Denn ich liebe die Summer Celebrations. Das ist schon ein paar Wochen jetzt rum, weil das ist so eine Zeit, wo man einfach über das sprechen kann, was dem einen oder anderen gerade einfach so auf der Seele ist.

Because I love the Summer Celebrations. It's been a few weeks now, because it's a time when you can simply talk about what is weighing on someone's mind.

Und ich darf heute mit meiner geschätzten Kollegin Caro Bullinger predigen. Die ist allerdings schon auf dem Summer Camp.

And today I get to preach with my esteemed colleague Caro Bullinger. However, she is already at the Summer Camp.

Deswegen haben wir sie vorproduziert mit einem Video und wir sprechen heute Abend über das Thema Rhythmus.

That's why we pre-produced it with a video, and we're talking about the topic of rhythm this evening.

Rhythmus. Irgendjemand so in rhythmischer Stimmung heute Abend? Ich muss ja wirklich sagen, ich möchte euch erstmal ein Lob aussprechen.

Rhythm. Is anyone in a rhythmic mood tonight? I really have to say, I want to give you all some praise first.

Also wer bei diesen Temperaturen sagt, ich gehe jetzt in den Abendgottesdienst oder ich schalte mein Endgerät an, vielleicht so am See, du hast das wahrscheinlich am cleversten gemacht,

So anyone who says in these temperatures, I'm going to the evening service now or I'm turning on my device, maybe at the lake, you probably did it the smartest way.

der hat wirklich Bock, heute Abend Gott zu begegnen oder du bist richtig am Ende.

He really wants to meet God tonight, or you're completely at your wit's end.

Oder du, keine Ahnung, aber was auch immer dich heute Abend hierher gibt.

Or you, no idea, but whatever brings you here tonight.

Guck mal, ich sehe schon Leute, die sind schon das zweite Mal hier. Das ist Wahnsinn. Das ist crazy.

Look, I can already see people who are here for the second time. That's crazy.

Ich möchte es kurz wertschätzen. In der Bibel lesen wir viel über Bitten und Empfangen.

I would like to take a moment to appreciate it. In the Bible, we read a lot about asking and receiving.

Und da, wo du bittest, da ist Gott treu und gibt es auch.

And where you ask, there God is faithful and grants it as well.

Und dein Hunger ist immer wieder das Tor für das Tun und Wirken von Gottes in deinem Leben.

And your hunger is always the gateway for God's actions and workings in your life.

Ich möchte dir kurz einfach Mut machen und Danke sagen, dass du da bist. Es ist immer schön, wenn Leute hier sind.

I just want to encourage you briefly and say thank you for being here. It's always nice when people are around.

Rhythmus.

Rhythm.

Und feiert hier ein Fest. Was ist das? Egal. Partystimmung. Rhythmus. Wo war ich stehen geblieben? Rhythmus.

And here there is a celebration. What is this? Doesn't matter. Party mood. Rhythm. Where was I? Rhythm.

Hast du dir mal überlegt, wie dein Leben gerade klingt?

Have you ever considered what your life sounds like right now?

Wenn dein Leben gerade einen Song hätte, der genau in deine Lebensrealität gerade passt, in deine emotionale Lage, was wäre das für ein Song?

If your life had a song right now that perfectly fits your reality and emotional state, what would that song be?

Wie würde der klingen? Hast du mal drüber nachgedacht, wie klingt gerade dein Leben?

How would that sound? Have you ever thought about what your life sounds like right now?

Gospel. Gospel. Ja, ist das jemand? Ja, cool. Mega gut.

Gospel. Gospel. Yes, is that someone? Yes, cool. Really good.

Ja, das hätte ich mit, das wäre so mein erster, mein erster, so ist es Anfang September, so irgendwie, es ist schönes Wetter, so ein leichter Sommerhit oder einfach so ein bisschen Praise Party, so wie wir es gerade gemacht haben.

Yes, I would take that with me, that would be my first, my first, it's the beginning of September, somehow, it's nice weather, a light summer hit or just a bit of a praise party, like we just did.

Vielleicht bist du optimistisch, gut gelaunt, deine Playlist hat einfach so Sommerhits gerade am Start.

Maybe you are optimistic, in a good mood, and your playlist just happens to have summer hits right now.

Vielleicht kommst du auch gerade aus dem Urlaub, warst auf dem Malle und bist noch so richtig in Partylaune. Das kann auch passieren, soll es ja geben.

Maybe you just got back from vacation, were in Mallorca, and are still in the mood to party. That can happen, it's quite common.

Keine Ahnung, vielleicht bist du auch so mega nachdenklich.

No idea, maybe you're just super thoughtful too.

Du denkst so crazy, 1. September und wo ist eigentlich das Jahr hin und was kommt jetzt eigentlich alles noch?

You think so crazy, September 1st and where has the year actually gone and what is still to come?

Keine Ahnung, wo du gerade stehst, aber das Coole an Musik ist, dass sie eine momentane Emotion aufgreift und uns darin begegnet.

I have no idea where you are right now, but the cool thing about music is that it captures a current emotion and meets us in it.

Also sie schafft einen Rahmen für unser emotionales Erleben und das ist mega schön.

So it creates a framework for our emotional experience, and that's really beautiful.

