2022 Holiday Gift Guide {{Video Podcast}}
This is Star Wars Action News, hosted by Marjorie and Arnie, helping Star Wars collectors collect
better.
Hello, welcome to Star Wars Action News annual holiday gift guide. I'm Marjorie, and this
is Arnie, and this is our 18th annual holiday gift guide. Yeah, quite a many of these. And
Black Friday sales guide. This started off just as our Black Friday sales guide, going
through the ads on Thanksgiving morning when they...
They weren't all leaked ahead of time, and scouring for where the exclusives were. And
I remember going to Walmart on a Wednesday before Thanksgiving, seeing those eight-figure
Clone Wars multi-packs, and being able to record about it Thanksgiving morning so that
everybody knew to go out and hit Walmart or Black Friday to get some of those hard-to-find
figures. It's a very different collecting landscape now than it was even back in 2010,
2011.
Yeah. Black Friday sales on toys are kind of a thing of the past, and finding an exclusive
Black Friday item is even more difficult. I don't think it's been five, six years since
we had something, maybe even longer.
StarWars.com published a list of Black Friday Cyber Monday sales ahead of time, but mostly
it's like Corksicles having 25% off their entire website. It wasn't like this exclusive
item or this...
Yeah.
This specific item was on sale, so much as it's save up to X percent if you go to this
website. So we'll link to that StarWars.com article. But as far as what is being advertised
in Black Friday sales, not a whole lot. If you shop at Kohl's, then you're overpaying for your
toys to begin with, but they are having select styles of Star Wars toys, Mission Fleet and
Roleplay Sabers. The young ones, not the FX Sabers. On sale, they say normally $9, and
they're on sale for $6.75, not even 25% off there.
But you can use your Kohl's cash for that.
Over at GameStop, they do have the new LEGO Star Wars Skywalker Saga for Nintendo Switch
for $29. And that just came out earlier.
So that's not a bad price. JCPenney, where toys are overpriced, they do have 25% off select
Star Wars toys, but didn't exactly say which ones.
And you can't use your JCPenney coupons on it, which then again, you're probably still
going to overpay with the 25% off.
Yeah, because don't they usually text like a half-off coupon?
Multiple times. There are many, many coupons. If you're paying full price at pennies, you're
doing it wrong.
Yeah.
Target has it.
As an older game, if you wanted the PS4 version of Jedi Fallen Order, it's down to just $10.
This is a great reason why, if you're not going to play the games immediately, don't
buy the games immediately.
This is about $50 less than it used to cost.
And that is it for Black Friday sales.
I said it was going to be a short list, and it was.
But that brings us to what I consider the more fun portion of this show.
The holiday.
The holiday gift guide.
The entire Star Wars Action News team got together, pitched in their ideas for what
would make a good Star Wars gift for the fan in your life.
And again, with the assumption that with a Star Wars collector, you don't know what Black
Series figures they have.
You don't know what vintage collection figures they have.
It's impossible to buy those types of things for a collector.
We stayed away from action figures by and large.
That people probably...
Probably already have, or there's a high risk they already have.
And also, virtually everything in this list is still available to order online, and you
won't have to go to eBay.
That is the other condition of it.
Yeah, you don't want to go to eBay for a gift.
There's always drama with eBay anymore.
I haven't had too much drama.
I've had more drama at Facebook Marketplace than I have on eBay.
Yeah, maybe so.
But...
But first item is action figures, but a different type of action figure.
The retro collection of Star Wars figures from A New Hope, these were a Target exclusive
wave back in the day, and really impossible to get.
If you remember, Marjorie, we were checking.
It was like around Father's Day.
Some stores were putting them out in the Father's Day section where you could get ties and things,
and really just a...
It was a problem to try and get this set.
They re-released it, and now you can get the entire wave on Hasbro Pulse in a special retro
collector box for $70.
Yeah, and this is a really good gift, I think, especially if you know the person doesn't
have it already.
