the autumn wind is a pirate
welcome raider nation to the raider nation podcast show i am your host larry depraias rogers
along with raider randy and coming up on show 637
the wacky entertaining season preseason finale against the 49ers towards the end
and we also have a possible sensational rookie we're going to talk about that
the upcoming season so says the press and a whole lot more all this on show
637
we have the preseason finale week three against the 49ers we ended up with a tie
yet we walked away with our heads up high because our rookies held down the fort
against the starters so coach ap definitely has his hand full
man he has his hands full with that we're also going to talk about the upcoming schedule
week one against the chargers the usual so says the press which will be a tribute
to raider clubs and presidents we also have the bone line yes we have the bone line
what would we do without the bone line so let's get this party started
on show 637
okay raider nation the final preseason for the raiders which finished zero two and one
against the 49ers it ended up being 24-7 and we're going to talk about the preseason finale
but first things first i wanna attract your attention to the fpl game
it's one of the most important matches in the age society for the four years
because you can picture us all kind of Aztec side for them
and you just see sort of Tebow for the first time being like theunae
you know a Kansas fan when you say Kingsül力
which has a sub accompaniment to Microsoft then this is bm u Krishna
everything is put together unfortunately that's not how things are present for us
Derek King will take the lead on and the Irish de Tak falar is also because the bm U is going to take over miss k. is aggressive but I believe will be Kicker's replacement in the numbers award and pretty much by also
The old savvy, classic, fan favorite, old Nate.
Old Mr. Peterman had 12 out of 19 attempts.
He threw for 108 yards, one TD, zero interception.
And Carter Bradley, whom the team released but brought back on the practice squad.
Hooray, because he didn't look too bad.
He had nine out of 21 attempts for 169 yards, one TD, one interception.
And our standout player is going to be our wide receiver number 32, Tyreek McAllister.
And he had a nice day at the office.
His rushing, he had one carry for seven yards.
Receiving two receptions, 56 yards.
Average 28 yards with a TD.
And then that magnificent punt return with 81 yards, one TD.
Defense held it down for the 49ers.
Again, we had our people making the cut.
And we had three sacks.
We did cause one fumble and one INT.
I'm impressed.
I don't know about you guys.
And I know that Coach AP is going to have his hands.
Trying to decide who to keep.
Because when you look at it, if our rookies played those guys like that
against the 49ers starters, then that says something within itself.
Pretty much in a nutshell, this game could have been a very, very bad situation.
I'm glad that the Raider Nation that attended the game at the Legion Stadium
got a chance to see our savvy and smart guys.
Scrapping rookies trying to make a point and prove themselves.
We ended up in a tie.
And because of that dumb rule, it probably wouldn't have went in our favor.
Because they were right there at the goal line.
But hey, we'll take that win.
And they made it a tie against the 49ers starters.
So they got to really go back home.
Feeling some kind of way about themselves.
Because, again, we had our rookies.
And we're going to conclude the 49ers and the Raiders preseason finale.
And that's going to wrap that up.
Alrighty, Raider Randy.
Do we have any classic corny Chargers music?
I know they do.
And even though they're not in San Diego no more,
I just can't help myself.
This song makes me crack up every time I hear it.
Let's put on our disco shoes, shall we, Raider Nation,
and do some boogie to the corny introduction of the Chargers fight song.
Check it out.
Los Angeles.
Okay, then that song always cracks me up.
San Diego Superchargers.
Just makes you want to do your John Travolta dance, doesn't it?
And by the way, I miss the days when the Raider Nation would go and just take over.
San Diego, especially those last few years.
And a long way from what it used to be when it was at Jack Murphy Stadium,
when I was in the United States Navy.
It was brutal.
But anyway, this weekend coming up in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium,
which the Raiders is going to have a nice battle on their hands.
We're going against our foe, the Chargers,
that finished last year 5-12.
Of last year in the AFC division.
And it was at the bottom of the division, believe it or not.
But needless to say, we have the Mr. Michigan Man himself,
the coach that everybody was ranting and raving about,
Coach Jim Harbaugh.
Jim Harbaugh.
You had thoughts on the 53-man roster.
You guys got a cut down.
What are your thoughts on how the initial 53 looked?
The beginning.
It's the beginning.
Like I said the other night, this roster isn't really a 53 anymore.
It was the last time I was in the league.
Now it's much higher into the 70s.
Since you coached last in the NFL,
how much more important is the practice squad over the 18 weeks?
Boy, how many times?
How many times more important would be a great question.
I mean, it's a couple X more important for sure because in a lot of ways.
I mean, the practice squad can be elevated to the game day roster,
to a week, to a game, without, they call it elevations.
Plus, over the course of the season, it's a lot more important.
Yeah.
The season.
I mean, they just, they got to stay frosty.
They got to be ready.
And, you know, that's really important that, you know, those players are, you know, game ready, game ready to go.