Das kann aber auch ein bisschen gefährlich sein, weil wenn du heute hier sitzt und sagst, hey, ich habe komplett den Blues, mir geht es echt, ich bin traurig, ich habe vielleicht was Schlimmes erlebt oder so.

But that can also be a bit dangerous, because if you sit here today and say, hey, I'm completely down, I'm really feeling sad, maybe I've experienced something terrible or something like that.

Und dann legst du eine Playlist ein.

And then you put on a playlist.

Die das noch verstärkt, kann dein Leben sich auch in so einen richtigen Abwärtstrend begeben.

That can further intensify, and your life can also go into a real downward trend.

Also wer von euch Blues hört, das ist schon immer so ein bisschen so sehr, sehr melancholisch.

So, for those of you who listen to blues, it has always been a bit very, very melancholic.

Es gibt auch so mega melancholischen Pop.

There is also incredibly melancholic pop.

Vielleicht kennt ihr noch diese Emo-Welle, so in den 2000ern, 90ern, da seid ihr zu jung für.

Maybe you still remember that emo wave, like in the 2000s, 90s, but you're too young for that.

Aber es gibt eben auch Soundtracks in deinem Leben, die dazu führen, dass deine emotionale Lage eher runtergezogen wird.

But there are also soundtracks in your life that tend to pull your emotional state down.

Und dann brauchst du die zweite Funktion von Musik, etwas, was dich pusht.

And then you need the second function of music, something that pushes you.

Also wenn du zum Beispiel ins Fitnessstudio gehst, also ins Fitti, habe ich mir sagen lassen, sagen die jungen Leute,

So, for example, when you go to the gym, I’ve heard the young people say,

dann brauchst du eine Playlist, die dich auch in die Lage versetzt, jetzt irgendwie Gewichte zu heben oder irgendwas Aktives zu machen.

Then you need a playlist that also enables you to lift weights or do something active right now.

Also du wirst kaum Johann Sebastian Bach einlegen, wenn du jetzt trainieren oder pumpen gehst.

Well, you're hardly going to put on Johann Sebastian Bach when you go train or pump now.

Das glaube ich einfach nicht.

I simply don't believe that.

Sondern dann nimmst du etwas Upbeat-mäßiges und das führt uns zur zweiten Frage.

But then you take something upbeat, and that leads us to the second question.

Wenn du einen neuen Song für dein Leben schreiben könntest, einen neuen Klang entwickeln könntest für dein Leben, wie würde der klingen?

If you could write a new song for your life, develop a new sound for your life, what would it sound like?

Wie wäre der strukturiert und welche Aussage hätte das?

How would it be structured and what statement would it have?

Und wir wollen dir heute von einem Gott erzählen, dem dein Klang, dem dein Leben nicht egal ist,

And we want to tell you today about a God who cares about your sound, about your life.

sondern der dich einladen möchte, einen neuen Klang zu erleben, einen neuen Sound, ein neues Lied zu singen für dein Leben.

but rather to invite you to experience a new sound, a new tone, to sing a new song for your life.

Weil wir glauben, dass dieser Gott gut ist und dass er hört, was in deinem Leben gerade passiert.

Because we believe that this God is good and that he hears what is happening in your life right now.

Ist dir das bewusst, dass Gott dich hört, dass er den Klang deines Lebens hört, dass er ihn sogar versteht

Are you aware that God hears you, that he hears the sound of your life, that he even understands it?

und dass er dir in deinem momentanen Sound begegnen möchte?

and that he wants to meet you in your current sound?

Und dass er nicht nur dich da irgendwie durchtragen möchte, sondern dass er mit dir gemeinsam ein neues Lied schreiben möchte.

And that he not only wants to somehow carry you through, but that he wants to write a new song together with you.

Und um dieses neue Lied soll es gehen und deswegen kommt jetzt so ein kleiner Songwriting-Workshop.

And this new song is what it's about, and that's why there will be a little songwriting workshop now.

Vielleicht schreibst du selber Lieder.

Maybe you write songs yourself.

Wir sind gerade dabei, ein paar Songs zu veröffentlichen.

We are currently in the process of releasing a few songs.

Im Oktober ist es soweit und das kann ich dir sagen, das ist einfach immer eine spannende Reise.

In October, it will be here, and I can tell you, it is always an exciting journey.

Und ich nehme dich mal mit auf diese Reise.

And I will take you along on this journey.

Wie schreibt man eigentlich einen neuen Song?

How do you actually write a new song?

Das Erste, was du brauchst, wenn du was Neues schreibst, ist überhaupt erstmal ein Inhalt.

The first thing you need when you're writing something new is, first of all, some content.

Macht Sinn, oder?

Makes sense, right?

Also etwas, wovon du begeistert bist.

So something that you are excited about.

Dein Erlebnis, deine Geschichte, vielleicht deine Emotion, die du in einen Song verpacken möchtest.

Your experience, your story, perhaps your emotion that you want to pack into a song.

Das ist nämlich das, was gute Songs machen.

That's exactly what good songs do.

Sie verpacken ein Erlebnis oder eine Emotion, die spürbar wird für uns.

They package an experience or an emotion that becomes palpable for us.

