoog niks aan doen
the psychologist can't do anything about that
because you can't do more than work hard
maar daar heb ik niks aan
but I don't gain anything from that
als ik acht maanden moet wachten
if I have to wait eight months
I think it's nice that you ask me that question.
want ik ben natuurlijk psycholoog
because I am of course a psychologist
ik sta daar zelf een beetje voor
I stand a bit for that myself.
ik ben een psycholoog
I am a psychologist.
ik sta daar zelf een beetje voor
I'm a bit on my own with that.
I find myself a bit ambivalent about that, I notice.
en dat is een beetje
and that is a bit
nouja
well now
It's also exciting to say something about that.
zonder mijn vakgenoten te kort te willen doen
without wanting to shortchange my colleagues
ik sta er dubbel in
I have mixed feelings about it.
omdat ik
because I
aan de ene kant denk ja
On the one hand, you think yes.
iedereen heeft zijn discipline
everyone has his discipline
en zijn kijk
and his view
and I think it can indeed be valuable
om een psychologische kijk
to gain a psychological perspective
te hebben op sommige problemen
to have on some issues
I think so too when you describe it like this.
denk ik van
I think of
I think you have quite a good perspective on it.
daarmee is niet alles opgelost
that doesn't solve everything
ik vraag me wel af
I do wonder.
kan een psycholoog dat wel
Can a psychologist do that?
en wat ik
and what I
daarin veel zie in de GGZ
I see a lot of that in mental health care.
want wij zijn natuurlijk ingebed
because we are of course embedded
in de GGZ
in mental healthcare
hoe zeg ik dit
how do I say this
met respect voor mijn collega's
with respect for my colleagues
ik vind dat in de GGZ
I think that in mental health care.
we soms een beetje doorslaan
we sometimes go a bit overboard
in de gedachten
in the thoughts
in de illusie als psycholoog
in the illusion as a psychologist
daar worden we ook mee opgeleid
that's what we are being trained for as well
ik ook
me too
I also think I contributed to it myself for quite some time.
aan de illusie
to the illusion
dat wij mensen kunnen
that we people can
onereerbiedig gezegd
to put it delicately
repareren
to repair
beter maken
to make better
door middel van allerlei
by means of all sorts of
klachtgerichte behandelingen
complaint-oriented treatments
protocollen
protocols
leuren aan die klachten
fiddling with those complaints
leuren aan persoonlijkheid
colors of personality
en ik ben steeds meer van mening
and I am increasingly of the opinion
ondertussen
meanwhile
That's why I might also be a bit obstinate.
that people may not be changeable at all
en dat
and that
sommige dingen die je meemaakt
some things you experience
sommige krassen in je ziel
some scratches in your soul
dat die misschien helemaal niet zo
that it might not be like that at all
te veranderen zijn
to change be
I think that sometimes we go a bit overboard in mental health care.
to a kind, I call it very disrespectfully
een soort quick fix garage
a kind of quick fix garage
en dat zou ik
and I would
zo zonde vinden als dat
such a pity if that
pijnzorg
so when you say there are so few psychologists
Then on one hand I think it's a shame.
we kunnen zoveel betekenen
we can mean so much
and on the other hand I think let's just not do it please
zo'n quick fix garage van maken
to turn it into such a quick fix garage
en laten we wel
and let's be clear
zorgen dat we
ensure that we
juist de positieve kanten van die
just the positive sides of that
pijnzorg
and I see that very much in the trend towards positive health
naar het vooruit kijken
looking forward
naar veel minder klachtgericht
to much less complaint-oriented
aan veel meer
to much more
Who are you as a person and where do you want to go?
dat vind ik zo
I think that's so.
dat vind ik zo mooi
I think that's so beautiful.
dus voor mij als psycholoog
so for me as a psychologist
is de pijnzorg
is the pain care
eigenlijk een soort redding
actually a kind of rescue
and I don't know if it would be the other way around as well
of de pijnzorg
of the pain care
ook zo geholpen zou zijn
would also be helped like this
als psycholoog
as a psychologist
and that is a bit of an exciting statement
ik denk van wel
I think so.
als antwoord
as an answer
ik denk dat wij veel kunnen doen
I think we can do a lot.
I think the psychologist doesn't exist anyway.
in de pijnzorg
in pain care
dat daar heel veel schillen in zitten
that there are a lot of peels in there
ook in achtergronden
also in backgrounds
maar ook in kijk op
but also in view of
problemen
problems
but let's somewhat keep that role then
bescheiden houden
to keep modest
and let us not raise the illusion to that pain care as well.
zo bedoel ik het ook niet hoor
That's not how I mean it, you know.
je hebt basis psychologen
you have basic psychologists
dan heb je gz psychologen
then you have clinical psychologists
je hebt pijn psychologen
you have pain psychologists
What is the added value of pain psychologists?
