Hallo und guten Tag zusammen. Heute geht es um Kommentare im Internet. Es geht um Kommentare bei Facebook, unter Blogbeiträgen und so weiter.

Hello and good day everyone. Today we are talking about comments on the internet. It's about comments on Facebook, under blog posts, and so on.

Wie gehen wir damit um? Und sehr viele Menschen fragen sich ja, ob sie Kommentare löschen dürfen oder sollten. Und ich möchte heute ein paar Takte dazu sagen.

How do we deal with it? And many people are asking themselves whether they are allowed or should delete comments. And I would like to say a few words about that today.

Zum einen gibt es natürlich die Form schon sehr lange, nämlich in Gestalt des Leserbriefes bei der Zeitung.

On one hand, this form has existed for a very long time, namely in the form of letters to the editor in newspapers.

Und wie Sie vielleicht wissen, komme ich aus dem Journalismus und wir hatten damals natürlich bei der Zeitung sehr viel mit Leserbriefen zu tun.

And as you may know, I come from journalism, and we certainly dealt a lot with letters to the editor at the newspaper back then.

Also es gibt eine Leserbrief-Redaktion, die sich damit befasst.

So there is a letters to the editor department that deals with it.

Welche Leserbriefe kommen ins Blatt, welche nicht.

Which letters to the editor are published in the paper and which are not?

Da gibt es einige Kriterien, nach denen wir vorgegangen sind und von diesen Kriterien möchte ich jetzt mal ausgehen.

There are some criteria that we have followed, and I would like to start with these criteria now.

Also es geht im Wesentlichen darum, hat der Leser, hat die Leserin etwas Qualifiziertes zu sagen, was uns interessiert, etwas von Belang.

So basically it’s about whether the reader has something qualified to say that interests us, something of significance.

Es geht da nicht um ausgearbeitete Doktorarbeiten, das muss jetzt nicht so fürchterlich in die Tiefe gehen,

It's not about elaborately crafted doctoral theses; it doesn't have to go incredibly deep right now.

aber wir wollen einfach einen neuen Aspekt lesen, den wir so noch nicht gekannt haben.

but we simply want to read a new aspect that we have not encountered before.

Das heißt, wir wollen als Redaktion etwas Neues, also einen neuen Gedanken.

That means we want something new as an editorial team, a new idea.

Möglicherweise haben wir in der Berichterstattung auch einen bekannten Gedanken vergessen zu erwähnen, dann ist es nett, wenn ein Leser uns darauf hinweist, dann ist das auch quasi ein fehlender Gedanke.

It is possible that we have also forgotten to mention a well-known thought in our reporting, so it is nice when a reader points this out to us, as that is also essentially a missing thought.

Also solche Dinge sind interessant, dass wir also etwas lesen, einen Beitrag, aus dem etwas hervorgeht, was so noch nicht bedacht wurde in der Berichterstattung, um die es geht.

Such things are interesting, as we read something, a contribution, from which something emerges that has not yet been considered in the reporting in question.

Es gibt noch weitere Aspekte.

There are more aspects.

Also es muss natürlich zum Thema passen, das ist ein ganz wichtiger Punkt.

Well, it has to fit the topic, that's a very important point.

Also wenn Sie ein bestimmtes Thema aufmachen, Sie sprechen über ein bestimmtes Thema, dann schauen Sie, dass die Leserbriefe zu diesem Thema passen.

So if you open a specific topic, you talk about a specific topic, then make sure that the letters to the editor relate to this topic.

Also es gibt immer wieder Menschen, die lenken ab vom Thema, die versuchen auch das Thema zu drehen, indem sie ein Reframing betreiben.

So there are always people who divert from the topic, who also try to shift the subject by reframing it.

Und das nennen wir heute im Internetzeitalter Trollen.

And we call that trolling today in the age of the internet.

Also es gibt Trolle, die das tun, die wollen das Gespräch zerstören, die wollen Gedanken missdeuten.

So there are trolls who do that, who want to destroy the conversation, who want to misinterpret thoughts.

Sie wollen sich missverstehen und dann in eine Richtung lenken, die so nicht gedacht war.

They want to misunderstand and then steer in a direction that was not intended.

