Wenn du Leute auf der Straße fragen würdest, ob sie an Gott glauben oder an eine höhere Macht,

dann würden noch so 60, 70 Prozent sagen ja.

Wenn sie sagen würden, es ist personaler Gott, da geht es dann schon richtig runter.

Und beim Teufel, das glaubt eigentlich praktisch kein Mensch mehr.

Das ist uns komplett fremd, die Vorstellung.

Außerdem können wir uns auch nicht gut vorstellen, dass das Böse irgendwas ist,

was von außen an uns rankommt, weil wir ja die Psychologie haben.

Und die Psychologie weiß die Konflikte.

Oder wir haben halt irgendwelche Impulse, die in uns sind.

Und aus dem Innen kommen irgendwie negative Verhaltensmuster.

Aber das ist nichts, was irgendwie von außen kommt.

Oder überhaupt die ganze Vorstellung, dass der Mensch sozusagen eine Ausrede hätte.

Ja, das ist da irgendwie fremde Mächte.

Da sagen wir doch heute, es gibt keine Ausrede.

Wir sind selber verantwortlich für unser Tun.

Und all diese Punkte stimmen ja auch.

Da ist sehr viel Wahres dran.

Und zuletzt wurde ja auch wahnsinnig viel Schindluder mit dem getrieben,

der in der Mitte des Gartens steht, hat Gott gesagt,

davon dürft ihr nicht essen und daran dürft ihr nicht rühren.

You must not eat from it and you must not touch it.

Hat er zwar gar nicht gesagt, hat nur gesagt,

He didn't say that at all, he just said,

einer von den Bäumen ist tödlich, dass der in der Mitte steht

One of the trees is deadly, the one in the middle.

und dass man auch nicht anfassen darf.

and that you are also not allowed to touch.

Das hat die Eva dazu erfunden, aber das ist noch am Rande.

Weil sonst müsst ihr sterben.

Wenn wir eigentlich wissen, es wäre gut, immer nett zu sein, warum sind wir nicht nett?

If we actually know it would be good to always be nice, why aren't we nice?

Wenn wir wissen, es ist nicht gut zu klauen, warum klauen wir?

If we know it's not good to steal, why do we steal?

Welche Erfahrungen haben wir als Menschen mit dem Bösen?

What experiences do we as humans have with evil?

Und das Erste aus der Garten-Eden-Erzählung ist, wer ist betroffen?

And the first thing from the Garden of Eden story is, who is affected?

Keines der Tiere, nicht der Leopard, nicht der Biber, nicht der Dachs, nicht der Luchs.

None of the animals, neither the leopard, nor the beaver, nor the badger, nor the lynx.

Sondern nur der Mensch wird angesprochen.

But only the human being is addressed.

Es ist erstmal ein menschliches Problem.

It is primarily a human problem.

Nur Menschen tun böse Sachen.

Only humans do evil things.

Tiere, die sind auch mal grausam.

Animals can also be cruel.

Eine Katze, die spielt mit einer Maus einfach so zum Spaß.

Also es ist eine Stimme, die zu Eva spricht.

Und die sagt jetzt nicht, Eva, ich habe eine Idee, wie du super unglücklich werden kannst

And she doesn't say, Eva, I have an idea of how you can become really unhappy.

und wie die Welt ins Chaos stürzt.

and how the world plunges into chaos.

Sondern sie sagt, schau mal her, du kannst klug werden.

But she says, look here, you can become smart.

Du kannst werden wie Gott.

You can become like God.

Schau mal diese köstliche Frucht an.

Look at this delicious fruit.

Das heißt, der Impuls der Versuchung ist ein positiver Gedanke.

That means the impulse of temptation is a positive thought.

Es ist sehr wichtig zu wissen, das Böse, ich fange nochmal neu an,

das Böse beginnt nie mit einem bösen Gedanken,

Evil never begins with an evil thought,

sondern das Böse beginnt mit einem guten Gedanken.

but evil begins with a good thought.

Es ist nur so ein kleiner Gedanke erstmal.

Und der fängt dann langsam an, so seine Kreise zu ziehen.

Das sind Gedanken, wie ganz böse Dinge anfangen.

Und dann geht es weiter.

Es geht ja nur um einen.

Und dann sagt sie gleich, nee, stimmt gar nicht.
