1 SAMUEL - Introduction du livre
On va étudier le livre de 1 Samuel.
We are going to study the book of 1 Samuel.
The first sharing is really the introduction of the book.
We're not going to start delving into the text,
But we will finally review a little bit of all the context.
Ça va être assez pas chargé,
It's going to be fairly uneventful.
But we will dive back into the context a bit.
Il y a pas mal de choses à dire.
There are quite a few things to say.
The first thing is that in the Hebrew Jewish Bible,
1 et 2 Samuel, c'est un rouleau.
1 and 2 Samuel is a scroll.
C'est qu'un seul rouleau.
It's just one roll.
And it has been split into two in our modern Bibles,
simplement à cause de la longueur.
simply because of the length.
There is even, in the Talmud, I believe,
A rabbi who gives a little of the center of that scroll.
Il cite un verset, par exemple.
He cites a verse, for example.
1 et 2 Samuel, c'est un seul livre.
1 and 2 Samuel is one book.
Il y a une unité aussi dans ce livre-là.
There is a unity in that book as well.
And there are several themes addressed in 1 Samuel.
Before talking about the themes discussed, why Samuel?
Pourquoi Samuel ?
Why Samuel?
So, actually, Samuel is not the author.
C'est pas l'auteur.
It's not the author.
We don't know when it was written.
On the other hand, Samuel is the main character at the beginning of the scroll.
du début du livre.
from the beginning of the book.
Et c'est le personnage principal,
And it's the main character,
but it is also through him that the kings will come.
And in fact, one of the themes of 1 Samuel,
c'est aussi le passage à...
it's also the transition to...
la royauté.
the royalty.
It is really a theme that is very important.
Et on va, d'ailleurs,
And we're going, by the way,
Besides, just study that a little bit.
So, let's get a little bit back into the context.
The book of Samuel is situated around 1000 BC.
Donc, moins 1080 jusqu'à 970, à peu près.
So, minus 1080 to 970, roughly.
Donc, autour de moins 1000.
So, around minus 1000.
Pendant à peu près un siècle.
For about a century.
And we get back a little to the context.
to really see the context in which the book of Samuel will depart.
Donc, on reprend l'histoire du peuple.
So, let's go back to the story of the people.
Dieu, du coup, a désigné un conducteur,
God, therefore, appointed a driver,
donc Moïse, du coup, dans le Pentateuch.
So Moses, therefore, in the Pentateuch.
Dans l'Exode.
In the Exodus.
Et puis même Exode, Lévitique, Nombre de Théronome.
And then even Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers of Deuteronomy.
It's four books that are talking, therefore,
of what God has done through his leader,
de son serviteur Moïse.
from his servant Moses.
Dieu délivre son peuple de l'esclavage.
God delivers his people from slavery.
Il l'emmène dans le désert
He takes her to the desert.
to make a covenant with him on Mount Horeb.
He leads him afterwards into the desert to the Holy Land.
Et on sait que cette génération-là
And we know that this generation
va être incrémentée.
will be incremented.
And so, she will spend her life in the desert.
instead of entering the Promised Land.
And that period is Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy.
And we could even call it the time of Moses.
It's interesting because when we study a Samuel,
du coup, on doit étudier les juges.
So, we have to study the judges.
So, we have to study a little bit what comes before.
because there is really a unity
ou en tout cas un lien historique
or at least a historical link
pour bien saisir un petit peu
to fully grasp a little bit
les tenants, les aboutissants
the ins and outs
de Moïse.
of Moses.
De un Samuel.
From one Samuel.
Et donc,
And so,
during the time of Moses, one can see
notamment
notably
comment termine
how does it end
justement cette période-là. Et vous l'avez dans Deutéronome.
Just that period. And you have it in Deuteronomy.
Donc, Deutéronome.
So, Deuteronomy.
Les derniers versets de Deutéronome.
The last verses of Deuteronomy.
So, these are really the last verses of that period.
On a
We have
Deutéronome
Deuteronomy
chapitre 34
chapter 34
et les derniers versets,
and the last verses,
est-ce que quelqu'un peut lire
Can someone read?
est-ce que tu peux lire
Can you read?
Esther, s'il te plaît, 10 à 12 ?
Esther, please, 10 to 12?
Merci, 10 à 12.
Thank you, 10 to 12.
There has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses.
que le Seigneur connaissait face à face
that the Lord knew face to face
for all the signs and wonders that the Lord
sent him to produce in Egypt against the Pharaoh,
against the people of his court and against
tout son pays, et pour toutes les
all her country, and for all the
choses grandes et redoutables que Moïse
great and fearsome things that Moses
fit d'une main forte
strong-willed
sous les yeux de tout Israël.
in the sight of all Israel.
Voilà. Et donc, en fait, on voit
There it is. And so, in fact, we see
la place très importante,
the very important place,
de ce conducteur que Dieu
of this driver that God
a choisi, et on voit
chose, and we see
aussi la fin d'une période.
also the end of a period.
We can really see the end of an era.
qui est très particulière, que Dieu a
which is very special, that God has
prepared in advance, and we remember that
avant cette période-là, le peuple
before that time, the people
a passé 400 ans,
has passed 400 years,
430 years, I don't know anymore, but in any case
autour de 400 ans, esclaves en Égypte.
around 400 years, slaves in Egypt.
Et donc, cette période
And so, this period
d'esclavage termine
of slavery ends
par cette période
during this period
de Moïse. Dieu suscite un conducteur
of Moses. God raises up a leader
à son peuple, il délivre son peuple,
to his people, he delivers his people,
et il l'emmène
and he takes her
in the desert, he wants to lead him to the promised land,
It doesn't work because of sin,
et là, on est à la fin de cette période-là.
And now, we are at the end of this period.
Après cette période-là,
After that period,
Well, if we turn, we end up with the period.
de Josué. Et donc,
of Joshua. And so,
deuxième étape, on pourrait dire,
second step, one could say,
la génération d'après, qui est née
the next generation, which was born
In the desert, by the way, it's quite interesting to see.
that this generation was born in the desert,
she has known nothing but the desert, she has not known Egypt,
cette génération-là,
that generation,
elle va maintenant,
she is going now,
elle va maintenant
she is going now
rentrer dans le pays promis de Dieu
entering the promised land of God
qu'il faut conquérir.
that must be conquered.
And so, there will be this period of conquest,
donc le livre de Josué.
So the book of Joshua.
Et ce qui est très intéressant,
And what is very interesting,
c'est qu'on passe
It's that we pass.
de la période de Moïse,
from the time of Moses,
qui est un conducteur du peuple,
who is a leader of the people,
during the time of Joshua, who is another leader of the people.
And that is interesting, and it is
très important à avoir
very important to have
en tête, parce que
at the top, because
dans l'histoire du
in the history of
peuple juif, les conducteurs,
Jewish people, the leaders,
les conducteurs vont avoir une importance capitale.
Drivers will have a crucial importance.
We'll see it later for the book of Judges, and we'll see it as well.
pour le contexte de Samuel.
for Samuel's context.
And so, the period of Joshua, well, we can see
le lien qu'il y avait
the connection that there was
entre Josué
between Joshua
et
and
Moïse, eh bien, on le voit
Moses, well, we see him.
this, here, for example, I read it to you,
Deutéronome 36,
Deuteronomy 36,
verset 9,
verse 9,
Josué, fils de Nen,
Joshua, son of Nun,
it's not 36, it's not possible, there is no Deuteronomy 36,
je me suis trompé, je pense,
I made a mistake, I think.
it's Deuteronomy 34, in fact, I think it's Deuteronomy 34,
et c'est le verset, du coup,
and it's the verse, so,
je pense, 9.
I think, 9.
Est-ce que tu peux
Can you?
read it, then, Lydia, just verse 9
de Deutéronome 36.
Deuteronomy 36.
Joshua, son of Nun, he was filled with the spirit of wisdom,
for Moses had laid his hands on him.
Les enfants d'Israël
The children of Israel
lui obéirent et se conformèrent aux ordres
obeyed him and complied with the orders
que l'Éternel avait donnés à Moïse.
that the Lord had given to Moses.
Alors, il n'y a pas de chapitre 36,
So, there is no chapter 36,
là, je suis allé hors ligne,
there, I went offline,
là, ça s'arrête au chapitre 34.
There, it stops at chapter 34.
Et donc, en fait,
And so, in fact,
on voit une transmission, ou plutôt
we see a transmission, or rather
une suite du leadership
a continuation of leadership
et du ministère
and the ministry
de Moïse.
of Moses.
Et on voit que s'ensuit
And we can see that it follows.
le ministère de Josué,
the ministry of Joshua,
qui va devenir le conducteur
who will become the driver
qui fait suite au ministère de Moïse,
which follows the ministry of Moses,
mais il n'est pas
but he is not
désigné par hasard,
randomly designated,
it is not randomly designated,
on voit que c'est Moïse qui l'a formé,
we can see that it is Moses who trained him,
we see that it is Moses who has recognized
his call, because laying hands is imposed,
it's laying on of hands, and we see that
it's the same thing in the New Testament,
there is still this laying on of hands on people
qui sont appelées à conduire le peuple.
who are called to lead the people.
We really see, or to serve in a particular way.
We see that, ultimately, it’s a bit...
There is a break, there is a continuity.
between the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Et on voit que, du coup,
And we see that, as a result,
c'est Josué, son appel est reconnu,
It is Joshua, his calling is acknowledged.
Dieu lui donne,
God gives him.
au travers du ministère de Moïse,
through the ministry of Moses,
and then he gives her a spirit of wisdom,
et il lui donne un rôle
and he gives her a role
qui est reconnu par le peuple.
who is recognized by the people.
