I can call myself an artist, I have already been an editor for an online contemporary art magazine.

et je suis aussi membre d'un collectif, d'un collectif différent qui gère l'espace d'un artiste.

Je suis une artiste qui vient de l'Argentine, du Mexique

et qui maintenant habite à Montréal depuis deux ans, 12 ans.

Donc, quand je suis venue à Montréal, Dominique était l'une des très peu de personnes que je connaissais dans la ville,

Eh bien, je me souviens quand nous nous sommes rencontrés.

Nous nous sommes rencontrés à travers l'objectif de faire...

de faire un projet pour la Maison de la Culture, le Côte de Neige.

Nous étions en train de faire un projet.

We were working on a project.

Mais derrière ce rendez-vous pour organiser ce projet,

je pense que nous avons tous eu un nom.

I think we all had a name.

Et l'objectif était de trouver une voix dans la scène de l'art visuel du Québec.

And the goal was to find a voice in the visual art scene of Quebec.

Et je pense que nous étions un peu...

pas satisfaits de la façon dont nous pouvions être représentés

dans la communauté de la scène de l'art du Québec à l'époque.

Mais je pense que c'est une des discussions que nous avons eues.

comment nous avons pu naviguer dans la scène de l'art à ce moment-là.

Je pense qu'il y avait plusieurs intérêts différents,

mais aussi beaucoup d'intérêts communs qui nous ont mis ensemble.

but also many common interests that brought us together.

Et oui, je pense que l'un d'entre eux était cette idée de visibilité,

And yes, I think one of them was this idea of visibility,

de représentation ou d'inclusivité.

Je pense que nous pouvons parler de la dynamique ou de l'intérêt

Et pour beaucoup d'entre nous, au moins pour moi en tant qu'immigrant,

c'était très important de trouver un groupe de personnes

avec qui je pouvais partager non seulement des intérêts artistiques,

with whom I could share not only artistic interests,

mais aussi des expériences de vie qui touchent très souvent les uns les autres.

but also life experiences that often affect each other.

Et je pense que nous avons trouvé un bon moyen de faire ça,

And I think we have found a good way to do this,

de ramener ensemble qui nous sommes en tant que personnes,

to bring together who we are as individuals,

en tant qu'artistes, en tant que médiateurs d'art.

As artists, as art mediators.

Et je pense que c'est quelque chose que nous essayons tous de garder,

And I think it's something we all try to hold on to,

et peut-être aussi de commencer à partager avec d'autres communautés,

and perhaps also to start sharing with other communities,

avec d'autres personnes.

Oui, je me souviens que le premier projet auquel nous avons travaillé ensemble,

je veux dire, le premier projet pour appliquer à la culture de la maison d'art,

pour célébrer la Fondation 375e Anniversaire de Montréal.

to celebrate the 375th Anniversary Foundation of Montreal.

Puis on s'est pris vraiment à l'avance,

Then we really took it in advance,

et puis on a réfléchi, on a fait une présentation,

and then we thought about it, we made a presentation,

on a fait de la recherche.

We did some research.

Je ne sais pas si tu te rappelles, Maria,

I don't know if you remember, Maria,

on avait fait une présentation publique.

We had done a public presentation.

C'était assez « work in one » notre affaire.

It was quite a "work in one" our business.

Et on a donné plein d'idées à cette communauté,

And we gave plenty of ideas to this community,

au centre culturel de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce,

at the cultural center of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce,

parce que personne ne réfléchissait à ça.

because no one was thinking about that.

Personne ne réfléchissait encore à cette notion

No one was yet thinking about this notion.

de travailler avec des groupes communautaires

dans ce quartier.

Puis la notion de mettre en relation

Then the concept of establishing a connection.

Quand on travaille sur le premier projet

on apprenait à se connaître l'un l'autre,

we were getting to know each other,

et je pense qu'on a eu beaucoup de plaisir

à travers cette aventure,

through this adventure,

parce que c'est vraiment,

because it really is,

ce fut une aventure d'essayer de mettre en place ce projet-là.

It was an adventure trying to set up that project.

Et le plaisir qu'on a eu nous a donné vraiment un élan

And the pleasure we had really gave us a boost.

pour continuer à faire d'autres projets jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

to continue doing other projects up to today.

Et aussi, je pense que c'est difficile,

aujourd'hui, quand on est artiste,

s'il n'y a pas un produit spécifique,

Et je pense que beaucoup du travail

Et puis nous sommes devenus comme une étude de cas,

ils continuaient de faire ces exhibitions sur la rue,

Parce que nous ne voulions pas rester là

Because we didn't want to stay there.

et ne faire rien à cause de la pandémie.

Donc, je pense que pour moi,

cette expérience avec Articule,

this experience with Articule,

c'est un témoignage de résilience, vous savez.

It's a testimony of resilience, you know.

Résistance et résilience.

Resistance and resilience.

Et pour moi, le groupe est à propos de ça.

And for me, the group is about that.

C'est à propos de résister, vous savez.

It's about resisting, you know.

Résister à la statu quo,

To resist the status quo,

résister à la façon dont les choses sont faites,

resisting the way things are done,

et proposer d'autres façons de faire des choses,

and suggest other ways of doing things,

de faire de l'art,

to create art,

d'être en tant que collectif

to be as a collective

et dans le domaine public.

and in the public domain.