Wo wir merken, hey, der Autor hat wirklich etwas erlebt und darin kann ich mich irgendwie wiederfinden.

Where we notice, hey, the author has really experienced something and I can somehow relate to that.

Und wir haben in der Bibel so eine ganze Sammlung von Songs.

And we have a whole collection of songs in the Bible.

Es gibt nämlich einen Songwriter in der Bibel, der schon über 2.000, 3.000 Jahre mega erfolgreich ist.

There is actually a songwriter in the Bible who has been mega successful for over 2,000, 3,000 years.

Und das ist King D.

And this is King D.

Also König D.

Also King D.

David ist sein Künstlername.

David is his stage name.

Ich habe den mal einfach so genannt.

I just named it like that.

Und wir singen heute noch und lesen heute noch seine Songtexte, weil er jemand war, der sein Erlebnis verpackt hat in Gebete und in Lieder, die immer noch resonieren in uns.

And we still sing today and read his lyrics today, because he was someone who packaged his experience in prayers and songs that still resonate within us.

Und ich habe dir einen mitgebracht aus Psalm 40.

And I brought you one from Psalm 40.

Da heißt es, beharrlich habe ich auf den Herrn gehofft.

It says, I have patiently hoped in the Lord.

Da wendete er sich mir zu und er hörte mein Schreien.

Then he turned to me and heard my crying.

Er zog mich aus der Grube, die mein Ende bedeutet hätte.

He pulled me out of the pit that would have meant my end.

Aus Schlamm und Morast.

From mud and mire.

Er stellte meine Füße auf festen Grund und gab meinen Schritten sicheren Halt.

He set my feet on solid ground and gave my steps secure footing.

Ein neues Lied hat er mir geschenkt, lässt mich ein Lobgesang anstimmen auf ihn, unseren Gott.

He has given me a new song, making me sing a hymn of praise to him, our God.

Viele Menschen werden sehen, was er für mich getan hat.

Many people will see what he has done for me.

Dann werden sie dem Herrn voll Ehrfurcht vertrauen.

Then they will trust the Lord with full reverence.

Und das ist genau das, was ich gesagt habe.

And that is exactly what I said.

David hat etwas erlebt und drückt es aus.

David has experienced something and expresses it.

Eine Grube aus Schlamm und Morast.

A pit of mud and mire.

Da müssen wir kurz innehalten, was heißt das.

We need to pause for a moment, what does that mean?

Das ist eine Metapher.

That is a metaphor.

Tatsächlich war David an einer Stelle in seinem Leben so tief unten,

Indeed, at one point in his life, David was so far down,

dass er sich vor jemandem verstecken musste, vor seinen Feinden verstecken musste,

that he had to hide from someone, had to hide from his enemies,

dass er in einer Höhle gelandet ist, in die andere nur gingen, um ihr Geschäft zu verrichten.

that he ended up in a cave where others only went to do their business.

Das ist keine Metapher.

That is not a metaphor.

Das ist eher noch ein Euphemismus.

That's more of an understatement.

Er war so weit unten, du kannst es nachlesen im ersten Teil der Bibel,

He was so far down, you can read about it in the first part of the Bible.

er war so weit unten, dass er wirklich Gott gebeten hat.

He was so far down that he really begged God.

Und das ist das Schöne, Gott begegnet dir genau dort, wo du gerade bist.

And that is the beauty, God meets you right where you are.

Ich weiß nicht, wie deine Grube gerade aussieht, wie dein Schlamm, wie dein Morast aussieht,

I don't know what your pit looks like right now, what your mud looks like, what your mire looks like,

den du vielleicht mit dir rumträgst, aber Gott ist dort.

that you might be carrying around with you, but God is there.

Und das Krasse ist an diesem Songschreiber, an David, dass er die Hoffnung in dem ganzen Psalm nicht verliert.

And the amazing thing about this songwriter, David, is that he doesn't lose hope throughout the entire Psalm.

Er sagt, ich habe beharrlich, also ich habe anhaltend auf Gott gehofft und dann hat er mich gerettet.

He says, I have persistently, thus I have continually hoped in God and then He rescued me.

Und das ist tatsächlich auch der Klang der Bibel.

And that is indeed the sound of the Bible.

Der Klang der Bibel ist ein Lied der Rettung.

The sound of the Bible is a song of salvation.

Ein Lied, das davon erzählt, immer wieder, dass Gott rettet, dass Gott eingreift, dass Gott reinkommt.

A song that tells over and over again that God saves, that God intervenes, that God comes in.

Die ganze Bibel hinweg zieht sich das durch.

This runs throughout the entire Bible.

Und wenn du glaubst, Gott interessiert sich nicht für dich, möchte ich dir was anderes erzählen heute Abend.

And if you think God doesn't care about you, I would like to tell you something different this evening.

Gott ist für dich.

God is with you.

Er hat ein neues Lied der Hoffnung, ein neues Lied der Perspektive für dich.

He has a new song of hope, a new song of perspective for you.

Und er geht sogar noch weiter.

And he goes even further.

Er sagt aber, dieses neue Lied soll andere inspirieren und andere anstiften zu einer neuen Hoffnung, zu einer neuen Perspektive.

He says, however, that this new song is meant to inspire others and incite them to a new hope, to a new perspective.