boven de
above the
basis psychologen
basic psychologists
ik denk dat een basis psycholoog
I think a basic psychologist
ook een hele goede pijn psycholoog
also a very good pain psychologist
kan zijn
can be
en ik denk dat een gz psycholoog
and I think that a gz psychologist
als die niks van pijn weet
if it knows nothing of pain
een hele slechte pijn psycholoog
a very bad pain psychologist
kan zijn
can be
ik denk dat het wel cruciaal is
I think it is quite crucial.
welke discipline je ook hebt
whatever discipline you have
in de pijnzorg
in pain management
dat je veel van pijn weet
that you know a lot about pain
en dat je daar kennis
and that you gain knowledge there
and that you might also be able to transfer that
of daar tools voor hebt
or if you have tools for that
om die
to do that
met de patiënt eigenlijk te leren
to actually learn with the patient
en daarin te zoeken
and to search in it
ja tools
yes tools
en
and
ja ieders een vak
Yes, each has a subject.
ik denk dat altijd maar fysiotherapie gedaan
I always think that I've only done physical therapy.
dan had ik daar
then I would have there
toch iets meer kennis gehad van bijvoorbeeld
still had a bit more knowledge of, for example,
neuro fysiologie
neurophysiology
dat moet je als psycholoog allemaal
that is all you have to do as a psychologist
erbij
thereby
sprokkelen want dat zit niet
Collecting sticks because that doesn't sit well.
automatisch in je opleiding
automatically in your education
and I also think that it has to do with that when
veel psychologen daar ook niet voor kiezen
many psychologists do not choose that either
nee
no
you're mowing the grass away from my feet
oh sorry
oh sorry
nee
no
in het vakblad de psycholoog
in the journal the psychologist
vers van de pers april 2024
hot off the press April 2024
wordt er lansgebroken
Is there any interruption?
voor
for
dat er meer aandacht gegeven moet
that more attention should be given
worden in de opleiding van psychologen
become in the training of psychologists
over het fenomeen pijn
about the phenomenon of pain
and in particular that they emphasize neurophysiology
van pijn beter moeten kunnen
having to be able to get better from pain
begrijpen
understand
dus dan praat je
so then you're talking
over het stukje opleiding
about the piece of training
yes, indeed for me it would be on the
basisschool al pijnles
primary school already pain lesson
mogen komen
may come
het is gewoon de
it is just the
basics over pijn en wat het is
basics about pain and what it is
en wat het niet is
and what it is not
maar inderdaad in een
but indeed in a
specialisatie opleiding
specialization training
zoals psychologie zou je wel
As psychology you would indeed.
mogen verwachten dat daar
may expect that there
veel meer in zit
much more in it
over pijn
about pain
en ook verslaving
and also addiction
daar komen wij dadelijk op
We'll get to that shortly.
ja
yes
but that has now been somewhat embedded
maar pijn zou
but pain would
It has been a while since I completed my training.
maar ook als je nu kijkt
but also when you look now
is het denk ik nog wat wager
I think it is still a bit uncertain.
van die richting
from that direction
een tweetal podcasts
a couple of podcasts
hiervoor had ik
I had this for.
een gesprek met Marcel Schenkels
a conversation with Marcel Schenkels
pijnarts en met Beatrice Boersma
pain specialist and with Beatrice Boersma
en Beatrice huisarts
and Beatrice general practitioner
die zei toen
who said then
de grootste vindplaats van chronische
the largest site of chronic
pijnpatiënten
pain patients
is de fysiotherapeut
is the physiotherapist
omdat
because
daar door de
through the
directe toegankelijkheid je hebt geen verwijzing
direct access you don't need a referral
meer nodig je kunt rechtstreeks naar een
more needed you can go directly to a
fysiotherapeut gaan die kan signaleren
physiotherapist who can identify
waar
where
de grootste hiccups zouden
the biggest hiccups would
zitten in de zorg
working in healthcare
maar dan moet je wel zorgen
but then you have to make sure
als beroepsgroep dat je je
as a profession that you are
goed ontwikkelt
well developed
and that you your knowledge and your skills
goed op peil houdt
maintains a good level
dus zorg dat je er veel
so make sure you have a lot of it
van weet
from knows
I think that's of course true for every subject.
maar dat
but that
I think that might be the case for the psychologists too.
een eye opener zou zijn
an eye opener would be
van luister je moet er wel zorgen
You have to take care of listening.
als je er dan veel van weet
if you know a lot about it
zorg dat je ook zichtbaar bent
make sure you are also visible
that you are available for the people on the front line
ja
yes
ik kan me voorstellen dat
I can imagine that
eigenlijk
actually
moet je dan aan de bak
Do you need to get to work?
met een heel nieuw vak
with a completely new subject
en dat die drempel voor veel psychologen
and that this threshold for many psychologists
wel hoog is
well high is
tenzij je er per ongeluk in rolt
unless you accidentally get caught up in it
doordat je in de revalidatie bent gaan werken
because you started working in rehabilitation
or because you have something to do with pain yourself
anders word je daar
otherwise you'll become there
denk ik minder makkelijk toe uitgenodigd
I think I am less easily invited.
