Und für die, die uns zum ersten Mal jetzt hören, das ist sehr gut möglich, die möchten wir nochmal ganz kurz in Abriss geben.

And for those who are hearing us for the first time now, which is very possible, we would like to give a brief overview once again.

Wir beide haben im Januar 2007 mehr oder weniger die Schnapsidee gehabt, einen Krimi zu schreiben und den als Podcast herauszubringen.

In January 2007, the two of us more or less came up with the crazy idea of writing a crime story and releasing it as a podcast.

Und was als Schnapsidee begann, wurde sehr schnell ziemlich konkret. Wir haben ein Drehbuch geschrieben.

And what started as a crazy idea quickly became quite concrete. We wrote a screenplay.

Genau, das Ganze ist ein Hörbuch.

Exactly, the whole thing is an audiobook.

Wir haben also ein Hörspiel-Drehbuch geschrieben, haben alle Rollen selbst gesprochen mit verschiedenen Stimmen, haben das versucht ein bisschen einzufärben, haben alle Geräusche selbst aufgenommen.

So we wrote a radio play script, voiced all the roles ourselves with different voices, tried to add some color to it, and recorded all the sounds ourselves.

Die meisten, die meisten.

The most, the most.

Die meisten, okay, die meisten muss man fairerweise sagen. Haben alles zusammengeschnitten, gemischt und ja, das war natürlich für uns ein ganz neues Ding.

Most, okay, I have to say most of them. Cut everything together, mixed it up, and yes, that was of course something completely new for us.

Der Reiz war da und wir haben da sehr viel Zeit reingesteckt und wäre das nicht sehr spannend, auch für uns im Entwicklungsprozess gewesen,

The attraction was there, and we invested a lot of time into it, and it would have been very exciting for us in the development process as well.

hätten wir das vielleicht nicht gemacht.

maybe we shouldn't have done that.

Auf jeden Fall ist daraus am Ende ein Hörspiel geworden, in 13 Folgen, was wir dann als Podcast veröffentlicht haben.

In any case, it ultimately became a radio play with 13 episodes, which we then published as a podcast.

Richtig, also wir haben halt neun Monate an einem Stück daran gearbeitet und das dann völlig vorproduziert von vorn bis hinten und das Endergebnis dann als Podcast nach und nach ins Netz gestellt.

That's right, we worked on it for nine months straight and completely pre-produced it from start to finish, and then released the final result as a podcast gradually online.

Ja, zu all dem, wir haben damit, ich denke, einigen Erfolg gehabt, mehr oder weniger.

Yes, to all of that, I think we have had some success with it, more or less.

Wir haben wahnsinnig viele E-Mails, Feedback und so weiter bekommen, wo wir uns ganz besonders drüber gefreut haben.

We received an incredible number of emails, feedback, and so on, which we were particularly happy about.

Ja, wir hatten viel Erfolg.

Yes, we had a lot of success.

Wir hatten viele, viele Downloads, Radiointerviews haben wir gegeben, ich glaube drei Stück, waren ganz gut bei Potsdam dabei, hatten viele Abonnenten und ja, haben im Prinzip unsere ganzen Erwartungen übertroffen.

We had many, many downloads, gave radio interviews, I think three of them, were quite successful in Potsdam, had a lot of subscribers and yes, we basically exceeded all our expectations.

Wir waren bei iTunes, waren wir ständig in den Charts gewesen, wir waren auf der Hauptseite gefeatured, wir sind unter den besten Podcasts von 2007 bei iTunes gewesen.

We were on iTunes, we were constantly in the charts, we were featured on the main page, we were among the best podcasts of 2007 on iTunes.

Also sehr viel mehr, als wir überhaupt für möglich gehalten hatten.

So much more than we had ever thought possible.

Deutlich mehr, ja.

Definitely more, yes.

Tja, und ich denke, die, die uns schon vorher gehört haben, die wissen, welcher Name eigentlich.

Well, and I think those who have heard us before know which name it actually is.

Das dem Ganzen zugeordnet war und klar, das ist jetzt sicherlich keine Neuheit.

That was associated with the whole and clearly, this is certainly not new.

Das kann man ja mal sagen, wie hießen, t.a.t.o.r.t.