Donc, cet appel,
So, this call,
it is recognized by the people, since the Israelites
après, lui, obéissent,
after, they, obey,
et se conforment, finalement, aux ordres
and ultimately comply with the orders
que l'Éternel a donnés à Moïse. Alors, c'est très intéressant
that the Lord gave to Moses. So, it's very interesting.
because, in the end, Joshua has a ministry that is based
sur le ministère de Moïse.
on the ministry of Moses.
Donc, en fait, Dieu place,
So, in fact, God places,
Dieu donne quelque chose,
God gives something,
et, en fait, les conducteurs suivants
and, in fact, the following drivers
are based on what God has done.
Mais c'est pareil de nos jours. Dans l'Église, c'est exactement
But it's the same these days. In the Church, it's exactly
pareil. Moi, je me base sur l'œuvre de
same. I base myself on the work of
Steve et Laura. Steve, vraiment, il a eu
Steve and Laura. Steve, really, he had
ce rôle-là d'avoir planté, et moi,
that role of having planted, and me,
I know what God has done, and often, God reminds me.
even, the words of Steve, what God
a fait, pour, finalement, garder une direction
has made, to, finally, keep a direction
pour l'Église. Et donc, on voit ce lien-là.
for the Church. And so, we see that connection.
On peut même réfléchir
One can even reflect.
dans le Nouveau Testament
in the New Testament
à une relation
to a relationship
qui est un peu similaire. On a,
which is somewhat similar. We have,
par exemple, Paul et Timothée.
for example, Paul and Timothy.
On a exactement les mêmes
We have exactly the same.
quatre figures. Paul, c'est
four figures. Paul, it's
un apôtre.
an apostle.
He has a bit of the role of Moses, you could say.
Well, in fact, he is going to train a young Timothy,
he will serve alongside him for many years,
He will lay hands on him, it is written in the...
lettres, c'est-à-dire reconnaître son appel.
letters, that is to say recognize his call.
Il va, du coup,
He is going, as a result,
son appel va être reconnu
his call will be recognized
devant l'Église,
in front of the Church,
since he will have an authority, a responsibility
devant l'Église, et on voit qu'il y a un petit peu
in front of the Church, and we can see that there is a little bit
les mêmes quatre figures, même si, là,
the same four figures, even if, there,
we are in the Old Testament for Moses, and we are in the New Testament
pour Paul et Timothée.
for Paul and Timothy.
But there is still continuity. So,
on arrive à Josué. Eh bien, on prend Josué,
we arrive at Joshua. Well, we take Joshua,
Josué, chapitre 1, et le
Joshua, chapter 1, and the
livre de Josué, en fait,
Book of Joshua, in fact,
c'est vraiment la conquête du pays.
It's really the conquest of the country.
Ça va être un très bon conducteur.
It is going to be a very good driver.
Et on peut lire
And one can read
quelques passages du début
some passages from the beginning
from the book and then from the end of the book,
because it starts and ends in roughly the same way.
Alors, il commence,
So, he begins,
Josué 1, verset 1.
Joshua 1, verse 1.
« Après la mort de Moïse, le serviteur de l'Éternel,
"After the death of Moses, the servant of the Lord,"
l'Éternel est à Josué,
The Eternal is with Joshua,
fils de Nun, et assistant de Moïse.
son of Nun, and assistant to Moses.
Mon serviteur Moïse est mort.
My servant Moses is dead.
Now arise, cross the Jordan with all this
people, to enter the land that I give
aux Israélites. Tout lieu que
to the Israelites. Every place that
will tread on the sole of your foot, I promise you.
give, as I told Moses.
» On voit donc, du coup, que là,
"We can see, therefore, that there,"
on va se baser, Josué va se baser
We are going to rely, Josué is going to rely.
on what was transmitted to Moses
de la part de Dieu.
from God.
Après, il parle
Afterward, he speaks.
de tout ce qu'il va faire.
of everything he will do.
Verset 5. « Personne ne pourra
Verse 5. "No one will be able to"
te résister tant que tu vivras.
I will resist you as long as you live.
Je serai avec toi
I will be with you.
comme j'ai été avec Moïse.
as I was with Moses.
"I will not forsake you and I will not abandon you."
Et donc, on voit que
And so, we see that
il y a cet appel de conducteur,
there is this call from the driver,
this call to lead the people of God who are coming
de Dieu. « Je serai avec toi comme j'ai
of God. "I will be with you as I have"
été avec Moïse. » Donc, en fait,
"Summer with Moses." So, in fact,
it is not Joshua who called himself
pour conduire le peuple,
to lead the people,
It is God who called Joshua through.
du ministère de Moïse. Et on voit,
from the ministry of Moses. And we see,
So, what God attests to, He confirms.
and we are, therefore, in this period
of Joshua, which begins a period of conquest,
but a period also where there is a driver from God
qui conduit le peuple
who leads the people
and what is very beautiful, in the verses
6 à 8, est-ce que
6 to 8, is it
quelqu'un peut le lire, peut-être ?
Can someone read it, perhaps?
Est-ce que, Esther, du coup, tu peux ?
So, Esther, can you?
6 à 8, c'est ça ? Ouais, s'il te plaît.
6 to 8, is that right? Yeah, please.
So, "Be strong and courageous, for it is you."
who will give this people a legacy
le pays que j'ai juré à leur père
the country that I swore to their father
de leur donner. Seulement, sois fort
to give them. Just be strong.
et très courageux pour veiller à mettre
and very brave to ensure to put
en pratique toute la loi que Moïse,
in practice all the law that Moses,
mon serviteur, a instituée pour toi.
my servant, has established for you.
Ne t'en écarte ni à droite, ni à gauche
Do not stray from it to the right or to the left.
afin de réussir partout où tu iras.
in order to succeed wherever you go.
This book of the law shall not depart.
pas de ta bouche. Tu le reliras
Not from your mouth. You will read it again.
rouge jour et nuit pour veiller
red day and night to watch over
to put into practice everything that is written.
Alors, tu mèneras bien tes entreprises,
So, you will manage your businesses well,
tu réussiras.
You will succeed.
Et alors, on voit, en fait, ce qui c'est très beau, c'est que
And so, we see, in fact, what is very beautiful is that
comme la période de Moïse
like the time of Moses
or the ministry of Moses, in the same way,
the period of Joshua is actually based on
what God shows, what God has done
et sur la parole de Dieu.
and on the word of God.
So, it's really focused on the word.
de Dieu et ce qui est joli,
of God and what is beautiful,
ce qu'on peut noter, c'est qu'à la fois
What can be noted is that both
God said to him, "You will succeed in everything you do."
Personne ne pourra te résister
No one will be able to resist you.
tant que tu vivras. » Verset 5. Mais en fait,
"as long as you live." Verse 5. But in fact,
juste après, il dit
right after, he says
« Ne t'en écarte
"Don't stray from it."
neither to the left nor to the right in order to succeed.
» Donc, c'est comme si Dieu dit
"So, it's as if God is saying."
« Tu vas réussir, mais ne t'écarte pas
"You will succeed, but do not stray."
de la parole de Dieu pour réussir. » Et donc, en fait,
"from the word of God to succeed." And so, in fact,
there is indeed this promise of God
si on reste dans son
if we stay in his
chemin, en fait. Si Josué, en fait,
road, in fact. If Joshua, in fact,
avait été devenu un mauvais conducteur,
had become a bad driver,
eh bien, effectivement,
well, indeed,
il n'aurait pas résisté
he would not have resisted
aux ennemis. Donc, c'est
to the enemies. So, it's
beau que Dieu, en fait,
beautiful that God, in fact,
montre ceci,
show this,
but with the condition of remaining, of course, on the path
of God. So this is the period of Joshua,
and therefore, a period of conquest, a whole life
de conquête.
of conquest.
Une vie incroyable.
An incredible life.
Une génération incroyable aussi.
An incredible generation as well.
Et on arrive à la fin
And we reach the end.
de Josué. À la fin de Josué,
of Joshua. At the end of Joshua,
donc, ils ont quasiment
So, they have almost
conquis, du coup, tout le pays.
conquered, thus, the whole country.
Not entirely, we'll see it later in the judges.
Et, au
And, at
chapter 24, it is no longer God who goes
talk to Joshua, but it's Joshua who is going
parler au peuple. Mais les deux textes se ressemblent.
Speak to the people. But the two texts are similar.
There is truly a beautiful unity in that book.
Et
And
je commence,
I begin,
puis, si après, Lydia, tu pourras
then, if afterwards, Lydia, you will be able to
reprendre la suite, Josué 24,
take over the continuation, Joshua 24,
verset 1.
verse 1.
Josué rassembla
Joshua gathered
toutes les tribus d'Israël à Sichem
all the tribes of Israel at Shechem
and summoned the elders of Israel, its leaders,
ses juges et ses officiers. Ils se présentèrent
its judges and its officers. They appeared
devant Dieu. Josué s'adressa
Before God. Joshua spoke to
à tout le peuple et il dit
to all the people and he said
voici ce que dit l'Éternel
here is what the Lord says
de Dieu d'Israël. Donc, ça veut dire que Josué rapporte
from the God of Israel. So, it means that Joshua reports
vraiment les paroles de l'Éternel.
truly the words of the Eternal.