Stell dir mal vor, das wäre der Inhalt deines Lebens.

Imagine that this is the content of your life.

Stell dir mal vor, danach würde dein Leben klingen.

Just imagine, that's how your life would sound afterwards.

Nach Hoffnung, nach Perspektive, nach Zuversicht.

After hope, after perspective, after confidence.

Ich glaube, es wäre ein Hit.

I believe it would be a hit.

Ich glaube nämlich, dass die Welt es gerade braucht.

I believe that the world needs it right now.

Und bevor wir weitergehen, möchte ich das erstmal nach ganz oben stellen.

And before we continue, I would like to put this at the very top first.

Gott möchte mit dir ein neues Lied schreiben, weil er ein Gott der Rettung ist und ein Gott der Hoffnung ist.

God wants to write a new song with you because He is a God of salvation and a God of hope.

Und ich weiß nicht, ob du das schon glauben kannst, aber ich lade dich ein, dich mal auf den Weg zu machen, diesen Gott kennenzulernen.

And I don't know if you can believe this yet, but I invite you to set off on a journey to get to know this God.

Weil dieser Gott nämlich nicht nur über Rettung schreibt, sondern er ist selbst aufgetreten als Retter.

Because this God not only writes about salvation, but He has also come forward as the Savior Himself.

Jesus ist auf diese Welt gekommen, um dir deine Schuld zu vergeben.

Jesus came into this world to forgive you your sins.

Er ist ans Kreuz gegangen, um wirklich sein Leben hinzugeben für dich, um dich zu retten.

He went to the cross to truly give his life for you, to save you.

Damit du Freiheit erleben kannst, dass du Frieden erleben kannst.

So that you can experience freedom, so that you can experience peace.

Das ist unser Gott, von dem wir singen, von dem wir sprechen.

This is our God, of whom we sing, of whom we speak.

Und dieser Gott möchte mit dir ein neues Lied schreiben.

And this God wants to write a new song with you.

Ein Lied der Hoffnung, das andere inspiriert.

A song of hope that inspires others.

Das kannst du mal sacken lassen und kannst mir überlegen, ob dein Leben danach klingt.

You can let that sink in and think about whether your life sounds like that.

Klingt dein Leben nach Hoffnung?

Does your life sound like hope?

Und wenn ja, dann bleib da drin und inspiriere andere.

And if so, then stay in there and inspire others.

Und wenn nicht, dann mach ich dir Mut.

And if not, then I'll encourage you.

Es ist noch nicht die letzte Strophe in deinem Lied.

It is not yet the last verse in your song.

Sondern Gott schreibt mit dir weiter und er schreibt mit dir neu.

But God continues to write with you and He writes anew with you.

Aber das Zweite, was wir brauchen beim Songwriting, ist dann irgendwann Rhythmus.

But the second thing we need in songwriting is rhythm at some point.

Rhythmus ist nämlich das, was dein Inhalt und was deine Melodien trägt, damit andere mit einsteigen können.

Rhythm is indeed what carries your content and your melodies, so that others can join in.

Du kannst die besten Zeilen schreiben, die schönsten Melodien entwickeln.

You can write the best lines and create the most beautiful melodies.

Am Ende trägt dein Lied der Rhythmus.

In the end, your song is carried by the rhythm.

Und wenn du es überträgst auf dein Leben, kannst du sagen, so wie der Rhythmus einen Song trägt,

And if you transfer it to your life, you can say, just as the rhythm carries a song,

bestimmt auch dein Rhythmus, dein Leben und den Klang, den dein Leben entfaltet.

certainly also your rhythm, your life, and the sound that your life unfolds.

Kein Mensch will ja, dass sein Leben gehetzt oder sorgenvoll klingt, oder?

No one wants their life to sound hurried or full of worries, right?

Kennst du irgendjemanden, der sagt, ich liebe das, wenn ich morgen aufwache und direkt so die Sorgen und diese Gedanken,

Do you know anyone who says, I love it when I wake up tomorrow and immediately have those worries and thoughts?

du schaffst das nicht, du kannst das nicht, dass sie direkt so reinballern, so direkt so ein innerer Antreiber.

You can't do it, you can't handle it, that they just go for it like that, so directly, it's like an inner drive.

Das will ja niemand.

Nobody wants that.

Oder dass die Ängste kommen.

Or that the fears come.

Und es ist ja sehr klar eigentlich, dass wir das eigentlich nicht wollen.

And it is quite clear, actually, that we don't really want that.

Warum klingt unser Leben dann trotzdem so oft danach?

Why does our life still often sound like that?

Könnte es sein, dass unser Leben nicht den Klang entfaltet, den es eigentlich entfalten könnte,

Could it be that our lives do not unfold the sound that they could actually unfold,

weil wir aus dem Takt gekommen sind, weil unser Leben keinen Rhythmus hat, der unser Leben, der unser Lied trägt?

because we have fallen out of step, because our life has no rhythm that carries our life, that carries our song?