You need them ready before you need them ready.
You want them ready before you need them ready.
And the other thing, I think it's really good.
I mean, just for the mentality of the player.
It keeps them improving, keeps them getting better.
You know, I think, you know, last time around, or before the changes in the rules, I mean, a guy could even get, he could really level off, you know, like, hey, I'm parked here.
This is where I'm at, you know, get them next to you.
Your human nature takes over and you're not, you don't have that urgency to, you know, get as good at football as you possibly can.
And I think there's, you know, there's just much more incentive right now to, you know, every single day.
To, you know, be working and getting, getting as good at football as you possibly can.
Because you might find yourself, you know, in the game on Sunday.
And believe me when I say, I can't wait to see all the hoopla about them and a lot of information there.
You know, Mr. Harbaugh was our former quarterback's coach back when we was making that Super Bowl run.
When we had Chucky John Gruden.
Little known fact there for you little newbies.
He was a very highly rumored to be coming to the Raiders though.
Even though in the back of my mind, I knew that wasn't going to happen.
But nevertheless, he's with the Chargers now.
And he is going to try to steer the ship and turn it around to make the Chargers back relevant.
And I've got a name and list.
Some of the key players to watch out for.
As we get ready.
In the battle, they added a few little players here and there.
Their draft seemed to be okay.
So they say on paper, but I'm not going to go through all that because, hey, they're not the Raiders.
So let's list up the key players to look out for.
And of course, there's the sensational Justin Herbert.
From the Oregon Ducks.
And was it Oregon State?
Or Oregon Ducks?
I should know better because Justin actually was the quarterback of Dylan Mitchell, who was his go-to receiver.
And the reason why I'm bringing that up is the founder of the Memphis Raiders Nation president, which would be Marcus Mitchell, retired police officer.
His son, Dylan Mitchell.
He came out of White Station.
He was a standout player.
Was his go-to receiver.
So you would think that I would know better about this guy.
That's another story for another day.
But anyway, though, Herbert is a sensational quarterback.
He's very dangerous.
And if he has the weapons that they're projected for and a half, he is definitely going to have an interesting season.
Last year, he threw for.
Three thousand one hundred thirty four yards, which was kind of down for him.
It wasn't very good.
I know he got injured because the previous yard, he almost threw for four for five thousand.
I think he had four thousand seven hundred thirty nine yards.
And like I say, he like Burrow and a couple other guys came in the league and he caught on very well.
And he's a generational quarterback, so they say.
So Harbaugh won't have too much to.
Worry about with him because he's already set the stone and then, of course, I'm another key player, our beloved fan favorite, Khalil Mack.
And despite what many would say about all Khalil, hey, that's not his problem, and we can go on with that, it's not his fault that John Gruden decided to take shots at him and pissed him off and they didn't want to.
And they didn't want to.
And I'm still scratching my head to this day because that was a once in a while generation defensive player.
But that's a story for another day.
There's a lot of mixed feelings about Khalil Mack being a Raider.
And I mean, there's two sides of that coin.
And I really want to get into that, though.
But needless to say, I was very pissed because that guy was falling.
And then he showed us what we missed out on.
And speaking of which, he had 17 sacks last year.
Jeez.
And he really let off when he played the Raiders.
I mean, that was just painful.
But in a way, we wish him the best.
And once a Raider, always a Raider.
And he's definitely going to be licking his chops to play his former team.
That is it on Khalil Mack.
And then next up, we have the other D.E. that is up in the top five up there.
Joey Bosa.
Yeah, 6.5 sacks.
He is not going to wear his little hand boot.
He's been hurt.
He's been hurting a little bit from my understanding.
But he seems to be OK.
Also, I heard that Herbert is OK.
He was supposed to have been hurt also, too.
And they're both going to give it a go.
So the Raiders have a shot because at the end of the day,
when we have the season that starts, everybody is.
Zero.
And zero.
So better to get ready to start with a division rival and pump it up.
And we'll get a chance to see this magnificent battle.
And I'm pretty sure we're in for a treat this weekend because the Raider Nation is coming in full force in L.A.
And our NSL a chapter has something in store for you.
And the crew.
Out of Oakland has something going on in the pink parking lot of the stadium.
And I will be there.
I get a chance to check it out because it doesn't look like it's going to be anytime soon that the prayers will be able to get out until probably probably late November, December.
I got duty.
So it's always a fest.
When the Raider Nation is in town.
Taking over.
That shiny brand new stadium.
That the owner is very pissed about the Raiders.
Every time we come there, we black it out.
Physically, we're pretty good.
We're pretty.
I think we'll be about as healthy as you could be for a team going to week one.
Um, mentally, I think, you know, these guys are still highly motivated, dialed into what we're doing.
Um, I think our coordinators had a really good job throughout OTAs, minicamping, and obviously training camp and preseason of just kind of spoon feeding our guys.
Right.
Get them comfortable.
