Je vous retrouve aujourd'hui pour parler d'un sujet qui m'anime depuis quelques temps.

I am here today to talk about a topic that has been inspiring me for some time.

C'est quelque chose auquel j'ai beaucoup beaucoup fait, beaucoup réfléchi, c'est le fait bien sûr de voyager seule.

It's something I've thought a lot about, of course the fact of traveling alone.

Je suis hyper contente de vous retrouver aujourd'hui pour vous parler un petit peu de tout ça.

A l'heure à laquelle j'enregistre cet épisode, nous sommes le 10 septembre et donc demain, jour auquel sort l'épisode d'aujourd'hui.

j'ai pris l'avion pour partir toute seule à New York pendant plus d'une semaine.

I took the plane to go to New York by myself for more than a week.

Et ça a été une expérience hyper enrichissante, si ce n'est l'expérience la plus enrichissante que j'ai eu à faire dans ma vie.

And it was an incredibly enriching experience, if not the most enriching experience I have had in my life.

Donc voilà, je voulais vous parler un petit peu de tout ça.

So here it is, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about all of this.

Et je voulais aussi vous faire un espèce de petit guide, peut-être pour ceux qui aimeraient partir seuls mais qui ne savent pas trop comment s'y prendre.

And I also wanted to create a kind of little guide, maybe for those who would like to travel alone but don't really know how to go about it.

Un petit guide qui va prendre une vingtaine de minutes, dans lequel je vais vous parler un petit peu de ce que j'aurais aimé connaître et aimer savoir avant de partir.

A little guide that will take about twenty minutes, in which I will talk to you a bit about what I would have liked to know and what I would have loved to know before leaving.

Alors pour vous donner déjà un petit contexte, tout commence il y a à peu près trois ans.

So to give you a bit of context, it all started about three years ago.

Pour une expérience professionnelle, je pars à Paris pendant trois jours.

For a work experience, I am going to Paris for three days.

Le premier et le troisième jour étaient vraiment là pour le travail.

The first and third days were really there for work.

Et le deuxième jour, donc le jour entre les deux jours, j'avais ma journée de libre.

And on the second day, so the day in between the two days, I had my day off.

Donc j'ai un petit peu réfléchi à savoir ce que je voulais faire pendant cette journée.

So I thought a little about what I wanted to do during this day.

Et puis en fait, je me suis un peu baladée dans Paris.

And then, in fact, I strolled around Paris a bit.

Et c'était un coup de cœur absolu.

And it was an absolute crush.

J'ai trop aimé prendre ce temps pour moi et choisir un petit peu les endroits que j'avais envie de voir, les endroits que j'avais envie d'explorer.

I enjoyed taking this time for myself and choosing a little bit the places I wanted to see, the places I wanted to explore.

Et surtout, c'était la première fois que je prenais l'avion où personne ne m'attendait à l'arrivée à l'aéroport.

And above all, it was the first time I took a plane where no one was waiting for me when I arrived at the airport.

J'ai été seule dans ma jambe d'hôtel.

I was alone in my hotel room.

J'ai interagi avec quelques personnes du travail qui n'étaient pas vraiment mes amies, des collègues.

I interacted with a few people from work who weren't really my friends, just colleagues.

Et ça a été la première fois que j'ai goûté un petit peu au voyage seule.

And it was the first time I tasted a little bit of traveling alone.

Et j'ai beaucoup aimé.

And I loved it very much.

Donc je m'étais dit que quelques temps plus tard, en tout cas dès que j'aurai l'occasion,

So I told myself that after some time, at least as soon as I have the chance,

je voulais refaire l'expérience en partant plus loin, plus longtemps et en étant vraiment, vraiment seule, sans collègues de travail, sans personne.

I wanted to redo the experience by going further, staying longer, and being really, really alone, without coworkers, without anyone.

C'est ce que j'ai donc fait l'année dernière, le 11 septembre 2023.

So that's what I did last year, on September 11, 2023.

Je suis partie à New York.

I went to New York.

Alors vous allez me dire comme d'habitude, je ne suis pas superstitieuse.

So you are going to tell me as usual, I am not superstitious.

Non, ça c'est sûr que je ne suis pas superstitieuse.

No, that's for sure that I'm not superstitious.

Donc je suis partie toute seule.

So I left all alone.

J'ai pris l'avion de chez moi pour rejoindre...

I took the plane from my home to join...

New York et donc j'ai passé une dizaine de jours directement sur place.

New York, so I spent about ten days right there.

C'est dingue parce qu'en y réfléchissant et en écrivant ce podcast, je me rends vraiment compte qu'il y a trois phases pour moi.

It's crazy because thinking about it and writing this podcast, I really realize that there are three phases for me.

Il y a vraiment le voyage quand tu le vis là-bas directement.

The journey really happens when you experience it directly there.

Il y a la première chose que tu peux dire, un peu le débrief de ton voyage quand tu reviens et tu as encore une autre vision du voyage un an après.

