Donc, je suis allée aussi vers Internet et vers YouTube parce que pour moi, j'avais plus de liberté créative. Et aujourd'hui, c'est aussi quelque chose que j'aime beaucoup dans mon métier parce qu'on est sur des délais qui sont très rapides, en moyenne, entre le moment où on réfléchit à une campagne et où elle sort.

So, I also went towards the Internet and YouTube because for me, I had more creative freedom. And today, it's also something I really enjoy in my job because we work on very tight deadlines, on average, between the moment we think about a campaign and when it is released.

Parfois, ça peut être trois semaines, max trois mois, mais je ne suis pas sur les délais de trois ans de la télé. Donc, ça, ça fait vachement de bien. Et à l'inverse, le revers de la médaille, c'est que c'est aussi plus fatigant, plus stressant parce que ça va plus vite.

Sometimes, it can be three weeks, at most three months, but I am not on the three-year timelines of television. So, that feels really good. And on the flip side, the downside is that it's also more exhausting, more stressful because it's faster.

Oui, ça a l'air en tout cas plus artisanal aussi, dans le sens où on peut se reposer sur une équipe un peu moins importante pour produire. C'est le contenu à la maison, en tout cas, qu'on imagine.

C'est tout à fait vrai. Moi, j'ai quelques chaînes qui ont des gros, gros dispositifs, qui commencent à avoir des coûts de production très élevés. Je pense notamment à une chaîne qui s'appelle Chronique Fiction.

Dans l'avancée de YouTube et de la professionnalisation de YouTube, tu avais créé cette chaîne. Ma question, c'est est-ce que tu avais envisagé de la monétiser quand tu as créé cette chaîne YouTube-là ? Est-ce que tu avais déjà ce réflexe-là ou pas ?

In the rise of YouTube and the professionalization of YouTube, you created this channel. My question is, did you consider monetizing it when you created this YouTube channel? Did you already have that instinct or not?

Non. Pour moi, c'était un moyen de faire exister une idée que je n'arrivais pas à vendre en télé. Et mon but était d'ailleurs, derrière, d'aller la revendre en télévision, en fait.

No. For me, it was a way to bring an idea to life that I couldn't sell on television. And my goal was, indeed, to eventually resell it on television.

Pour moi, c'était juste… OK, bon, ils n'ont pas compris.

For me, it was just... OK, well, they didn't understand.

Ils n'ont pas compris sur un papier. Je vais faire mon petit pilote, en fait, et après, je retournerai en télé. Ça n'a jamais été le cas parce que… Et du coup, quand ça a commencé à marcher, je me suis dit, bon, qu'est-ce qu'on pourrait faire ? Et c'était le début. Donc, on est en fin 2014-2015. Donc, il y a déjà des gamers qui font des OPs. Le marché est beaucoup moins mature qu'aujourd'hui, mais on est au tout début. Donc, ça commence.

They didn't understand on a piece of paper. I'm going to do my little pilot, in fact, and after that, I'll return to TV. It never happened because... And so, when it started to work, I thought, well, what could we do? And that was the beginning. So, we are at the end of 2014-2015. At that time, there were already gamers doing OPs. The market is much less mature than it is today, but we are at the very start. So, it's starting.

Il y a déjà pas mal de youtubeurs qui en vivent, etc. Mais quand je vais voir les éditeurs, mes conversations sont quand même un peu lunaires. C'est-à-dire qu'ils me disent, ah, mais bien sûr, on te donne un livre. Mais moi, je leur ai expliqué qu'en fait… En plus, moi, j'étais salariée à côté. Donc, j'avais un salaire. Donc, je pouvais m'acheter des livres. Je leur disais, je n'ai pas de problème à m'acheter un livre. Moi, ce que je veux, c'est qu'en fait, j'ai un cadreur, un monteur. En plus, moi, j'ai vraiment fait tout ce qu'il ne faut pas faire, je pense, pour commencer. On était cinq sur le projet.

There were five of us on the project.