Building confidence, building trust within the scheme and the concepts that we're running and allowing guys to make plays and now that'll start to, you know, dial up even a little bit more.
And I think emotionally, man, you got a guy, you got a bunch of guys that's highly motivated when they go out there and play and, and, and, you know, you know, put some good product on the field.
I know you've, uh, you've been part of putting a team together as an assistant coach, but as the head coach, having to look at the big picture and the math of it all and how it all those puzzle pieces fit.
How was that process for you?
It was good.
I mean, you know, Telesco, again, a lot of experience there, you know, done last 11 plus years at another organization, but I think just sitting there with him, you know, JoJo champ and just kind of seeing the big picture things, not, you know, always use the word bandaid, just not sitting there plugging things and just really looking at the growth and development of our team and doing what's best for the Raiders, not just now, but the immediate future.
Right.
So we know that we got to, you know, it's a win down business, but I think it's also important when you look at our team, you see a lot of youthful.
Energetic players there that have a lot of potential.
And it's up to our coaches to unlock that and those players to keep going forward.
But it was really easy and pretty steam seamless with Telesco, to be honest with you.
And I think to the players credit, you know, they went out there and competed.
So, I mean, you guys also, we saw in the preseason and those guys were rewarded by being on the roster.
So look at it, look at it this way right here.
I know that we have our problems and everybody gets a little whatever about.
A lot of teams, you know, taking over our stadium, though, but look, it's so far is just as bad because that is definitely the Raiders second home.
We own L.A.
Moving on.
Needless to say, I can't wait.
It's on its way this Sunday coming up and we shall see.
What will happen?
Stay tuned, because I will be coming back for.
The game results after we play and hope, hopefully defeat the Los Angeles Chargers.
From all around.
Pack your bags.
We're going to take a trip.
Let's go.
We try to get you.
When we go, we go to get.
Places.
All right, Raider Nation, this one is going to be very near and dear to me because this so says the prayers moment is dedicated to the club presidents, which is the heart and soul of the Raider Nation clubs and I, as a former president of Raider Nation in Memphis, Tennessee, from 2005 to 2016.
I have stories.
But that's another story.
And I'm going to do a little tribute.
And it goes a little something like this.
Raider Randy.
Put me on some so says the prayers music, shall we?
For Raider Nation.
As you all may know or not know.
The Raider Nation has.
clubs that dedicate their time, money, and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to travel
and to support the Raider Nation.
And though there are many chapters to name that I would not have all the time to do,
but I would like to personally acknowledge all the presidents who take time out of their
lives.
It's not an easy schedule.
Sometimes we have a bad schedule, sometimes we have a good schedule, but at the end of
the day, we are at the mercy of the Raiders.
The Raiders can make or break a season for the clubs, and it's not just about the club
presidents, but the members as well.
They put their time and their money as well to support the Raiders.
We travel, we put up with the aches and the pains of winning and losing, and it's not
an easy feat.
And also for the board of members, your vice presidents, your secretaries, your treasurers,
sergeant at arms, marketing, you name it.
They're part of the backbone also too.
Of the Raider Nation clubs that continuously work hard year in and year out to make the
club a successful one.
And back to the presidents, it is a thankless job that you go back and forth tooth and nail,
sometimes sleepless nights, trying to come up with the next big thing to keep your perspective
club going.
And I know, because I was one of those mad scientist presidents, I didn't get very much
sleep, I didn't have a life, and it comes with a lot of headaches, but when you accept
top positions for top decisions, it comes with the territory.
And though each and every one is a little different, I cannot thank you very much for
stepping up to the plate.
To run these clubs that support the Raiders.
There are times when I know you feel like giving up.
You have the weight on your shoulders that you can never believe, and it's very unbearable
at times.
Dealing with multiple personalities, different challenges, and again, at the mercy of the
Raiders, because let's face it.
If the Raiders don't win, then sometimes it seems like your hard work was all for naught.
Because the people in the clubs tend to get a little frustrated, and then they don't
show up at your functions, and they decide to stay at home, because it costs money when
you're at these places.
It costs money to buy drinks, burgers, pizza.
The traveling part, and it happens.
And this is personally, personally, from me to you, because the Raider Nation itself
is a magnificent fan base.
We travel near and far.
We're very passionate.
We are everywhere.
And let it be said.
. . .
We are the number one notorious fan base that they love to hate.
And I cannot stress it more that when I have fellow presidents that I see working hard,
continuing to wave that flag, and carry on from past, previous presidents who set the
stage, I salute you.
And I just want to.
. . .
Start the season off to let you guys know that you are revered and respected.
Thank you so much for what you do, and thank those also who was once a president who set
the stage for your prospective chapters in different states for recognition and for the
love of the Raiders.
So says the prayers.
. . .
It is now time to throw your bones.
On the bone line, you know what to do.
Hit it, Raider Randy.