Ein Podcast-Krimi.

So sieht's aus und klar, so wie sind, das ist völlig egal, wie viel das stand, das kann man nachlesen.

Ja gut, also, ich denke, es würde niemanden groß verwundern, dass man da Ärger kriegt und wir wollen auch gar nicht hier irgendwen uns beschweren.

Das war von vornherein klar, dass das irgendwann kommt.

It was clear from the beginning that this would come eventually.

Freuen tun wir uns nicht.

Wir freuen uns natürlich trotzdem nicht und ja klar, es muss irgendwann passieren und so geschah vor ungefähr einer Woche, bisschen mehr als einer Woche.

Ja, das Problem ist nur, dass ich finde, dass man, wenn man eine Woche Zeit bekommt, um komplett alles runterzunehmen aus dem Netz, ist es ein bisschen wenig.

Und ich finde es auch ein bisschen unfein, sofort mit einem Anwalt zu drohen.

Genau, also eine große Rundfunkanstalt hat uns, die Justizabteilung hat uns eine freundliche Unterlassungserklärung zugeschickt.

Und die Aufforderung sofort alles.

Freundlich ist relativ, wie auch immer.

Friendly is relative, anyway.

Eine Woche war ein bisschen wenig.

A week was a bit too little.

Florian war gerade in Phoenix, da haben sie uns nochmal zwei Werktage mehr gegeben.

Florian was just in Phoenix, and they gave us two more working days.

Ach, wie großzügig, ist auch egal.

Oh, how generous, it doesn't matter anyway.

Jedenfalls haben wir uns entschlossen, dieses Projekt dann nicht weiterzuführen.

In any case, we have decided not to continue with this project.

Wir haben dafür verschiedene Gründe natürlich.

We have various reasons for that, of course.

Und einer davon ist, dass wir uns auf jeden Fall erstmal bewiesen haben, ja für uns.

And one of them is that we have definitely proven ourselves, yes for us.

Genau, wir haben mehr erreicht, als wir wirklich für möglich gehalten haben.

Exactly, we have achieved more than we really thought possible.

Also wie gesagt, wir haben wahnsinnig viel.

So as I said, we have an insane amount.

Also ich habe mir eine gesamte Freizeit meines Sommers letzten Jahres da reingestellt.

So I dedicated an entire free time of my summer last year to it.

Steffi hat ihre Freizeit ihres Frühjahrs da reingesteckt, um das Buch zu schreiben und so weiter.

Steffi invested her free time in the spring to write the book and so on.

Und das war eine coole.

And that was cool.

Das war eine coole Sache, ein schönes Hobby gewesen.

That was a cool thing, a nice hobby.

Eine einmalige Sache irgendwo auch.

A unique thing somewhere as well.

Und ja, irgendwie ist jetzt auch der Reiz ein Stück weit weg.

And yes, somehow the allure is now somewhat diminished.

Es war einfach eine ganz neue Erfahrung.

It was simply a completely new experience.

Dadurch, dass wir das jetzt alles schon mal durchhaben, ist die Motivation natürlich geringer.

Since we have already gone through all of this, the motivation is of course lower.

Also wir wollten weitermachen.

So we wanted to continue.

Wir haben auch schon, Steffi hat auch schon...

Die Hälfte des Drehbuchs ist fertig.

Die Hälfte von der Nachfolge geschrieben und so weiter.

Half of the succession written and so on.

Nur jetzt mit dieser Sache, also haben wir echt keinen Bock auf Rechtsstreit.

Just with this matter, we really have no desire for a legal dispute.

Wir können uns das auch nicht wirklich leisten, Anwalt oder so oder irgendwas überhaupt zu riskieren.

We really can't afford that either, to risk a lawyer or anything at all.

Es ist ganz klar, wer da am längeren Hebel sitzt, zeitlich, finanziell.

It is very clear who holds the upper hand in terms of time and finances.

Oder personell.

Or personnel.

Das ist einfach nicht wert.

It's just not worth it.

Das werden sicherlich die meisten von euch einsehen.

I'm sure most of you will see that.

Und es ist, denke ich, für alle, die ein bisschen Ahnung haben im Web auch klar,

dass es nicht so einfach ist, einfach den Namen zu ändern.