And, in fact, there, Josué is going to take over.
l'histoire.
the story. It's not that we take back the story, because it's really connected,
en fait. C'est-à-dire que si on veut un contexte, à chaque fois,
In fact. That is to say, if we want a context, every time,
on a toute l'histoire du peuple
We have the entire history of the people.
finalement juif qui nous vient
finally a Jew who comes to us
aux yeux, en fait,
in the eyes, actually,
qui est devant nous. Il reprend toute l'histoire du peuple
who is before us. He retakes the entire history of the people
depuis Thérac
since Thérac
et Abraham. Il dit, vos ancêtres,
and Abraham. He said, your ancestors,
notamment Thérac, père d'Abraham, et de
notably Terach, father of Abraham, and of
Nacor, habitaient autrefois de l'autre côté de l'Euphrate
Nacor once lived on the other side of the Euphrates.
et servaient d'autres dieux. J'ai pris votre ancêtre Abraham.
and served other gods. I took your ancestor Abraham.
Et après, il parle d'Isaac,
And then, he talks about Isaac,
de Jacob, d'Ésaü.
of Jacob, of Esau.
And then he says that he sent Moses.
à Aaron, qu'il a frappé l'Égypte,
to Aaron, that he struck Egypt,
that he had brought the people out of Egypt. And so, he resumes
vraiment toute l'identité du peuple, toute l'histoire
really all the identity of the people, all the history
du peuple.
of the people.
And he recalls this, and it is central,
aujourd'hui aussi
today as well
pour le peuple de Dieu,
for the people of God,
it's about always remembering our identity,
d'où on vient
where we come from
et qui on est. En fait, on a été un peuple
and who we are. In fact, we have been a people
qui a été pris,
who was taken,
finalement, de ce monde-là,
finally, from that world,
et on a été mis à part,
and we have been set apart,
on a été sauvés
we were saved
du jugement de Dieu,
of the judgment of God,
our sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus,
And so, we are a people apart as well.
Et là, c'est pareil, il redit
And there, it's the same, he says it again.
toute l'histoire
the whole story
du peuple pour vraiment
of the people to really
Let him remember that he has an identity.
clean, which he cannot assimilate
aux cultures qui l'entourent
to the crops that surround it

and to the world around him, and that he is
à part, qu'il a été
except that he has been

of God.
Et alors, on peut lire
And so, we can read.
peut-être du verset
maybe from the verse
14 au verset 19,
14 at verse 19,
Lydia, si tu peux
Lydia, if you can
lire ceci.
read this.
Après avoir, du coup,
After having, as a result,
rappelé toute l'histoire du peuple,
reminded of the entire history of the people,
voici ce qu'il dit au verset 14 à 19.
Here is what he says in verses 14 to 19.
Si tu peux.
If you can.
Maintenant, craignez l'Éternel
Now, fear the Eternal.
et servez-le avec intégrité et fidélité.
and serve it with integrity and fidelity.
Faites disparaître les dieux
Make the gods disappear.
What did your fathers serve on the other side of the river?
et en Égypte, et servez l'Éternel.
and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.
If you find it unacceptable to serve the Lord,
choisissez aujourd'hui qui vous voulez servir.
choose today whom you want to serve.
Ou les dieux que servaient
Or the gods that they served.
vos pères au-delà du fleuve,
your fathers beyond the river,
or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.
Moi et ma maison,
Me and my house,
nous servirons l'Éternel.
we will serve the Lord.
Le peuple répondit et dit,
The people answered and said,
Far be it from us to abandon the Eternal and to serve our God.
car l'Éternel est notre Dieu.
for the Lord is our God.
It is he who brought us out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of servitude, we and our fathers.
It is he who operated before our eyes.
his great wonders, and who has kept us
during the entire journey we took,
and among all the peoples among whom
nous avons passé.
we passed.
He drove out before us all the nations.
et les Amoréens qui habitaient ce pays.
and the Amorites who lived in this country.
Nous aussi, nous servirons l'Éternel,
We too will serve the Lord.
car il est notre Dieu.
for He is our God.
Joshua said to the people, you will not have the strength.
to serve the Eternal, for He is a holy God.
C'est un Dieu jaloux. Il ne pardonnera
He is a jealous God. He will not forgive.
point vos transgressions et vos péchés.
point out your transgressions and your sins.
Et après, tu peux même finir
And then, you can even finish.
au verset 20, s'il te plaît.
to verse 20, please.
When you forsake the Lord and you
servirez des dieux étrangers, il reviendra
you will serve foreign gods, he will return
to harm you, and it will consume you
après vous avoir fait du bien.
after having done you good.
In fact, it's very very strong what
Dieu dit
God says
through the mouth of Joshua, because it feels like we have
toute l'histoire du peuple de Dieu,
the whole history of the people of God,
whether in the old covenant or in the new covenant,
c'est-à-dire le peuple
that is to say the people
et même l'Église,
and even the Church,
It is that, in fact, Joshua said to the people.
première chose
first thing
qu'il dit, c'est que, choisissez.
What he says is, choose.
Voilà ce que Dieu a fait.
This is what God has done.
Donc, voilà qui vous êtes. Voilà ce que Dieu a fait.
So, here is who you are. Here is what God has done.
Voilà votre histoire. Mais maintenant, vous devez
Here is your story. But now, you must
choisir vous. Est-ce que vous voulez
choose you. Do you want
suivre Dieu ou est-ce que vous voulez
follow God or wherever you want
suivre les autres nations ? Mais choisissez.
Follow other nations? But choose.
Un peu ce qu'on a dit
A little of what we said.
ce dimanche-là, en fait,
that Sunday, in fact,
ni pas tiède, mais soit froid,
neither tepid, but rather cold,
soit bouillant. Donc, choisissez. Et le peuple
be boiling. So, choose. And the people
dit, oui, nous voulons choisir Dieu. Nous voulons
Say, yes, we want to choose God. We want.
en servir. Et
to serve. And
Josué lui répond,
Joshua replies to him,
You will not be able to serve God.
Et en fait, il explique pourquoi.
And in fact, he explains why.
Il dit, parce que c'est un Dieu
He says, because he is a God.
qui est saint, et donc
who is saint, and therefore
face à notre péché,
in the face of our sin,
Dieu est sans péché,
God is without sin,
et c'est un Dieu jaloux, c'est-à-dire que
and he is a jealous God, that is to say that
Dieu est exclusif. Dieu
God is exclusive. God
ne permet pas qu'on le serve
does not allow to be served
lui avec un autre.
him with another.
Dieu
God
n'apprécie pas
does not appreciate
qu'on aime
that we love
Dieu et qu'on mette au même
God and that we put on the same
niveau que Dieu autre chose. Et
level that God something else. And
le cœur de l'homme, et mon cœur,
the heart of man, and my heart,
il est double, et il est idolâtre.
He is double-minded, and he is an idolater.
Et c'est vraiment un des thèmes
And it really is one of the themes.
qui va suivre tout
who will follow everything
the following book, that is to say, the book of Judges.
Dieu est saint,
God is holy,
l'homme est pécheur. Dieu est
man is a sinner. God is
jaloux, et nous sommes idolâtres et doubles.
jealous, and we are idolaters and two-faced.
Et on va
And we are going
vraiment voir ce thème, c'est horrible,
truly seeing this theme, it's horrible,
parce qu'après Josué,
because after Joshua,
la période de Josué,
the period of Joshua,
finally, we come to the period of the judges. And so, it is the
livre d'après. Et cette période des juges va durer
book of judges. And this period of the judges will last.
des centaines d'années aussi.
hundreds of years as well.
On va dire qu'ils sont arrivés
Let's say that they have arrived.
en Égypte, le peuple, vers moins 1800,
in Egypt, the people, around 1800 BC,
que Moïse, c'est
that Moses, it is
moins 1400, et que là, on est
less than 1400, and that there, we are
à peu près vers moins 1100, quoi.
About around minus 1100, you know.
Ou
Or
après la période des juges. Donc, en fait, il doit
after the period of the judges. So, in fact, he must
There will be almost 300 or 400 years that will pass.
aussi, des générations après générations.
also, generations after generations.
Et on arrive sur cette période des
And we are entering this period of the
juges, qui est très intéressante,
judges, which is very interesting,
et qui va mettre vraiment le contexte
and who will really set the context
d'un Samuel.
of a Samuel.
Parce que le 1 Samuel, en fait,
Because 1 Samuel, in fact,
commence
begin
à la période des juges.
during the period of the judges.
And then, she will go up to the period.
de la royauté. Et donc,
of royalty. And therefore,
pour comprendre le contexte de
to understand the context of
1 Samuel, it is necessary to first understand what is
happened in the book of Judges,
et d'où vient le peuple.
and where the people come from.
Et du coup,
And so,
Josué, et puis avant.
Joshua, and then before.
Et alors, le livre des juges,
And so, the book of judges,
eh bien, il commence comme ça.
Well, it starts like this.
Il dit, après
He says, after
la mort de Josué, les Israélites consultent
the death of Joshua, the Israelites consult
terre l'éternel. Alors, on voit que
earth the eternal. So, we see that
Josué, qui était le deuxième conducteur
Joshua, who was the second driver.
après Moïse, conducteur
after Moses, leader
de Dieu, eh bien,
of God, well,
finalement, a guidé le peuple.
finally, guided the people.
And the people have been guided all their lives.
And we really see the people of God who remain.
in a little the mandate of God, which is
a people awakened, which is a people that
fight the fights of the eternal, who is truly the people
of God, and who does what the Lord asks of him.
Et après, on voit que
And then, we see that
le peuple, finalement,
the people, ultimately,
eh bien, va essayer de continuer
well, go try to continue
ce que Dieu lui demande.
what God asks of him.
Mais sans
But without
conducteur. Et là,
driver. And there,
As a result, the people are left to themselves.
C'est-à-dire que
That is to say that
chaque tribu a ses anciens.
Each tribe has its elders.
Mais il n'y a
But there is not
pas de conducteur pour fédérer
no driver to unite
everyone. But above all, it's not federated in a way
politique. C'est-à-dire pour conduire
politics. That is to say to lead
le peuple de la part de Dieu. Et alors, on voit
the people from the part of God. And then, we see
ceci,
this,
qu'on a deux tribus.
that we have two tribes.