Okay, Raider fans, here we go.
The bone line.
7-7-5-5, Raider.
Roll the nation of bone.
Throw me a bone.
Get on there and throw your bones.
If you don't like your first recording, do it two, three, five times.
I don't care.
We'll pick out the best one.
Don't be shy.
How could you be shy?
You're a Raider fan.
We're all loud and proud.
Get on the bone line because we got some guys shouting it out right here.
We got some great takes.
And here they are.
From the nation to your station.
Yeah, that's right.
It is time.
It is time to hear our faithful bone line segment callers.
One of the prominent key moments of the Raider Nation podcast.
That is a fan favorite.
1-7-7-5-5, Raider.
Please call and leave your messages up to three minutes.
And if you get cut off, feel free to call again.
And you know what to do.
So let's get ready and get this party started.
And our first caller to the bone line, Raider Collin out of Pleasanton, California.
And thank you so much for the nice intro.
Let's hear what he has to say.
Raiders!
What's happening, Prez, Raider Randy, Raider Greg?
I know you're listening, man.
Hey, this is Raider Collin out of Pleasanton.
Hey, just glad to see your new episodes of the show.
Prez, man, welcome.
So far, so good, man.
Good stuff.
I know it's obviously a transition.
We miss you, Raider Greg.
But good to hear you.
Good to hear your voice from time to time.
Yeah, man, I'm not a big preseason guy, right?
It doesn't really matter too much, right?
I know we want to see a little bit, but we're not seeing the full playbook.
We're not seeing the best of what these guys are delivering.
They're just getting some work in, getting ready, right?
So I guess the biggest thing of interest, right, the quarterback selection,
they're both kind of middling, right?
Neither of them are great.
I did like what the Prez said.
I was previously thinking that about Gannon.
He was a journeyman, bounced around different teams and made it click for him in Oakland.
And, yeah, I hope the same happens for Gardner Minshew, of course, right?
We're not seeing the best of what these guys are delivering.
They're all a lot of CWs.
So, you know, the key thing, we can make it easy for him.
He's got good targets, right, the tight ends.
Jacoby Myers, Vontae Adams.
So it's not like he doesn't have guys to throw to.
Hopefully they can make that easy, but mostly making it easy for him through the running game.
If we can establish Zeus or whoever our running backs will be, you know,
if we can establish the run, that's going to be – that's really the key, right,
to make this.
That's going to make this quarterback's job a lot easier.
So that's it, man.
Man, great to hear the show.
Glad you guys are back.
And I look forward to some real football when we get started here against the Chargers.
But, man, love the show.
Love you guys.
Peace, nation.
Once again, thank you so much.
And I appreciate the welcome.
And you're right.
The preseason is not important.
It's just vanilla.
We already know that we're not going to throw our giveaways for everybody else to know what we're going to do.
It's just vanilla.
And you're definitely right also, too.
The quarterback, he got some good guys to throw to.
Let's just hope and pray that they can get a chemistry so we can maintain dominance
and beat these guys because we got our hands full.
The schedule is not very easy.
It's interesting, but definitely not easy.
And I couldn't agree more once again with what you're saying.
Thank you for your call.
And our next caller, he's one of our regular OG Raider Nation calls, throwing the bones.
Cheesehead Raider.
Let's hear what he has to say.
Raider Nation.
World, really.
A place to come to, a place to vent, a place to talk to other Raider members.
I tip my hat to you, my friend.
God bless you.
Take care.
Can't wait to hear from you the next time.
Now to the Raiders and the game against the 40-winers.
As I said on my last call, Raider Nation, calm down.
It's preseason.
Vanilla offense, vanilla defense.
One thing that I do want to say is I am an AOC fan, and I do think he has the better arm.
But I do, and not very often do I agree with the Main Street media, but I do agree with Chris Sims, I believe it is,
where he was saying maybe the mustache.
He's the guy that starts out while Aiden sits.
We don't know what we're going to see from other teams.
Let him get a little bit more time, and then maybe he takes over in week five.
Maybe he takes over before the bye, after the bye, and then he leads us to the playoffs.
Like I said, I really do believe it was just a lack of experience, and I'm sure money probably has something to do with the mustache getting the nod.
But I honestly do think this is probably the best overall move for the Raiders.
Now we have to see who they cut down, who they're going to keep, how many defensive tackles, how many linebackers, how many corners, all of that stuff.
I have some faith in this team.
Like I said, I'm not concerned at all about the preseason.
It's the preseason.
What I am concerned about is how Harbaugh is putting 63 in front of the nutless, boltless Chargers to remind them to ask.
Whooping that we put on them to charge them up for our first game.
All right, Raider Nation, this is the Cheesehead Raider.
See ya.
Well, as always, you know, you're giving your thoughts of the preseason, and you're right.
Let's everybody calm down.
It's just a preseason.
And a magnificent tribute to Raider Greg.
Yes, Raider Greg is.
