Ça fait une dizaine d'années que je suis en Asie du Sud-Est, entre la Thaïlande et l'Indonésie.

I've been in Southeast Asia for about ten years, between Thailand and Indonesia.

Et là depuis deux ans, réinstallé en Indonésie car j'étais parti pendant le Covid.

Alors j'ai commencé à voyager en Asie en 2005.

So I started traveling in Asia in 2005.

En Thaïlande principalement.

In Thailand mainly.

Et j'ai beaucoup aimé ce pays donc je l'ai traversé un petit peu dans toute sa longueur.

And I really liked this country so I crossed it a little bit all the way through.

Et puis toutes les années je suis retourné pendant 3-4 ans.

And then every year I went back for 3-4 years.

Et donc j'atterrissais toujours à Bangkok et puis après j'ai exploré le Cambodge, le Vietnam, Laos, Birmanie, Malaisie.

And so I always landed in Bangkok and then I explored Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia.

Et puis un jour j'ai décidé de changer de vie et puis vu que j'étais passionné par la plongée,

And then one day I decided to change my life, and since I was passionate about diving,

que c'était un peu quelque chose que je faisais déjà chez moi à Marseille,

j'ai échangé naturellement là-dedans.

Et puis après j'ai évolué, j'ai rencontré des bonnes personnes surtout.

Et puis maintenant je suis dirigeant d'un centre de plongée en cours.

And now I am the manager of a diving center in progress.

Et la plongée du coup à Marseille, tu en faisais pour le plaisir ?

J'en faisais pour le plaisir, week-end, principalement en vacances aussi.

I did it for pleasure, mainly on weekends and also during vacations.

Donc j'ai commencé très jeune, j'avais 12 ans.

So I started very young, I was 12 years old.

Donc actuellement j'en ai 43.

So currently I have 43.

Donc j'ai été introduit dans la plongée par mes parents, par mon père principalement.

So I was introduced to diving by my parents, mainly by my father.

Parce qu'on habitait près de la plage, qu'on avait des barrières.

Because we lived near the beach, we had barriers.

Donc ça s'est fait naturellement.

À mon niveau de plongée, tu veux me parler ?

Alors, en français je suis examinateur pour une agence qui s'appelle SSI.

So, in French, I am an examiner for an agency called SSI.

Donc je suis aussi instructeur trainer.

So I am also a training instructor.

Donc je prépare des gens à l'examen, mais je peux aussi les examiner.

So I prepare people for the exam, but I can also examine them.

Alors je ne peux pas examiner mes propres candidats, mais je peux examiner les candidats d'autres personnes.

So I can't assess my own candidates, but I can assess other people's candidates.

Et sinon côté français, je suis moniteur fédéral pour mes deux bains aussi en français.

And on the French side, I am a federal instructor for my two pools also in French.

D'accord. Ok. Qui a à peu près le même niveau ?

Alright. Ok. Who is about at the same level?

Qui a un niveau d'instructeur SSI ou PADI.

Who has an SSI or PADI instructor level.

Mais moniteur fédéral en France, tu ne peux travailler qu'en France en milieu associatif.

But as a federal monitor in France, you can only work in France in the non-profit sector.

Parce que si tu veux être rémunéré, il faut avoir un diplôme d'État.

Because if you want to be paid, you need to have a state diploma.

Ok. Et sur le système international du coup…

En gros, il y a deux grands acteurs, SSI et PADI, c'est ça ?

Basically, there are two major players, SSI and PADI, right?

SSI et PADI, donc c'est du récréationnel.

SSI and PADI, so it's recreational.

Donc c'est des agences qui vendent de la plongée.

So they are agencies that sell diving.

Oui, c'est les deux premières sur le marché.

C'est un peu comme Coca-Cola et Pepsi, j'ai envie de te dire.

C'est un petit peu la concurrence entre les deux.

Donc une qui est américaine et une qui est allemande depuis 2011.

Et donc SSI qui fait partie du groupe AID qui s'occupe des rackets de tennis,

des snowboards, des choses comme ça.

D'accord. Et pourquoi… Et donc tu t'es orienté tout de suite vers SSI ?

Donc je suis arrivé en Thaïlande.

J'ai été niveau 3 français.

Donc j'ai juste fait une passerelle pour devenir guide de palanquée,

So I just completed a bridge to become a dive guide.

donc le Dye Master Chef.

