We gaan het hebben over jouw werk Theater of Silence, ofwel het theater van de stilte.

We are going to talk about your work Theater of Silence, or the theater of silence.

We zien een soort amfitheater gemaakt van een antieke houten kaasmal die tot de nok toe gevuld zit met die kenmerkende kleurrijke poppetjes.

We see a sort of amphitheater made from an antique wooden cheese mold that is filled to the brim with those characteristic colorful figurines.

En die collectief roerloos en apathisch staren naar het reizende water in hun midden.

And they collectively stare motionless and apathetically at the traveling water in their midst.

De meeste poppetjes zijn al lang verdwenen onder water.

Most little figures have long since disappeared underwater.

Zit jij zelf ook in het publiek?

Are you also in the audience?

Ja, zeker zit ik er tussen.

Yes, of course I'm among them.

Dit werk gaat eigenlijk niet eens zozeer alleen over hoe wij als collectief falen.

This work is not even so much about how we as a collective fail.

Maar als wij als collectief falen, falen wij ook als individu.

But if we fail as a collective, we also fail as individuals.

En dat geldt ook voor mijzelf.

And that applies to me as well.

Daarom zit ik er ook tussen.

That's why I'm also involved.

Je moet je voorstellen voor de luisteraars, ik heb een groot kaal hoofd met een rood ringbaardje.

You should introduce yourself to the listeners, I have a big bald head with a red goatee.

En dat heeft een nadeel dat je niet heel erg charismatisch overkomt.

And that has the disadvantage that you don't come across as very charismatic.

Maar het heeft een voordeel dat je heel makkelijk jezelf als zelfportret kan vangen.

But it has an advantage that you can easily capture yourself as a self-portrait.

En dat doe ik dan ook voortdurend in mijn kunstwerken.

And I do that continuously in my artwork.

Dus ik zit hier ook ergens tussen met mijn handen over elkaar.

So I’m sitting here somewhere with my hands crossed.

En te wachten en te kijken en te staren naar dat water dat maar reist.

And waiting and watching and staring at that water that just keeps moving.

En maar hopen dat het niet verder reist.

And just hope that it doesn't travel further.

Maar dat is een tevergeefse hoop.

But that is a vain hope.

Want er zijn al honderden, zo niet duizenden poppetjes verdwenen onder het water.

Because there are already hundreds, if not thousands, of little figures that have disappeared under the water.

Want wat is de boodschap van het werk?

For what is the message of the work?

Dat het tijd wordt om op te staan.

That it is time to get up.

Dat het tijd wordt om wat te doen.

That it's time to take action.

Dat we dit probleem niet gaan oplossen door met onze armen over elkaar te blijven zitten en hopen dat het goed komt.

That we are not going to solve this problem by sitting with our arms crossed and hoping that it will turn out well.

Ja, want het ziet er op het eerste gezicht heel kleurrijk en vrolijk uit.

Yes, because at first glance it looks very colorful and cheerful.

Maar als je dus langer kijkt, dan begrijpt je toch dat macabere gevoel van het is tijd, we moeten iets doen.

But if you look longer, then you understand that macabre feeling of it's time, we have to do something.

Er speelt zich een desastreuze ramp af.

A disastrous disaster is unfolding.

We zitten erbij, we kijken ernaar.

We're sitting by, we're watching it.

Ja, dat is dus zeker wel de bedoeling.

Ik maak inderdaad hele vrolijke kunstwerken over sombere onderwerpen.

I indeed create very cheerful artworks about gloomy subjects.

En een klant van mij die heeft het een keer, is met de mooie term gekomen, tragisch realisme.

And a client of mine once came up with the beautiful term, tragic realism.

En dat is inderdaad ook wat dit is.

And that is indeed what this is.

Ik wil als kunstenaar niet te belerend zijn.

I don't want to be too didactic as an artist.

Ik heb niet de illusie dat ik de wijsheid in pacht heb.

I do not have the illusion that I possess wisdom.

Maar in dit onderwerp hoeft dat ook niet.

But in this subject, that is not necessary either.

Want inmiddels is toch echt algemeen wel geaccepteerd dat het de verkeerde kant op gaat.

Because by now it is really generally accepted that things are going in the wrong direction.

En dat we wat moeten doen.

And that we have to do something.

En ik zie gewoon dat dat niet gebeurt.

And I just see that that's not happening.

