Zij zat van haar 23e tot en met haar 35e in een secte.
She was in a cult from the age of 23 until she was 35.
Voor de goede orde, dat is 12 jaar lang.

Inmiddels is het bijna 7 jaar geleden dat zij uit die secte stapte.

En nu geeft ze lezingen over die tijd.

Aan haar dus de vraag. Hoe was het om in een secte te zitten?
So the question for her is: How was it to be in a cult?
In het begin was dat natuurlijk heel erg fijn.
In the beginning, that was of course really nice.
Het eerste half jaar ongeveer was het voor mij echt alleen maar helemaal leuk.
The first half year was really just completely fun for me.
Dus het was echt een warm bad.
So it was really a warm bath.
Er werd niks dwarsgelegd om deze groep en mensen alleen maar leuk te vinden en alleen maar fijn te vinden.
Nothing was put in the way of just liking this group and just finding these people nice.
Maar na een half jaar werd dat natuurlijk heel anders.
But after half a year, that naturally changed a lot.
Of natuurlijk, dat werd na een half jaar al anders.
Or of course, that changed after six months.
En dat ging ook maar zachtjes.
And that went quite slowly.
Maar toen werd ik al beschuldigd van iets.
But then I was already accused of something.
Ja, dat ik mezelf flirte met een bepaalde jongen.

En ik gaf op een gegeven moment steeds meer toe van inderdaad, het klopt.

Met dat ik hetgene waarvoor ik werd beschuldigd ook echt ben gaan geloven.
By believing that I really am what I was accused of.
En daar begint al een stukje je eigen realiteit af te brokkelen.

En zich een nieuwe realiteit te vormen.
And to shape a new reality.
En dat gaat dus eigenlijk stap voor stap.

Het begint dus heel gezellig en leuk.

En Jared Lido zelf heeft de wereld ingetweet dat het tripje naar het Kroatische eiland inderdaad een kult was.
