Alors je vais sûrement être biaisé en disant ça, mais je crois sincèrement que la recherche est la discipline

Il y a encore quelques années, il y avait ce débat sur la place qu'ont les designers dans les organisations,

Et je crois que nous y sommes arrivés.

Et je crois que ça, ce sont des questions qui s'adressent uniquement à des chercheurs,

je crois que certains designers vont avoir cette sensibilité-là,

mais on ne se le cachera pas, il faut, à mon avis, avoir suffisamment de compétences

Si quelqu'un vous dit par exemple que vous devez absolument avoir un diplôme

pour être un bon chercheur UX, que vous devez vous former dans une école,

je suis la preuve vivante que c'est faux.

Lorsque j'ai commencé,

When I started,

il y a plus de dix ans maintenant, dans le domaine du UX,

more than ten years ago now, in the field of UX,

je n'avais aucune formation dans ce milieu-là.

I had no training in that field.

J'ai gradué avec une licence, donc un baccalauréat ici au Québec,

I graduated with a bachelor's degree, so a degree here in Quebec,

et une maîtrise, ou un master 2 en France, en géographie.

Et même si maintenant, avec le recul, je vois parfaitement pourquoi j'ai fait ces études-là,

ce n'est pas un domaine qui est directement lié au UX, c'est encore moins au design.

It's not a field that is directly related to UX; it's even less related to design.

Et pourtant, me voici, maintenant j'ai la chance de pouvoir vivre de ma passion,

And yet, here I am, now I have the chance to live from my passion,

et je n'étais pas destiné du tout avec ça lorsque je faisais mes études.

And I wasn't at all destined for that when I was studying.

Donc ne vous laissez pas influencer par ces personnes qui vont essayer de vous dire

So don't let yourself be influenced by those people who will try to tell you.

qu'il faut absolument un diplôme pour être un bon chercheur UX, ce n'est pas vrai.

It is not true that you absolutely need a degree to be a good UX researcher.

Néanmoins, je crois qu'il faut quand même avoir trois grandes qualités pour être un chercheur UX.

Nevertheless, I believe that one must still possess three main qualities to be a UX researcher.

La première, c'est évidemment d'avoir cette écoute active.

The first one is obviously to have this active listening.

Lorsque vous êtes avec quelqu'un,

When you are with someone,

dans une conversation, ça veut dire quoi être en écoute active ?

In a conversation, what does it mean to be actively listening?

Ça veut dire être complètement en présence lorsque vous êtes avec une personne,

It means being completely present when you are with someone.

de pouvoir s'approprier ses mots, de pouvoir comprendre la posture qu'elle a avec vous,

to be able to take ownership of her words, to be able to understand the stance she has with you,

qu'elle approche, qu'elle intonation, d'avoir un intérêt sincère dans la conversation

What an approach, what an intonation, to have a genuine interest in the conversation.

L'autre qualité, je crois qu'il est essentiel pour un bon chercheur, c'est évidemment cette curiosité.

Et sur ces trois critères, sur ces trois qualités,

vous allez ensuite par-dessus mettre des couches, des couches d'apprentissage,

Il y a certaines techniques qui pourraient vous aider à accélérer tout ça.

L'avantage aussi, avec la recherche UX,

c'est que vous n'avez pas forcément besoin d'apprendre les derniers logiciels à la mode.

It's just that you don't necessarily need to learn the latest trendy software.

Vous n'avez pas besoin d'apprendre à manipuler Figma, à manipuler Sketch,

à comprendre comment fonctionne Adobe XD,

Ce ne sont pas les questions que vont se poser les chercheurs.

c'est le même en Word et vous êtes capable de mener une recherche.

Bref, je vais vous donner cinq petits conseils que je crois essentiels

qui vont tout simplement vous familiariser avec les bases de la recherche.

je vous propose d'aller trouver des livres spécifiques sur la recherche.

Et pourquoi je dis des livres spécifiques ?

C'est que je crois qu'il est important de faire la distinction entre des livres de designers

Et enfin, ce que je vous inviterais à lire,

C'est-à-dire de vous trouver 2-3 articles

que vous serez capables de trouver facilement sur Google Scholar.

Il y a tellement d'informations en ligne disponibles maintenant

qu'il est très facile de s'éparpiller.

Je crois que si vous voulez devenir un bon chercheur,

I believe that if you want to become a good researcher,

il faut d'abord cibler ce qui vous intéresse

You must first target what interests you.

ou en tout cas cibler le type de recherche que vous voudriez mener.

or at least target the type of research you would like to conduct.

Que ce soit du quantitatif ou du qualitatif,

Whether it is quantitative or qualitative,

évidemment, un chercheur senior ou plus confirmé,

of course, a senior or more experienced researcher,

on lui demande de savoir tout ça.

He is asked to know all that.

Mais je crois qu'au début, il y a une certaine force qui est en nous.

Soit on est davantage attiré par de la science,

Ensuite, lorsque vous avez réussi ces deux étapes

ou en tout cas lorsque vous pensez être confortable avec ces deux étapes-là,

or at least when you think you are comfortable with these two steps,

choisissez votre premier emploi idéal.

Qu'est-ce qui vous attire dans la recherche

What attracts you to research?

mais surtout, pour qui aimeriez-vous travailler ?

But above all, who would you like to work for?

Peut-être que c'est à votre compte,

peut-être que c'est certains clients.

Maybe it's some clients.

Dans ce cas-là, quel type de client voulez-vous trouver et acquérir ?

Quel type d'organisation, quel type de produit vous aimez ?

Est-ce que c'est davantage des produits de commerce électronique

Moi, personnellement, je me suis spécialisé depuis quelques années maintenant

C'est que si vous avez déjà une idée précise des produits qui vous intéressent,

alors vous allez vraiment plus rapidement lire sur ce produit-là,

et vous allez acquérir une expertise vraiment nichée

et comment est-ce qu'elle a partagé...

Et je sais qu'au début, quand on commence,