Donc, on a, par exemple, verset 3,
So, we have, for example, verse 3,
Siméon et Judas, qui vont
Simeon and Judas, who are going
continuer la conquête. Monte avec moi,
continue the conquest. Climb with me,
in the country assigned to me by drawing lots,
et nous combattrons les Cananéens.
and we will fight the Canaanites.
Because it means that the conquest was not finished.
There were still peoples that needed to be expelled,
et qui étaient des peuples
and who were peoples
qui avaient
who had
sur lesquels
on which
Dieu avait prononcé un jugement.
God had pronounced a judgment.
And the people, it was a bit like the hand.
de Dieu à ce moment-là. C'est-à-dire, il devait
from God at that moment. That is to say, he had to
appliquer ce jugement et les exterminer
apply this judgment and exterminate them
ou les chasser. Et ce jugement
or chase them away. And this judgment
has been given since the time of Abraham.
Dieu avait dit, le péché des
God had said, the sin of
Canaanites are not yet at their peak.
Et quand il sera à leur comble,
And when it will be at its peak,
en fait, je les chasserai. On sait que ce sont
In fact, I will hunt them down. We know that they are
des nations
nations
qui avaient des mœurs
who had morals
avec des côtés horribles, notamment
with horrible sides, notably
l'idolâtrie, et ils bénissaient
idolatry, and they blessed
leur maison en sacrifiant
their house by sacrificing
leur premier bébé. Ils sacrifiaient
their first baby. They sacrificed
their first child, they put him in a jar,
ils le mettaient sous terre. Et en fait, on sait reconnaître
they buried him. And in fact, we know how to recognize
une maison israélite d'une maison cananéenne
an Israelite house from a Canaanite house
dans la Palestine de cette époque-là
in Palestine at that time
quand on creuse le sol. Quand on retrouve
when we dig the ground. When we find
une jarre avec un squelette,
a jar with a skeleton,
We know that it was a Canaanite house.
Et Dieu a dit à Abraham,
And God said to Abraham,
quasiment, donc là on est en moins
almost, so we are at a loss here
1400, donc 500 ans avant,
1400, therefore 500 years earlier,
il dit à Abraham,
he said to Abraham,
I am not going to judge that land just yet.
because sin has not yet reached its full measure.
Donc Dieu a attendu 500 ans
So God waited 500 years.
de développement de péché,
of the development of sin,
de peuples qui étaient idolâtres
of peoples who were idolaters
et qui faisaient des pratiques abominables.
and who committed abominable practices.
500 ans, et là, du coup,
500 years, and then, all of a sudden,
il fallait continuer l'œuvre
It was necessary to continue the work.
of Joshua, who was the work of God,
et de continuer ce
and to continue this
jugement, en fait, du pays,
judgment, in fact, of the country,
et du coup, exterminer et
and so, exterminating and
chasser des peuples. Et on voit que deux
hunting peoples. And we see that two
tribus vont
tribes go
continuer.
continue.
Mais, on voit
But, we see
au verset 21, notamment,
in verse 21, in particular,
les benjaminites ne chassèrent pas
the Benjaminites did not hunt
les jébusiens qui habitaient à Jérusalem.
the Jebusites who lived in Jerusalem.
Verset 22, la famille de Joseph
Verse 22, the family of Joseph
monta aussi contre Béthel,
he also went up against Bethel,
the Lord was with them, and it is seen that
ils vont, eux, par contre,
they go, however,
continuer une partie du travail.
continue a part of the work.
Verset 27, Manassé ne chassa pas
Verse 27, Manasseh did not drive out.
les habitants de Beth-Séané,
the inhabitants of Beth-Shean
verset 29,
verse 29
Ephraim ne chassa pas les cananéens,
Ephraim did not drive out the Canaanites.
Zabulon ne chassa pas
Zabulon did not hunt.
les habitants de Kitron,
the inhabitants of Kitron,
Nisio de Kaalol,
Nisio of Kaalol,
Azer did not drive out the inhabitants of Akko,
Neftali ne chassa pas les habitants
Neftali did not drive out the inhabitants.
de Beth-Shemesh,
from Beth-Shemesh,
et, verset 34,
and, verse 34,
les Amoriens repoussèrent les
the Amorites repelled the
Danites in the mountain. So, we don't know if the Danites have
tried to fight them, in any case, they are even
repoussés. Et on voit, du coup,
pushed back. And we see, as a result,
finalement,
finally,
dès
from
la mort de Josué,
the death of Joshua,
eh bien, on voit que
well, we can see that
une partie du peuple essaie de,
a part of the people is trying to,
finally, to rely on what God had
say, the word of God, and to continue
cette direction que Dieu avait
this direction that God had
montrée, et la grande majorité
shown, and the great majority
du peuple, finalement, s'arrête.
of the people, finally, stops.
Et ça, ça
And that, that
pose le contexte des juges
sets the context of the judges
qui pose le contexte, après, de
which sets the context, after, of
un Samuel, c'est-à-dire,
a Samuel, that is to say,
finalement, que le peuple
finally, that the people
arrête d'appliquer
stop applying
la parole de Dieu,
the word of God,
et de faire ce que Dieu
and to do what God
lui a commandé
ordered him/her
de faire.
to do.
Et alors, on arrive
And so, we arrive.
sur cette période très particulière,
during this very special period,
où le peuple est livré à lui-même. Il aurait pu
where the people are left to themselves. He could have
continuer, et en fait, il n'y a plus de
to continue, and in fact, there is no more of
conducteur du peuple. Et il n'y a plus de
leader of the people. And there is no more
driver, and we are going to see a very surprising cycle
in the book of judges, very very astonishing.
Ce cycle-là,
That cycle,
c'est que le peuple,
it's that the people,
And according to the words, by the way, that one
a déjà lues,
has already read,
de la part même de Josué,
on behalf of Josué himself,
c'est-à-dire que le peuple
that is to say the people
va abandonner l'Éternel, quand Josué lui dit
"Will abandon the Lord, when Joshua told him."
« Est-ce que vous êtes vraiment sûr de vouloir servir
"Are you really sure you want to serve?"
le Seigneur ? » Parce que vous allez l'abandonner,
The Lord? "Because you are going to abandon him,
and so, instead of doing you good, it will do you
du mal, en fait. C'est-à-dire, vous allez
of harm, in fact. That is to say, you are going to
to have a judgment on you, instead of having a blessing.
Et,
And,
Ultimately, this is what we will see in a cyclical manner.
Le peuple va abandonner
The people will abandon.
l'Éternel, il va adopter
The Eternal, he is going to adopt.
les coutumes des peuples qui sont païens,
the customs of pagan peoples,
et il va commencer à devenir
and he is going to start to become
idolâtre. Donc,
idolater. So,
abandonner complètement le Seigneur.
abandon completely the Lord.
Le Seigneur va
The Lord is coming.
susciter des ennemis contre le peuple
to incite enemies against the people
qui vont l'opprimer. Le peuple
who will oppress him. The people
va être dans une situation tellement horrible
is going to be in such a horrible situation
qu'il va se repentir, qu'il va crier à Dieu,
that he will repent, that he will cry out to God,
et Dieu va susciter un conducteur.
And God will raise up a leader.
Un nouveau conducteur,
A new driver,
but here, it is not the driver
who had been foreseen by God, it is a leader
que Dieu va
that God will
nommer en regardant dans son peuple
naming while looking at his people
qui va pouvoir délivrer son peuple.
who will be able to deliver his people.
So, at the beginning, we have good drivers, that's what we call judges.
On a, notamment,
We have, in particular,
donc,
so,
le premier, c'est
the first one is
Otniel. Après, on a Ehud, après, on a Déborah.
Othniel. Then we have Ehud, then we have Deborah.
They are rather good judges, but it’s
toujours des périodes particulières.
always special periods.
And every time a judge, in fact,
est utilisé pour mener l'armée
is used to lead the army
et pour délivrer le peuple,
and to deliver the people,
the people, during the generation of that person,
va se remettre à servir
will start serving again
le Seigneur. Dès que cette personne meurt,
the Lord. As soon as this person dies,
elle abandonne à nouveau le Seigneur. Et c'est
she abandons the Lord again. And it is
super fast, in fact. It's really from one generation to another.
C'est extrêmement rapide, c'est dingue.
It's extremely fast, it's crazy.
C'est-à-dire qu'il n'y a aucune mémoire
That is to say, there is no memory.
d'une génération à l'autre.
from one generation to another.
Donc, pour le peuple,
So, for the people,
Otniel, c'est pareil.
Otniel, it's the same.
Après, Ehud, ce sera encore pareil.
After, Ehud, it will be the same again.
Et puis Déborah, ce sera encore pareil. Donc, on est dans un cycle
And then Déborah, it will be the same again. So, we are in a cycle.
infernal qui est constant.
infernal that is constant.
C'est que Dieu délivre son peuple.
It is that God delivers his people.
Pendant
During
quelques années, le peuple, remercie le Seigneur,
a few years, the people, thank the Lord,
le sert. Il
serves it. He
s'éloigne du Seigneur,
draws away from the Lord,
either because he is in comfort, or because
qu'il n'y a plus de conflit,
that there is no longer any conflict,
So he no longer needs the Lord. And then, he...
thus brings back to distancing from God,
à devenir idolâtre. Il est à nouveau
to become idolatrous. He is again
opprimé. Il se repent,
oppressed. He repents,
et du coup, il recrit au Seigneur,
and so, he writes again to the Lord,
et le Seigneur encore suscite un conducteur.
And the Lord still raises up a leader.