But it's got a nice packaging.
It's very nostalgic.
And I, you know, even down to the package, it's nostalgic with the worn edges.
So this would make a great gift.
And even if they don't collect Star Wars figures...
If they had them as a kid, this will really trigger some positive memories and nostalgia
for them, as Marjorie said.
And if they do collect action figures, especially retro collection, and want to keep the cards
nice, figure shields.
Definitely.
You have, like, an ongoing supply of these coming into the house because they keep your
cards so nice and minty.
And you can save 15% off if you use the code SWAN.
Yes, full disclosure.
I am friends with the owner of the company, but I'm also a customer outside of just being
his friend.
I buy a lot of these.
And every time a vintage collection figure, a Droid Factory figure from Disney Parks,
or a retro figure shows up, I just have a whole stack of these figure shields.
It goes straight out of the box.
And assuming it wasn't crushed and coming from Target, Walmart, or Amazon, if it's in
decent condition, it goes directly into a figure shield.
And again, if you know that you're buying for a figure collector, even if they have
some of these, you can never have too many.
That's why I buy whenever there's a discount like this one and buy in bulk.
They also have them for Black Series 6-inch figures and some of the wider figures there.
So again, if you buy a figure shield from now till Christmas, save 15% with code SWAN
for Star Wars Action News.
Now, Daryl, one of our staff members, put one of his favorite items that would be a
good gift, a Beast Kingdom Boba Fett with Han and Carbonite.
These are cute because they're just kind of weird and small and weird proportions.
And these always make good gifts because it's something you probably wouldn't buy for yourself.
Yeah, I don't have this one, FYI, Marjorie, if you're shopping.
And so one of the Han and Carbonite items I don't have is the Egg
Attack, and I like that it's the pairing of them, Boba Fett and Han.
Han looks pretty happy to be frozen in Carbonite, though.
He does.
He seems very happy.
Now, another pick from Daryl is from the movie realization line where they take Star Wars
characters, usually armored ones, and put them in samurai-type armor.
And this, you get a Ronin Mandalorian with Grogu.
I like how Grogu just...
He's in his regular outfit, and he's not wearing a special costume.
He's got a topknot, though.
Oh, he does!
That's kind of cute.
And Daryl said that this is a callback to the Lone Wolf and Cub series,
which was part of the inspiration for the Mandalorian series.
So it ties in in multiple different ways.
But I actually really kind of went for these movie realization figures when they started coming out.
I picked up a couple of them.
The Darth Maul one was very cool.
And, yeah, this would make a great gift.
Moving on to LEGO.
Steve the Ginger Prince really liked the LEGO Boba Fett Throne Room.
Now, this set is about $100 MSRP.
It's right now $85 on Amazon.
And he points out that it comes with a lot of minifigures.
I absolutely love the Gamorrean Guard there.
And the different...
One's there.
You get the Boba Fett in the new armor.
And he said there's a lot of different display options.
And it looks like it comes with about as many accessories as that Hasbro one.
And then Andrew, who is our LEGO Focus collector,
recommended several sets, including these new little mini diorama sets that they've been coming out with.
This is the Obi-Wan versus Darth Vader set.
It's $50.
And...
It has playset action features as well as being a cool display from the Obi-Wan TV series.
You know, and LEGOs are a fun Christmas gift because it's always fun to have something to put together
or a project to work on when you've got a Christmas gift.
It's something to do the rest of the day.
And also that little guard guy looks like Baymax.
He kind of does, like a yellow Baymax.
And I love that they give you all the translucent fire bricks so you can recreate the fire that separated them.
Nothing says Christmas like a flammable playset.
And then another playset with action features the LEGO Trash Compactor.
And it really compacts.
The walls will slide together.
Is there a Dianoga in there?
I don't see one.
I don't see a Dianoga.
I do like that they gave them that really long piece of metal that they tried to wedge between the two.