He's going to pop up from time to time.
He loves the show.
He loves the Raider Nation.
And I'm pretty sure he'll appreciate that.
He always appreciates the callers that show their feelings and their heartwarming messages to let him know how they feel about him.
I mean, I, too, as a fan, I've been listening to Raider Greg and enjoy this podcast.
And I still, from time to time, look at some of the old shows when him and Raider Randy was in Oakland.
And they were.
I walk around with visitors and interview.
And I listen to some of the classic moments myself, though.
But nonetheless, I thank you very much for the welcome and the support.
You know, Cheesehead, you're an OG caller.
And the preseason is just that.
So you told them very well to just calm down and relax.
And nice intakes and thoughts of the preseason from you.
I can't wait to hear what you got to say when the season starts itself.
Thank you.
Thank you for the call, Cheesehead.
As always, you know, it's a pleasure.
And our next call is the Nebraska Raider.
Another OG caller.
And he's going to show his.
He's going to tell his after game thoughts.
Let's hear what he has to say.
Raider Greg.
Raider Randy.
The Prez.
This is the Nebraska Raider calling in after the game.
Ah, well, 24-24.
Pretty much, you know, 50-50 on that.
But the fact that we didn't start any of our or play in any of our starters.
And they played their starters for, I think it was maybe two, three drives.
And we gave up ten points going against our third and fourth string guys.
So, not too disappointed in that.
But the McAllister and Keaton, I think that they're going to make the team along with
the Gainer.
But, I mean, not a whole lot to take away from that game.
You know, it's all just a bunch of fluff right now.
Nice to see those guys out there hustling and getting to the quarterback.
I think it was maybe four or five times we actually got to the quarterback.
Yeah.
Stops in the backfield.
So, that was positive to see.
And that last play, my goodness gracious.
Almost looked scripted.
But you know it couldn't have been.
But there was like eight different guys that got the ball.
It's like, holy cow, what the heck is going on here?
And, of course, with the forward pass from the quarterback.
Three guys, or two other guys counted after.
Yeah, no, three guys counted after.
And he already knew what was done then.
But hopefully everybody that was at the game and enjoyed that, got home safe and sound.
And just hope everything's going good with you, Raider Greg, and the Prez.
Hope everything's going good out there while you're out there doing what you do.
And hope everything's well with Raider Randy and the rest of the nation.
Thank you.
So, until the first game of the season, this is Nebraska Raider.
And I'm hyped.
I'm pumped.
Let's go, man.
Let's get this thing started.
Go into L.A. and pound the crap out of them.
So, until then, this is Nebraska Raider.
Just win, baby.
And God bless, Raider Nation.
And I am out.
Well, hey, man.
I see that you're all hyped.
That's what's up.
And everything's fine, man.
Everything's going good.
And can't complain.
I'm just ready for the season to kick off.
And I like your take, what you had to say.
And we all pretty much saw the same thing.
And we're looking forward for the final cut.
So, we can see what's in store for the upcoming season.
And as you know, as well as I know, that we'll be okay.
And I see that you're kind of hyped up a little bit there, my guy.
Oh, Nebraska Raider.
He's a good one.
Always calling and ready to lay it on the line and tell it like how it is.
And that's what we need on here.
And as always, we appreciate you.
We appreciate all the OG Raider Nation callers on the podcast.
Throwing their bones.
When it comes to the bone line segment.
And you know, of course, I definitely want to hear your takes.
When it's for real.
We're not worried about no preseason game, man.
But we appreciate you throwing your bones for the love of the bone line.
Of the Raider Nation podcast.
Thank you for calling us, sir.
And our next caller.
Raider Jeff.
Representing at DC Metro Raider Nation.
A good personal friend of mine.
Who definitely has passion and wisdom as always.
And seems like he's going to be a regular on here.
That's very impressive.
I'm glad to hear from him.
And I'm glad to hear from everybody on here, of course.
But let's hear what Mr. Jeff has to say on the bone line.
Raider Nation.
This is Raider Jeff here.
Giving a shout out to the Raider Nation and the Prez.
Prez Rogers.
The brother that's doing it all here today.
Hey, listen, man.
That game this weekend.
Who cares, right?
I mean, it was entertaining to watch and all that.
And that's cool.
Man, it's time to get this shit kicked off, man.
Getting tired of this mess.
And what I'm really hoping for is our DC.
Defense to stand up this year.
And, you know, and be the leading force on our team.
You know, everybody's talking about the offense.
But, you know, our defense, we got some pieces.
And we got to do something, man.
We got to step up and be solid.
You know, not a middle-of-the-road defense.
You know, we got to do it, man.
I know it's going to take a couple weeks to deal and everybody to get this shit together.
But, you know, we can do this, man.
So, that's it.
That's what I'm looking forward to this year.
Just to get this thing going, man.
And, you know, these preseason games.
I'm sick of them now.