En ik voel het als een morele plicht, als kunstenaar, om dit soort onderwerpen ook aan te snijden.

And I feel it as a moral obligation, as an artist, to address these kinds of subjects as well.

Om mensen wakker te schudden.

To shake people awake.

Om ze in beweging te krijgen.

To get them moving.

Want hoe kwam je op het idee?

Because how did you come up with the idea?

Ja, dat is altijd een moeilijke.

Yes, that is always a difficult one.

Dat is een soort stoofpotje is het bijna.

It's almost like a kind of stew.

Van dingen die je ziet, voelt, materialen die je hebt.

From things you see, feel, materials you have.

Ik spaar heel veel oude kunstvoorwerpen op.

I collect a lot of old art objects.

En oude gebruiksvoorwerpen.

And old utensils.

En ik heb een antiekzaak naast mij zitten.

And I have an antique shop next to me.

En daar heb ik een keer zo'n kaasmal gezien.

And there I once saw such a cheese mold.

En daar heb ik heel lang naar zitten kijken.

And I have been looking at that for a long time.

En op een gegeven moment denk je van, nou, wat nou als ik dit en wat nou als ik dat.

And at a certain point, you think, well, what if I do this and what if I do that.

En aanvankelijk wilde ik hem allemaal met dezelfde grote poppetjes.

And at first, I wanted them all with the same big dolls.

Maar dan zit er, dan is het minder interessant.

But then it's less interesting.

Dan wordt het zo'n maquette.

Then it will be such a model.

Want er zijn verschillende groottes.

Because there are different sizes.

And that means they are about a centimeter tall.

En door iedere volgende laag kleinere poppetjes te gaan gebruiken, krijg je een extreme dieptesensatie.

And by using smaller figures for each subsequent layer, you get an extreme sense of depth.

Je hebt het gevoel alsof je in een duizelingwekkende diepe arena.

You feel like you’re in a dizzying deep arena.

En dat wil ik ook.

And I want that too.

Mensen hebben het gevoel dat ze in dit kunstwerk vallen.

People feel that they are falling into this artwork.

En dat zuigt ze er letterlijk en figuurlijk in.

And that literally and figuratively sucks her in.

Ja, precies.

Yes, exactly.

En wordt dit werk of werk over klimaat eigenlijk goed verkocht?

And is this work or work on climate actually selling well?

Wat vinden je klanten hiervan?

What do your customers think of this?

Ja, het verkoopt heel goed eigenlijk.

Yes, it actually sells very well.

Alles verkoopt hier wel.

Everything sells well here.

Ik ben accountant geweest.

I have been an accountant.

Zo zie ik er ook nog steeds uit.

I still look like that.

Maar ik hou dat heel concreet bij.

But I keep that very concrete.

En de afgelopen 16 jaar, alles wat ik heb gemaakt, is zo'n 92% verkocht.

And over the past 16 years, about 92% of everything I have made has been sold.

Dus dat is heel hoog.

So that is very high.

En dit soort werken eigenlijk verkopen helemaal goed, vind ik.

And I actually think this type of work sells really well.

Omdat ik heel erg proef dat mensen...

Because I can really taste that people...

...zich concreet zorgen maken en dit is ook voor hun een soort statement...

...to concretely worry and this is also a kind of statement for them...

...waar aan welke kant van het verhaal zij eigenlijk staan.

...on which side of the story they actually stand.

Door dit werk te kopen, kopen ze niet alleen iets wat mooi boven de bank is.

By buying this work, they are not only purchasing something that looks beautiful above the couch.

Het is ook mooi boven de bank.

It is also nice above the couch.

Maar het is ook een statement waarin zij zelf willen zeggen...

But it is also a statement in which they want to say...

...de natuur gaat mij echt aan het hart en ik maak mij zorgen.

Het is misschien ook een conversation starter met mensen die ze ontvangen thuis.

En daar draag jij dan aan bij.

En terwijl er dus zo'n succes is met de verkoop...

And while there is such success with the sales...

...en er is blijkbaar genoeg vraag naar...

...and there seems to be enough demand for it...

...waarom zijn er dan toch zo relatief weinig kunstenaars...

...why are there still so relatively few artists...

...we bespreken in deze podcast met heel veel kunstenaars...

...maar toch relatief weinig kunstenaars met het onderwerp bezig?