dan dat je wordt uitgenodigd om bijvoorbeeld
than being invited to for example
in de GGZ te gaan werken
to work in mental health care
waar je al die ziektebeelden
where all those disease patterns
zie je voorbij komen in je
see you passing by in your
training and then you already get a sense of it
mee misschien heb je ergens een stage
Maybe you have an internship somewhere.
gelopen of is mijn
walked or is my
meegekeken
watched along
maar goed ze zijn er wel
but they are there after all
but I do agree with you
dat psychologen in de eerste lijn zijn
that psychologists are in the front line
nog wel erg ondervertegenwoordigd
still very underrepresented
terwijl dat zo'n superleuk vak is
while it's such a super fun subject
dat weet ik ook even
I know that too for a moment.
ja absoluut
yes absolutely
in de podcast
in the podcast
die ik net noemde
that I just mentioned
is ook gesproken over
has also been discussed about
medicatiegebruik
medication use
babykiller
baby killer
de netflix serie
the Netflix series
over oxycodonverslag
about oxycodone report
in Amerika
in America
dat is heel indrukwekkend gezien
that is very impressive viewed
ja dat zijn een aantal van die
yes, those are a number of those
doodziek
deadly sick
echt heel indrukwekkend
really very impressive
and when I look at an article
op een vandaag
on a today
waarin van februari
in which of February
2024 met jou
2024 with you
je hebt het ook
you have it too
you just mentioned the quick fix too
we thought we were going in the right direction
And now we hear again that there is more coming.
voorgeschreven
prescribed
we horen dat huisartsen en specialisten
we hear that general practitioners and specialists
weten dat ze kortdurend moeten voorschrijven
knowing that they need to prescribe for a short duration
maar zich ook afvragen
but also wondering
wat dan
what then
What if a patient comes in with pain?
die in alles wordt belemmerd
who is hindered in everything
dan kun je moeilijk nog
then you can hardly still
dan is het moeilijk
then it is difficult
om niet de quick fix
to avoid the quick fix
van die zware pijnstillers
from those heavy painkillers
aan te bieden
to offer
zijn er andere opties dan
are there other options than
ja
yes
Yes, then I'll kind of back off again.
aan op wat ik
to what I
eerder in het gesprek ook al benoemde
mentioned earlier in the conversation
ik denk dat de hele
I think that the whole
kijken op pijn
looking at pain
pijn als iets wat alleen maar lastig
pain as something that is just annoying
is wat weg moet
is what needs to go
we moeten allemaal door
we all have to move on
we hebben allemaal dingen te doen
we all have things to do
in plaats van dat het iets is
instead of it being something
wat ons beschermt
what protects us
en wat misschien wel de bedoeling is
and what might actually be the intention
dat je ergens voor waarschuwt
that you warn about something
dat het daar begint
that it starts there
want als je dat
because if you do that
waarschuwingssignaal onderdrukt
warning signal suppressed
wat loop je dan
what are you running for then
voor risico's dan ga je eigenlijk
For risks, then you actually go.
so if you suppress it with medication
bijvoorbeeld of met een ander middel
for example or with another means
alcohol of cannabis
alcohol or cannabis
dan ga je er eigenlijk aan voorbij
then you actually overlook it
wat is dan het volgende
what is the next thing then
stadium was je dan ziek
"Stadium, were you sick then?"
krijg je dan een ziekte
do you then get a disease
val je uit val je stil
fall you out, fall you silent
dus je lichaam heeft
so your body has
mechanismes
mechanisms
ingebouwde mechanismes
built-in mechanisms
om dat te voorkomen
to prevent that
zodra je een wat langere tijd
as soon as you have a somewhat longer time
dat signaal onderdrukt ja dan
that signal suppresses yes then
zet het eigenlijk de pijn hoger
does it actually raise the pain?
dus nog even los
so just a little more loose
van wat de alternatieven zijn
of what the alternatives are
denk ik dat de kant van
I think that the side of
pijndemping opgaan
pain management increase
voor langere tijd
for a longer period of time
langer dan een aantal weken
longer than a few weeks
dat dat sowieso
that that anyway
een tweede probleem oplevert erbij
it poses a second problem as well
in plaats van dat het sowieso
instead of it being anyway
iets oplost dus dat is denk ik
solving something, so I think that is.
wat de eerste boodschap zou moeten zijn
what the first message should be
pijndemping is trouwens niks mis mee
Pain relief is nothing to be ashamed of, by the way.
met acute problemen
with acute problems
of te overzien problemen
or to overlook problems
als we het hebben over
when we talk about
operatie of
operation or
als we het hebben over aanhoudende pijn
when we talk about persistent pain
ja wat dan
yes, what then
ik denk dat
I think that
wat het mooie is
what is beautiful is
is dat in Nederland veel
Is that a lot in the Netherlands?