Und ich glaube, dass es auch so eine Zeitgeistgeschichte ist, dass wir so frei sind in unseren Entscheidungen,

And I believe that it is also a reflection of the spirit of the times that we are so free in our choices,

dass wir alles auf jedem Instrument rumhauen können und alles machen können und vergessen haben,

that we can jam on every instrument and do everything and have forgotten,

dass wir eigentlich ein Tempo brauchen, dass wir eine Taktart brauchen und dass wir gewisse Betonungen brauchen in unserem Leben.

that we actually need a tempo, that we need a time signature, and that we need certain emphases in our lives.

Und dabei gibt es einen Erfinder des Lebens, der von Anfang an einen Rhythmus in diese Welt gelegt hat.

And there is a creator of life who has placed a rhythm into this world from the very beginning.

Ist dir mal aufgefallen, dass es Tag und Nacht gibt?

Have you ever noticed that there is day and night?

Dass Gott die Welt geschaffen hat in Tag und Nacht, in Zeiten der Samen.

That God created the world in day and night, in times of seeds.

In Zeiten der Ernte, in Zeiten des Ruhens im Winter, Zeiten des Wachsens im Frühling.

In times of harvest, in times of resting in winter, times of growing in spring.

Die Welt ist voller Rhythmus.

The world is full of rhythm.

Gott ist ein Gott des Rhythmus.

God is a God of rhythm.

Er ist ein Gott der wiederkehrenden Muster.

He is a god of recurring patterns.

Es gibt Zeiten der Arbeit, es gibt Zeit der Ruhe.

There are times for work, there are times for rest.

Und dieser Gott möchte mit dir gemeinsam einen Rhythmus entwickeln, der trägt.

And this God wants to develop a rhythm with you that supports you.

Und deswegen stellen wir uns mal die Frage, wie entsteht eigentlich Rhythmus?

And that's why we ask ourselves the question, how does rhythm actually arise?

Hast du Lust auf ein bisschen Musiktheorie am Abend?

Are you in the mood for some music theory in the evening?

Yes, let's go!

Yes, let's go!

Drei Dinge braucht es für Rhythmus.

Three things are needed for rhythm.

Es braucht Puls und Tempo, Metrum und Taktart und dann braucht es Notenwerte.

It requires pulse and tempo, meter and time signature, and then it needs note values.

Dinge, die du betonst, wo du Betonungen legst und die du dann füllst.

Things that you emphasize, where you place emphasis, and that you then fill.

Und wir gehen das mal durch und fragen uns mal, was bedeutet das eigentlich für unser Leben?

And let's go through this and ask ourselves, what does it actually mean for our lives?

Beziehungsweise, ich möchte erstmal mal kurz...

In other words, I would like to briefly...

Ist das so typisch?

Is that so typical?

Das ist so ein Fachidiot hier am Erzählen.

This is such a subject expert talking here.

Ja, das sind jetzt die Sachen, die Rhythmus bringen.

Yes, these are now the things that bring rhythm.

Aber ich muss euch kurz das noch ein bisschen erläutern, weil sonst denkst du ja, Puls und Tempo, was soll das denn sein?

But I need to explain this to you a little bit more, because otherwise you might think, pulse and tempo, what is that supposed to be?

Wenn ich jetzt sage, King D hat krasse Psalmen geschrieben, dann gab es auch einen King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

If I say now that King D wrote amazing psalms, there was also a King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Und wenn ich jetzt sage, Billie Jean, kommt dir wahrscheinlich ein Song in den Kopf.

And if I say Billie Jean now, a song probably comes to your mind.

Oder? Billie Jean, kennt das noch jemand?

Or? Billie Jean, does anyone still know that?

Also tut man nicht so, ihr kennt den alle.

So you don't do that, you all know him.

Das heißt, wenn du an diesen Puls und an diesen Vibe denkst, diese Songs,

That means, when you think of this pulse and this vibe, these songs,

dann wüsstet ihr eigentlich...

then you would actually know...

Und was wäre, was würde das für unseren Klang bedeuten

And what would that mean for our sound?

in unserem Leben, wenn wir das zulassen würden?

in our lives, if we would allow that?

Das Zweite, Metrum und Taktart.

The second, meter and time signature.

Denn hier geht es darum, also bei dem Tempo-Ding

Immer wieder zu fragen, Gott, was ist eigentlich das Tempo gerade?

Aber Gott geht sogar noch weiter.

He gives you a rhythm for your life.

Und ich nenne das den Sechs-Siebtel-Takt.

And I call that the six-sevenths rhythm.

Geht mal mit mir zu 1. Mose 2, Vers 2.

Let's go to Genesis 2, verse 2.

So waren nun Himmel und Erde erschaffen mit allem, was dazugehört.

Thus the heaven and the earth were created with all that belongs to them.

Am siebten Tag hatte Gott sein Werk vollendet.

On the seventh day, God had completed His work.

Und ruhte von seiner Arbeit.

And rested from his work.

Darum segnete er den siebten Tag und sagte,

Therefore he blessed the seventh day and said,

dies ist ein ganz besonderer, heiliger Tag.

This is a very special, holy day.

Er gehört mir.

He belongs to me.

Und wir lesen dann sogar in den Zehn Geboten,

And we even read in the Ten Commandments,

Have you ever heard of the Ten Commandments?

So, du sollst nicht töten, du sollst nicht stehlen.

So, you shall not kill, you shall not steal.

Das sind so Sachen, die eigentlich common sense sind.