...but still relatively few artists engaged with the subject?

Ehm...

Ehm...

Nou, weet je, dat het heel succesvol is...

Well, you know, that it is very successful...

...dan moet ik in alle eerlijkheid zeggen...

...then I must honestly say...

...dat dat niet alleen met creatief talent te maken heeft...

...maar ja, ik pak de dingen gewoon ook handig aan.

...en ik denk dat het meer daarom verkoopt.

Waarom veel kunstenaars er niet mee bezig zijn...

Why many artists are not working on it...

...ja, dat weet ik eigenlijk niet echt.

Ik ben autodidact en dat heeft een voor- en een nadeel.

I am self-taught and that has an advantage and a disadvantage.

Ik denk dat het voordeel is dat je heel erg je eigen weg zoekt...

I think the advantage is that you really find your own way...

...en op een gegeven moment ook vindt.

En ik vind van de kunstacademie...

...daar wordt nogal eens een bepaalde indoctrine opgelegd...

En daar ga je ook mee verder.

Onlangs heb ik een heel groot portret van een meisje met een parel gemaakt.

Recently, I created a very large portrait of a girl with a pearl.

Die was voor het Vermeercentrum.

That was for the Vermeer Center.

Daar wordt die op dit moment geëxposeerd.

It is currently being exhibited there.

Dus dat is hartstikke leuk.

So that's really nice.

We zijn natuurlijk in Delft, dus dat is heel passend.

We are of course in Delft, so that is very fitting.

Dat vond ik wel een mooie.

I thought that was nice.

Ook een beetje om te symboliseren dat het zo'n universeel icoon was...

Also a bit to symbolize that it was such a universal icon...

...dat dat meisje is eigenlijk van ons allemaal.

...that girl actually belongs to all of us.

Wij vormen samen dat meisje met de parel.

We together embody that girl with the pearl.

Maar dat bracht me ook wel weer gelijk op een volgend idee.

Dat is wel vaak een teken van een goed idee.

...dan is het meestal ook niet zo'n heel goed idee.

Dan is het een doodlopende weg.

En in dit geval dacht ik gelijk...

...wat ik eigenlijk wil maken...

...is gewoon een hele grote afbeelding van de planeet aarde.

...is just a very large image of the planet Earth.

Zwart eromheen, blauw, groen, de zeeën, wolken, alles erin.

Black around it, blue, green, the seas, clouds, everything in it.

Maar volledig gemaakt van poppetjes.

But completely made of little figures.

Maar als ik dat wil gaan doen, dan heb ik wel aardig wat nodig.

But if I want to do that, then I will need quite a bit.

Want dat wordt een enorm groot werk.

Sinds ik dat idee heb, dat laat me niet meer los.

En ook omdat ik het een belangrijke boodschap vind.

Dus daar ben ik heel erg ongeduldig voor...

Ja, en je bent duidelijk een man van de radicale verbeelding.

Dan is mijn laatste vraag.

...en die poppetjes, die komen ineens wel in beweging.

Hoe zou dat zijn?

How would that be?

Ja, hoe zou dat zijn?

Dat is een moeilijke vraag.

That's a difficult question.

Ik denk dat ze zich kapotgeschrokken zijn...

I think they were utterly shocked...

...van alle familieleden die inmiddels al onder de zeespiegel zijn verdwenen.

...of all the family members who have since disappeared below sea level.

Maar als dat poppetjes zijn zoals wij als mensen op dit moment zijn...

But if those are little figures like we humans are at this moment...

...dan ben ik bang dat ze gewoon blijven zitten.

...then I'm afraid they will just stay seated.

Dus ik hoop dat deze poppetjes uit een beter hout gesneden zijn...

So I hope these little figures are made of better wood...

...dan wij als samenleving.

...than we as a society.

Wat is daarvoor nodig?

What is needed for that?

Leiderschap, dat ontbreekt.

Leadership is lacking.

Dat ontbreekt echt in deze wereld op dit moment.

That is really lacking in this world at the moment.

Er is niet een land, een leider, een macht die bepaalt...

There is not a country, a leader, a power that determines...

...jongens, dit gaat echt niet goed.

...guys, this is really not going well.

We moeten een andere koers varen.

We need to take a different course.

Dit werk is politiek.

This work is political.

Jazeker, ja, absoluut.

Yes, certainly, yes, absolutely.

Dit gaat ook...