But, anyway, man, just wanted to call in and give a little shout-out to you and my little piece.
Y'all take it easy, man.
Raider Nation.
Peace out.
Well, I couldn't agree more there, sir.
You're right.
Who cares, man?
It's just a preseason game.
Who cares?
And the defense definitely has to stand up.
Kind of concerned about Wilson, though.
I mean, he's the first-round draft pick.
And it looks like people are ready to write him off as a bust already, though.
But maybe he probably might get his motor started.
And I'm not really worried also, either, man.
We just, you know, got to take care of business.
And also, yeah, man, I'm sick of the preseason.
And also, too, thank God we didn't get our players injured like some of those teams did.
We did what we had to do.
You know, we played our vanilla little offense just to, you know, just kind of get them off that rust or whatever like we should.
And I'm looking forward for it also, too.
And the defense is definitely something that I got my eyes on, too, there, Jeff.
They got to stand up.
They definitely got to stand up.
I mean, we got the potential.
It's on the corners.
And from what I gathered, the run usually was always gets us in trouble when I've been noticing the secondary.
I can't put too much on it because, like I said, we didn't have our starters on there.
So it's kind of hard to see.
And as I always say, man, I got to give it to, like, week six by then.
We should be jailed.
And you pretty much.
You just can tell what you're going to have by that time.
And as always, man, come on back and throw those bones when it really counts, man, because it's just a preseason game.
Thank you for your call there, Jeff.
I greatly appreciate it, sir.
And our next caller is another guy who has wisdom.
Patrick McDonald, a.k.a. Big Pat.
Big Pat Matt.
Matt Pat Big.
I like saying that, though.
But in all seriousness, let's hear what Raider Patrick has to say.
And he was pleased.
And he's going to tell you why.
Yes.
Hello, everyone.
This is Patrick from Mississippi.
Just chiming in for the weekly call.
I was kind of pleased and was able to actually sit down and watch the final preseason game.
Pretty much through and through.
And was looking at some of the third and fourth string players.
And now here we are now on the preseason.
It's a cut day.
I do feel like this 53-man roster is going to be the best we can feel.
And we can move forward.
Now, September.
We've got four games.
That can go a few ways.
Of course, we're going to L.A.
They've got a chip on their shoulder.
We embarrassed them.
Our ball wasn't the Raider.
We embarrassed them.
That don't mean nothing.
I believe, poorly believe, we can kick their ass.
So, I'm going to maintain that position.
Second week, Baltimore, Maryland.
That's another animal.
What we're going to be going up there to do is play against a team that plays like we are
aspiring to play.
Physical.
Tough.
Relentless.
They're known for that.
We're still a building.
We are still developing and our identities, basically.
I'm a realist enough to know that.
We can say it.
We can do it.
Until we put it on tape for 17, 24, 36 games, in such a manner that the Ravens have on defense
anyway, we'll see how that transpires into men's shoe overcoming and adapting.
But I don't really, I'm going to just be keeping it 100.
I don't think we're going to come out of Baltimore unscathed.
I can only hope for being healthy.
That's another thing I want to say.
This time of year, all I care about is pretty much finishing up this regular, this preseason
for the regular season with everybody pretty much healthy.
I don't think we're going to come out of Baltimore unscathed.
It's possible.
Totten will be back.
I don't think JPJ is going to start.
I think he missed too much.
I think he will eventually work his way into the starting right guard.
I'm sorry, left guard, but not no more.
But anyway, two more games that I plan on attending.
The Panthers and the Browns.
You guys stay safe.
We'll talk some more when we start to see this stuff on the grass, man.
Love y'all.
And like my man said at the beginning, go Raiders.
Peace.
Well, all right there, sir.
I'm glad that you're very pleased and very enthused about the Raider Nation
from what you saw.
And, yeah, you listed the games that you're going to be there.
And I get a chance to catch one with you, as always.
You give your thoughts and your insights.
And, yeah, the Harbaugh brothers.
How about that?
We got.
The Chargers.
And then we'll see the Baltimore.
And I hope you get a chance to enjoy yourself while you're down there.
I think that's your birthday weekend, if I'm not mistaken.
And I'm pretty sure that you should have a wonderful time.
And we already know that they're ready for us.
And Harbaugh is definitely going to have an impact.
Or at least he's going to try to have an impact sooner or later.
And, yes, we gave him that ass whipping.
And.
I'm pretty sure they didn't forget about it because we embarrassed him on TV.
And they're coming back for payback, or at least they're going to try.
And we'll be waiting for him.
And, as always, Big Pat, thank you for your wisdom and your knowledge, man.
And I can't wait to hear, along with everybody else,
when it really counts after we play the Chargers this weekend.
Thanks for calling, Pat.
Take care.
And our next caller, from Albany, New York, Maddie Rader.
Thanks for the welcome, sir.
I appreciate it.
Let's hear what Maddie Rader has to say.