On écrivait tout. C'était de la comédie. Bref, c'était une chaîne qui coûtait très cher, trop cher. Donc, on n'arrivait pas à produire. Sur un secteur de niche où les éditeurs commencent tout juste à être prêts. Donc, là, on est en 2023. Donc, je pense qu'ils ont mis huit ans à comprendre ce que ça pouvait leur apporter. Aujourd'hui, ils investissent quand même beaucoup avec TikTok. Ça fait partie aussi de mes clients aujourd'hui, les éditeurs. Donc, moi, je suis super contente que j'ai compris que ça faisait vendre.

We wrote everything down. It was comedy. In short, it was a channel that cost too much, too much. So, we couldn't produce. In a niche sector where publishers are just starting to be ready. So, here we are in 2023. I think it took them eight years to understand what it could bring them. Today, they are still investing a lot with TikTok. That is also part of my clients today, the publishers. So, I am super happy that I understood it could drive sales.

Donc, j'ai commencé à représenter Cyrus North, qui faisait de la philosophie.

Donc, je me voyais mal dire à Cyrus, je gère aussi quelqu'un qui fait du lifestyle.

So, I couldn't really see myself telling Cyrus, I also manage someone who does lifestyle.

Au-delà de ça, c'était juste que moi, j'avais envie…

En fait, je me suis dit que toute la beauté, le gaming et tout ça, ils arrivent à trouver du financement.

Nous, c'était plus difficile sur ce contenu-là.

Et je me suis dit, en fait, si on n'aide pas ces créateurs-là à trouver du financement, ils vont disparaître, parce qu'il y a un moment où il faut qu'ils vivent.

And I told myself, in fact, if we don't help these creators find funding, they will disappear, because at some point they need to make a living.

Et s'ils disparaissent, Internet, ça va être dur.

And if they disappear, the internet will be tough.

Et je me suis dit, j'ai envie que ces profils-là continuent.

And I said to myself, I want those profiles to continue.

Et il faut qu'on se batte pour que…

And we must fight for…

Pour qu'ils trouvent du financement.

So that they find funding.

Donc, il y avait mon intérêt personnel de…

So, there was my personal interest in…

C'est ce que je regarde, c'est ce que je consomme et c'est ce que j'ai aussi produit à un moment.

Le constat que le financement n'était pas encore fou.

Et un petit sens d'opportunité de marché, parce que je me suis dit, mais je pense que là, il y a une carte à jouer.

Que ces créateurs-là, pour les marques, ils sont super, parce qu'ils peuvent raconter des histoires que beaucoup de gens ne peuvent pas raconter.

These creators, for the brands, are great because they can tell stories that many people cannot tell.

Je pense qu'il y a beaucoup de marques qui ne pouvaient pas faire d'influence.

I think there are many brands that could not make an impact.

Avec le lifestyle, qui vont pouvoir faire de l'influence avec le type de créateur que j'ai.

With the lifestyle, they will be able to influence with the type of creator I have.

Et j'ai fait un petit pari en me disant, OK, on va y aller et le marché, il va y avoir l'opportunité.

And I made a little bet thinking, okay, let's go for it and the market, there will be an opportunity.

Et c'est pour un sens qu'on rencontre.

And it is for a meaning that we meet.

Donc, je suis contente d'avoir fait ce pari.

So, I am glad I made that bet.

Il y a rencontré le marché de les marques qui sont prêtes à aller travailler avec ce type de profil.

Et je pense même qu'elles vont beaucoup plus rechercher ce type de profil.

Mais il y avait aussi l'opportunité côté créateur, où en fait, les créateurs qu'on accompagne, c'est des créateurs qui ont été…

Qui n'ont jamais été représentés ou qui ont été mal représentés, mal accompagnés.

Et je pense qu'il y a un autre point qui a fait basculer tout ça, moi, dans le fait de pouvoir passer en entreprise et de quitter le mode un peu seul.

C'est le Covid, qui a été très bénéfique à mon activité.
