Then another, yet another, that voice that was screaming.

J'ai ouvert les yeux d'un coup en prenant une large respiration.

I opened my eyes suddenly while taking a deep breath.

Et devant moi se tenait un démon.

And in front of me stood a demon.

Mais pas celui auquel je m'attendais.

But not the one I was expecting.

Eva.

Elle se tenait juste au-dessus de moi, les genoux sur mon lit,

She was standing right above me, her knees on my bed,

tenant une seringue remplie d'un produit inconnu,

holding a syringe filled with an unknown substance,

avec une expression horrible d'extase sur son visage habituellement si doux,

with a horrible expression of ecstasy on her usually gentle face,

et me tenant la mâchoire d'un côté pour dévoiler mon coup.

And holding my jaw on one side to expose my neck.

Mais qui était cette personne ?

But who was that person?

Est-ce qu'elle avait été possédée par la chose qui m'avait hanté les deux dernières nuits ?

Had she been possessed by the thing that had haunted me for the last two nights?

Non.

No.

Je pouvais le voir dans ses yeux.

I could see it in his eyes.

Pour la première fois, je voyais son vrai visage.

For the first time, I saw her true face.

Le visage d'une tueuse maniaque.

The face of a maniacal killer.

Je me sentais encore faible.

I still felt weak.

J'avais l'impression de pouvoir à peine lever les bras.

I felt as if I could barely raise my arms.

Et elle semblait tellement forte au-dessus de moi.

And she seemed so strong above me.

Cette fois-ci, ça allait vraiment être la fin.

This time, it was really going to be the end.

C'était elle qui était censée faire les rondes pour assurer ma sécurité après tout.

It was she who was supposed to make the rounds to ensure my safety after all.

Personne n'allait venir me sauver.

No one was coming to save me.

Alors qu'elle s'apprêtait à planter son aiguille dans mon cou,

As she was about to stick her needle into my neck,

elle s'est soudainement figée en regardant par-dessus mon épaule.

She suddenly froze while looking over my shoulder.

Toute trace d'extase s'était évanouie pour laisser place à une peur effroyable.

All traces of ecstasy had vanished, giving way to a dreadful fear.

Puis l'instant d'après, la colère.

Then the next moment, anger.

Cette fois, vous ne pourrez pas m'arrêter.

This time, you won't be able to stop me.

Elle a crié avant de se reprendre.

She shouted before composing herself.

Ce délai m'avait laissé suffisamment de temps pour reprendre mes esprits et réfléchir à une sortie.

This delay had given me enough time to collect my thoughts and think of an exit.

J'ai subitement tourné mon corps en entier dans mon lit et je l'ai projeté au sol avec moi.

I suddenly turned my entire body in my bed and threw it to the floor with me.

J'avais l'impression de me débattre avec une banshee.

I felt like I was wrestling with a banshee.

Elle semblait complètement folle.

She seemed completely crazy.

Elle hurlait à plein poumon qu'elle allait me tuer,

She was screaming at the top of her lungs that she was going to kill me,

alors que je donnais toute mon énergie pour retenir son bras dans l'aiguille.

as I was putting all my energy into holding his arm in the needle.

Au bout d'un moment, probablement moins de dix secondes,

After a moment, probably less than ten seconds,

qui m'en semblait être dix minutes,

which seemed to me to be ten minutes,

un médecin est rentré en trombe dans ma chambre,

a doctor burst into my room,

et on réussit à maîtriser Eva.

and we managed to subdue Eva.

J'ai rampé vers un mur pour y poser mon dos,

il n'a pas fallu longtemps avant qu'elle réussisse à la faire.

It didn't take long before she succeeded in doing it.

Eva voulait meurtre.

Eva wanted murder.

Eva était une veuve noire,

Eva was a black widow,

une tueuse en série qui utilisait sa position de confiance d'infirmière pour tuer des patients.

a serial killer who used her trusted position as a nurse to kill patients.

Elle utilisait un produit indétectable, qui était la cause directe des arrêts cardiaques.

She used an undetectable substance, which was the direct cause of the cardiac arrests.

La raison pour laquelle elle avait tué ses sept patients,

The reason she had killed her seven patients,

et tenté de me tuer,

and tried to kill me,

était inconnue.

was unknown.

Mon état de santé avait empiré à cause de tous ces événements,

My health had worsened because of all these events,

et j'ai fini par rester une semaine de plus hospitalisé.

And I ended up staying hospitalized for another week.

Rien d'étrange ne s'est passé pendant tout mon séjour.

Nothing strange happened during my entire stay.

Tout était redevenu normal.

Everything had returned to normal.

Et alors même que je prenais mes affaires le dernier jour,

And even as I was packing my things on the last day,

avant de quitter ma chambre,

before leaving my room,

j'ai cru entendre des chuchotements venir de quelque part dans la pièce.

I thought I heard whispers coming from somewhere in the room.

Je me suis retourné sous le coup de la surprise.

I turned around in surprise.

Et j'ai juste dit ce qui m'est venu instinctivement sur le moment.

And I just said what came to me instinctively at the moment.