And it looks sort of accurate.
And it's LEGO.
And in this picture, Chewbacca's holding it.
Yeah, this is a fun set.
I really like this one.
I think I see a Dianoga right behind Luke.
See that little pop-up thing?
It looks like a one-eye.
Okay, I see it.
I was going to say, how could they do that without it?
I like that they have little quotes on the plaques in front, too.
One thing's for sure, we're all going to be a lot thinner.
Something not usually said on Thanksgiving.
Then there's the LEGO Luke Skywalker.
Skywalker's Landspeeder in the Ultimate Collector Series.
This is a big set.
It isn't as expensive as a lot of the UCS sets are.
It's $240 for 1,890 pieces.
That's a really big commitment.
And it's kind of cool.
But wow, that's a lot of pieces.
Andrew has built it and said it's a really fun build.
And yeah, it's one of the Ultimate Collector Series
that isn't going to break your credit cards to buy.
And finally in the LEGO Series, another one in the Diorama Series,
the Trench Run.
This one being vehicular instead of minifigure-based.
This one's kind of cool, but looks like a briefcase.
There is a lot of detail to it, though.
Look at all of those pieces in the background
to try to give the Death Star surface
kind of feel.
Yeah, no, it has an incredible amount of detail.
And I like the TIE Fighters with the lasers coming out the front.
And this one goes for about $56.
Retail is $70, but on Amazon it's $56.
And it's 665 pieces.
This one was actually suggested by Curtis and Andrew.
And as for me, I think I mentioned this last year
with the gift guide.
I'm new to the Advent Calendar game,
but I know LEGO's
has been coming out with the Star Wars ones
for quite a while.
And I always bought them
because they are a limited item.
They're calendar year specific.
But only recently did I actually get into opening them
and really enjoying them at the holiday.
Because I love it when you put holiday sweaters
on C-3PO and Darth Vader.
And then you also just get some regular Star Wars
tiny ships and minifigures.
It's 24 days of building something.
And it just takes five minutes,
sometimes a little longer.
The instructions are sometimes a little bit
difficult to comprehend.
But I absolutely love this
and think it makes a good early Christmas gift.
Something that people can enjoy
throughout the season
and then have all the minifigures
and the toys after.
I wish they would have left the pieces
for a surprise though.
Because that's part of the fun of an Advent Calendar.
I mean, granted, I guess you could say
you don't know where these are going to be
in the calendar.
But it's better.
It's better when they're a surprise.
I agree.
By the same token,
every so often I'm trying to build a ship
and I like having a photo reference
to see if I'm putting the pieces in the right place.
I get it.
There is another Advent Calendar
that was on ShopDisney.com.
This is a Droid Factory Advent Calendar
and was $70.
And this was kind of cool
because if you know the Droid Factory at Disney,
they have the pieces that build the different droids.
And this has the pieces to make five full droids.
Plus it comes with a gonk
that's wrapped up like a package,
the green and red gonk.
So you get six droids in total,
all of which have some holiday theme to them.
Unfortunately, it is sold out on ShopDisney,
but is still available at the California Park
and might still be available
in the Florida.
Florida Park.
Chris went the other day
and wasn't able to find one in Florida,
but that's where the Droid Factory specializes.
So hopefully you can still get this
and not have to go to eBay for the set.
But it is a great Advent Calendar.
You get a droid piece each day.
That's fun.
Especially since you get to build them.
I like that they have little hats
and the R4 unit has mistletoe
and the gonk that's the little present
is just hysterical to me.
Likewise, not available anymore
on ShopDisney,
but available in the parks
is this year's holiday droid
R6 SNO.
This is super cute.
He's got a little scarf.
He looks like he's got a little carrot nose
kind of.
And the coal
and the top hat.
The top hat is what makes it.
And his legs are even brown like sticks
like when you make a real snowman.