Die sind allgemein gültig.

They are generally valid.

Also ich würde sagen, da stimmen wir alle miteinander ein.

Well, I would say we all agree on that.

Aber an einer Stelle heißt es auch,

du sollst den Sechsten Tag, den siebten Tag,

you shall observe the sixth day, the seventh day,

den Sabbat als einen Tag, der mir allein geweiht ist, bedenken.

consider the Sabbath as a day that is dedicated solely to me.

Sechs Tage sollst du deine Arbeit verrichten,

Six days you shall do your work,

aber der siebte Tag ist ein Ruhetag,

Denn in sechs Tagen habe ich, der Herr, den Himmel, die Erde

Aber am siebten Tag ruhte ich.

Aber ich bin mal in meinem Leben an einem Punkt gekommen,

wo ich gemerkt habe, hey, mein Leben klingt mega anstrengend.

Where I realized, hey, my life sounds super exhausting.

Und das war so die Mitte, Ende Zwanziger, wo alles zusammenkam.

And that was around the mid to late twenties, when everything came together.

Studium, Abschluss, neuer Job.

Studies, graduation, new job.

Ich habe dann noch freiberuflich gearbeitet als Produzent.

I then worked freelance as a producer.

Das heißt, viele verschiedene Projekte.

That means many different projects.

Und ich war irgendwann in so einem Rhythmus,

And at some point, I was in such a rhythm,

der einfach nur weiter ging.

that simply kept going.

Und es hat sich immer, immer schneller gedreht.

And it has always, always spun faster.

Und dann bin ich an einen Punkt gekommen,

And then I reached a point where

wo ich gemerkt habe, ich arbeite komplett an einem Stück

where I noticed that I am working completely at a stretch

und ich lebe nicht in der Ordnung Gottes.

And I do not live in the order of God.

Es war mir völlig klar, dass ich nicht töten soll.

It was clear to me that I should not kill.

Aber so dieses Gebot, du sollst den Sabbat ehren,

But this commandment, you shall honor the Sabbath,

habe ich nie drüber nachgedacht.

I never thought about it.

Sabbat war für mich, na ja, Sonntag gehst du halt in die Kirche

Sabbath was for me, well, on Sunday you just go to church.

und dann gehst du halt nicht zur Arbeit.

And then you just don't go to work.

Aber auf einmal war ich in der Kirche angestellt

But suddenly I was employed in the church.

und da war das für mich auch noch Arbeit.

And that was still work for me.

Und dann war einfach mein Leben komplett aus dem Rhythmus geraten.

And then my life had completely fallen out of rhythm.

Stop, rest, enjoy, and reflect.

Sabbat bedeutet nicht nur einfach in den Tag reinlegen,

Sabbath does not just mean simply lounging around all day,

sondern Sabbat bedeutet etwas füllen mit Wertvollen,

but Sabbath means filling something with valuable things,

einen Tag rauszunehmen, den du füllst.

to take a day off that you fill.

Bei mir ist es der Montag, weil ich sonntags arbeite.

For me, it's Monday because I work on Sundays.

Und meine Frau und ich, meine Frau Kathi und ich,

And my wife and I, my wife Kathi and I,

wir haben so ein paar Rituale.

We have a few rituals like that.

Und ich nehme euch mal mit rein in unseren Sabbat.

And I'll take you along into our Sabbath.

Anhalten bedeutet für uns 24 Stunden ohne Arbeit.

Stopping means for us 24 hours without work.

Das bedeutet jetzt heute Abend nach dem Abendgottesdienst

That means now this evening after the evening service.

gehe ich nach Hause und mache mein Handy aus.

I go home and turn off my phone.

Und dann essen wir nett, starten mit einem Gebet,

And then we eat nicely, starting with a prayer,

starten rein und kommen erst mal an.

Start off clean and first of all, arrive.

Machen uns bewusst.

Make ourselves aware.

Dass die Welt sich auch ohne uns weiterdrehen wird.

That the world will continue to turn even without us.

Mein Handy, wenn ich diszipliniert bin, kommt in so eine Schublade.

My phone, when I am disciplined, goes into such a drawer.

Da hole ich es nur raus, wenn ich es dann wieder brauche.

I only take it out when I need it again.

Weil ich einfach sage, Leute, ganz ehrlich,

Because I simply say, people, to be honest,

ich bin nicht der Mittelpunkt der Welt.

I am not the center of the world.

Und falls du das dachtest, es ist nicht so.

Wir bereiten Essen vor, was uns guttut,

We prepare food that is good for us,

wo wir vielleicht auch mal weggehen, wo wir wandern gehen.

where we might go out sometimes, where we go hiking.

Wir haben so einen Camper, wo wir dann auch manchmal

We have a camper like that, where we sometimes...

einen Kaffee in der Natur draußen trinken.

to drink a coffee outside in nature.

Einfach Dinge, die unser Leben und unserer Seele guttun.

Simply things that do good for our life and soul.

Und wir reflektieren.

And we reflect.

Wir machen uns darüber Gedanken,

We are thinking about it,

wenn unser Leben gerade so, wie es ist, immer weiterlaufen würde,

if our life were to continue just as it is,

würden wir dieses Leben in drei Jahren noch gerne leben?