And that's what it is, throughout the whole book of Judges.
But what we see, what is very surprising,
it's that we have the impression that God
va avoir face à lui, de moins
is going to have in front of him, at least
en moins, de personnes fiables
fewer reliable people
pour servir son peuple. Au début,
to serve his people. At the beginning,
on a trois juges qui sont bons. Après, on passe
We have three judges who are good. After that, we move on.
à Gédéon, qui est
to Gideon, who is
pour nous une référence,
for us a reference,
mais finalement, qui, après
but ultimately, who, after
sa libération, va créer une idole,
its liberation will create an idol,
with the money and gold that he will give him
le peuple. Après, on a Jephthé,
the people. After that, we have Jephthah,
qui va sacrifier sa propre fille,
who will sacrifice his own daughter,
comme s'il pensait que Dieu
as if he thought that God
loved human sacrifices, whereas it was
That's why God wanted to drive out the Canadians.
So, in fact, we see a people who
knows less and less about his God, in fact.
Même ceux qui servent Dieu ne
Even those who serve God do not
do not know God, and less and less.
Et on va voir le pire,
And we're going to see the worst,
Samson. Alors, lui, il va
Samson. So, he's going to
servir à rien. Il va faire ce qui lui
serve no purpose. He will do what he
plaît toute sa vie. Il va avoir des dons extraordinaires,
pleases him all his life. He will have extraordinary gifts,
et il va être incompétent,
and he is going to be incompetent,
et ne produire
and not produce
aucun fruit dans toute sa vie.
no fruit in his entire life.
A driver who will not lead the people,
qui ne va pas libérer le peuple. Et on voit que
who will not free the people. And we see that
en fait, dans cette succession
in fact, in this succession
de ces cycles, qu'on n'est plus
of these cycles, which we are no longer
dans les conducteurs comme Moïse ou Josué,
in leaders like Moses or Joshua,

God no longer raises up judges. After Samson,

Read this in Judges 17, verse 6.
En ce temps-là,
At that time,
il n'y avait pas de roi en Israël,
there was no king in Israel,
chacun faisait
everyone was doing
ce qui lui semblait bon.
what seemed good to him.
Chacun faisait
Everyone was doing.
ce qui lui semblait bon. Et cette parole est répétée
what seemed good to him. And this word is repeated
tout à la fin des juges, qui
at the very end of the judges, who

de 1 Samuel. C'est le

dernier verset des juges.
last verse of the judges.
Juge 21, verset 25.
Judges 21, verse 25.
À cette époque-là,
At that time,
There was no king in Israel, everyone
faisait ce qui lui semblait
did what seemed right to him
bon.
good.
Et alors, ces deux
So then, these two.
versets nous posent
verses pose questions to us
en fait les deux thèmes
in fact the two themes
de 1 Samuel, c'est-à-dire
from 1 Samuel, that is to say
le thème du roi,
the theme of the king,
The monarchy, does the people need it?
d'un roi ou pas, est-ce que ça vient de Dieu ou pas,
of a king or not, does it come from God or not,
et aussi le thème
and also the theme
du conducteur. Parce que,
of the driver. Because,
Moses was not a king, Joshua was not.
un roi, mais quand ils étaient là,
a king, but when they were there,
le peuple était conduit.
the people were being led.
Quand il n'était plus là,
When he was no longer there,
le peuple, finalement,
the people, finally,
a glissé dans une situation
slipped into a situation
even which eventually became a situation
de chaos. À la fin, c'est horrible,
of chaos. In the end, it's horrible,
il va y avoir des actes abominables,
there will be abominable acts,
viols collectifs, des trucs vraiment absolument
gang rapes, really absolutely things
horribles, ce qui fait que le peuple,
horrible, which means that the people,
quand il va voir ça, il va
when he sees that, he will
s'attaquer à une tribu
to attack a tribe
de son propre peuple. En clair,
of his own people. In short,
l'oppression venait de l'extérieur,
the oppression came from the outside,
quand le peuple
when the people
gets away from him, until a certain point
where the oppression comes even from within. It is even from within.
que vient le mal. Et donc, le peuple est obligé
where evil comes from. And so, the people are obliged
to judge, but in fact, he destroys himself.
Le peuple se détruit lui-même et
The people destroy themselves and
il détruit, il extermine
he destroys, he exterminates
toute une tribu, la tribu de Benjamin,
a whole tribe, the tribe of Benjamin,
this same tribe of Benjamin that has been mentioned
who had not chased away his enemies at the very beginning
et qui devait les chasser
and who was supposed to chase them away
normally, and to such an extent that there is only left
une poignée d'hommes, quelques centaines d'hommes
a handful of men, a few hundred men

Sinon,

une douze tribus, mais juste onze tribus.
twelve tribes, but only eleven tribes.
And so, we are in a situation that is a situation.
de guerre civile, complètement chaotique
of civil war, completely chaotic
and that shows us a period of several
hundreds of years, finally, where the people have been left

to himself. And

une réalité spirituelle du cœur.
a spiritual reality of the heart.
Comme une incapacité
Like an inability
qui n'est pas liée
which is not related
au contexte. On pourrait dire
to the context. One could say
« Ouais, mais autant de... Othniel, c'était dur,
"Yeah, but as much as... Othniel, it was tough,"
"That's normal, but so much of... " But in fact, we see that the cycle
est constant et que ça montre finalement
is constant and that it ultimately shows
une réalité que Josué
a reality that Joshua
avait annoncé d'avance.
had announced in advance.
You are not capable of serving God.
Vous n'êtes pas capable.
You are not capable.
And it's as if God shows it in a definitive way.
We no longer want to go through three again.
siècles comme les juges, parce
centuries like the judges, because
that it is a very long time.
It's not just one generation, it's dozens of them.
Et on voit à quel point
And we see how much
la sentence
the sentence
est là. L'homme n'arrive
is here. The man is not arriving.
pas à servir Dieu. C'est vraiment horrible.
not to serve God. It's really horrible.
Et
And
on termine sur une guerre civile.
We end with a civil war.
Et alors,
And so,
on passe maintenant
we're moving on now
finalement à 1 Samuel.
finally to 1 Samuel.
Ruth, c'est une parenthèse. Ruth,
Ruth, it's a parenthesis. Ruth,
c'est pendant les juges, mais
it's during the judges, but
c'est pas la fin
it's not the end
des juges, c'est pendant les juges. Donc on saute
judges, it's during the judges. So we jump
Ruth qui est une histoire
Ruth who is a story
qui se situe aussi pendant cette période-là.
which also takes place during that period.
And in fact, in the book of 1 Samuel,
ce qui est assez joli,
which is quite pretty,
I will read to you a little bit.
je vais vous retrouver
I will find you.
les textes qui parlent de
the texts that talk about
Josué. Josué,
Joshua. Joshua,
nombre, verset,
number, verse
nombre, chapitre 13,
Numbers, chapter 13
on se souvient que
we remember that
Moïse a envoyé des espions sur la

se passer. Un espion par

le pays d'Israël avant le pays
the country of Israel before the country
de Cana, avant de le conquérir. Et, parmi
of Cana, before conquering it. And, among
the 12 spies, there were Caleb and Joshua,
the two who will remain faithful to the Lord.
Et on lit ceci, c'est que
And we read this, it is that
Josué, au verset,
Joshua, in the verse,
8, il était de la tribu d'Ephraim.
8, he was from the tribe of Ephraim.
On voit, à la fin
We see, in the end
de Josué, que
of Joshua, that
cet homme-là, du coup, il va avoir
that man, as a result, he is going to have
un héritage de sa tribu.
a legacy from his tribe.
And the legacy of his tribe was
dans les montagnes d'Ephraim.
in the mountains of Ephraim.
We see it in the last verse, we see it.
euh...
uh...
Alors...
So...
Après ces événements,
After these events,
donc, 24, verset
so, 24, verse
19 de Josué, Josué,
19 of Joshua, Joshua,
fils de Nain, serviteur de l'Éternel, mourut. Il était âgé
son of a Dwarf, servant of the Eternal, died. He was aged.
de 110 ans. On l'ensevelit dans le territoire
of 110 years. They buried it in the territory.
dont il avait hérité, à Timnath-Sérac,
which he had inherited, in Timnath-Serah,
dans la région montagneuse d'Ephraim,
in the mountainous region of Ephraim,
au nord de Gâche.
to the north of Gâche.
Et donc, on finit, finalement,
And so, we finally finish,
cette période de conducteur dans la région
this period of driving in the region
montagneuse d'Ephraim. Et après, on a
mountainous region of Ephraim. And then, we have
ces 300 ans de
these 300 years of
disappointment, until reaching a situation of
chaos, qui est le livre des juges.
chaos, which is the book of judges.
Eh bien, on lit le premier verset,
Well, we read the first verse,
du coup, de 1 Samuel.
So, from 1 Samuel.
Et si quelqu'un l'a...
And if someone has it...
Vous l'avez... C'est Aster, vas-y, Aster,
You have it... It's Aster, go ahead, Aster.
tu peux lire le premier verset.
You can read the first verse.
1 Samuel ? Ouais, 1 Samuel, 1-1.
1 Samuel? Yeah, 1 Samuel, 1-1.
Il y avait un homme de Ramataïm,
There was a man from Ramataïm,
Tzophim,
Tzophim,
de la région montagneuse d'Ephraim,
from the mountainous region of Ephraim,
nommé Elkanah, fils de Yéroba,
named Elkanah, son of Jeroboam,
fils d'Eliouf,
son of Eliouf,
fils de Touh,
son of Touh,
fils de Tzouf, Ephratite,
son of Tzouf, Ephratite,
qui avait deux femmes. Voilà. Et en fait,
who had two wives. There you go. And in fact,
It's as if there were a parenthesis.
de 300 ans, et on repart
300 years, and we're off again.
de la région montagneuse d'Ephraim. Et de
from the mountainous region of Ephraim. And from
this mountainous region, which is really very very beautiful,
c'est que finalement, Dieu,
it's that ultimately, God,
comme il sait... comme il n'y a que lui
as he knows... as there is only him
qui sait le faire, il va
who knows how to do it, he will
se susciter un nouveau conducteur.
to create a new driver for oneself.
