Parce qu'en fait, cet album-là, on l'a sorti il y a un petit moment.

Et donc, forcément, l'actu moins là.

Et puis, on a aussi des concerts.

On est en contrainte, car nous jouons avec un vidéoprojecteur.

Et pour ça, il faut jouer de nuit.

Donc, de temps en temps, ça freine aussi de ce côté-là.

C'est pour ça que tu as passé 21 heures ici au festival Les Nuits Courtes.

Le côté scénographie, c'est vraiment important pour vous ?

Ouais, on a toujours aimé faire des projets qui s'inscrivent aussi dans un spectacle, quoi.

Yeah, we've always loved to work on projects that are also part of a show, you know.

Il faut que les gens, quand ils viennent te voir, il y ait le son, mais il y ait aussi l'image, quoi.

People need to see you when they come to see you; there has to be sound, but there also has to be an image, you know.

Sur le projet précédent, déjà, on faisait déjà de la projection.

On the previous project, we were already doing projections.

Et on avait trouvé ça vraiment...

And we had found that really...

Déjà, parce que tu manies un autre art, qui est vraiment le...

Et en plus...

And on top of that...

On travaille avec des gens avec qui on peut se permettre, qui sont doués dans ça.

We work with people we can trust, who are good at that.

Donc, c'est cool.

So, that's cool.

Tu vois, tu vas vers l'art visuel qui est différent, vers une mise en scène aussi,

You see, you are moving towards visual art, which is different, towards a staging as well,

qui te permet d'avoir un autre récit que tes clips ou alors tes chansons.

who allows you to have another narrative besides your clips or your songs.

Donc, voilà, c'est cool parce que c'est enrichissant.

Et je trouve que pour le public, c'est plus intéressant.

And I find that for the audience, it's more interesting.

Vous avez commencé, d'ailleurs, dans les arts de rue.

Ouais, c'est vrai que la base, le nom Kabaddi était pour une troupe de cirque.

Et moi, j'ai commencé dans la compagnie, parce que c'était une compagnie à l'époque,

And I started in the company because it was a company at the time,

en tant que beatboxer.

as a beatboxer.

Mais qui jouait...

Je jouais mon propre rôle de beatboxer, mais dans un spectacle, quoi.

I was playing my own role as a beatboxer, but in a show, you know.

Qui s'appelait 13ème à table.

Où il y avait aussi un danseur hip-hop et un circassien.

Where there was also a hip-hop dancer and a circus performer.

Et par la suite, on a voulu élargir le côté musique.

And subsequently, we wanted to broaden the musical side.

Parce que le spectacle...

Moi, je jouais un rôle, mais de base, je faisais la musique du spectacle, quoi.

I was playing a role, but basically, I was making the music for the show, you know.

Et donc, cette musique-là, on s'était dit, tiens,

And so, this music, we said to ourselves, well,

on va le mettre sur un album.

We are going to put it on an album.

Et puis, le...

And then, the...

Qu'est-ce qui t'a inspiré à l'époque où tu t'es lancé dans le monde de la musique ?

What inspired you at the time you ventured into the world of music?

Alors, ce qui m'a inspiré...

Déjà, tu t'es lancé en quelle année ?

Alors, je me suis lancé, il y a, je dirais...

En fait, moi, de base, c'est Lulu, en fait, qui est venu me chercher.

Ouais, c'est le gars qui crie.

Et à l'époque, il écrivait les spectacles, aussi.

Et il avait besoin d'un beatboxer.

And he needed a beatboxer.

J'ai joué sous son chapiteau, parce qu'il avait la compagnie.

I played under his tent because he had the company.

Et c'est là que l'aventure a commencé.

And that's where the adventure began.

Moi, à la base, je ne savais pas ce que j'allais faire de ma vie.

Me, basically, I didn't know what I was going to do with my life.

Et donc, c'est tombé à un moment où il me dit,

And so, it happened at a moment when he tells me,

vas-y, tu fais la musique du spectacle.

Go ahead, you make the music for the show.

Et j'ai fait, ouais, OK, vas-y.

And I did, yeah, okay, go ahead.

Si je ne le fais pas maintenant, je ne le ferai jamais.

If I don't do it now, I will never do it.

C'est une super opportunité, donc j'y vais.

It's a great opportunity, so I'm going for it.

Et donc, voilà.

And so, there you go.

Et à l'époque, ce qui m'influençait, c'était à mort.

And at the time, what influenced me was to death.

Rap américain indé.

Independent American rap.

Un label qui s'appelle Anticon, dont j'étais vraiment, vraiment très, très fan.

A label called Anticon, of which I was really, really a huge, huge fan.

Dedans, il y a Doze One, Why, des artistes comme Buck 65 faisaient des trucs.

Inside, there is Doze One, Why, artists like Buck 65 were doing things.

Des mecs comme Sage Francis.

Guys like Sage Francis.

Et c'est des mecs qui m'inspiraient de ouf,

And these are guys who inspired me a lot,

parce qu'on sentait qu'ils faisaient de la musique avec pas grand-chose.

because you could feel that they were making music with very little.

C'était des débrouillards.

They were resourceful.

Et qu'avec rien, ils faisaient des trucs que je trouvais qu'ils tabassaient.

And with nothing, they were doing things that I thought were really impressive.

Le côté authentique.

The authentic side.

Ouais, le côté je fais moi-même.

Yeah, the do-it-yourself side.

Avec des assiettes, des cuillères.

With plates, with spoons.

Ouais, mais vraiment, il y avait un peu ça.

Yeah, but really, there was a bit of that.

Parce que c'était déjà un peu l'époque où...

Because it was already a bit of the time when...

Parce que maintenant, tout est fusion.

Because now, everything is fusion.

Mais au début, ça se faisait pas tant que ça.

But in the beginning, it wasn't done that much.

Il y a 10-15 ans, la fusion.

10-15 years ago, the merger.

Et déjà, eux, ils faisaient du hip-hop un peu folk.

And already, they were doing a bit of folk hip-hop.

Et il y avait beaucoup de samples de guitare.

And there were a lot of guitar samples.

Mais pas forcément de guitare électrique.

But not necessarily electric guitar.

Et c'est un truc qui me plaisait de fou de pouvoir faire...

En fait, en tout cas, ça m'a...

Enlevé des peurs que je pouvais avoir sur le fait d'être nul.

Genre, c'est à chier, machin.

En fait, tu sentais que les gars, ils avaient pas une formation de cinglés de musiciens.

Et pourtant, ils faisaient de la musique.

Et c'était cool.

Mais ça ressemblait à du pro, en fait.

Et puis après, ils ont...

Même si, en plus, au state, c'est un peu plus difficile.

et les tournées, c'est plus galère maintenant que j'ai une fille

And touring is more of a hassle now that I have a daughter.

parce que je suis loin d'elle et tout.

Et je me dis, est-ce que ça en vaut encore la peine,

Mais finalement, en fait, ce qui est cool dans le live,

bon, déjà, c'est de le faire en vrai avec les vrais gens

Et puis finalement, la musique, quand tu l'écris,

t'as envie qu'elle soit écoutée

et tu la vois qu'elle est écoutée quand tu la joues, tu vois.

And you can see that she is being listened to when you play her, you see.

Et en plus, sur scène, comme on fait un taff un peu

de mise en scène, tout ça,

Actuellement, qu'est-ce qui te définirait le plus
