Nicht lange, nachdem ihm vor drei Jahren für den wissenschaftlichen Nachweis eines schwarzen Loches der Physik-Nobelpreis zuerkannt worden war,

Also ich habe versucht, ein paar Leute vorzuwarnen, auch unseren Präsidenten und die Leute in der Gruppe.

Und dann innerhalb von Minuten ist also dann der Teufel los.

Aber das war schon eine ganz tolle Veranstaltung.

Weil bei mir kommt noch dazu, dass ich abends dann noch weiter musste nach Berkeley, weil ich ja ein zweites Leben in den USA habe.

Because on top of that, I had to continue on to Berkeley in the evening, as I have a second life in the USA.

Die wollten auch mit mir sprechen.

They also wanted to talk to me.

Sie sind immer noch dort an der Uni?

hat mir eine Mail geschickt und hat mich gleich gewarnt, dass jetzt eine harte Zeit auf mich zukäme.

Und das war, das war schon richtig.

Und eine der Problematiken, die einem natürlich dabei passiert, ist, dass einem der Kalender verloren geht.

And one of the problems that can happen is that you lose track of the calendar.

Das heißt also, wenn man vorher eine halbwegs geordnete Leben hat, hat man es dann nicht mehr.

That means, if you have a somewhat orderly life beforehand, you no longer have it.

Und ich am Morgen, wenn ich hier reinkomme, sagt mir meine Sekretärin was an diesem Tag.

Und die andere Sache ist natürlich der Umgang mit der Presse.

Auf der anderen Seite natürlich gibt es dann Neider und es gibt natürlich auch Missverständlichkeiten, auch dass es passiert.

Ist das nicht auch eine gewisse Ungerechtigkeit, dass Sie den Preis dann eben als Einzelperson bekommen?

Also die Tatsache, dass ich jetzt im letzten Jahr auch schon und dann nochmal vor zwei Jahren Astrophysiker diesen Preis erhalten haben, ist eher ungewöhnlich.

So the fact that I received this award last year and then again two years ago as an astrophysicist is rather unusual.

Auf der anderen Seite gibt es natürlich Grenzen, das ist ganz klar.

On the other hand, there are certainly limits, that is very clear.

That is about 10 to 30 times the mass of the Sun.

Und dann gibt es eben die Dinger, die wir untersuchen,

And then there are the things that we investigate,

die in den Zentren von großen Milchstraßensystemen anzutreffen sind,

those found in the centers of large galaxy systems,

die dadurch entstehen, dass eben Material in diesen Zentren reinfällt,

that arise from material falling into these centers,

immer mehr reinfällt, insbesondere in den frühen Phasen,

more and more falls in, especially in the early phases,

und dann diese Riesendinger über die Zeit hinweg aufbaut.

and then builds these huge things over time.

um dieses schwere Etwas in der Mitte der Galaxie nachzuweisen.

to detect this heavy something in the center of the galaxy.

Erklären Sie uns mal ein bisschen, Sie können ja schwarze Löcher eben nicht sehen,