Plus un juge
No longer a judge
dans la période des juges,
during the period of the judges,
even if he is considered a judge, he is a judge, but
qui finalement
who finally
était une solution
was a solution
de sauvetage urgent
urgent rescue
dans une situation urgente,
in an urgent situation,
because the people were in a horrible state,
mais c'est lui-même
but it is himself
qu'il va susciter, prévoir,
that he will provoke, anticipate,
préparer la venue,
prepare the arrival,
d'un nouveau conducteur.
of a new driver.
Et ce nouveau conducteur s'appellera
And this new driver will be called
Samuel. Et le ministère
Samuel. And the ministry.
de Samuel va ressembler au ministère
Samuel's will look like the ministry.
of Joshua and will resemble the ministry of Moses.
Et on repart dans ce livre-là
And we go back to that book.
sur une situation
about a situation
où le peuple va enfin
where the people go at last
à nouveau avoir
have again
un conducteur, un bon conducteur
a driver, a good driver
who will lead the people for all his life
and by whom will the people be blessed
and by whom he will have the word of the Lord.
Et c'est vraiment
And it's really
le contexte de Samuel,
the context of Samuel,
et c'est la base
and that's the basis
vraiment de ce rouleau
really from this roll
qui va finalement
who will finally
continuer sur après
continue on after
la période
the period
des rois, parce que
of kings, because
à la fin de Samuel, de la vie de Samuel,
at the end of Samuel, of the life of Samuel,
eh bien, Dieu va demander
Well, God will ask.
à Samuel de
to Samuel of
nommer des rois. Et là, on va passer sur
to appoint kings. And there, we will move on to
d'autres leaders, d'autres conducteurs, d'autres responsables
other leaders, other drivers, other managers
qui vont avoir des responsabilités
who will have responsibilities
absolument spirituelles,
absolutely spiritual,
mais avec
but with
ce côté de royauté
this royal side
qui n'existait pas avant.
that did not exist before.
Et je vais du coup finir
And I’m going to finish, then.
simplement
simply
ce thème, ce deuxième thème,
this theme, this second theme,
on a parlé du thème du conducteur du peuple,
we talked about the theme of the people's leader,
on voit vraiment ce thème du conducteur
We really see this theme of the driver.
And we will also see the theme of royalty.
Puisque
Since
après le ministère de Samuel,
after the ministry of Samuel,
quand Samuel va devenir vieux,
when Samuel grows old,
ses fils n'avaient pas
his sons did not have
so all the same mold as Samuel,
and besides, it was a little bit,
des vauriens,
good-for-nothings,
that is to say he was doing things too
qui n'étaient pas bonnes.
which were not good.
Et du coup, le peuple va demander
And as a result, the people will ask.
un roi, et Dieu
a king, and God
va accepter cette demande.
Go accept this request.
C'est très étonnant. Et alors que
It's very surprising. And while
Samuel va être très triste,
Samuel is going to be very sad,
et on va se dire, mais ce n'est pas
and we will say to ourselves, but it's not
a good thing to have a king, because you need the eternal,
c'est Dieu votre roi.
God is your king.
Yes, and we can see that this situation is repeating itself.
pas mal dans la Bible, plusieurs fois,
not bad in the Bible, several times,
c'est que c'est
it is what it is
d'une situation anormale, finalement,
from an abnormal situation, finally,
que Dieu va se servir
that God will serve
pour la faire amener
to have her brought
au dessein que lui a décidé depuis
for the purpose that has been decided for him since then
le début de Genèse,
the beginning of Genesis,
c'est-à-dire de susciter un jour
that is to say to spark a day
un roi. Et un jour un roi
a king. And one day a king
dont le règne ne s'arrêtera pas.
whose reign will not stop.
And this king whose reign will not stop,
We know that he is the Messiah, we know that he is Jesus Christ.
Et s'il n'y avait pas eu de roi André,
And if there had been no King Andrew,
eh bien Jésus n'aurait pas été
well Jesus would not have been
Considered as a king, he would have been regarded as a judge.
Ou comme simplement un conducteur.
Or simply as a driver.
And in fact, we see that in an almost situation
abnormal, God uses that, it's like
If God masters everything, the sovereigns, and that He goes
montrer à quel point
show how much
the people will need more than one
conducteur, plus que des
driver, more than just some
prêtres, mais du roi,
priests, but of the king,
prêtre, prophète, le seul qui va exister,
priest, prophet, the only one who will exist,
ça va être du coup Jésus.
It's going to be Jesus, then.
Ça va être Jésus, le Seigneur.
It will be Jesus, the Lord.
Donc voilà un petit
So here is a little one.
peu pour ce contexte.
little for this context.
Après,
After,
on va juste partager tranquillement,
we're just going to share quietly,
et puis
and then
on reparlera
We'll talk about it again.
of this theme of royalty which is very interesting.
Surtout quand on regarde
Especially when we look at
le
the
le profil de Moïse
the profile of Moses
après.
after.
Je sais pas, est-ce que ça
I don't know, does it?
vous fait susciter des questions,
it raises questions for you,
Where there are things that matter to you?
Des choses que vous avez apprises,
Things that you have learned,
vous dites tiens, je savais pas...
you say, well, I didn't know...
C'est intéressant déjà
That's interesting already.
comment tu s'es amené par rapport à...
how did you come to regarding...
Je savais pas que
I didn't know that.
Samuel c'était au milieu du rouleau
Samuel was in the middle of the roll.
et du coup ça en déclenche...
and so it triggers...
Indeed, there was the period of the judges,
voilà, que c'était...
there it was...
So Samuel, it's not in the middle of the roll,
the roll is a Samuel of Samuel.
Oui, oui.
Yes, yes.
Mais c'était en fait, c'était
But it was actually, it was
une lignée qui permettait justement
a lineage that allowed precisely
la façon d'avoir ramené
the way of having brought back
depuis Moïse, Josué,
since Moses, Joshua,
les juges, et on voit
the judges, and we see
comment le Seigneur il a suscité Samuel
how the Lord raised Samuel
qui est totalement, presque,
who is totally, almost,
It seems that he has a special anointing.
clairement, parce que
clearly, because
d'où Anne elle a... Mais après, c'est vrai que là,
where Anne she has... But afterwards, it's true that there,
in relation to what you talked about,
lorsque le peuple d'Israël
when the people of Israel
il réclame un roi. Oui.
He demands a king. Yes.
Because, in fact, it is in comparison.
par rapport aux autres nations. Exactement.
in relation to other nations. Exactly.
Et donc il y a une sorte de... Vu qu'il y a la terre,
And so there is a kind of... Since there is the earth,
après ils veulent peut-être un pouvoir politique,
afterwards they may want political power,
I don't know, or at least exist in a way...
C'est un des côtés, peut-être.
It's one of the sides, perhaps.
Et à partir de là, est-ce qu'on peut
And from there, can we
se dire que, du coup,
to tell oneself that, as a result,
Saül, il était pas... Alors au début
Saul, he wasn't... So at the beginning
il devait avoir... C'était un enfant de la promesse,
he must have... He was a child of the promise,
quelque part, il devait avoir cette promesse,
somewhere, he must have had that promise,
il devait être béni, déclenché,
he had to be blessed, triggered,
techniquement, voilà. Il l'a été, hein.
Technically, there you go. It has been, right?
Ouais, ouais. Mais après, il a...
Yeah, yeah. But then, he...
Un peu comme Josué, je pense,
A bit like Joshua, I think,
c'est-à-dire que Josué, il a dit
that is to say, Joshua, he said
you will succeed in what you do, in everything you do,
je serai avec toi. Par contre,
I will be with you. However,
n'abandonne pas ma loi. Et on voit que Samuel,
do not abandon my law. And we see that Samuel,
he will be blessed, as he will have victories at the beginning,
mais il va abandonner. Mais du coup,
but he is going to give up. But as a result,
t'as une question derrière, je pense. Oui, mais c'était
you have a question behind that, I think. Yes, but it was
par rapport à... Au fait des rois, c'est ça ?
in relation to... About the kings, is that it?
Finally, how to say, is it good,
est-ce que c'est pas bon, c'est ça ? Oui, voilà, c'est ça.
Isn't it not good, is that it? Yes, that's it.
And that's really the point, and so we can take.
Deutéronome 17.
Deuteronomy 17.
That's very interesting, the kings, because
cette royauté...
this royalty...
This change of lineage, in fact, that's it.
C'est presque...
It's almost...
On passe d'une lignée... Tu dis ?
We're moving from a lineage... What did you say?
Ouais.
From a driver to a king. Yeah.
Well actually, yeah, from a driver to a driver king.
Parce que le roi
Because the king
est censé être conducteur, hein. Le roi est censé
is supposed to be a driver, right? The king is supposed to
vraiment conduire son peuple. Mais du coup, d'un conducteur
truly lead his people. But as a result, of a driver
à un roi, oui, c'est ça. Avec des
to a king, yes, that's it. With some
prérogatives que n'avait pas le conducteur.
prerogatives that the driver did not have.
Exactement. Une autorité qu'il n'avait pas.
Exactly. An authority that he did not have.
The army, before, it was the army of the Eternal.