Sie wollen dann ihre Chance nutzen als Trolle, als Teilnehmer der Debatte, um andere Diskussionsteilnehmer zu diskreditieren und zu diffamieren.

They then want to seize their opportunity as trolls, as participants in the debate, to discredit and defame other discussion participants.

Oft auch denjenigen, der den ursprünglichen Beitrag geschrieben hat.

Often also to the one who wrote the original post.

Also beim Leserbrief können Sie nicht andere Leserbriefschreiber betrollen, das ist schwer möglich.

So when it comes to the letter to the editor, you cannot troll other letter writers; that is quite difficult.

Aber in einer Internetdiskussion geht das ja durchaus.

But in an online discussion, that is certainly possible.

Das heißt, Trolle zielen mit ihrer Destroberung.

That means trolls aim with their destruction.

Produktion auf den Thread-Eröffner, also auf denjenigen, der das Thema vorgibt und da auch noch auf andere Kommentatoren.

Wichtig ist dabei auch der Abschnitt professionelles Trollen.

Da steht, dass es natürlich auch professionelle Troll-Aktivitäten gibt, mit dem Ziel, Propaganda zu betreiben.

Was beispielsweise von Russland bekannt ist durch die Troll-Armee, die ich Ihnen ebenfalls verlinke.

Warum spreche ich an der Stelle über Trolle und über Propaganda?

Why am I talking about trolls and propaganda at this point?

Weil wir, wenn wir uns politisch äußern im Internet, immer wieder mit Menschen zu tun haben, die das Thema völlig zerreden.

Because when we express ourselves politically on the internet, we constantly encounter people who completely trivialize the topic.

Also bei mir ist das Beispiel so, dass ich mich für die westliche Welt einsetze, fürs westliche Denken, fürs aufgeklärte Denken.

So for me, the example is that I advocate for the Western world, for Western thinking, for enlightened thinking.

Und das ist eine Publizistik und Wissenschaft, die nach Maßstäben der Transparenz und Nachvollziehbarkeit arbeitet.

And this is a journalism and science that operates according to standards of transparency and traceability.

Und in diesem Zusammenhang verweise ich zum Beispiel darauf, dass das Bayerische Landesamt für Verfassungsschutz einige Medien auflistet, die russische Propaganda verbreiten.

In this context, I would like to point out, for example, that the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution lists several media outlets that spread Russian propaganda.

Und es fällt mir eben nicht schwer, zwei Beispiele zu bringen, in denen Tischis Einblick einmal massive Propaganda gegen das Impfen transportiert

und damit natürlich indirekt Putins Propaganda, der selber für Russland den Impfstoff Sputnik favorisiert hat,

aber in seiner Auslandspropaganda auf RT Deutsch beispielsweise für uns hier klar gemacht hat, dass wir alle wie die Fliegen sterben werden,

uns impfen lassen.

Wohlgemerkt diese Debatte, dass Impfstoffe Spätfolgen haben könnten, was nicht der Fall ist, weil sie keine Medikamente sind.

Diese Debatte tobt bei uns immer noch, weil die Menschen nicht begreifen, dass Impfstoffe keine Medikamente sind.

Und dann kommt eben einer mit dieser Argumentation her und sagt, Tischis Einblick doch nicht.

And then someone comes along with this argument and says, "Not Tischis Einblick."

Ich google zehn Sekunden, finde einen Beitrag und finde noch weitere Beiträge, in denen es einfach darum geht,

I Google for ten seconds, find one post, and find more posts that are simply about,

dass dieses Medium russische Narrative transportiert.

that this medium conveys Russian narratives.

Damit ist noch nicht gesagt, ob die aus Russland bezahlt werden oder ob sie sich dieser Propaganda überhaupt bewusst sind.

This does not yet indicate whether they are being paid from Russia or whether they are even aware of this propaganda.

Es ist einfach so, dass der Verfassungsschutz einfach nur Medien aufgelistet hat, in denen sich diese pro-russischen Narrative finden.

It is simply the case that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has only listed media in which these pro-Russian narratives can be found.

Okay, so, das ist die Sachlage.

Wenn jetzt jemand einwendet, das sei Quatsch, dann läuft die Diskussion auf eine andere Schiene.

If someone argues that this is nonsense, then the discussion shifts to a different track.

Und dann begegne ich dem Treuhand.

And then I meet the trust.