gebeurt op het gebied van
happens in the area of
ontwikkeling van zorg voor pijn
development of pain care
dat er steeds meer
that there is increasingly more
kennis is van
knowledge is from
aanhoudende pijn en dat dat ook wel
persistent pain and that it is also well
vertaald naar de praktijk
translated into practice
het kost natuurlijk altijd geld en tijd
It always costs money and time, of course.
en het duurt even
and it takes a while
de andere kijk
the other perspective
en de kijk waarbij je
and the view where you
meer inzet op
more focus on
ja de hele
yes the whole
persoon en
person and
all factors that may contribute to the pain
dat is wel een
that is indeed a
lange termijn oplossing
long-term solution
you need to do a bit more for that
en je moet daar geduld voor hebben
and you need to be patient for that
ik denk dat dat wel de weg is die je dan
I think that is the way you should go then.
op zou moeten
shouldn't be
Do you mean that you have to do more for that?
beter luisteren
better listening
ik denk dat je als
I think that you as
degene die aan pijn
those who are in pain
leidt
leads
dat een medicament is natuurlijk een heel
that a medication is of course a very
waarschijnlijk snelle oplossing
probably quick solution
het werkt meteen en je pijn wordt
it works immediately and your pain is
verdoofd maar als je
numb but if you
gaat kijken naar wat er onder ligt
is going to see what lies underneath
je gaat kijken naar stressfactoren
you are going to look at stress factors
in je leven of gaat kijken naar
in your life or going to look at
problemen, naar relatieproblemen
problems, to relationship problems
financiële problemen
financial problems
overbelasting
overload
trauma's in je verleden
traumas in your past
en dan ben je
and then you are
dat kost natuurlijk veel meer energie, tijd
that of course costs much more energy, time
confronterend
confronting
het is hard werken
it's hard work
eigenlijk
actually
and if you are already polite about pain
ga dan nog maar eens hard werken
Then go and work hard again.
dus ik denk dat de
so I think that the
grootste uitdaging erin zit is
the biggest challenge lies in
mensen mee te nemen in dat verhaal
to involve people in that story
te motiveren maar ook te helpen
to motivate but also to help
om het op te kunnen brengen
to be able to manage it
om die kant op te gaan
to go that way
in plaats van de snelle oplossing
instead of the quick fix
to choose that then in the long term
ze eigenlijk verder wegbrengt
it actually takes her further away
dat is echt moeilijk
that is really difficult
vind ik
I think so.
snap je pijnartsen
Do you understand pain doctors?
en orthopeden die heel makkelijk
and orthopedists who are very easy
dat voorschrijven
that prescribe
ik snap
I understand.
dat dat
that that
gebeurd is
has happened
ik vind het wel wat lastiger
I find it a bit more difficult.
dat het nog steeds makkelijker
that it is still easier
gebeurt
happens
omdat ik zou verwachten dat die
because I would expect that those
inmiddels ook
meanwhile also
die kennis wel hebben
to have that knowledge
en ook wel weten van
and also know about
dat is niet de oplossing
that is not the solution
wat ik wel snap
what I do understand
that they feel the apple very strongly
zich zelfs onder druk gezet
even put under pressure
kunnen voeden door
can feed through
patiënten maar ook gewoon de machteloosheid
patients but also simply the powerlessness
mensen
people
die gewoon echt niet meer vooruit komen
that just really can't move forward anymore
die volledig vastlopen in hun leven
who completely get stuck in their lives
nou ja
well then
dat grijp ik zelfs vanuit
I even grasp that from.
mijn eigen perspectief
my own perspective
ik heb dat zelf ook zo ervaren
I have experienced that myself as well.
en dan
and then
Would you wish for a quick fix?
then you just want to go back to how it was
en dat
and that
als er dan iets is
if there is something then
wat ook snel kan werken
what can also work quickly
of wat ook waarschijnlijk snel kan werken
or what can probably work quickly as well
Then I understand that you want to go for that.
en dat je alles doet ook om
and that you do everything also to
dat te krijgen
to get that
dus ja en nee
so yes and no
langer
longer
dan van al kort
then of all short
jullie doen veel met medicatie afbouw
you do a lot with medication reduction
en ik heb
and I have
vorig jaar heb ik een heel mooi
Last year I had a very nice
mini symposium
mini symposium
wat je had gemaakt voor ons
what you had made for us
het werd over verslavingszorg
it was about addiction care
wat voor verslavingszorg behandelen jullie hier
What kind of addiction treatment do you provide here?
ja wij behandelen
Yes, we handle.
in de instelling behandelen we eigenlijk
In the institution, we actually treat.
