My soul is calm.

So beginnt der Psalm 62.

Thus begins Psalm 62.

Der Psalmist weiß, dass von Gott Segen kommt.

The psalmist knows that blessings come from God.

Er in Gott Frieden und an ihm Halt findet.

He finds peace in God and stability in Him.

Doch auch er muss sich diese Wahrheiten zusprechen.

But he must also tell himself these truths.

In der Luther-Übersetzung fiel mir besonders auf, dass der Psalm bestimmte und bewusste Wendungen hat.

In the Luther translation, I particularly noticed that the psalm has certain and conscious turns of phrase.

Zu Beginn des Psalms ist sich der Psalmist sicher, meine Seele ist still bei Gott.

At the beginning of the psalm, the psalmist is certain, my soul is at rest in God.

Er ist mein Fels.

He is my rock.

Meine Hilfe.

My help.

Mein Schutz.

My protection.

Er ist sich sicher, dass er bei Gott nicht wanken wird.

He is sure that he will not falter before God.

Dann jedoch denkt er an seine Feinde, die ihm das Leben schwer machen und er fragt sich,

Then, however, he thinks of his enemies who are making his life difficult, and he asks himself,

wie lange muss ich das noch aushalten?

How much longer do I have to endure this?

In den Gedanken über seine Not merkt er, dass seine Seele wieder zu dieser Stille zurückfinden muss.

In his thoughts about his distress, he realizes that his soul must return to this silence once again.

In Vers 6 fordert er sich deshalb nun selbst auf,

In verse 6, he therefore now urges himself,

Zuflucht bei Gott zu finden.

To find refuge in God.

Zuflucht bei Gott zu suchen.

To seek refuge in God.

Aber sei nur Stille zu Gott, meine Seele, schreibt er.

But be still before God, my soul, he writes.

Er erinnert sich, indem er fast identisch wiederholt, was er zu Beginn des Psalms proklamiert hat.

He remembers by almost identically repeating what he proclaimed at the beginning of the psalm.

Er ist meine Hoffnung, mein Fels, meine Hilfe, mein Schutz, dass ich nicht wanken werde.

He is my hope, my rock, my help, my protection, that I will not falter.

Er schöpft so neue Kraft und Zuversicht, sodass er sogar ab Vers 11 nur noch andere ermutigt,

He gains new strength and confidence in this way, so that from verse 11 on he only encourages others.

auf Gott zu hoffen.

Und ihm zu vertrauen.

And to trust him.

Wie geht es deiner Seele?

In schweren Situationen tut uns der Zuspruch und die Fürbitte von anderen Menschen gut.

Doch ich möchte dich auch ermutigen, dir selbst Gottes Zusagen zuzusprechen und in stürmischen Zeiten

Und dich daran zu erinnern, Gott ist mein Fels.