Ensuite j'ai passé mon instructeur à chez PADI aussi parce que c'était il y a plus de 10 ans

Then I passed my instructor with PADI too because it was more than 10 years ago.

et PADI était quand même majoritaire sur le marché.

Et après j'ai basculé chez SSI parce que chez PADI,

And then I switched to SSI because at PADI,

je travaillais sur l'île de Koh Tao,

I was working on the island of Koh Tao,

il y avait de moins en moins de travail en fait pour les instructeurs PADI.

There was less and less work for PADI instructors, in fact.

Et SSI est arrivé en grande pompe quoi.

And SSI arrived in grand style, of course.

Et du coup j'ai fait un crossover.

And so I made a crossover.

Et puis j'ai rencontré aussi Willy Friederwey qui est le boss de French Skis Diver

qui était instructeur trainer aussi à l'époque,

qui m'a fait passer un crossover.

Et qui m'a permis d'évoluer dans sa boîte assez rapidement.

Et pour ça en fait, c'est les opportunités.

Donc Corogne c'est surtout pour les épaves.

Pourquoi ? Parce que c'est situé dans un port

et il y a eu des batailles pendant la seconde guerre mondiale entre les Japonais et les Américains,

du coup il y a pas mal d'épaves.

So there are quite a few wrecks.

Donc spécifique pour ça.

So specific for that.

Ensuite il y a Malapascua qui est spécifique pour tout ce qui est requins et renards.

Côte à eau, requins et baleines.

Et ici en Indonésie pour les mantas.

Ok. Il y a pas mal de courant pour avoir fait des plongées.

Côte à eau j'appelle ça un peu la Méditerranée d'Asie.

Ça ne bouge pas, il fait très chaud.

Ici on peut avoir des températures en hiver,

justement en ce moment c'est l'hiver austral entre 17°C et 22°C

Donc il faut quand même savoir gérer un groupe

Et historiquement ça a commencé où French Kiss ?

French Kiss, maison mère, ça a commencé à Koh Tao en 2011 exactement.

Landbogan, donc Indonésie, ça a été ouvert en 2017.

Donc là on fête les 6 ans dans quelques jours,

Ok donc 6 ans ici, toi tu as participé au lancement ?

Alors moi j'ai participé au lancement des formations professionnelles en fait.

Donc je suis arrivé ici en 2018.

Je travaillais toujours sur le côté ronde Thaïlande

mais j'étais le seul instructeur trainer dans les French Kiss.

But I was the only trainer instructor in the French Kiss.

Donc je voyageais entre les Philippines, la Thaïlande et l'Indonésie

Et puis après j'en ai eu un petit peu marre

And then I got a little bit fed up.

parce que c'est quand même assez fatigant de voyager tout le temps comme ça.

Donc je me suis installé en Indonésie et ça c'était juste 6 mois avant le Covid.

So I settled in Indonesia and that was just 6 months before Covid.

Et pourquoi le choix de l'Indonésie ?

And why the choice of Indonesia?

L'Indonésie parce que j'ai passé 7 ans en Thaïlande

Indonesia because I spent 7 years in Thailand.

et que j'avais un petit peu changé aussi.

and that I had changed a little bit too.

Pas que je n'aime pas la Thaïlande mais j'adore la Thaïlande,

Not that I don't like Thailand, but I love Thailand.

j'adore la nourriture, j'adore les gens.

I love food, I love people.

C'est juste que j'étais un petit peu lassé par la plongée à Koh Tao

et que j'avais envie de faire autre chose.

and that I wanted to do something else.

Justement aussi développer la plongée technique au moment un petit peu plus profond.

Precisely, also develop technical diving at a slightly deeper level.

Et cette profondeur on peut la retrouver ici qu'on ne retrouve pas à Koh Tao aussi.

Ok, donc sur l'Indonésie on va avoir beaucoup plus de profondeur ?

Il y a beaucoup plus de profondeur.

Pareil pour un exemple, autour de l'Ambogan c'est entre 300 et 600 mètres.

Le golfe de Thaïlande c'est maximum 60 mètres de profondeur.

Autour de Koh Tao c'est très difficile de trouver 45 mètres.

D'accord.

Et toi c'est vraiment cette partie-là technique qui est ce qu'on appelle plus récréative.

Donc moi j'ai déjà fait de la plongée récréative.