alles
everything
dus dan kan je denken aan
so you can think of
cocaïneverslaving, gokverslaving
cocaine addiction, gambling addiction
seksverslaving
sex addiction
heroïneverslaving
heroin addiction
en dan in allerlei fases
and then in various phases
dus mensen die net
so people who just
heroin as a substance or just getting into trouble with it
dus preventie
so prevention
jongeren
youth
vanuit preventietak tot
from the prevention branch to
mensen die echt al jarenlang
people who have truly been for years
bijvoorbeeld heroïne gebruiken
for example, using heroin
daar ook niet meer van afkomen
not getting rid of that anymore
en die heroïne van ons verstrekt krijgen
and get that heroin of ours supplied
om te zorgen dat ze een
to ensure that they have a
ja kwalitatief goed leven
yes quality good life
kunnen leiden en niet de hele dag
can lead and not all day long
bezig zijn met scoren
busy scoring
en de maatschappelijke overlast die daarvan komt
and the social nuisance that results from it
dus best wel breed
so quite wide
and one of the things that we also have is a
pijnprogramma
pain program
speciaal voor mensen die vanwege pijnklachten
especially for people who experience pain issues
verslaafd zijn
to be addicted
dat is vrij uniek
that is quite unique
heb ik begrepen
I have understood.
wil je daar wat meer over vertellen?
Would you like to tell a bit more about that?
Yes, I would like to tell you more about that.
het is uniek in de zin dat we
it is unique in the sense that we
een geïntegreerd behandelaanbod hebben
have an integrated treatment offer
dus we hebben de methodieken
So we have the methodologies.
vanuit de verslavingszorg
from addiction care
proberen we te integreren
we are trying to integrate
in de methodieken vanuit de pijnzorg
in the methodologies from pain care
omdat we zien dat patiënten
because we see that patients
in de pijnzorg behandeld worden
to be treated in pain management
voor de pijnklachten
for the pain complaints
maar dat de verslaving overgeslagen wordt
but that the addiction is skipped
or that they are not accepted due to the addiction
andersom
the other way around
we still knew very little in addiction care
van pijn
of pain
dus als we mensen gingen afbouwen
so if we were to scale down on people
van medicatie dan kwam die pijn
from medication then came that pain
then we actually didn't really know what to do with it
en ja we integreren
and yes we are integrating
het dus door die methodieken
it is therefore through those methodologies
samen te voegen
to be merged
en daarin
and in it
patiënten te behandelen
to treat patients
om uiteindelijk
to ultimately
zonder
without
liefst zonder middelen
preferably without resources
soms met nog wat middelen
sometimes with a few resources
hun leven te leiden
to lead their life
op een kwalitatief
on a qualitative
goede manier
good way
zonder dat die pijn al te veel
without that pain too much
gaat opspelen
is going to escalate
en ze te veel belemmerd mag
and should hinder you too much
dat is ons doel
that is our goal
hoe lang mogen
how long may
mensen hier zijn?
are there people here?
nou het is in principe een polyklinisch
Well, it is basically an outpatient procedure.
traject
trajectory
in enkele of in enkel geval
in a few or in a single case
in een aantal gevallen
in a number of cases
ongeveer 40% denk ik
I think about 40%.
nemen we mensen kortdurend op
we take people in temporarily
dus dat is echt maar maximaal
so that is really just at most
3-4 weken
3-4 weeks
en dat doen we dan om
and we do that to
vaak om een medicijn te wisselen
often to change a medicine
dat is een beetje een technisch verhaal
that's a bit of a technical story
maar om het ene opioïd
but to the one opioid
voor het ander te vervangen wat makkelijker
to replace the other which is easier
to be completed and works a bit longer
then they can just relax a bit more at home
mee afbouwen
help to dismantle
de behandeling
the treatment
volledig polyklinisch en duurt ongeveer
fully outpatient and lasts approximately
een jaar
a year
We will first start with teaching pain management.
vaardigheden
skills
and so ways to cope with the pain
dan gaan we pas een afbouwplan
Then we will only create a dismantling plan.
maken en daar heel langzaam mee starten
make and start very slowly with it
en we zien hier vrij hoge
and we see quite high here
doseringen ook over het algemeen
dosages also in general
maar
but
we zien ook andere middelen
we also see other means
we zien ook alcohol, we zien cannabis
we see alcohol, we see cannabis
we zien zelfs mensen die gamen of gokken
We even see people who are gaming or gambling.
om de pijn te onderdrukken
to suppress the pain
dus dat is ook specifiek
so that is also specific
is het soms
is it sometimes
hoelang doen jullie op deze manier
How long have you been doing it this way?
we zijn
we are
vijf jaar geleden begonnen
started five years ago
very low thresholds to see if we can create a nice curriculum
konden maken
could make
of daar interesse voor was
or there was interest in that
ja en ondertussen loopt het storm
Yes, and in the meantime, there is a storm brewing.
so now we have a whole team of employees
door heel veel band
through a lot of band
en ja
and yes
we try to serve the target audience as well as possible
er valt nog heel veel te ontwikkelen
There is still a lot to develop.
ja tuurlijk
Yes, of course.
is er een terugval preventie plan
Is there a relapse prevention plan?
ja voorstellen
yes, propose
onderdeel van het behandelen
part of the treatment
ja dat is allemaal leuk en aardig
Yes, that's all nice and pleasant.