This is also fine...

Echt over dat gebrek aan leiderschap wat ontbreekt.

Really about that lack of leadership that is missing.

Maar dat is het niet alleen.

But that's not all.

Want het is heel erg makkelijk om het af te schuiven op leiderschap.

Because it is very easy to shift the blame onto leadership.

In de tijd dat er nog geen leider is, moeten we dat toch echt zelf oppakken.

In the time when there is still no leader, we really have to take that on ourselves.

En sommige mensen doen dat, maar heel veel ook niet.

And some people do that, but a lot of people do not.

Te veel niet, waardoor het nog steeds de verkeerde kant op gaat.

Dus het roept ook op tot een soort persoonlijke verantwoordelijkheid...

So it also calls for a kind of personal responsibility...

En dat doen we veel te weinig.

En wat nou als we het dus wel zouden doen?

Uiteindelijk, hoe je het ook went of keert, je zal minder moeten gaan consumeren.

En hoe ziet de wereld er dan uit?

So it will get worse for a while and the teeth will be on edge.

Maar er is wel één lichtpunt, vind ik.

But I do see one silver lining, I think.

Op het moment dat je zoiets met z'n allen als samenleving of als wereld onderneemt...

At the moment that you undertake something like that together as a society or as a world...

...ik denk dat je wel een groter collectief bewustzijn gaat krijgen.

...I think you will have a greater collective awareness.

En misschien is dat de enige troost.

And maybe that is the only comfort.

Dat besef dat we niet alleen zijn...

That realization that we are not alone...

...maar dat wij het lot van de planeet gezamenlijk dragen.

...but that we share the fate of the planet together.

Dat minder in ieder geval zelf dat initiatief daartoe nemen.

That at least takes the initiative to do so less.

Dus wij zorgen ervoor dat we echt naar die jongeren toe gaan...

So we make sure that we really reach out to those young people...

...om met hen in gesprek te gaan over hele belangrijke thema's...

...to engage with them in conversation about very important themes...

...en dat we die input vervolgens ook doorsluizen naar de politiek.

...and that we subsequently pass that input on to politics.

En die belangrijke thema's, dat gaat natuurlijk over klimaat en duurzaamheid.

And those important themes, of course, are about climate and sustainability.

En wat is nou het ultieme doel?

Nou ja, ik denk ons ultieme doel is toch wel een anderhalve graad samenleving.

Dus we gaan in gesprek met de jongeren, daar halen we die input op.

So we will talk to the young people, that’s where we will gather that input.

So how do we travel then? How do we live then?

Onze vorige agenda, Jonge Klimaatagenda 2019, ging over 2050.

Our previous agenda, Young Climate Agenda 2019, was about 2050.

En sindsdien hebben we denk ik toch ook de realisatie opgedaan...

...dat 2050 eigenlijk veel te laat is.

...that 2050 is actually much too late.

Het moet sneller.

En die gedragsverandering, dat wordt in Politiek Den Haag heel vaak vergeten.

And that behavioral change is often forgotten in Political The Hague.

Denk bijvoorbeeld aan een campagne om minder vlees te gaan eten...

...die een paar jaar geleden werd afgeschoten omdat het controversieel zou zijn.

...that was shot down a few years ago because it was considered controversial.

Terwijl grote internationale...

...wetenschappelijke bureaus, zoals het IPCC van de Verenigde Naties...

...scientific agencies, such as the UN's IPCC...

...zeggen eigenlijk heel duidelijk dat die gedragsverandering...

...actually say very clearly that that behavior change...

...hoewel het nog vaak wordt verwaarloosd...

...voor 40 tot 70 procent extra emissiereductie kan leiden.

Dus als we er toe weten te komen dat mensen echt anders zich gaan gedragen...

...dus minder spullen bijvoorbeeld kopen via de Alibaba...

...en maar oneindig veel kleding kopen bij de Primark...

...and only buy infinite amounts of clothing at Primark...

...en veel meer tweedehands en uit de eigen omgeving...

...and much more second-hand and from the local area...

...dat soort dingen zorgen er uiteindelijk voor...

...that kind of thing ultimately leads to...

...dat we echt een hele grote extra slag kunnen maken op die klimaatdoelen.

...that we can really make a huge additional effort towards those climate goals.

En is dus echt wel een stap ook nog wat bovenop...

And it really is a step on top of that...