Would we still like to live this life in three years?

Und das sind so ganz menschliche Fragen, die man sich stellen kann.

And those are very human questions that one can ask oneself.

Sind wir dankbar? Für was sind wir dankbar?

Are we grateful? What are we grateful for?

Wo brauchen wir einander? Wo sind wir auch verletzt voneinander?

Where do we need each other? Where are we also hurt by each other?

Wo müssen wir Dinge klären?

Where do we need to clarify things?

Und dann nehmen wir Gott mit ins Spiel und fragen Gott,

And then we bring God into the game and ask God,

hey, was möchtest du gerade sagen?

Hey, what do you want to say right now?

Wir versuchen still zu sein, anzukommen, anzuhalten und zu sagen,

We try to be silent, to arrive, to stop and to say,

Gott, was möchtest du gerade uns auch korrigieren?

God, what would you like to correct us on right now?

Wo möchtest du gerade uns neu füllen?

Where would you like to refill us right now?

Und nach sieben Jahren, wo ich das mache, muss ich sagen,

And after seven years of doing this, I have to say,

mein Leben hat sich insofern total verändert,

my life has totally changed in that respect,

dass ich nicht mehr von Phase zu Phase leben muss.

that I no longer have to live from phase to phase.

Und das ist, kennt ihr das? Es gibt die eine Phase, eine Deadline,

And that is, do you know that? There is that one phase, a deadline,

oder irgendwas, worauf man hin muss.

or anything you have to aim for.

Und dann setzt du alles daran, und dann kommen zwei ruhige Wochen,

And then you put everything into it, and then two quiet weeks come,

dann beginnt die nächste Phase.

Then the next phase begins.

Und ich habe irgendwann gemerkt, je älter ich werde,

And at some point, I realized that the older I get,

und ich habe ja noch nicht mal Kinder, also wenn du Kids hast,

and I don't even have kids yet, so if you have kids,

so was ganz anderes, aber auch wenn du Single bist,

something completely different, but even if you are single,

musst du sagen, das Leben besteht irgendwann immer wieder aus Phasen.

You have to say, life always consists of phases at some point.

Das und das und das und das.

That and that and that and that.

Und irgendwann bist du in so einem Strudel,

And at some point, you find yourself in such a whirlpool,

und Gott lädt dich ein, diese Phasen zu durchbrechen,

and God invites you to break through these phases,

indem du regelmäßig einen Tag innehältst.

Und sagst, diesen Tag, den gebe ich Gott,

And you say, this day, I give to God,

und ich gebe diesen Tag Gott.

and I give this day to God.

Ich gebe Gott Raum, in meinem Leben zu sprechen.

I give God space to speak in my life.

Und deine Lebensrealität ist eine andere als meine.

And your reality of life is different from mine.

Du hast montags nicht frei, wahrscheinlich.

You probably don't have Mondays off.

Dann ist für dich ein anderer Tag.

Then it is another day for you.

Aber manche Leute sind dann auch so ein bisschen kritisch und sagen,

But some people are a bit critical and say,

ja, ihr Großes, das könnt ja nur ihr machen,

Yes, your greatness, only you can do that.

weil Kathi hat auch montags frei.

Ja, aber Kathi, wir haben uns auch dafür entschieden,

Und zwar ist das ein Rhythmus von Stille.

Und da gibt es einige davon, wie er immer wieder in die Stille zurückgeht,

um Zeit mit seinem Vater zu verbringen.

Und eine solche Bibelstelle steht zum Beispiel in Matthäus 14.

Und dann hat man so krasse Ideen und Gott spricht so mega rein.

And then you have such crazy ideas and God speaks in so powerfully.

Und das war dann irgendwie so meine Motivation,

And that was somehow my motivation.

dann wirklich letztendlich mal zu sagen, hey, ich will das auch machen.

then really ultimately to say, hey, I want to do that too.

Und so habe ich seit Anfang des Jahres einmal im Monat

And so I have once a month since the beginning of the year.

einen Tag der Stille in meinen Kalender eingetragen

I have marked a day of silence in my calendar.

und mache immer den letzten Montag im Monat so einen Tag.

and always make one such day on the last Monday of the month.

Und ich habe im Januar angefangen und ich war richtig motiviert.

And I started in January and I was really motivated.

Ich habe so vorbereitet und so, okay, wie kann ich den Tag gestalten?

I have prepared like this and so, okay, how can I shape the day?

Was kann ich da machen?

Ich lag nämlich mit einer fetten Migräne abends im Bett.

I was lying in bed in the evening with a bad migraine.

Ich war richtig ausgelaugt.

I felt completely drained.

Ich dachte irgendwie so noch zum Gebet oder zu der Stille.

I somehow thought more about prayer or silence.

Da fasste ich auch noch, dass so jede geistliche Segnung

Then I also realized that every spiritual blessing

irgendwie auf diesem Tag liegt.

Was mir auch noch hilft, ist, dass ich, bevor ich diesen Tag starte,

Ich komme einfach schon mal in so eine ruhigere, langsamere Atmosphäre.

I just want to get into a calmer, slower atmosphere.

Und es hilft mir dann auch, danach besser in die Stille reinzukommen.

And it helps me to enter the silence better afterwards.