You shake hands, you did well, man.
and in six months they will be back again
kun je mensen daarna
Can you people afterwards?
I think that is quite characteristic for this.
doelgroep
target audience
Because that is different, I think, for most.
beslavingen zie je dat
addictions, do you see that?
dus dat terugval in het middel
so that relapse in the middle
heel erg
very much
ja op de loer ligt
yes is lurking
toch zien we dat als mensen eenmaal
yet we see that once people
afgebouwd zijn van pijn
to be rid of pain
dempende middelen
damping agents
en de tools hebben om hun pijn
and the tools to deal with their pain
te managen
to manage
that they actually don't come back that often at all
oké
okay
because it is still a large part of this
mensen
people
ja
yes
yet it is largely also for that which hurts
niet helemaal vaak
not quite often
want het dempt niet alleen je pijn
because it not only dulls your pain
het dempt ook allerlei emotionele
it also dampens various emotions
ballast en
ballast and
frustraties en ook prikkels
frustrations and also stimuli
het middel kent een aantal
the remedy has a number of
andere voordelen
other benefits
ja
yes
maar goed mensen zien wij
but well, people do we see
tot nu toe niet zo vaak terugkomen
not come back so often so far
It is true that we have many people who drop out.
voordat ze behandeling hebben afgerond
before they have completed treatment
en dat heeft vaak
and that often has
te maken met
to deal with
ja met van alles
yes with everything
some people are just not there yet
andere mensen
other people
markeren fysiek iets waardoor ze uitvallen
marking something physically so that they drop out
of weer een operatie
or another operation
moeten ondergaan
must undergo
of het project eerst in moeten
or the project must be first in
dat is ook nog wel een reden
that is definitely one reason too
dat is heel jammer
that's a real pity
die even prioriteit heeft
that has priority for a moment
ja ja ja
yes yes yes
sometimes the pain is also linked to a
lichamelijk probleem
physical problem
wat dan opspeelt bijvoorbeeld
what is coming up for example
we try to filter it out at the beginning
but yes, life happens while you are making plans
dus dat
so that
zie je soms zelfs
do you sometimes even see
eigenlijk heel jammer
actually very unfortunate
dus we hebben nog niet een methode
so we do not yet have a method
waarbij
whereby
90%
90%
aangehaald blijft
remains quoted
ik denk wel 60%
I think about 60%.
maar 90% nog niet
but 90% not yet
eigenlijk
actually
ja
yes
een mooi citaat
a beautiful quote
I read about you in an article.
oké
okay
pijn gaat over veiligheid en gevaar
pain is about safety and danger
ja
yes
ik weet wel wat jij daarmee bedoelt
I know what you mean by that.
maar kun jij dat eens uitleggen
but can you explain that once?
ja
yes
een beetje
a little bit
if I base it on my own experience
ja
yes
veiligheid en gevaar zijn nogal grote woorden
safety and danger are rather big words
but you could also translate it as
prettig en onprettig
pleasant and unpleasant
wat ik in ieder geval zelf merk
what I notice myself in any case
is al hoe meer prettiger is
is increasingly more pleasant
ja
yes
hoe minder last
how less trouble
en hoe meer
and how more
onveilig of onprettig
unsafe or uncomfortable
op allerlei
in various ways
manieren en vlakken
ways and surfaces
ja hoe heftig je lichaam is
yes how intense your body is
dat lichaam reageert
that body reacts
daar ben ik ondertussen wel van overtuigd
I have meanwhile become convinced of that.
maar dat is best lastig
but that's quite difficult
om dat
for that
zo te zien
so it seems
ja
yes
wat betekent
what does it mean
pijn voor jouw persoon
pain for your person
een vloek en een zegen
a curse and a blessing
denk ik
I think.
een vloek en een zegen
a curse and a blessing
ja
yes
pijn belemmerd
pain hindered
we just had it before the recording
over hardlopen
about running
een marathon
a marathon
ik loop heel veel hard
I run a lot.
but I don't think I will ever run a marathon
dus dat
so that
alles waar het me in belemmerd
everything that hinders me
vroeger reed ik
I used to ride.
gewoon even op en in naar
just a moment up and in to
spanje
Spain
in de auto
in the car
ja dan gaat het niet meer
yes then it won't work anymore
een vloek soms heb ik zoveel last
a curse sometimes I have so much trouble
dat ik ook echt heel
that I really do very
in mijn dagelijkse doen
in my daily doings
tijd beperkt ben
time is limited
but it is also a blessing and I notice that I
heb natuurlijk mijn vak van gemaakt
I have, of course, made my profession out of it.
het is ook een beetje mijn hobby
it's also kind of my hobby
even become, I think in a crazy way
misschien wel
maybe so
maar het remt mij ook
but it also holds me back
if I get more trouble then I know
oké dan moet ik even stilstaan bij
Okay, then I need to pause for a moment to consider
hoe gaat het nou eigenlijk met mij
how are things actually going with me
And before, I had no orange and red at all.