Voll mit zwei Entgegnungen komme ich dann und sage, so Leute, hier haben wir russische Narrative.

Full of two counterarguments, I then come and say, so folks, here we have Russian narratives.

Und damit ist die Äußerung seitens des Landesamtes für Verfassungsschutz eben zutreffend.

And thus the statement from the State Office for Protection of the Constitution is indeed accurate.

Also, was machen wir mit Trollen?

So, what do we do with trolls?

Was machen wir mit Leuten, die vom Thema ablenken, die nicht beim Thema bleiben, die versuchen, das Thema zu drehen?

What do we do with people who distract from the topic, who don't stay on topic, who try to change the subject?

Bei einer Leserbriefredaktion ist das völlig einfach.

It is completely easy at a letter to the editor editorial office.

Da sagen sie nämlich Kontakte.

They say contacts there.

Nicht ins Blatt.

Not in the paper.

Ist off-topic.

Is off-topic.

Der redet über irgendwas, das ist nicht qualifiziert, weil wir es einfach mit einem Fingerschnippen widerlegen können, so wie in diesem Fall.

He's talking about something that is not qualified because we can easily refute it with a snap of our fingers, just like in this case.

Also bleibt der Troll draußen.

So the troll stays outside.

Ja, das ist ziemlich klar in einer Leserbriefredaktion und auch sehr einfach zu praktizieren.

Yes, that is pretty clear in a letters to the editor section and also very easy to practice.

Sie müssen keine Leserbriefe ins Blatt nehmen.

You don't have to publish any letters to the editor.

Und daraus folgt übrigens auch, Sie müssen keine Kommentare dulden.

And this also means, by the way, that you do not have to tolerate any comments.

Das ist ein ganz wichtiger Punkt.

That is a very important point.

Bei einer Leserbriefseite steht sogar dabei,

On a letters to the editor page, it even says,

Also wir, die Redaktion, behalten uns vor, Leserbriefe zu kürzen und zu redigieren.

So we, the editorial team, reserve the right to shorten and edit letters to the editor.

Ich denke mal, wenn ich das in meinem Blog auch schreibe, dann darf ich natürlich auch Kommentare von Kommentatoren kürzen und redigieren auf der anderen Seite diese Arbeit.

I think that if I write this in my blog, then I should also be allowed to shorten and edit comments from commentators on the other side of this work.

Wer will sich die machen?

Who wants to make them?

Dann sage ich doch lieber, okay, lösche ich den Kommentar.

Then I would rather say, okay, I'll delete the comment.

Dann kommen andere wieder und sagen, das widerspricht der Meinungsfreiheit.

Then others come and say that contradicts freedom of speech.

Und dann sage ich, nein, dieser Mensch hat das Recht, selbst einen Blog zu eröffnen oder bei Facebook einen.

And then I say, no, this person has the right to open a blog or one on Facebook themselves.

Ein Thema zu eröffnen kann er machen.

He can start a topic.

Das ist seine Meinungsfreiheit.

That is his freedom of expression.

Wenn wir bei mir sind, in meinem Blog, auf meiner Facebook-Seite, dann bin ich dort der Chefredakteur und entscheide, was reinkommt und was nicht.

When we are on my blog, on my Facebook page, then I am the editor-in-chief there and decide what goes in and what does not.

Und dann darf ich natürlich Kommentare löschen.

And then I can of course delete comments.

Kommentare lösche ich nicht unbedingt, weil mir die Meinung nicht passt, die da drin steht,

I don't necessarily delete comments because I don't like the opinion expressed in them.

sondern in aller Regel lösche ich Kommentare, weil sie vom Thema ablenken, weil es Trollereien sind, die dann die Diskussion zerstören.

but usually I delete comments because they distract from the topic, because they are trolling that then destroys the discussion.

Und wenn jemand immer wieder mit solchen Kommentaren,

And if someone keeps making such comments,

mit solchen Kommentaren auffällt, dann wird er irgendwann auch geblockt.

If he stands out with such comments, he will eventually be blocked.

Und das ist auch richtig so.

And that is also right.

Denn wir müssen aufpassen, wie wir, mit welcher Hygiene wir in der öffentlichen Kommunikation vorgehen.

Because we must be careful about how we approach public communication, with what hygiene we apply.

