Also die 80er waren vorbei, die 90er standen da.

So the 80s were over, the 90s were upon us.

In Berlin gab es einen Typen, der hat irgendwie so eine Love Parade organisiert,

In Berlin, there was a guy who somehow organized a Love Parade.

wo 150 Leute hinter so einer komischen Hausmusik gezappelt sind,

where 150 people were dancing behind such weird house music,

in so einem Wagen hinterher gelaufen sind.

chased after such a car.

Das fand ich irgendwie am Anfang komisch, aber ich habe gewusst, da steckt was Neues drin.

I found that a bit strange at first, but I knew there was something new in it.

Und das war gerade einfach so das Indie-Jahrzehnt.

And that was just the indie decade.

Also die Gitarren gehen zu Ende.

So the guitars are running out.

Es kam zwar noch mal mit Grunge ein kurzer Nachzucker sozusagen auf,

There was indeed a brief resurgence with grunge, so to speak.

aber es brach was Neues an, diese Hausmusik-Szene, Techno-Szene.

But something new was beginning, this house music scene, techno scene.

Und da hatte ich einfach das Glück, dass mich das sehr interessiert hat

And I was just lucky that I was very interested in it.

und habe dann fast nahtlos so einen Wandel hingelegt vom Indie-Fan zu einem Elektronik-Fan.

and then almost seamlessly made a transition from being an indie fan to being an electronic fan.

Und das war am Anfang, fand ich, im Zündfunk nicht so einfach,

And at the beginning, I found it not so easy in Zündfunk.

weil da gab es noch richtig Grabenkämpfe.

because there were still real trench battles there.

Ist das noch Musik? Wie präsentiert man diese Musik?

Is this still music? How do you present this music?

Und dann war irgendwie klar, okay, die Musik bleibt und entwickelt sich.

And then it was somehow clear, okay, the music stays and evolves.

Und dann gab es ja auch schon Warp Records,

And then there was already Warp Records,

also weg von diesem Party-Techno hin zu intelligenteren Sachen.

So moving away from this party techno towards smarter stuff.

Und dann irgendwann war sozusagen der Weg frei,

And then at some point, the way was free,

dass man auch im Zündfunk dann eine eigene Sendung für elektronische Musik macht.

Und die habe ich dann gemacht.