Und ja, genau, so bin ich jetzt auf jeden Fall dran, da was zu entwickeln.

Ich habe verschiedene Dinge ausprobiert,

die irgendwie für mich funktionieren, aber auch nicht funktionieren.

Und was mache ich dann da konkret an so einem Tag?

Da habe ich so als Vorbild für mich ein bisschen den Psalm 95 genommen.

Und da will ich ganz kurz euch mal vorlesen,

Wir ehren ihn mit unseren Liedern.

We honor him with our songs.

Ich fange den Tag der Stille meistens an mit Worship, mit Dank.

I usually start the day of silence with worship and gratitude.

Ich singe Gott Lieder.

I sing songs to God.

Ich ehre ihn.

I honor him.

Ich danke ihm für das, was er tut in meinem Leben.

I thank him for what he does in my life.

Weil ich glaube, dass Dankbarkeit wirklich ein Schlüssel ist,

Because I believe that gratitude is truly a key,

dass unsere Herzen offen sind.

that our hearts are open.

Wenn wir uns auf das konzentrieren, was Gott Gutes tut in unserem Leben,

When we focus on what God is doing good in our lives,

wo er wirkt, wo er einfach Dinge in unserem Leben,

where he works, where he simply does things in our lives,

gelingen lässt, wo wir seine Anwesenheit spüren,

succeeds where we feel his presence,

das öffnet unser Herz und unsere Seele,

that opens our heart and our soul,

wie so für den Geist Gottes noch mal mehr zu empfangen

how to receive even more for the Spirit of God

und noch mal mehr einfach auf Empfang zu sein.

and even more just to be in reception.

Deswegen starte ich den Tag der Stille zuerst mit Worship und Dank.

Therefore, I start the Day of Silence first with worship and gratitude.

Und danach heißt es, kommt, verneigt euch, werft euch nieder,

And then it says, come, bow down, throw yourselves down,

geht auf die Knie und betet ihn an, ihn, den Herrn, unseren Schöpfer.

Ich habe an meinem Tag der Stille immer eine Phase,

wo ich wirklich auf den Knien bin,

und einfach versuche zu hören, ob Gott was sagt,

aber auch erstmal einfach nur zu sein.

Und es war für mich wirklich auch ein Prozess oder ist es auch immer noch,

And it was really a process for me, or it still is.

weil wenn du natürlich dann kniest und still bist,

because if you kneel and are quiet then,

dann kommen so viele Gedanken rein,

then so many thoughts come in,

dann bricht irgendwie erstmal alles so über einen zu.

Then everything kind of crashes down on you all at once.

Und da wirklich zu sagen, nein, ich halte das aus, ich halte das durch

And to really say, no, I can bear this, I can endure this.

und lasse die Gedanken auch wieder ziehen

and let the thoughts pass again

und komme irgendwann an diesen Punkt, wo wirklich Stille da ist.

and eventually reach that point where there is truly silence.

Und das ist wirklich ein Riesenschatz, wenn man das schafft.

And that is truly a huge treasure if you manage to do that.

Aber ja, auch für mich immer noch voll der Prozess,

Sondern ich will lernen, dran zu bleiben.

But I want to learn to stick with it.

Und ich will einfach lernen, was es bedeutet,

And I just want to learn what it means,

in Gottes Gegenwart zu sein, ohne irgendwelche Erwartungen.

to be in God's presence without any expectations.

Und wenn er mir dann was schenkt, dann ist es mega.

And if he gives me something, it's awesome.

Und dann werdet ihr von dieser Predigt-Serie bestimmt auch noch hören,

wenn das irgendwann kommt.

Aber ich will einfach lernen, dass Gott genug ist.

Aber ich will auch dich ermutigen,

wenn du vielleicht gerade kleine Kinder hast,

if you perhaps have small children right now,

wenn du einen stressigen Alltag hast,

when you have a stressful daily routine,

wenn du viel eingespannt bist im Job

when you are very busy with work

oder wenn du vielleicht noch in der Schule bist oder im Studium.

or if you might still be in school or studying.

Ich glaube, dass man einfach nie früh genug damit anfangen kann,

I believe that you can never start too early with it.

solche Dinge in seinem Leben zu kultivieren.

Und ich will dir Mut machen,

die herausfordernd sind,

that are challenging,

die dich challengen,

die dir vielleicht den Boden unter den Füßen wegziehen.

Aber wenn du im Puls und im Rhythmus Gottes bist,

But if you are in the pulse and rhythm of God,

dann fällst du nicht ins Bodenlose,

then you won't fall into the abyss,

sondern du hast Dinge eingeübt, an denen du dich festhalten kannst.

But you have practiced things that you can hold onto.

Und die Frage ist am Ende,

And the question is in the end,

ob du dich dein Leben lang auf deine eigene Kraft verlassen möchtest,

whether you want to rely on your own strength for your entire life,

oder ob du die Hilfe und die Weisung, die Ordnung,

or whether you need the help and the instruction, the order,

die Gott dir geben möchte, annimmst und zulässt,

that God wants to give you, you accept and allow,

dass er dein Leben segnen kann,

that he can bless your life,

dass er einen neuen Klang mit dir entfalten kann.

that he can develop a new sound with you.