Denn Worte bilden Meinungen.

For words form opinions.

Wenn ich jemanden die ganze Zeit mit Schwachsinn bombardiere, wird er irgendwann Schwachsinn denken.

If I bombard someone with nonsense all the time, they will eventually think nonsense.

Ich erwähne das auch parallel in einem Video, das ich gerade bearbeite.

I also mention this in a video that I am currently editing.

Die russische Öffentlichkeit wird kaum noch eine Chance haben, sich eine qualifizierte Meinung zu bilden,

weil sie ganz massiv unter dem Eindruck aggressiv...

...aggressive...

...aggressivster Propaganda gegen den Westen steht.

Und wenn ich solche Stimmen dann bei mir in Facebook oder LinkedIn habe,

And when I have such voices on Facebook or LinkedIn,

die dann ganz klar pro-russisch agieren, obwohl nach wie vor unbestritten ist,

which then clearly act pro-Russian, although it is still undisputed that,

dass der russische Angriff auf die Ukraine ein Völkerrechtsbruch ist

that the Russian attack on Ukraine is a violation of international law

und alle Ausreden der Westen habe eine Mitschuld eben auf die russische Propaganda zurückgehen.

And all excuses that the West has a share of the blame stem from Russian propaganda.

Also wer das System mal versteht, wer sich da mal reingelesen hat, der wird dann auch sagen,

So whoever understands the system, whoever has read into it, will then also say,

okay, nein, wir müssen vielleicht sogar irgendwann mal darüber nachdenken,

okay, no, we might even have to think about it at some point.

wie gefährdende Unwahrheiten in irgendeiner Weise zu unterbinden.

Also jedenfalls deren professionelle Multiplikation.

Das heißt, wenn Sie einen Kommentar bekommen auf Ihrer Seite und dieser Kommentar gehört nicht zum Thema,

alle haben das Recht, ihre Meinung auf Ihrer Seite zu publizieren.

Ich will einfach nur sagen, es gehört zur Pressefreiheit, dass wir auch Inhalte nicht bringen.

Pressefreiheit bedeutet unter anderem auch die Souveränität.

Press freedom also means sovereignty, among other things.

Entscheiden zu dürfen, was zum Thema gehört und was nicht, also ein Thema einzugrenzen.

To be allowed to decide what is relevant to the topic and what is not, thus to narrow down a topic.

Zu sagen, was gehört dazu, bedeutet immer auch es abzugrenzen.

To say what belongs to it also always means to define it.

Was gehört nicht mehr dazu?

What no longer belongs?

Weitere Kriterien, ob wir in einer Redaktion Leserbriefe zulassen oder nicht, sind noch.

Other criteria for whether we allow letters to the editor in our editorial section are still to be determined.

Es gibt viele Kriterien, ich will jetzt nochmal drei nennen, die relativ wichtig sind.

There are many criteria; I want to mention three now that are relatively important.

Einfach mal die Angemessenheit im Stil.

Simply consider the appropriateness in style.

Wenn einer vom Leder zieht und die Leute beleidigt, hat er kaum eine Chance mit seinem Leserbrief.

If someone lashes out and insults people, he has little chance with his letter to the editor.

Und wenn er sich dann beschwert, wir würden Zensur ausüben, dann wissen wir halt,

And if he then complains that we are exercising censorship, then we just know,

es ist ein hoffnungsloser Fall, ohne politisches Gespür, ohne Gespür für die Gesellschaft,

it is a hopeless case, without political sensitivity, without a sense for society,

ohne publizistisches Bewusstsein.

without journalistic awareness.

Also das ist dann auch nicht weiter schlimm, wenn jemand mit vulgärer Sprache daherkommt

So it's not a big deal if someone comes along with vulgar language.

oder Leute beleidigt oder pauschal diskreditiert.

or insulted people or discredited them in general.

Also die Politik.

So the politics.

Die westlichen Politiker insgesamt.

The Western politicians in general.

Wer auf dieser pauschalen Ebene daherkommt, wird selten einen Platz in der Leserbriefspalte finden.

Those who approach on this simplistic level will rarely find a place in the letters to the editor section.

Dann noch ein Kriterium, was ein Leserbriefschreiber schreibt, muss natürlich stimmen.

