Only those who are born of the word of promise are the children of God.

Genèse 17, verset 1 à 22.

Genesis 17, verses 1 to 22.

Et Abraham était âgé de 99 ans, et l'Éternel apparut à Abraham et lui dit,

And Abraham was ninety-nine years old, and the Lord appeared to Abraham and said to him,

« Je suis le Dieu Tout-Puissant, marche devant ma face et sois parfait,

"I am the Almighty God, walk before me and be perfect."

et je mettrai mon alliance entre moi et toi, je te multiplierai extrêmement. »

"And I will establish my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you exceedingly."

Et Abraham tomba sur sa face et Dieu parla avec lui, disant,

« Quant à moi, voici mon alliance est avec toi et tu seras père d'une multitude de nations,

"As for me, here is my covenant with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations."

et ton nom ne sera plus appelé Abraham, mais ton nom sera Abraham,

for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations,

And kings will come from you, and I will establish my covenant between me and you.

celui qui est né dans la maison, celui qui est acheté à prix d'argent,

the one who is born in the house, the one who is bought for a price of money,

tout fils d'étranger qui n'est point de ta semence,

every son of a foreigner who is not of your seed,

on ne manquera point de circoncire celui qui est né dans ta maison

We will not fail to circumcise him who is born in your house.

et celui qui est acheté de ton argent,

and he who is bought with your money,

et mon alliance sera dans votre chair comme une alliance perpétuelle,

and my covenant will be in your flesh as an everlasting covenant,

and the cunning circumcised one who will not have been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin,

cette âme sera retranchée de ses peuples, il a violé mon alliance,

this soul shall be cut off from its people, he has violated my covenant,

et Dieu dit à Abraham,

And God said to Abraham,

« Quant à Sarahie, ta femme, tu n'appelleras plus son nom Sarahie, mais Sarah sera son nom,

"As for Sarahie, your wife, you will no longer call her name Sarahie, but Sarah will be her name."

et je la bénirai, et même je te donnerai d'elle un fils,

and I will bless her, and indeed I will give you a son from her,

et je la bénirai, et elle deviendra des nations, des rois de peuples sortiront d'elle. »

"And I will bless her, and she will become nations; kings of peoples will come from her."

Et Abraham tomba sur sa face, il rit et dit en son cœur,

And Abraham fell on his face, he laughed and said in his heart,

« Naîtrait-il un fils à un homme âgé de cent ans, et Sarah âgée de quatre-vingt-dix ans,

"Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old, and will Sarah, aged ninety, give birth?"

"Would she give birth?"

Et Abraham dit à Dieu, « Ô qu'Ismaël vive devant toi ! »

And Abraham said to God, "Oh that Ishmael might live before you!"

Et Dieu dit, « Certainement Sarah, ta femme, t'enfantera un fils,

And God said, "Certainly Sarah, your wife, will bear you a son,

tu appelleras son nom Isaac,

you shall call his name Isaac,

et j'établirai mon alliance avec lui comme alliance perpétuelle pour sa semence après lui.

And I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Et à l'égard d'Ismaël, je t'ai exaucé, voici je l'ai béni,

And regarding Ismaël, I have heard you; here I have blessed him.

et je le ferai fructifier et multiplier extrêmement,

and I will make it fruitful and multiply it exceedingly,

il engendrera douze chefs, et je le ferai devenir une grande nation,

he will father twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation,

mais mon alliance, je l'établirai avec Isaac,

but my covenant I will establish with Isaac,

que Sarah t'enfantera dans cette saison l'année qui vient. »

that Sarah will bear you a son in this season next year."

Et ayant achevé de parler avec lui, Dieu monta d'auprès d'Abraham,

And having finished speaking with him, God went up from Abraham.

et il dit à Abraham,

and he said to Abraham,

« Qui était Abraham, et comment Dieu a-t-il agi envers Abraham ? »

"Who was Abraham, and how did God act towards Abraham?"

Aujourd'hui, je vais parler d'Abraham, j'ai nommé le père de la foi.

Today, I will talk about Abraham, whom I have named the father of faith.

Je veux observer le sujet de savoir qui il était et comment Dieu a agi envers lui.

I want to observe the subject of knowing who he was and how God acted towards him.

Dieu est apparu à Abraham assez souvent après qu'il ait quitté sa patrie,

God appeared to Abraham quite often after he left his homeland,

à savoir Ur de Chaldée.

The first time God appeared to Abraham was when he arrived at a place.

When God gave His word to Abraham, he then called upon the name of the Lord,

« Ne crains point, Abraham, je suis ton bouclier, ta très grande récompense. »

"Do not be afraid, Abraham, I am your shield, your very great reward."