And what's fun is
you could take the hat and scarf off
and now you just have,
have another droid to build out a diorama and then at the end of the year put the hat and scarf back
on now from suzanne the ginger prince's wife comes another item from shop disney an ewok figure pen
holder and he comes with the pen that looks like a spear this is really cool and i think this would
be a great gift especially someone who's a fan of the original trilogy or the ewok movies because
it's really unique and it's nice to see the ewoks finally getting a little bit more love here and
there this is just 25 so a nice small gift to give and it was on sale at shop disney right before
thanksgiving so keep an eye out and maybe you can get that for as low as 17 now an item i put on
here another desk item is a brand new star wars license i absolutely love having fun chairs for
my office because when i'm podcasting or when i'm working from home
it just
makes it better if you're in a chair that you absolutely love and a company called secret labs
has just released two empire themed star wars chairs there's the stormtrooper design and then
what they just call the empire design which has a dark red and a black look to it no these are
really nice it's a little bit pricier however it is a nice gift and they do make a fun addition to
your home office
yeah i was a little put off the very first time i bought a gaming chair
because of the price these start at 450 and go up but they are a little bit customizable in that
you can pick your size of chair they have regular to extra large chairs and the two designs i'm sure
more designs will be coming later but these are available now and really cool i love the stormtrooper
i mean this thing is just so shine and this is my favorite thing about this book is that it has a
lot of interesting details to go into so i'm really glad that i've had a chance to spend more time on
it and i wanted to give it a try it's really cool to never want to live outside but it's really fun
yeah and if it isn't i'm not reading the book for a long time yeah i'm glad that you guys know about
it and a lot more of this stuff we've seen it's fun and it's fun to read but i also really like
so if this is for anyone you know who's as passionate about rock but Laura finally sees its
first book the first book is rock with the prince of the world and it has so much of a magic behind
it and i love the first book because it's very scratchy and it's very
humbling to read it it's just like the library of things i've been to the library of the woods
the first one is Brotherhood a story of Obi-Wan and Anakin when Anakin was his Padawan
done for the 20th anniversary of Attack of the Clones that anniversary didn't get a whole lot
of love this year it did not I think it's like the least favorite of the prequels for some reason
he also recommends Shadow of the Sith which is currently $15.34 at Amazon for a hardcover
and it ties the disparate plot points and details of The Rise of Skywalker better together than
anyone could have expected for surprisingly good read I challenge Brock to that I am going to read
this book because I think nothing can tie together The Rise of Skywalker I'm sorry now the next books
that he recommends are more gifty books or coffee table books if you will not necessarily like a
reading book I mean you can read them obviously but they're more of a
gifty book if you know what I mean first up is The Art of Star Wars The Mandalorian Season 2
which he says has phenomenal imagery and neat behind the scenes view that is $15.50 at Amazon
an incredible bargain for that book I mean these things usually run 40 and up and we're going to
get to the $40 and up also he recommends the Star Wars Legends audiobooks Darth Maul Shadowhunter
and the first four X-Wing books by Michael Stackpole now the prices on
those are variable depending on what avenue you're going to get them via physical media streaming but
they are free with an Audible subscription so that's something else you could give somebody
an Audible subscription for a year and that would make a really great book now these are actually
kind of special they're older books but these became audiobooks when they were on audio cassette
and were heavily abridged and now you're getting these books unabridged for the first time I
remember loving Darth Maul Shadowhunter I remember loving Darth Maul Shadowhunter I remember loving
Darth Maul Shadowhunter I thought that one was unabridged when it came out on CD but the Michael
Stackpole X-Wing books were definitely heavily abridged and now you can get those unabridged
and yeah Audible's kind of my go-to place even if I can't download them and back them up it's
a very convenient way to listen another great collectible book is The Bounty Hunter Wars which
is a Barnes & Noble exclusive collectible edition that's about $45 but it is a really beautiful
hardcover book it compiles the three K.W. Jetter Legends books The Mandalorian Armor
Slave Ship and Hard Merchandise Broxody hasn't read it but he has heard great things about it
but he says that the shelf design is terrific and likewise a Barnes & Noble exclusive Tales of
Kenobi which has the book Kenobi by John Jackson Miller which is honestly one of my favorite Star