vlaggen ik ging maar door
flags I just kept going
en eigenlijk sloeg ik ook allerlei
and actually, I also hit various
paths that were not good for me at all
ging ik dan maar ook door
Then I should just continue as well.
en ik ben nu wel
and I am now well
blij dat ik
glad that I
ergens ook blij
somewhere also happy
blij is een beetje
happy is a bit
ik ben misschien
I might be
gezegend met een beschermend
blessed with a protective
lijf
body
dat is mooi
that is beautiful
zullen we eens naar de vraag van
shall we take a look at the question of
Nina gaan kijken
Going to watch Nina.
weet je hem nog
Do you still remember him?
ja ik weet hem zeker nog
Yes, I definitely remember him.
ik vond hem heel heftig
I found it very intense.
de vraag
the question
zal ik uitleggen waarom
I will explain why.
in haar vraag
in her question
zit een beetje ook de veronderstelling
there is also a bit of assumption
dat het
that it
om kinderen zou gaan
would be about children
nou werk ik niet met kinderen
Well, I don't work with children.
so I want to add that
so in that sense I haven't there
mee te maken
to deal with
maar waarom haar
but why her
vraag bij mij binnenkwam is
the question that came to me is
omdat ik op dit moment
because I at this moment
het vermoeden
the suspicion
is nog te sterk
is still too strong
ik heb een gedachte gehad bij iemand
I had a thought about someone.
zou dit
would this
aan de hand kunnen zijn eigenlijk nog
could actually still be at hand
voordat ik de podcast met Nina
before I record the podcast with Nina
vroeger of daar
earlier or there
dat speelde al even
that had been ongoing for a while
en wat ik heb
and what I have
Done, I can't say much more about it.
What I did is that I just...
I sent a message and they let me know.
dat ze even met me mee wil denken
that she wants to think along with me for a moment
if I can tackle this because I have no idea
dat is goed van je
that's good of you
ja
yes
fijn dat ze mee wil denken
Glad that she wants to think along.
dit is natuurlijk
this is of course
iets wat we niet
something we do not
zover ik weet niet zo vaak zien
As far as I know, not seen that often.
of niet zo vaak vermoeden
or not suspect so often
vooral niet bij volwassenen
especially not with adults
en
and
dan is het wel fijn als iemand
then it is nice if someone
die daar
that one over there
de fijnere signalen kan pakken
can pick up the finer signals
or can think along with you, how do you make it discussable?
want ik zou niet weten hoe ik
because I wouldn't know how I
it should be addressed without me having to involve anyone
half valselijk schuldig
half falsely guilty
een relatie op het spel
a relationship at stake
zet vind ik ingewikkeld
I find it complicated.
ja
yes
ja ja
yes yes
ja
yes
Indeed, I must say that even after the
opname van de podcast
recording of the podcast
eigenlijk meer na het lezen
actually more after reading
van het boek dat ik ook
from the book that I also
ik ga het eventjes
I will do it for a moment.
terugkijken van
looking back at
bepaalde casuïstieken dat je denkt van
certain case studies that you think of
dat was ook wel eigenlijk wel apart
That was actually quite something.
dat was eigenlijk wel apart
that was actually quite unusual
ja
yes
je raakt er iets
you touch something
je krijgt er iets meer feeling mee
you get a bit more feeling with it
ja soms
yes sometimes
wat ik heel vaak en ook
what I very often and also
I really like to do that at the beginning.
altijd wel het hele systeem compleet heb
always have the whole system complete
maar als het om jongere kinderen gaat
but when it comes to younger children
dus niet
so not
5, 6, 7 jaar maar
5, 6, 7 years but
12, 13, 14 jaar zo
12, 13, 14 years like this
dat ik daarna ook even gewoon
that I can just do something afterwards too
alleen met die
only with that
patiënt met dat patiëntje
patient with that little patient
will be and to see if there really is a
heel erg verschil is in het gedrag
there is a very big difference in behavior
ja als iemand heel erg stil is
yes if someone is very quiet
en
and
papa mama zijn erbij
Dad and mom are here.
You're very quiet, can you imagine that?
How do you react when you are alone with me?
dan ben ik dan even
then I will be there for a moment
even eng he maar daarna wordt het wel
Just a little tight, but afterwards it will be fine.
less and do you see that as well or does it remain
het ook zo
it's so too
heb je nou het idee dan
do you have that idea then
after reading Nina's book
and the conversation you had with her
achteraf gezien
in retrospect
zijn er dan inderdaad situaties
Are there indeed situations?
waarvan je denkt van
which you think of
misschien heb ik daar iets gemist
Maybe I missed something there.
is het moeilijk te zeggen
is it difficult to say
nee dat weet ik niet
no, I don't know that
nee
no
maar ik kijk er wel scherper naar
but I am looking at it more closely
ja
yes
so that is indeed a win for me
opgeleverd
delivered
ja
yes
we zijn een beetje aan het einde
we are a bit at the end
van het gesprek
from the conversation
wil jij nog ergens op terugkomen
Do you want to revisit anything?