Take it away.
Hey, Rader Nation.
It's Maddie Rader, Albany, New York.
Just calling in.
I just want to welcome you, Prez,
being the host of this show we cherish so much, this podcast we love.
And thank you for stepping up, taking the reins on this.
Obviously, Rader Greg, you'll be sorely missed.
It was nice to hear your voice, the last show, calling in.
As to Prez, I just wanted to welcome you and always enjoyed your takes,
always enjoyed you being positive and seeing the silver lining,
when a lot of us would be angry and upset.
So that's good to have, especially as a fan base,
as challenging as ours can be sometimes.
So preseason's done.
I watched the first half of the 49ers-Raiders game
and then had to get some sleep for work.
But, you know, it's vanilla, whatever.
They got Minshew as the starting quarterback,
which I think is the right choice.
A guy can move his feet.
And he seems like the kind of guy we've watched over the years
that can provide, like, a spark.
I don't know if that can last a whole season, but we'll find out.
But I remember when he was in Jacksonville,
part of me was like, man, the Raiders just got to get this guy someday
to just stash, whether it be as a backup or whatever.
I just kind of like his game.
Hopefully he'll be one of those gems, like we hope, you know,
guys that cast off that we take and become something.
So we'll see.
Just wanted to call.
Welcome you.
Thanking you for taking over.
And talk to you soon.
God bless.
And let's beat down them Chargers week one.
Well, again, my man, thank you for the welcome, sir.
And I'll try to keep being positive because at the end of the day,
it doesn't pay to lose your head.
And I know it's hard because old Raider Greg,
he hung in there as much as he could.
And, hey,
I'm not always a homer now.
Sometimes I try to keep him blowing my stoke.
I think there may be clips where I kind of let the Raider Nation
had it a couple of times.
But, you know, as it being a brand new host,
I'm a realist and I know that it's going to take some time.
It's not going to be an overnight sensation.
So I'll cut him some slack the first season because I already know
what we're getting ourselves into.
And I'm pretty sure that you know what I'm saying.
And thank you so much.
And be back again when it counts, Mr.
Matty Raider.
And you seem to be very enthused and positive yourself.
And that's what we need.
And let's see what happened this weekend.
We played our Chargers.
Thank you for your call, sir.
And our next caller is Paul Leveros.
Yes.
Raul Leveros.
I got to practice my accent.
But Raider Paul.
Raul.
He's impressed with a few players.
And he's going to tell you why.
For kissing their sisters.
All right, my brother.
Take it away there.
Raider Paul.
Raul.
Raider Nation.
Raider Greg.
Raider Raider.
Randy and Raider Perez.
So game number three against the 49ers was a tie.
I guess everybody likes kissing their sister.
Because that's what a tie feels like.
But anyway, I was much more impressed this game than last game.
And there's three numbers that I would like to see.
32, 53, and 82.
And I do see.
here today
that they made the team.
They should have.
They freaking balled out.
They played like they wanted to be Raiders.
So I know
we're holding our cards
until the first game
against the Nutless Boltless Chargers
here in a couple of days.
So
cheers
to game one
and hopefully a victory Monday.
This is
Raul Oliveros
not Raider Raul
Raul Oliveros
and like Raider Greg
would say
oh before I say that
thank you Raider Greg
for everything you've done.
It was great to
have you create this
you and Raider Randy
this podcast.
I've been
one of your followers
and
back in the day
when we were back in the bay
in Oakland
at that Coliseum
watching that 2-14
season
but still hoping
for them to
come back.
But like we used to say
we came for the tailgate
and stayed for the game.
This is Raul Oliveros
and I am out.
Well first and foremost
I'd like to apologize
it's Raider Raul
Oliveros
and I know I mispronounced
that last name.
I get it right man.
I'm so sorry.
It's not Paul.
It's Raul.
Raul Oliveros
but that was
some funny man.
That was very funny
with the kissing
their sisters
up in
Oh man
and hey man
as you said
player 32
53 and 82
they armed
they spot
32 is McAllister
I believe
and he put on
a show
and
I hope to see
more of that
and
I'm going to
Raider Greg
man.
I'm pretty sure
he appreciate
once again
for the tribute
and you know
giving your
prudence
and reverence
to Raider Greg.
He's a
pinnacle of the
Raider Nation
as I said earlier
and I'm pretty sure
that he's listening
as always
and he'll be back
from time to time
and man
as far as
like
you know
like you said
you know
we go to the
tailgate to party
and I wanted them
back in Oakland
to oh my God
I wanted them back.
I went like
a month and a half
ago and
they had like
the tailgate
reunion
Raider Raul
and it was
it was
it was nice
man.
It was
it was nice
and I'm sorry
for mispronouncing
pronouncing the name
I read it wrong
but you gave
a charge to the heart
and
we'll do better
and
thank you so much
sir.