Wars novels of all time that and Darth Maul Shadowhunter are a couple of my favorite books
of just the gems of Star Wars fiction and also brings in The Approaching Storm by Alan Dean
Foster a book that came out as like a prequel to Revenge of the Sith and it wasn't that great
but I'm glad Brock put these on the list because I didn't know of these I knew Barnes & Noble
had these compilations with the nice leatherish covers and the cover art but I didn't know about
those two until he put them on the list and so now my Star Wars library is once again mostly complete
now if you have a Marvel Comics Star Wars fan there is a nice hardcover book called Marvel
Comics Star Wars War of the Bounty Hunters it is $96.50 for the hardcover at Amazon but you can
get for $35 on Comixology and it's all issues of the comic crossover event for the Marvel series
Star Wars Darth Vader Dr. Aphra and Bounty Hunters it comes out on Twitter at Star Wars
December 13th so you can still pre-order it and have it in time to gift on Christmas
now of course Comixology is the e-comic version but this is a comic omnibus and if you haven't
seen those those things are huge these things are like unabridged dictionaries of nicely reprinted
comics the page quality in there the printing is superb I'll tell you
you have to pretty much read them at a table because your arms are going to get tired of
holding this up you might want both the omnibus to put on your bookshelf and the Comixology to
actually read because your iPad weighs a lot less than this giant book but a comic omnibus
is a great gift absolutely now Andrew's wife Michelle also suggested a book Galactic Baking
and I have to say the cover looks rather tasty that looks like
Morse TIE Fighters she says this is a nicer book than the Wookie Cookies books and the recipes are
fun and really well themed so I love themed food and themed restaurants so I might have to be
picking this up so that we can have some theme nights and it's cheap it has a cover price of
$23 but Amazon has it for $11.79 right now it has some seriously cute BB-8 cupcakes in it too
now something I can recommend because I'm wearing one right at this moment
Moby Fox has Star Wars watch bands that work on both Apple Watch and Android smart watches
and these are pretty high quality rubber watch bands I used to be of the mindset you never buy
a watch band that isn't Apple brand because there were a lot of problems with them they would slide
off back in the first and second generation of the era and they would slide off back in the first and
second generation of the era and they would slide off back in the first and second generation of the era
of Apple watches the third party makers just weren't doing very good but Moby Fox I can say
I've been wearing it for well over a month and haven't had a single problem it comes with a
couple different adapters to fit different watch sizes and they say it fits virtually all smart
watches and I mean that x-wing design little garish but I absolutely love it and I'd also
like to point out you have been wearing one that's off-white and it has a little bit of
dirt repellent but it has not gotten dirty so I don't know if they're dirt repellent but at least
if you do buy a lighter color one it might stay looking nice and also you get a QR code with them
and you can download their app and get a lot of exclusive watch faces that match your wristband
now this was recommended by Curtis and I absolutely
love loathe love hate
this idea
Star Wars designed patterned pajamas that have little like cute c-3po r2 stormtrooper
all kinds of characters on them they're coming in sizes for men women and dogs
I don't know our dogs may need those rompers oh they've also got scrunchies
and hats they've got everything
yeah I just if a pajama design theme night is something your family would enjoy including the
dog then I guess you head over to smashtease.com and the prices start at fifty dollars Canadian
and go up I'm sorry it's smashtess.com I guess Tess is getting smashed
along the same lines Curtis suggested Star Wars ties you can find a lot of these at cufflinks.com
be a little careful with that website I've tried buying some stuff there and it
was a little iffy it's sometimes a third-party seller on cufflinks.com
but as Curtis still has to go to the office wearing a Star Wars tie is something fun and
I like these designs like the one in the background that I'm wearing right now I'm
not using a lot of house
art but it's still a nice little tie and as you can see it's a little tight
you can still tell what it is but it's not in your face the way some of them are a lot of Star Wars
ties are along the lines of that dead fish tie you know what I'm talking about they're just too
colorful too much I kind of like these more subtle pattern ties now Andrew has a really great idea
anywhere from $50 to up to $500. And if you buy one of the gift sets, they come in really nice
wood boxes. And we've got one, Arnie, remember? Yeah, we ordered one a while back and the
packaging was really nice. I'm not a wine person, so the wine may not have been for me. I can't even
stand red wine. It's just not my thing. But man, was the packaging glorious.