...en extra bijvoorbeeld dingen zoals een industriepolitiek.

...and extra things like an industrial policy, for example.

Ja, en hoe krijgen we die gedragsverandering voor elkaar?

Yes, and how do we achieve that behavioral change?

Nou, wij hebben in onze jonge klimaatagenda...

Well, we have in our young climate agenda...

...hebben we het heel erg over bijvoorbeeld belastingverschuivingen...

...we are very much talking about, for example, tax shifts...

...dat er op dit moment nog heel veel prijsprikkels de verkeerde kant op staan.

...that at this moment, many price signals are still pointing in the wrong direction.

Dus het is heel erg logisch, zeggen wij...

So it makes perfect sense, we say...

...dat heel veel mensen met hun portemonnee stemmen.

...that a lot of people vote with their wallets.

Als je het gewoon niet al te veel te makken hebt...

If you just don't have too much trouble...

...ik herken het heel erg als student...

...I recognize it very much as a student...

...dan maak je toch sneller beslissingen op basis van wat je kunt betalen.

...then you will make decisions faster based on what you can afford.

Dus als je boodschappen gaat doen...

So if you're going grocery shopping...

...kun je niet elke keer nadenken over wat de meest duurzame optie is.

...you can't think about what the most sustainable option is every time.

Je denkt gewoon na over wat kan ik betalen.

You just think about what I can afford.

Dus zeggen wij eigenlijk moet je die extra denkstap als het ware...

So we actually say you need to take that extra thought step, as it were...

...die moet je overbodig maken door gewoon het duurzame...

...you need to make it redundant by simply making the sustainable...

...het meest goedkoop te maken.

...to make it the cheapest.

En onder andere inderdaad kun je dat doen via het belastingstelsel.

And among other things, you can indeed do that through the tax system.

Een heel duidelijk voorbeeld is bijvoorbeeld dat op tweedehands kleding...

A very clear example is that with second-hand clothing...

...op dit moment nog een dubbele btw-belasting wordt geheven.

Btw hef je namelijk op het kledingstuk de eerste keer dat je hem nieuw koopt...

...met bijvoorbeeld een minister Jetten of een minister Adriaenssens...

Of we zijn laatst langs geweest bij Sigrid Kaag van Financiën.

Heel relevant voor het belastingverhaal waar we het net even over hadden.

En daar met hen gaan we eigenlijk het gesprek aan over die jonge klimaatagenda...

En als er een debat voorbij komt waarvan wij zeggen...

Yes, I think more about it now than if you had asked me two or three years ago.

We zijn best wel een jonge organisatie.

We are quite a young organization.

Dus we bestaan eigenlijk pas zes jaar.

So we actually only exist for six years.

Dus in het begin was het echt nog wel heel erg zoeken.

So in the beginning it was really quite difficult to find.

En wij moesten echt als het ware achter die Tweede Kamerleden...

And we really had to, as it were, follow those members of Parliament...

...of achter die ministers aan...

...or following those ministers...

...gewoon zorgen dat we overal waren waar zij ook waren...

...just make sure we were everywhere they were too...

...om maar een gesprek te kunnen krijgen.

...just to be able to have a conversation.

Tegenwoordig gebeurt het ook wel eens de andere kant op...

Nowadays it sometimes happens the other way around...

...dat mensen achter ons aankomen.

...that people are coming up behind us.

Dus dat is wel heel erg tof om te zien.

So that is really cool to see.

Tegelijkertijd moet ik daar ook altijd de nuance bij plaatsen...

At the same time, I always have to add the nuance to that...

...dat er natuurlijk nog steeds heel veel beslissingen worden gemaakt...

...that of course many decisions are still being made...

...die wel echt averechts of haaks staan eigenlijk...

...that are really contrary or opposite to that...

...op die belangen van de jonge generatie.

...on the interests of the younger generation.

Dus wordt daar een prioriteit aan gegeven binnen de politiek?

So is that given a priority within politics?

Dat nog niet.

Not yet.

Nee. Is dat niet enorm frustrerend?

Jullie zijn hier elke dag met zoveel passie mee bezig.

You are all here every day working on this with so much passion.

En er gebeurt gewoon nog steeds veel en veel te weinig.

And there is still just way too little happening.

Hoe hou je daar hoop in?

How do you keep hope in that?

Ja.

Yes.

Dat is lastig.