Genèse 15, verset 1,

« Mais Abraham a dit à Dieu,

"But Abraham said to God,"

« Éternel Dieu, que me donneras-tu, sachant que je suis sans enfant,

"Eternal God, what will you give me, knowing that I am without a child,"

et que l'héritier de ma maison est Eliezer de Damas. »

"and that the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus."

Genèse 15, verset 2,

Genesis 15:2

« Ce qu'Abraham disait réellement ici, c'était,

"What Abraham was really saying here was,"

« Éternel Dieu, tu ne m'as pas donné de descendance,

"Eternal God, you have not given me any offspring."

donc je n'ai pas d'autre choix que de faire d'Eliezer mon héritier. »

"Therefore, I have no choice but to make Eliezer my heir."

Le Seigneur répondit alors,

The Lord then replied,

« Celui-ci ne sera pas ton héritier,

"This one will not be your heir,

"And Abraham believed in the Lord, and he accounted it to him for righteousness."

Il lui dit ensuite,

He then said to her,

« Je suis l'Éternel qui t'ai fait sortir du rang caldé

"I am the Lord who brought you out of the land of the Chaldeans."

"to give you this country as an inheritance."

Alors Abraham demanda,

So Abraham asked,

« Éternel Dieu, comment saurais-je que j'en aurais hérité ? »

"Everlasting God, how will I know that I will inherit it?"

Et Dieu lui dit,

And God said to him,

« Amène-moi une génisse de trois ans et une chèvre de trois ans

"Bring me a three-year-old heifer and a three-year-old goat."

et un bélier de trois ans et une tourterelle et un jeune pigeon. »

"And a three-year-old ram and a turtledove and a young pigeon."

Il lui apporta tout cela.

He brought her all that.

Genèse 15, verset 8 à 9,

Genesis 15, verses 8 to 9,

« Qu'a dit Dieu ? »

"What did God say?"

Finalement, quand il a vu la foi authentique d'Abraham,

il a donné à Abraham une promesse de bénédiction

He gave Abraham a promise of blessing.

et dit que ses descendants seraient esclaves en Égypte pendant 400 ans,

et avec cette foi il a obéi à tout ce que Dieu lui disait de faire.

And with this faith, he obeyed everything God told him to do.

Dieu dit alors à Abraham, fidèle,

God then said to Abraham, faithful,

« Je suis ton bouclier et ta très grande récompense. »

"I am your shield and your very great reward."

Quand Abraham a entendu cela, il a dit,

When Abraham heard this, he said,

« Éternel Dieu, qu'essaies-tu de me donner ?

"Eternal God, what are you trying to give me?"

Je n'ai rien à espérer.

I have nothing to hope for.

Même si tu me donnes tout, mon héritier n'est pas mon vrai fils,

Even if you give me everything, my heir is not my real son.

donc tout est inutile. »

"so everything is useless."

Alors Dieu répondit,

So God answered,

« Il ne sera pas ton héritier,

"He will not be your heir,"

mais ton propre fils le sera.

but your own son will be.

Regarde les étoiles du ciel,

Look at the stars in the sky,

je te donnerai autant de descendance que ces étoiles. »

"I will give you as many descendants as there are stars."

En Genèse 16, nous voyons qu'Abraham,

In Genesis 16, we see that Abraham,

même s'il a cru dans la promesse de Dieu,

even though he believed in God's promise,

a couché avec la servante de Sarah

slept with Sarah's maid

et a eu un fils nommé Ismaël.

and had a son named Ishmael.

Abraham était âgé de 75 ans

Abraham was 75 years old.

quand il a quitté Hur en Caldé

when he left Ur in Chaldea

et Ismaël est né quand il avait l'âge de 86 ans.

And Ishmael was born when he was 86 years old.

Il a attendu 11 ans d'avoir un enfant depuis son départ.

He waited 11 years to have a child since his departure.

Néanmoins, Dieu lui a dit,

Nevertheless, God said to him,

« Je lui avais promis que celui qui viendrait de son propre corps

"I had promised him that the one who would come from his own body"

serait son héritier

would be his heir

et que cette descendance serait aussi nombreuse

and that this offspring would be just as numerous

Mais 11 ans plus tard,

et Dieu parla avec lui disant,

And God spoke with him saying,

et tu seras père d'une multitude de nations

and you will be the father of a multitude of nations

et ton nom ne sera plus appelé Abraham

Et Abraham a dit,

And Abraham said,

« Je suis le Dieu Tout-Puissant. »

que signifie cette parole de promesse ?

« Dieu dit que tout enfant mâle

Genesis 17:21

C'est ce que Dieu lui a promis.

L'alliance avec Abraham

The alliance with Abraham