Yes. Now, along that same line, the Ginger Prince also recommends the original Stormtrooper beer,
which has all kinds of gift packs. Looks like it's available in England only, but they've got
some fun themed gift packs with Stormtrooper beer. They've got like an Imperial Thirst Aid kit
and super cool designs on the cans. Like, really neat. Some of the
craft beers really go well with the beer.
All out for the package designs. And this is great. There's like little wine glasses. You can
get tons of choices here, but it does look like to be England only, but that's okay.
They ship international. It does? Yeah. Oh, so it does ship international. Okay, so there you go.
And I love that they even have Shadow Stout with a Shadow Stormtrooper helmet with the silver eyes
on it. Yeah, no, these are really clever. And whatever artist did these,
was really, really clever and talented. And knew their Star Wars. I mean. Yes.
And I like how the Stormtrooper Galactic Pale Ale reminds you of one of those
propaganda posters with the troops, all the troops lined up.
Really great packaging there. Now, you're going to need something to put that beer in or the wine in.
Daryl suggests the Star Wars Tiki Mugs. Entertainment Earth,
has a number of them. The Gamorrean Guard is like super duper cute.
A lot of these are cute. The Admiral Ackbar is just too precious with his buggy eyes.
These are great. And they're a fun, like, gifty item too, that, you know, everybody needs some
kind of cups or something like that too. The nice thing about the Geeky Tikis is if you get somebody
one and they actually happen to already have that one, it's still a cup. You can still drink out of
it. And in fact, maybe you're not going to get a cup. You're going to get a cup. You're going to get a cup.
You're giving them one to drink out of, whereas the one that they bought may just be sitting on a
shelf. Very true. Now, along that same line, Corksicle. I'm like a huge fan of their products.
At first, it's like, eh, I don't need something like that. But then you bought me one and it is
like so awesome. They feel more expensive than they are. Like they've got a nice rubberized
coating on the outside and they do keep your drinks cold and they don't sweat, which is really,
really nice.
Because that's really awful when you get a nice like tumbler or something and you put a cold drink
in it and it sweats. They have really fun designs. I think the C-3PO and the R2 are like the best
they've got. They've got wine tumblers. They have water bottles. I love the C-3PO one. It is like
pure metallic gold reflective bling. It is tremendous. And yeah, they're doing a number
of gift sets. Like you can get several tumblers together for $9.
They also stay hot. You don't have to use them for cold items. They will stay hot for three hours
too, which is kind of cool. And the wine tumblers don't tip, which is great when you're tipsy.
Hand wash only, but so worth it. Marjorie has gotten so much use out of the ones I got you.
I do. I use that probably at least twice a week.
And if you do want a cold drink, how about a Darth Vader ice mold?
These are fun. I love ice molds and glasses like this.
Way back when Kodo used to do a bunch of stuff like this.
Yeah, this is a Williams-Sonoma product. And what Curtis says is they work a lot better than some of
those old ice molds we used to get. And he's just happy he can have his bourbon join the dark side.