There is the first thing you can say, a bit like a debrief of your trip when you come back, and you have a different perspective on the journey a year later.

Donc là, je pense que je vais vous parler avec encore plus de recul par rapport à ce voyage.

So there, I think I will speak to you with even more hindsight regarding this trip.

Et puis j'ai également eu l'occasion d'en refaire un récemment.

And then I also had the opportunity to do one again recently.

Je suis repartie seule à Londres cet été, moins longtemps.

I went back alone to London this summer, for a shorter time.

Ce n'était pas vraiment prévu d'ailleurs, je vous en parlerai un peu plus en détail.

It wasn't really planned, by the way, I will talk to you about it in a bit more detail.

Mais voilà, je suis repartie seule à Londres cet été.

But there you have it, I went back to London alone this summer.

Et pareil, ça a été une super expérience avec quand même moins de choses positives que New York.

And similarly, it was a great experience with still fewer positive things than New York.

Mais voilà, dans tous les cas, maintenant je commence à connaître un peu la chanson et à savoir un petit peu comment ça se passe pour voyager.

Donc voilà, je vais vous parler dans un premier temps un petit peu de mon expérience.

J'ai classé en huit conseils, huit grandes thématiques que j'aimerais aborder pour vous parler un petit peu de tout ça.

Donc premièrement, par rapport à New York, honnêtement, je pense que j'en garde vraiment un souvenir incroyable.

So first of all, regarding New York, honestly, I think I have an incredible memory of it.

Je pense que quand j'y étais, j'ai dû me poser la question de savoir si j'avais vraiment envie de refaire cette expérience ou pas.

I think that when I was there, I must have asked myself whether I really wanted to go through that experience again or not.

Mais parce que je pense que j'étais encore trop dans le cœur de l'action.

But because I think I was still too much in the heat of the action.

Mais maintenant, un an après, c'est... Ouais, c'est beaucoup de nostalgie.

But now, a year later, it's... Yeah, it's a lot of nostalgia.

J'ai adoré me replonger dans ce voyage en regardant à nouveau les photos et les vidéos.

I loved diving back into this journey by looking at the photos and videos again.

Et en me remettant un petit peu dans l'ambiance de New York.

And getting myself a little back into the New York vibe.

Comme tous les voyages, il y a des moments incroyables et des moments forcément qui sont un petit peu moins bien.

Like all trips, there are amazing moments and moments that are necessarily a little less good.

Notamment quand on est seul. Je vais vous en parler juste après. Tout est démultiplié.

Especially when one is alone. I will talk to you about it just after. Everything is amplified.

C'est vraiment incroyable comment les moments incroyables sont extraordinaires.

It's truly amazing how incredible moments are extraordinary.

Et les moments où tu te sens un peu plus seul, un peu plus triste, sont vraiment plus difficiles.

And the moments when you feel a little more alone, a little more sad, are truly more difficult.

Mais voilà, avec le retour que j'ai aujourd'hui, je peux vraiment vous dire que c'est une expérience incroyable.

But here it is, with the feedback I have today, I can really tell you that it’s an incredible experience.

Qui m'a surtout permis de mieux me connaître et vraiment d'être confrontée à moi-même.

Which mainly allowed me to better understand myself and truly confront myself.

Et je pense que c'est ça qu'apporte le voyage. Quand tu voyages seul, c'est vraiment de passer du temps avec toi-même.

And I think that's what travel brings. When you travel alone, it's really about spending time with yourself.

Et de juste suivre ton instinct et faire tout ce que t'aimes et t'adapter à toi. Et surtout à t'écouter.

And just follow your instinct and do everything you love and adapt to yourself. And above all, listen to yourself.

Et sur ça, c'est vrai que... Bah, refaire.

And about that, it's true that... Well, redo.

À refaire, à refaire, à refaire. Et si vous avez vraiment l'occasion un jour de le faire, je vous conseille de le faire parce que c'est vraiment super enrichissant.

To do it again, to do it again, to do it again. And if you ever really have the opportunity to do it, I recommend you do it because it is truly very enriching.

Donc voilà par rapport à New York. Et puis par rapport à Londres. Donc cet été, au mois de juillet, je devais partir avec ma meilleure amie à Londres.

So here it is regarding New York. And then regarding London. So this summer, in July, I was supposed to go to London with my best friend.

On s'était prévu un grand week-end ensemble de 4-5 jours. Et en fait, la veille, elle a malheureusement attrapé le Covid qui a été assez violent.

We had planned a big weekend together for 4-5 days. And in fact, the day before, she unfortunately caught Covid, which was quite severe.

Donc la question s'est posée. Est-ce que j'y vais ? Est-ce que j'y vais pas ? Est-ce que j'annule le voyage ? Est-ce que j'y vais avec quelqu'un d'autre ? Etc, etc.