It wasn't Moses' army, you know. It has never been Moses' army.
Après, c'est l'armée du roi. C'est ça.
After, it's the king's army. That's it.
Et puis même, il le tue, Samuel,
And then he kills him, Samuel.
at one point, he tells the people,
but be careful, he will take your daughters, he will take your
jeunes hommes, vous allez
young men, you are going
payer un impôt...
pay a tax...
En fait, c'est une
In fact, it's a
protection, oui et non, parce que...
Protection, yes and no, because...
Well, it's a protection with trade-offs.
négatives, mais
negative, but
That's a bit how all nations were formed.
du monde et dans lesquelles nous sommes.
of the world and in which we are.
There is the political system, whether democracy or not.
there is a chief government in which...
Yes, but actually, I think the idea of God was also to have
un peuple spécial, justement,
a special people, indeed,
the fact that in fact, he is capable
to not function like the others because he has God.
Mais par contre,
But on the other hand,
Afterwards, it still shows that man needs.
d'un conducteur, quel que soit...
of a driver, no matter...
Not christian or not christian, you don't need anything.
because he is left to himself, to the people.
But what is beautiful is that ultimately,
après, dans la période des rois,
after, during the period of the kings,
qui, finalement, va être encore un échec,
which, ultimately, is going to be another failure,
mais il y a eu
but there has been
very good kings. So, when there are going to be very good kings,
finalement, ça va quand même marcher. Mais il va y avoir
finally, it's still going to work. But there will be
more and more wicked kings. There is a whole section of the people,
très rapidement, après deux générations,
very quickly, after two generations,
qui va partir en idolâtrie, etc.,
who will go into idolatry, etc.,
dans les dix tribus,
in the ten tribes,
the Loyalists of the North, as they call them, in Israel.
And there is the little kingdom of Judah with two tribes.
who will survive, survive, and it will also be a failure.
And after, what is very beautiful is that
Jésus vient. C'est lui, finalement,
Jesus is coming. It's him, finally.
le roi de la Lignée.
the king of the Lineage.
It is he, ultimately, the leader of the League of Moses,
aussi, puisque dans Moïse,
also, since in Moses,
Dieu va dire, il n'a jamais paru
God will say, he never appeared.
un autre prophète comme toi.
another prophet like you.
Je susciterai un prophète comme toi.
I will raise up a prophet like you.
En fait, c'est qu'il n'y aura jamais
In fact, it's that there will never be.
d'autres prophètes comme Moïse,
other prophets like Moses,
But one day, God will raise someone greater than Moses.
And so, that's really, that's to say,
ce sera Jésus, en fait. Donc, si Moïse est un prophète,
it will be Jesus, in fact. So, if Moses is a prophet,
ce sera un prophète.
it will be a prophet.
Samuel, c'était un...
Samuel, it was a...
And in fact, they didn't really understand.
dès le principe le peuple d'Israël,
from the very beginning the people of Israel,
because they were also perhaps waiting for Jesus,
que ce soit un roi politique,
whether it be a political king,
vs, justement, les Romains, quoi.
Yes, exactly, the Romans, you know.
Et un homme de...
And a man of...
un homme de main, quelque part,
a henchman, somewhere,
or I don't know who was going to deliver them,
truly, there, the Lord, it was Jesus,
it was really, it's in the spiritual domain,
en fait.
in fact.
Oui, mais aussi, pourquoi ils pensaient ça ?
Yes, but also, why did they think that?
It's because they thought that in a carnal way.
It's like the people, when they aspire.
à avoir un roi, il met Dieu de côté.
Having a king, he puts God aside.
Et donc, en fait, quand
And so, in fact, when
les gens aspirent à avoir un roi,
people aspire to have a king,
thinking it was the part of God, etc.,
in fact, they completely set God aside,
since it was not God's will.
It wasn't with God, but it wasn't what God wanted, anyway.
Pas du tout.
Not at all.
And so, in fact, they also had this side,
finalement, très humain,
finally, very human,
comme au temps, comme à ce temps-là.
as in those days, as in that time.
Comme à ce temps-là.
Like at that time.
Et donc, au chapitre 17, au verset 14,
And so, in chapter 17, verse 14,
c'est très étonnant, hein,
it's very surprising, isn't it,
because here, we are in the Bible of Moses.
Ben, c'est à Lydia.
Well, it's for Lydia.
Lydia, if you are here, you can read verse 14.
When you have entered the land that the Lord,
ton Dieu, te donne, lorsque tu le possèderas,
your God will give you, when you possess it,
que tu auras établi ta demeure,
that you will have established your dwelling,
and you will say, I want to set a king
about me, like all the nations that surround me,
you will put on yourself the king that he will choose
l'Éternel, ton Dieu. Tu prendras un roi
The Lord your God. You shall appoint a king.
du milieu de tes frères. Tu ne pourras pas
from the midst of your brothers. You will not be able to
to give you a stranger who is not your brother.
Vas-y, tu peux continuer.
Go ahead, you can continue.
But that he does not have a large number of horses,
that he does not bring the people back to Egypt
to have many horses, for the Lord
vous a dit, vous ne retournerez plus
told you, you won't go back anymore
par ce chemin-là. Qu'il n'ait pas
by that way. That he does not have
a large number of women, so that his heart
does not turn away, and that he does not do
de grands amas d'argent et d'or.
large heaps of silver and gold.
When he sits on the throne of his kingdom,
il écrira pour lui dans un livre
he will write for him in a book
a copy of this law that he will take
auprès des sacrificateurs, les lévites.
among the priests, the Levites.
Il devra la voir avec lui et
He will have to see it with him and
to read it every day of his life,
so that he learns to fear the Eternal,
son Dieu, à observer et
his God, to observe and
to put into practice all the words of this law
et toutes ses ordonnances, afin
and all its orders, in order
that his heart does not rise above his brothers,
and that he does not turn away from his commandments
ni à droite ni à gauche, afin
neither to the right nor to the left, in order to
that he prolongs his days in his kingdom,
him and his children in the midst of Israel.
Et en fait là...
And in fact there...
En fait c'est dingue parce que
In fact, it's crazy because
prophétiquement Moïse décrit exactement
prophetically Moses describes exactly
tout ce que le peuple va vivre,
everything that the people will experience,
mais c'est là où on voit que Dieu
but that's where we see that God
se sert finalement de la fragilité
ultimately takes advantage of fragility
et l'imperfection de l'homme
and the imperfection of man
pour faire son dessein.
to make his design.
Sa volonté c'est très étonnant.
His will is very astonishing.
C'est que Dieu sait à l'avance
It's that God knows in advance.
qu'il va demander à un roi
that he will ask a king
et Dieu sait à l'avance
and God knows in advance
qu'il va accepter ça.
that he will accept that.
Et du coup qu'il va y avoir une lignée de rois.
And as a result, there will be a lineage of kings.
Par contre il dit ok,
On the other hand, he says okay,
je veux bien de mettre un roi
I would like to have a king.
et ça va rentrer dans ma volonté.
and it will fit into my will.
On the other hand, it will need to be a driving king.
Il faudra que ce soit un roi
It must be a king.
berger en fait.
shepherd in fact.
Qui aura
Who will have
la responsabilité.
responsibility.
Il aura ses prérogatives de roi,
He will have his prerogatives as king,
He will have his army, he will have his palace, etc.
But he must be a leading king.
Ce qui est assez étonnant aussi,
What is also quite surprising,
c'est ce verset-là que j'ai trouvé
It's that verse that I found.
en faisant Deutéronome 33, verset 5.
by doing Deuteronomy 33, verse 5.
On est dans la parole de Moïse.
We are in the words of Moses.
Et du coup,
So,
tu peux
you can
le lire
the read
si tu veux,
if you want,
Esther.
Esther.
Alors, il était roi...
So, he was a king...
Verse 4 like that we have the context, sorry.
Alors, Moïse a institué
So, Moses established
For us the law, possession of the assembly of Jacob.
Il était roi en Ièche, Rounou,
He was king in Ièche, Rounou,
quand les chefs du peuple se réunissaient
when the leaders of the people gathered
avec les tribus d'Israël.
with the tribes of Israel.
And so, in fact, very surprisingly, Moses is described as a king.
Étonnant, hein ?
Astonishing, isn't it?
Hum hum.
Ahem.
En fait là, il raconte, finalement,
In fact, he is telling a story, ultimately,
c'est...
it's...
Et c'est même, en plus,
And it's even, in addition,
voici la bénédiction par laquelle
here is the blessing through which
Moses, the man of God, blessed the Israelites.
avant sa mort. C'est juste que...
before his death. It's just that...
It's like a driver; he has a role.
d'autorité. Il a un rôle, finalement,
of authority. He has a role, ultimately,
où il va donner des directives.
where he will give instructions.
Et donc dans ce sens-là, c'est un roi.
And so in that sense, he is a king.
Mais...
But...
C'est un chef, on pourrait dire. Ou c'est un conducteur.
It's a chef, one could say. Or it's a driver.
Et le mot le plus juste, c'est
And the most accurate word is
conducteur, en fait.
driver, in fact.
Mais finalement, ce roi, Moïse,
But ultimately, this king, Moses,
ce qui est beau, c'est qu'il n'avait pas d'armée.
What is beautiful is that he had no army.
C'est l'armée de Dieu. Il n'avait pas de richesse.
It is the army of God. He had no wealth.
Il n'avait pas de...
He didn't have any...
de gloire. C'est la gloire de Dieu.
of glory. It is the glory of God.
Et en fait, on voit que le roi,
And in fact, we see that the king,
ils vont, finalement,
they are going, finally,
prendre,
to take,
en fait, finalement, quelques caractéristiques,
in fact, ultimately, some characteristics,
quelques attributs de Dieu.
some attributes of God.