Also keeping your drinks cool, igloo coolers. Now there's a number of Star Wars igloo coolers of
all sizes. But given that we're talking about a dark side, I think it's a good idea to have a
we are star wars action news and the action is for action figure i couldn't believe they have a
vintage action figure design shown here that has vintage greedo and darth vader tuscan raider
even biker scouts and things all vintage figures with that vintage kind of oval-ish
rounded corner rectangle i suppose behind them just a tremendously retro and fun design
and it's yellow like luke skywalker's lightsaber was in vintage you know igloo is really hitting
it hard and has a lot of interesting collabs you could also buy notorious big coolers which is
kind of crazy that they've got like random collaborations like that iron maiden who would
have thought star wars and iron maiden
together at igloo iron maiden is selling out or just making money now if you want to give a really
deluxe gift the most expensive gift on our gift guide comes from steve the ginger prince
regal robot it is a company that yes they make various things and every so often there'll be a
small thing like the jabba's ds
magnets but a lot of this feels more bespoke you know it feels more like you order it and
then they're going to buy it and this includes the not cantina screen accurate but cantina
inspired seating that you can have in your according to regal robot your home your office
or your fan cave i think that price is for one chair yeah fifteen hundred dollars per chair
but steve i mean that is a heck of a gift and if you need some new chairs it's a hefty price but
you get a level of quality and star wars design that you can only find at regal robot
similarly custom made steve suggests a lightsaber box there is an etsy seller who will custom make
a lightsaber box for you and he's going to be selling it to you in the next couple of weeks
and he's going to be selling it to you in the next couple of weeks
engrave it on the top we were having a conversation about this some of the team and me about how do
you display your lightsaber hilts these days especially if you're going to the disney parks
and getting some of those hilts or the fx sabers that don't come with the display stands how do you
display your lightsabers and you have to find there are some custom acrylic stands out there
you can buy but having it like this makes it a lot more comfortable and it's a lot more
it makes it feel like maybe where obi-wan kept anakin's lightsaber with a little bit of burlap
for all those years between the time that he picked it up on mustafar and he gave it to luke
on tatooine it's really cool and that would make a fabulous gift now andrew as he said on our last
episode a former hot toys addict not so former as he did put several hot toys on the list here
the number one hot toys addict is the number one hot toys addict is the number one hot toys addict
from him was the captain rex hot toys he talked about it's got a lot of great detail a couple
cool accessories sideshow has a lot of hot toys available in stock several of them right before
thanksgiving we're on a buy one get one half off sale and i mentioned this on the marvelicious toys
gift guide when marjorie bought me my first hot toys figure it made me feel like an eight-year-old
again as an adult
it really made that entire christmas and you can give that same kind of feeling to somebody if
they've never had a hot toys figure this captain rex is one they have in stock that andrew highly
recommends likewise curtis didn't put this on the gift guide but curtis just got his boba fett
in the repaint armor with the throne and he was gushing about it so much
i'm like he probably would have put this on the gift guide if he'd gotten it before we did the gift
guide and he talked about how the throne's a little big but it looks good when it's on there
and the paint was really nice and that it made a tremendous display piece so again if you so got a
fan in your life who likes boba fett or and likes the mandalorian series this one is in stock
shipping now for three dollars and a half so if you're interested in buying one of these hot toys
three hundred and ninety now this next one might be an unusual place to buy a gift unless you
specifically have a stamp collector in your life but daryl points out that usps has a star wars
droids guide to the galaxy far far away that you can order now and it's a really cool like droid
passport and it's a really cool map of the different solar system and you get actual
stamps with it that are droids which i bought a sleeve of those the other day and it's a really
cool stamps plus you get to put like coolness on your envelope when you mail something but
the passport is foil stamped and it says it's got the most memorable droids from the film but
it looks really cool and even if someone doesn't collect stamps i think this would probably be
well liked i mean it's useful and it's got some fun keepers in it i don't collect stamps but i