God bless you
and
and our next caller
Raider CEO Pride
representing the
Nashville Raider Nation
a personal Raider Nation
buddy I know
and let's hear
what he has to say.
Raider Randy
Raider Prez
Raider Greg
Raider Nation
this is Raider CEO Pride
at Nashville, Tennessee
giving you a call
Raider Prez
I tell you man
I listened to what you said
last time
and I
actually took it to heart
I went back
and watched some
Garner Minshew
highlights from last year
not the lowlights
I couldn't find those
on YouTube
unfortunately
but I think we have
a better
set of weapons
than what he had
last year
I don't know what he brings
to the table
but I'm being open minded
we're going to see
what we do with the Chargers
regardless
we should
beat the Chargers
because that's still
a home game for us
in LA
so we'll see how it goes
man
I'm very hopeful
hopefully we have
a kick ass season
we'll see
go Raiders
Raiders
well CEO Pride
as always
thank you so much man
I appreciate you
and
you seem optimistic
and
very good reason to be
and
we're just glad
that this Raider Nation
is all together
on the same page
looking forward to seeing
what we got
and that's all
we can do
and I'm looking forward
to seeing you up there
my good man
and it's always a pleasure
to hear you
and thank you for the
kind words
and the support
most importantly
and be sure to give us
a call again
as always
and thank you so much
and our last caller
it is none other than
Raider Wolf
is going to throw that
wolf whistle
because it's about
the milk bones
always about
the milk bones
baby
let's hear what
Raider Wolf
howling it on in
has to say
take it away there
Raider Wolf
Yo what's up
Raider family
this is the big
bad Raider Wolf
and you know
I have to call
the phone line again
and again
why
because I'm a Raider
and why
because I'm a wolf
and why
because I'm part of
the milk bones
baby
gotta get my bone on
on the bone line
yeah
baby
but anyway
anyhow
anywho
yo
we almost here baby
eight days away
from the season
opener
kickoff
down to our
53 man roster
Raiders
it's time to man up
time to get this
no more losing records
we're gonna win
win win
win
I know I sound better
than the guy
who sang the
Prince Hakeem
and coming to America
one and two
but anyway
anywho
and anyhow
again
Raiders baby
I feel good
feel good
we got these tight ends
that gonna be better
than
those Patriots
tight ends
back in the day
we ain't gonna mention them
you know
one RIP
the other one
got a broke back
but anyway
I feel good about
a quarterback situation
I know a lot of people
a little wary about it
but I feel some
Minshew magic
I call him
Fitzpatrick 2.0
Fitzmagic 2.0
and when you have
a full man shoe
or 80s
porn mustache
you know you gotta
be a winner baby
and he's gonna be
a winner for us
we got AOC
you know what I'm saying
AOC
not the
representative
in Washington
we got AOC
from Purdue baby
number two
might be number one
who knows
in a couple weeks
but we gonna win baby
we got AP baby
we got a great
coaching staff
and Raider Wolf
looks forward to seeing
all y'all
I'm gonna be out
Milkbone's gonna be out
going in for the kill tour
so we gonna be out
and about
so when you see the Wolf
come on up baby
you gonna take a picture
maybe take a shot or two
who knows
but I love you
don't wanna take any more
of the time on the bone line
cause I'm about to go
eat some Milkbones
cause I'm a Milkbone
and I like bones
and I'm a Wolf
Wolf out baby
well there you have it
he's a Wolf
and he loves his Milkbones
yeah man
that tickled me
with the
the porn mustache man
how can you go wrong
with a guy
with a porn mustache
hilarious
and as Raider Wolf
always said
if you see him
in his Wolf costume
take a picture
come up to him
have a drink
or have a toast
because he's the Wolf
with the most
and Raider Wolf
is a very
fan favorite
new and upcoming
he does his videos
and he throws his
Milkbones every day
he's on Facebook
and he's a good
gentleman
and very good
positive brother
and
Raider Randy gets a kick
at his howling
and he's a good brother
and like I say brother
it is always a pleasure
to have you on here
as well as everyone else
and keep throwing
those Milkbones
I can't do it
like you do it brother
but
I'm gonna leave that to you
thank you for your call
there Raider Wolf
and God bless
well okay Raider Nation
that's gonna wrap it up
for the Raider Nation podcast
and I'll see you next time
we love to hear your calls
and we're looking forward
to seeing what the Raider
has in store for us
this upcoming weekend
oh man
season 2024
2025
is about to kick off
and those who are attending
the Chargers game
we're ready
we're ready to party
we're ready to hear Raiders
and we're ready to see
what our Raiders
got in store for us
and as always
as I say
whenever you're starting
your day off
traveling in your car
listening while you're exercising
or at the airport
about to take your flight
we are the original
podcast
that is none
other
than the original
and
from the bottom of our heart
from the prayers
and Raider Randy
and also Raider Greg
let us all say
Raiders
so says the prayers
see you again