nee
no
still something that you of well I here
nou ik hier toch zit he
Well, here I am then.
dan kan ik even
then I can just
laat gaan dan blijf ik praten
Let go and I will keep talking.
nee laat het hier
no, leave it here
wil jij nog ergens
do you want to go somewhere else?
ja ik
yes I
ik heb ook
I have too.
nou
well
ik heb wel een vraag
I do have a question.
eigenlijk wat mij
actually what me
en het is algemeen een vraag
and it is generally a question
wij hebben in de
we have in the
kijk een arts heeft altijd co-schappen
Look, a doctor always has internships.
en stages en alles
and internships and everything
de
the
fysiotherapeut ook heeft een stagejaar
physiotherapist also has a internship year
ziet heel veel patiënten eerst samen
sees many patients together first
then slowly alone then it is the drafting of
de behandelplan
the treatment plan
a psychologist who is done with a universe
een universitaire opleiding
a university education
heeft nooit een patiënt gezien
has never seen a patient
oh wow
oh wauw
I'm not quite sure how things are these days.
nu
now
in mijn tijd wel
in my time, yes
Yes, I did have a comprehensive internship.
van een maand of negen
for about nine months
I really need nine months as well.
stage gelopen
completed an internship
diagnostiek behandeling gedaan
diagnostics treatment done
then I don't want to say that I was ready for it then
echt helemaal niet
really not at all
nee zelfs
no even
dat vind ik
I think that.
eigenlijk best raar
actually quite strange
dan heb je je diploma gehaald
then you have passed your diploma
heb je universitaire opleiding opgerond
Did you complete your university education?
en dan ga je het werkveld in
and then you enter the workforce
en dat is je eerste patiënt dan
and that is your first patient then
zeker
certainly
bijzonder
special
eigenlijk kwalijk
actually bad
As a psychologist, you definitely have a long way to go.
met je psychologie
with your psychology
and then you may still be a clinical psychologist for 2 years
voordat je dan echt
before you actually
je hebt weinig opleidingsplekken
you have few training positions
Then you always have to fight a little for yourself.
dus de eerste jaren jezelf kwetsbaar opstellen
so, in the first years, making yourself vulnerable
dat staat ook een beetje in
that's a bit included too
op een spannen voet
on a tense footing
but I still need to get into the training.
dus laten zien
so show it
dat je het niet weet
that you don’t know it
is dan misschien lastiger
is then maybe more difficult
en daarna mag je misschien als psycholoog
and then you might be able to work as a psychologist
nog 4 jaar klinisch psycholoog opleiding doen
still 4 years of clinical psychology training to go
als je dat zou willen
if you would like that
maar goed
but good
ja nee
yes no
als dat inderdaad niet meer erin zit
if that indeed is no longer in there
ik heb dat laatst gehoord van iemand
I heard that recently from someone.
die zei dat zit geen stage meer
that said there is no more internship
had jij ook gehoord
did you hear too
had ik ook gehoord
I had heard that too.
ja ik vind dat heel vreemd
Yes, I find that very strange.
snap ik niet
I don't understand.
How are you supposed to learn the subject if you can't practice?
then I hope those basic psychologists
in een instelling of in een praktijk
in an institution or in a practice
gewoon rustig kunnen starten
just being able to start calmly
met eens meekijken
let's take a look together
en gewoon wat oefenen
and just some practice
met de gesprekstechnieken
with the conversation techniques
ja
yes
and it's not always in it either
het zit hem soms ook gewoon in
sometimes it's just in
maar wat ik straks zei
but what I said earlier
dat je je verdiept in iemand
that you immerse yourself in someone
interesse hebt
have interest
you might have that as a basic psychologist
en dat je gewoon eens een
and that you just once a
vraag stelt
asks a question
juist vanuit die onbevangenheid
just from that naivety
of nog niet alles weten
or not everything knows yet
waardoor je iemand
causing someone
aan het denken zet
makes you think
niet altijd op een ramp of zo
not always about a disaster or something
te draaien
to turn
It would be nice for the psychologist themselves.
ook wat feeling te zijn
also to have some feeling
wie ben ik nou als psycholoog
Who am I as a psychologist?
ja wat is mijn
yes what is my
ja
yes
weet je wat is mijn stijltje
Do you know what my style is?
hoe presenteer ik mij
how do I present myself
ja wat is mijn stijl
Yeah, what is my style?
er mag ook verschil in zitten
There may also be a difference in it.
je mag ook jezelf zijn
you may also be yourself
vind ik als psycholoog
I think as a psychologist.
hoe we niet allemaal van die typische
how we don't all have those typical
nee dat klopt
no that’s correct
ok
ok
ik vond het een leuk gesprek
I found it a nice conversation.
bedankt voor jouw vragen
thank you for your questions
ik vond het leuk
I enjoyed it.
