Es gibt ganz viele verschiedene Formen des Ehrenamts in Deutschland.

Und man kann auch sagen, dass wer früh sich engagiert, auch ein Leben lang engagiert bleibt.

Aber auf der anderen Seite kann man feststellen, dass insbesondere jüngere Zielgruppen bis zum Alter von 29, 30 intensiver engagiert sind.

Und wir dann wieder ein intensiveres Engagement, ich sag mal, im Seniorinnen- und Seniorenalter erleben.

Weil natürlich auch irgendwann das Alter hinzukommt und damit vielleicht auch ein Stück weit die Lust verloren geht.

Insbesondere bei Menschen, die, ich sage mal, im Alter fortgeschritten sind, ist neben der Freude die Suche nach Geselligkeit ein wesentliches Motiv, warum man sich engagieren kann.

Wie passt das denn zusammen?

Wir haben schon eine leicht polarisierte,

aber eben keine wirklich gespaltene Gesellschaft.

but not really a divided society.

Das wäre jetzt in der Tat übertrieben.

That would indeed be an exaggeration.

Und Engagement spielt für den Zusammenhalt der Gesellschaft eine zentrale Rolle.

And commitment plays a central role in the cohesion of society.

Engagement ist etwas, wo Menschen etwas tun für andere Menschen,

Engagement is something where people do something for other people,

weil sie Menschen einfach gut finden und Sympathien haben für Menschen.

because they simply find people good and have sympathy for people.

Und sie tun das vor Ort in der Nachbarschaft.

And they do that on-site in the neighborhood.

Sie tun das in der Gemeinde, in der Stadt, im Landkreis, aber auch weltweit.

They do this in the community, in the city, in the county, but also worldwide.

Wenn sie an Dritte-Welt-Leben denken.

When they think of third-world living.

Also Engagement ist etwas, was mit Sympathien, mit anderen zu tun hat

Engagement is something that has to do with sympathies and with others.

und dem Willen etwas mitzugestalten in dem jeweiligen Umfeld, in dem man sich bewegt.

and the desire to help shape something in the respective environment in which one moves.

Und da ist es dann etwas sehr Konstruktives, etwas Positives.

And there it is something very constructive, something positive.

Es sind also nicht die Leute, die nur mit einem Mausklick eine Meinung äußern,

So it's not the people who just express an opinion with a mouse click,

manchmal begründet, manchmal unbegründet,

sometimes justified, sometimes unjustified,

sondern Engagierte sind Personen, die etwas tun.

Rather, engaged individuals are those who take action.

Und dieses Tun ist hochgradig konstruktiv.

And this action is highly constructive.

Wenn Sie diese Unterscheidung machen in Ehrenamt, das haben Sie gesagt, ist so ein bisschen gestrig quasi.