So the question arose. Should I go? Should I not go? Should I cancel the trip? Should I go with someone else? Etc., etc.

Et puis je me suis dit qu'après New York, bon bah, plus rien ne me faisait peur. Et puis pourquoi pas, finalement, prendre un peu l'air et partir toute seule.

And then I told myself that after New York, well, nothing scared me anymore. And why not, in the end, get some fresh air and go away by myself.

Donc c'est ce que j'ai fait. J'ai pris... Cette fois-ci, j'ai fait le voyage en deux fois. Parce qu'on avait prévu de se retrouver à Paris.

So that's what I did. I took... This time, I made the trip in two parts. Because we had planned to meet up in Paris.

Ça, c'est important de le souligner. Le temps de voyage et le trajet également est très important. Je vous conseille de faire un maximum de directs peu importe là où vous allez.

It's important to emphasize that. The travel time and the route are also very important. I advise you to take as many direct flights as possible, no matter where you are going.

D'éviter un peu les transferts. Parce que quand on est seule, c'est vrai que c'est un peu moins évident. Là, malheureusement, c'était prévu comme ça.

To avoid transfers a bit. Because when you're alone, it's true that it's a bit less obvious. Unfortunately, it was planned that way.

Donc j'ai transité par Paris. Et puis ensuite, je suis donc partie à Londres pendant 4 jours. Ça a été très déstabilisant, j'avoue.

So I passed through Paris. Then after that, I went to London for 4 days. It was very destabilizing, I admit.

Parce que je pense que je m'étais vraiment projetée à deux dans ce voyage. Et que là, ça a été un peu imposé. Donc c'était pas du tout la même ambiance que New York.

Because I think I had really envisioned this trip as a couple. And now, it was a bit imposed. So the atmosphere was not at all the same as in New York.

Le planning n'avait pas du tout été fait pareil. La chambre d'hôtel n'avait pas du tout été choisie pour être seule, etc. Donc j'ai vraiment vu aussi la différence

The schedule had not been done the same at all. The hotel room had not been chosen to be alone at all, etc. So I really noticed the difference as well.

entre organiser un voyage à deux et organiser un voyage que tu fais pour toi toute seule. Donc voilà, je pense que c'est aussi important de se projeter dans un voyage

between organizing a trip for two and organizing a trip that you do for yourself alone. So there you go, I think it's also important to envision a trip.

que tu as vraiment préparé depuis le début et dans lequel tu sais exactement où est-ce que tu vas et ce que tu as envie de faire. C'est vraiment hyper important.

that you have really prepared from the beginning and in which you know exactly where you are going and what you want to do. This is really very important.

Donc je pense que le premier conseil que je peux vous donner, c'est de bien choisir la destination qui comprend le temps qu'on a envie de rester.

So I think the first piece of advice I can give you is to carefully choose the destination, considering how long you want to stay.

Donc est-ce qu'on veut rester 3 semaines, 3 mois, 3 jours ? Ça, c'est vraiment à vous de voir.

So do we want to stay for 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 days? That's really up to you to decide.

Et également la distance. C'est pas du tout la même chose de partir sur un autre continent que de rester dans le même pays ou en Europe.

And also the distance. It's not the same at all to leave for another continent than to stay in the same country or in Europe.

Donc c'est aussi peut-être à vous de voir avec votre expérience. Si vous faites un premier voyage seul, vous pouvez faire comme j'ai fait moi par exemple,

So it's also up to you to consider your experience. If you take your first trip alone, you can do like I did, for example,

c'est-à-dire partir à Paris ou rester en France. Et puis une fois que vous êtes un peu aguerri et que vous avez un peu compris comment ça fonctionne,

that is to say, to leave for Paris or to stay in France. And then once you are a bit seasoned and have understood a little how it works,

vous pouvez après directement partir beaucoup plus loin, beaucoup plus longtemps et sur des choses qui vous ressemblent vraiment.

You can then go much further, for much longer, and on things that truly resonate with you.

A savoir que c'est aussi très important de planifier tout ce qu'il y a à côté.

It is also very important to plan everything that is alongside.

Donc c'est un peu le second point que je voulais vous partager. C'est tout ce qui va être la préparation du voyage.

So this is the second point I wanted to share with you. It's all about the preparation for the trip.

Je pense voyager seul prend beaucoup d'énergie, il peut se passer beaucoup beaucoup de choses.

I think traveling alone takes a lot of energy, a lot of things can happen.

Et si on veut essayer de l'apprécier un maximum, il faut vraiment je pense le préparer le plus possible.

And if we want to try to appreciate it as much as possible, I really think we need to prepare it as much as we can.

Donc ça prend plus de temps bien sûr. Mais on essaye d'éviter toutes les galères, toutes les contraintes,

So it takes more time, of course. But we try to avoid all the hassles, all the constraints,

toutes les choses un peu négatives qui peuvent arriver sur place

all the somewhat negative things that can happen on site

donc je pense