Then another criterion is that what a letter writer writes must of course be true.

Das muss zutreffen.

That must be true.

Also die meisten Leserbriefe beinhalten Meinungen.

Most letters to the editor contain opinions.

Das sind also Stellungnahmen zu dem Thema, über das gesprochen wurde.

These are therefore statements on the topic that was discussed.

Aber manchmal kommen in Leserbriefen eben auch Behauptungen rüber und die müssen dann stimmen.

But sometimes claims come through in letters to the editor, and they must be true.

Ja.

Yes.

Also wir müssen dann in der Leserbriefredaktion nachrecherchieren, ob das stimmt,

So we need to investigate in the letters to the editor department whether that is true.

dass die Amerikaner im Jahr 1900 noch was dieses und jenes wirklich gemacht haben.

that the Americans in the year 1900 actually did this and that.

Oder dass die NATO damals, das müssen wir dann nachrecherchieren.

Or that NATO back then, we will have to verify that later.

Und wenn das dann stimmt, dann können wir diesen Leserbrief auch ins Blatt reingeben.

And if that is the case, then we can also include this letter to the editor in the publication.

Wenn das nicht stimmt, dann können wir es nicht machen.

If that is not correct, then we cannot do it.

Und es geht hier nicht darum, dass wir keine Vorwürfe gegenüber den USA erheben wollen,

And it's not about us wanting to make accusations against the USA,

nur weil wir westlich sind, sondern ich denke, die Kritik an den USA ist allgegenwärtig,

just because we are western, but I think the criticism of the USA is ubiquitous,

seit Jahrzehnten und die findet natürlich auch in den Leserbriefspalten statt.

for decades, and it certainly takes place in the letters to the editor sections as well.

Und der letzte Punkt schließlich, was ein Leserbriefschreiber schreibt, muss zulässig sein.

And finally, the last point is that what a letter writer writes must be permissible.

Zulässig bedeutet, es ist nicht rechtswidrig, es verletzt keine Rechte, es ist kein Straftatsbestand.

Permissible means it is not unlawful, it does not infringe any rights, it is not a criminal offense.

Also wir lesen keine Auschwitz-Lüge und wir lesen keine Volksverhetzung,

So we do not read any Auschwitz lies and we do not read any incitement to hatred,

wir lesen keine Beleidigungen und keine üblen Nachreden und keine Verleumdungen.

We do not read insults, slander, or defamation.

Also Verleumdung ist, wenn ich weiß, dass ich über jemanden die Unwahrheit sage,

So defamation is when I know that I am speaking untruths about someone.

üble Nachrede ist, wenn ich einfach nur stupide ein Gerücht nachplappere,

malicious gossip is when I simply repeat a rumor mindlessly,

was ich halt irgendwo gelesen habe und dann heißt es plötzlich, der Selenski ist korrupt und so.

What I read somewhere, and then suddenly it says that Zelensky is corrupt and so on.

Solche Sachen fliegen natürlich raus, also jetzt die Unzulässigkeit.

Such things are of course thrown out, so now the inadmissibility.

Unzulässig sind zum Beispiel Aufrufe zum Systemumsturz,

zur Abschaffung der freiheitlich-demokratischen Grundordnung.

Da kann man im Zweifel auch nochmal schauen, wenn jemand mit einer Behauptung kommt.

In case of doubt, one can also take another look if someone makes a claim.

Also wenn irgendein Kommentator bei Ihnen bei Facebook irgendwas behauptet,

So if any commentator claims anything on your Facebook,

von dem Sie denken, okay, das ist mir jetzt zu kompliziert, das kann ich jetzt nicht nachrecherchieren,

that you think, okay, this is too complicated for me now, I can't look this up right now,

dann gucken Sie mal auf einer der Fake News und Debunking-Seiten,

die sich mit Fake News befassen, ob dort möglicherweise eine...

Also ganz prinzipiell ist wichtig, wir sind die Chefredakteurinnen und Chefredakteure unserer Inhalte.

So fundamentally, it is important that we are the editors-in-chief of our content.

Wir geben die Themen vor und wir dürfen entscheiden, in welche Richtung wir schreiben oder sprechen im Podcast.

We set the topics and we get to decide in which direction we write or speak in the podcast.

Das ist die sogenannte Tendenzfreiheit.