keep a sheet of the star wars stamps that they come out with and yes i always love it when there
are star wars stamps available so when we send them to you they're always there and they're
always there to send out our holiday cards people will know it's from us even before they
check the return address by taking a look at the stamps although if we're sending to our star wars
collector friends it's funny because we're probably all using those stamps and then curtis
suggests it was already mentioned earlier as being on sale lego star wars the skywalker saga
i love lego star wars i think that they were the best games around and they are so much fun
and so inventive and they really do a great job of working in the stories the characters the
backgrounds it's immersive and i swear nothing beats playing a new hope level and lego star
wars is just so fantastic and curtis also recommends a more gamey game and andrew seconds
this recommendation it's called star wars the clone wars but it's using the
game system and the pandemic system is a popular zombie style game whereas here it's a survival
game where you're a jedi and you're fighting off hordes and hordes of droids that actually
sounds like a lot of fun it does it does sound like a lot of fun and likewise andrew recommends
fantasy flight games outer rim and this sounds like an in-depth game you
pick a scoundrel recruit a crew buy a ship and become more famous than your competition
dripping with lore and theme this is a game he loves and then you can add on as a gift
the expansion unfinished business that adds a ton of content to the original game and another
layer of complexity more characters more jobs more thievery i think we may have to try this
out with andrew on our next game night and i love that they put she's or
cover here with dengar yeah you'll do she's or uh stuff anytime won't you he doesn't get enough
love he doesn't yes wait until the edgelords find him though now in the home decor section
curtis points out that pottery barn kids is a great place to find decorative stuff for your home
that's star wars now don't be thrown off by the fact that it's pottery barn kids because they
like this star wars christmas pillow that has an adat in a snowspeeder it says merry force be with
you super cute because the snowspeeder is stringing lights around the adats legs christmas lights
and the ad has little reindeer horns that pun works so much better spoken merry force be with you
yeah i don't think it was until you said it out loud that it fully hit me that mary maybe yeah the
snowspeeder looks like they've got some christmas bedding too that's star wars so
not maybe necessarily a good christmas gift but maybe a pre-christmas gift or like you know a lot
of people do christmas eve gifts that are like pajama themed or something like that and that
would probably be a really great idea another great idea is to take a shower every day i
recommend it and you know maybe more than one unless you have really really dry skin i suppose
i know some older people who say doctors tell them not to shower daily but most
most listeners unless you have a specific skin condition should shower daily and you could make
it fun with dr squash soap they have series two available now and i know daryl must be buying this
because there's some emperor sinister scrub you got kylo ren's suds of darkness
resistance rinse with ray and legendary lather with luke you notice they're doing an alliteration
thing there
we just recently got some dr squash soap and it's pretty good don't you like it
yeah i do it is very clean and that's what's important
and finally to finish out our gift guide curtis suggests some sideshow art prints two that he
called out one is called the minimalistic x-wing and indeed that is minimalist it's only half an
x-wing
and the other is going the entire opposite direction with an incredible level of detail
an obi-wan art print where it's got him on the eop like he's riding away from the homestead you
can see the homestead in the background and a really nice desert weathered ewan mcgregor
likeness there these are eighty five dollars ninety five dollars unframed at sideshow you
can get them framed and you can get them framed and you can get them framed and you can get them
framed from sideshow which makes an even nicer gift because then the person can just immediately
hang it on the wall i mean we're talking nice art prints not posters that you get a little poster
putty and just put up that's a really nice poster too but the obi-wan one i like it it's very
thoughtful you know like he's deep in thought and ruminations and i like the tones of it it
would complement several rooms in our house honestly yeah the yellows and
tans in it it's just a really really nice piece i actually do like the minimalist
x-wing though i like the star field of it and it's very 70s yeah it is i'm not saying that in a bad
way no star wars is very 70s and that's a very good thing and that is our 2022 gift guide hopefully
we gave you some ideas of things to buy or as going through the gift guide often does for me