That's difficult.

Je hebt inderdaad ook af en toe dagen die gewoon minder leuk zijn.

You do indeed have days that are just less fun sometimes.

Het is inderdaad af en toe heel frustrerend...

It is indeed very frustrating at times...

...om te zien dat iets weer niet lukt.

...to see that something doesn't work again.

Maar ik denk ook wel dat ik de hoop ook wel haal uit het feit...

But I also think that I draw hope from the fact...

...dat er ook wel heel veel wel gebeurt.

...that a lot is happening as well.

En het gaat inderdaad veel te weinig.

And it indeed goes far too little.

Maar in die twee jaar dat ik nu voorzitter ben...

...heb ik ook echt wel een grote beweging zien gebeuren binnen de politiek.

...I have really seen a significant movement happen within politics.

Dat er steeds meer politieke partijen bezig zijn met het onderwerp.

That more and more political parties are engaging with the topic.

Dat daar ook steeds meer ambitie wordt laten zien.

That there is also increasingly more ambition being shown.

Dus ja, ik kan uit die kleine dingen ook wel hoop halen van...

Bijvoorbeeld één van onze eigen ideeën, de generatietoets...

We zijn toevallig net teruggekomen uit New York voor de VN Waterconferentie.

We just happened to return from New York for the UN Water Conference.

Een superbelangrijk moment was dat waarin we op internationaal niveau...

A super important moment was the one in which we at an international level...

...het thema water eigenlijk in de picture hebben gezet.

...have actually brought the theme of water into focus.

Misschien niet het eerste thema waar je aan denkt bij de jonge klimaatbeweging...

Perhaps not the first theme that comes to mind with the young climate movement...

...maar een superbelangrijke link is er tussen klimaatverandering...

...but there is a super important link to climate change...

...en daarbij de opwarming van de aarde en natuurlijk bijvoorbeeld onderwerpen...

...and thereby the warming of the earth and of course, for example, subjects...

...de stijging van de zeespiegel, droogte die steeds verder toeneemt, etcetera.

...the rise of the sea level, drought that is increasing further, etcetera.

Nou, dat hebben we allemaal aangekaart in New York via onze jonge watervisie...

...die we ook hebben geschreven namens onze achterban.

...that we have also written on behalf of our constituency.

En we zijn nu heel druk bezig met de voorbereidingen voor de volgende klimaattop.

En we zijn heel erg aan het kijken hoe we ook daar in deze toch wel controversiële klimaattop...

...in een oliestaat en presidentsgroep wordt ook gedragen door een olietopman...

...hoe we daar toch ook die stem van jongeren kunnen laten horen.

En ervoor kunnen zorgen dat door in die onderhandelingen als het ware...

...die daar worden gevoerd, dat daar continu die jonge stem ook in wordt meegenomen.

Ja, heel belangrijk werk.

En stel je voor, laatste vraag. We worden morgenochtend wakker.

And imagine, last question. We wake up tomorrow morning.

En het is de normaalste zaak van de wereld dat jongeren mogen meepraten...

And it's the most natural thing in the world that young people are allowed to have a say...

...en meebeslissen in het klimaatdebat. Met andere woorden, JKB is overbodig geworden.

...and participate in the climate debate. In other words, JKB has become redundant.

Het is gelukt. Hoe zou de wereld er dan uitzien?

It worked. What would the world look like then?

Oeh, ja, een stukje mooier, denk ik. Ik denk een stukje inclusiever, een stukje rechtvaardiger.

Oh, yes, a bit more beautiful, I think. I think a bit more inclusive, a bit fairer.

Ik denk echt dat de ambitie en de creativiteit die jonge generaties kunnen laten zien...

I truly believe that the ambition and creativity that young generations can show...

...dat dat zo'n grote toegevoegde waarde is binnen de politiek.

...that it is such a great added value within politics.

En dat het gewoon eigenlijk abnormaal is dat we ons allemaal laten regeren...

And that it is simply abnormal for us all to be governed...

...door een hele specifieke niche groep van mensen die eigenlijk ons helemaal niet daadwerkelijk vertegenwoordigen.

...by a very specific niche group of people who do not actually represent us at all.

Dus die diversiteit en representativiteit, die kan alleen maar leiden tot heel veel succesvoller klimaatbeleid.

So that diversity and representativeness can only lead to much more successful climate policy.
