J'ai grandi aussi.

Et à l'âge de 30 ans à peu près, je suis parti en France, à Paris.

Et je suis journaliste, musicien, chroniqueur, musicien amateur.

Je joue de plusieurs instruments.

Alors, l'Oulala est un bloc qui est né d'une idée de Charlotte,

qui est ma femme, elle est française.

Who is my wife? She is French.

Elle habite à Rio, il y a neuf ans.

She has lived in Rio for nine years.

Et chaque année, elle me disait qu'on devait construire un bloc de carnaval,

Je ne savais pas comment faire un bloc de carnaval,

L'idée initiale était de faire un trio électrique, de jouer avec la guitare, la bande,

mais j'ai décidé que j'allais apprendre à jouer un instrument de souffle

J'ai décidé l'année dernière que c'était le moment de fondre l'Oulala,

de faire un bloc qui réunissait cette recherche musicale

C'est une recherche que j'ai faite il y a presque 20 ans.

Et à partir de cette recherche, j'ai décidé qu'il allait être le répertoire du Lalao.

And from this research, I decided that he would be the directory of the Lalao.

On allait faire cette ponte musicale,

comme je dis, qui réunit la Torre Eiffel jusqu'au pain de sucre.

Cette ponte qui réunit les deux pays depuis 200 ans,

quels ont été les défis auxquels vous avez été confrontés pour créer ce bloco

et comment vous les avez relevés ?

And how did you notice them?

Et par ailleurs, quels ont été les meilleurs moments jusqu'à aujourd'hui ?

Les défis, tout d'abord,

The challenges, first of all,

c'était...

c'était de créer le bloco.

On avait une idée.

We had an idea.

J'avais déjà le concept prêt dans ma tête.

I already had the concept ready in my head.

Je savais ce que je voulais comme bloco.

I knew what I wanted as a bloco.

Je savais que je voulais un bloco qui fasse ce dialogue musical entre les deux pays.

I knew I wanted a bloco that would create this musical dialogue between the two countries.

Mais après ça, il fallait appeler des musiciens,

But after that, we had to call musicians,

il fallait faire les arrangements et tout ça.

It was necessary to make the arrangements and all that.

Donc, la première personne que j'ai appelée, c'était vous.

So, the first person I called was you.

Et vous m'avez dit tout de suite,

And you told me right away,

OK, voilà, je suis dedans.

OK, here I am, I'm in it.

Donc, c'était bien.

C'était bien.

On avait déjà Charlotte, vous et moi.

We already had Charlotte, you and me.

On était trois au départ.

Et après, j'ai commencé à faire les arrangements,

mais je ne suis pas musicien professionnel.

Donc, je suis amateur.

Et après, il fallait que quelqu'un en réalise, etc.

Ce n'était pas évident.

Et la création de la fanfare de musiciens du bloco,

c'était vraiment compliqué parce qu'il faut convaincre 30 personnes

de faire partie d'un projet qu'ils ne connaissent pas.

Et voilà.

Donc, je pense qu'on était bien là-dedans parce que ça marchait.

So, I think we were fine in that because it was working.

On était 30, on était 35 au défilé, peut-être.

We were 30, we were 35 at the parade, maybe.

Et le moment le plus magique, c'était ça.

And the most magical moment was that.

C'était le défilé, le premier défilé.

It was the parade, the first parade.

Vraiment, quand j'ai vu, on était 30 musiciens,

Really, when I saw, there were 30 musicians.

plus la fanfare Foulou qui était venue de Toulouse,

more the Foulou band that had come from Toulouse,

plus 2 000 personnes sur la plage d'Ourka.

over 2,000 people on Ourka beach.

Et en plus, c'était mon anniversaire de 50 ans, ce jour-là.

And on top of that, it was my 50th birthday that day.

Donc, c'était vraiment un moment hyper magique de ma vie du bloco.

So, it was really a super magical moment of my life in the bloco.

C'était vraiment un super début.

Difficile d'imaginer un plus bel événement pour fêter ses 50 ans.

It's hard to imagine a more beautiful event to celebrate one's 50th birthday.

2 000 invités, plus 40 musiciens, plus 10 danseuses, etc.