All the kings, they are focused on power,
sur la gloire, sur la richesse,
on glory, on wealth,
sur leur plaisir,
on their pleasure,
everything they can do, so their
omnipotence. Et on voit que
omnipotence. And we see that
The figure of a king is somewhat like the figure.
de Dieu, quoi. Ça tend vers la figure de Dieu.
Of God, you know. It tends towards the figure of God.
Les plus grands empires, eh bien,
The greatest empires, well,
les rois étaient tout-puissants,
the kings were all-powerful,
omnipotents, puisqu'ils pouvaient faire ce qu'ils
omnipotent, since they could do what they
voulaient. Ils étaient
they wanted. They were
glorieux. Ils recherchaient la gloire, presque.
glorious. They sought glory, almost.
Et en fait, on voit que ce qui est beau
And in fact, we see that what is beautiful
With Moses, it's that Moses was pointing.
tellement bien sur Dieu, qu'on savait
so sure about God, that we knew
que Dieu, c'était Dieu le roi.
that God, it was God the king.
Mais même au temps de Moïse,
But even in the time of Moses,
the people were afraid of God, and so
finalement, il allait à Moïse.
Finally, he was going to Moses.
Mais en tout cas, il y a ce côté,
But in any case, there is this aspect,
finalement, qui
finally, who
appelle Moïse roi. Alors,
call Moses king. So,
yeshurun, c'est simplement un terme
yeshurun, it's simply a term.
affectif pour parler du peuple d'Israël.
emotional when speaking about the people of Israel.
C'est un peu le...
It's a bit the...
Mais est-ce que
But is it that
le Seigneur, du coup, justement,
the Lord, consequently, precisely,
c'était peut-être... Alors,
It was maybe... So,
justement, il a permis à ce que
precisely, he allowed for what
il y ait des rois, d'après la
there are kings, according to the
demande, justement, de son peuple, parce que
request, precisely, from his people, because
son peuple est béni. Mais
his people are blessed. But
perhaps because it was perhaps to protect him
par rapport à l'orgueil
in relation to pride
when one becomes king, in fact, quite simply.
Because, in fact, there is such a tendency to
le fait de gouverner,
the act of governing,
je pense que
I think that.
ça peut détruire l'âme, et donc...
it can destroy the soul, and therefore...
Et c'est ce qui s'est passé. Voilà.
And that's what happened. There you go.
Et c'est ce qui s'est passé. Et puis même, ce qui est vraiment
And that's what happened. And even so, what is truly
presque percutant
almost striking
et horrible de Théorème 17,
and horrible of Theorem 17,
c'est que tout ce que Moïse
It's that everything that Moses
va citer comme travers,
will point out as a flaw,
on voit que ça va être
we can see that it's going to be
a weakness even for the good ones
rois. N'aie pas beaucoup de
kings. Don't have much of
femmes. David, c'était son péché.
women. David, that was his sin.
David...
David... Yes, but after Solomon, it's to the extreme.
Mais David aussi. David, en fait, ça
But David too. David, in fact, that
is going to be the heart of his sin, there will be many women
et du coup, en fait,
and so, actually,
ça va être horrible, en fait. Et c'est d'ailleurs
It's going to be horrible, in fact. And it's actually...
through the women he will seduce, commit his greatest sin.
Et après, on voit Salomon,
And then we see Solomon,
comme tu dis, à Salomon, il y a tout.
As you say, in Solomon, there is everything.
Il y a la richesse, il y a
There is wealth, there is
le lien avec l'Égypte. Il dit, attention, l'Égypte,
the link with Egypt. He says, beware, Egypt,
attention, parce que
attention, because
if you are too connected to Egypt,
There will really be a spiritual setback.
Le nombre de chevaux. Salomon,
The number of horses. Solomon,
in fact, what David did, which is really nice,
c'est que dès qu'il
it's that as soon as he
...
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from French to English.
allait abattre une armée
was going to defeat an army
ennemie avec une cavalerie,
enemy with cavalry,
il tuait tous les chevaux. Il les tuait.
He killed all the horses. He killed them.
Et en fait, ça correspond. Et en fait,
And actually, it corresponds. And actually,
c'était pour préserver le peuple
it was to preserve the people
and it was, in fact, more of a kind of
grande guérilla sur les
large guerrilla on the
montagnes qu'une armée rangée.
mountains like a lined-up army.
On pense. Et puis ça dépendait des batailles.
We think. And then it depended on the battles.
Et que, finalement,
And that, in the end,
Salomon, qui va vraiment mettre le level
Salomon, who is really going to raise the level.
Even higher up, we found stables.
It is believed that this is Solomon's stables. Solomon was
known for that. And so, he is known for his glory,
for its stables, for its connection with Egypt,
en fait, pour ses femmes. Il avait 1000 femmes.
In fact, for his women. He had 1000 women.
And in fact, we see how much, as you said,
it's as if God wanted to protect him, but the situation
d'avant n'était pas mieux. Parce qu'il a voulu le préserver
From before wasn't better. Because he wanted to preserve it.
et, finalement,
and, finally,
aucune solution que Dieu pourrait apporter
no solution that God could provide
In a fallen world, it's not good, in fact.
Parce que l'homme est
Because man is
foncièrement mauvais. Et l'homme a une
fundamentally bad. And man has a
incapacité profonde
profound incapacity
à ne pas servir Dieu. À être incapable
not to serve God. To be incapable
de servir Dieu. Et c'est ce qu'on le voit dans chaque
to serve God. And this is what we see it in every
période. Dans chaque période.
period. In each period.
Et c'est fort
And it's strong.
et c'est dur. Parce que le livre des Jeux,
and it's hard. Because the book of Games,
c'est un livre extrêmement violent.
It's an extremely violent book.
Que les enfants ne doivent pas lire
That children should not read.
comme ça. Parce que
like that. Because
il y a des meurtres,
there are murders,
il y a des massacres, il y a du chaos,
there are massacres, there is chaos,
il y a des viols. C'est vraiment horrible.
There are rapes. It's really horrible.
There are people who are cut up. It's really horrible, actually.
Dans une situation vraiment extrême.
In a truly extreme situation.
Mais...
But...
And then, all of a sudden, we have a new one.
conducteur. Et c'est là où, en fait, c'est vraiment beau.
driver. And that's where, in fact, it's really beautiful.
It is that when God raises up leaders,
eh bien, on voit
well, we see
how much of a blessing it is for the
peuple, en fait. Et à quel point ça va bénir
people, in fact. And how much it will bless
le peuple. Et
the people. And
donc, comparaison avec le Nouveau Testament,
so, comparison with the New Testament,
plutôt...
rather...
Old Testament, New Testament, these are terms that aren't really
juste. C'est plutôt Ancienne Alliance, Nouvelle Alliance.
Just. It's more like Old Covenant, New Covenant.
Et en fait, on voit que...
And in fact, we see that...
Et c'est ce qu'on a dit aussi dimanche
And that's what we said too on Sunday.
dernier. C'est que c'est le plan
last. It's that this is the plan.
de Dieu d'appeler des
of God to call some
personnes qui sont des dons, qui sont
people who are gifts, who are
donnés à l'Église comme apôtres,
given to the Church as apostles,
évangélistes, prophètes,
evangelists, prophets,
pasteurs et docteurs.
pastors and doctors.
Et ce sont des gens qui
And these are people who
they have the responsibility to lead the Church, in fact.
Pas comme
Not like
chef, pas comme roi,
chief, not like a king,
mais comme conducteur. Et c'est le terme
but as a driver. And that’s the term.
qui est gardé. C'est pas le terme de chef qui est gardé, c'est pas
who is kept. It's not the term of chief that is kept, it's not
the term king is not at all that. So, there is no longer any hierarchy,
il n'y a plus de cette
there is no more of this
super great authority, but there is this recognition
de ce rôle. Et
of this role. And
le fait de conduire le peuple,
the act of leading the people,
c'est extrêmement important. Et quand, dans l'Église,
it is extremely important. And when, in the Church,
qui est le peuple de Dieu
Who is the people of God?
currently, even if the Jewish people, it is too,
but in another way, well, actually,
on remet en question toujours la
We always question the
position des pasteurs. C'est un
position of pastors. It's a
truc qui est un peu...
thing that is a bit...
There is a bit of a yellow vest wave in the Church.
actuellement. C'est que chacun, finalement,
currently. It's that each one, after all,
Everyone does a bit what they want, like in the judges.

wants. There is no authority above you.
D'accord, lis les juges.
Okay, read the judges.
Regarde, en fait. Et en fait, le peuple
Look, in fact. And in fact, the people.
a besoin de bons conducteurs.
needs good drivers.
Il a besoin de conducteurs. Et en fait,
He needs drivers. And in fact,
there it is, God shows it over centuries, over centuries,
sur des siècles. Et par contre,
over centuries. And on the other hand,
il montre aussi qu'aucun conducteur
it also shows that no driver
ne peut
cannot
s'élever
to rise
comme conducteur lui-même. C'est ce que
as a driver himself. That's what
Dieu le montre de tout temps. Moïse n'a pas
God shows it at all times. Moses did not.
choose to be a driver. Joshua did not choose to be a driver.
Samuel didn't choose to be a driver, actually.
Et en fait, c'est Dieu qui fait
And in fact, it is God who does.
les choses, en fait. C'est Dieu qui...
the things, in fact. It's God who...
qui...
who...
et qui...
and who...
et tous les conducteurs pointent
and all the drivers point
sur le seul roi, le seul
on the only king, the only one
prophète, le seul berger qui est
prophet, the only shepherd who is
Jésus-Christ, le fils de Dieu.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
