Es lautet, warum so viele Kirchen auf der Suche nach einer geistlichen Heimat?

Viele Menschen sind heute auf der Suche nach dem Sinn und nach der Zukunft für ihr Leben.

Many people today are searching for the meaning and the future of their lives.

Wir suchen nach einer guten Nachricht für unser Leben.

We are looking for good news for our lives.

Was wäre, wenn wir einem falschen religiösen Lehrer folgen würden?

What if we were to follow a false religious teacher?

Das kann manchmal sehr schlimme Folgen haben, wie wir ja aus der Vergangenheit kennen,

This can sometimes have very serious consequences, as we know from the past.

wo man solchen Lehrern gefolgt ist, wo man ihnen vertraut hat.

where such teachers have been followed, where they have been trusted.

Und es endete dann oftmals auch in einer Katastrophe.

And it often ended in a catastrophe.

Es gibt Prediger oder ich sage mal so Hass-Prediger,

There are preachers, or I would say hate-preachers,

die in der Vergangenheit viele verführt haben und wo Menschen dann ein böses Erwachen erleben mussten.

Zum Beispiel 1978, das ist ja bis heute bekannt, Jim Jones,

er war der Führer der sogenannten Volkstempler-Sekte in Jonestown im Guayana.

es waren über 900 Menschen gewesen, die seiner Religion dort folgten,

in diesen Wäldern von Guayana einfach zu einem Massenselbstmord getrieben.

Über 900 Menschen kamen ins Leben.

Oder vielleicht, wir erinnern uns auch an David Koresh, der 1993 in seiner christlichen Sekte in Waco im USA-Staat Texas

sich und 86 seiner Anhänger in den Tod getrieben hat.

Es gibt viele Menschen, die immer mehr, so hat man den Eindruck, sich präsentieren,

Menschen um sich scharen.

Gather people around oneself.

Ich denke hier auch an die Sonnentempler-Sekte 1997 in der Schweiz, in Kanada, in Frankreich,

wo es auch solche Massenselbstmorde gab mit über 70 Toten und andere.

Eine schlimme Sache.

Was ist eigentlich eine Sekte?

What is actually a sect?

Eine christliche Sekte aus biblischer Sicht ist eine Gruppe,

A Christian sect from a biblical perspective is a group,

die Jesus Christus nicht als Herrn und Erlöser akzeptiert

those who do not accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior

und andere Autoritäten über die Bibel stellt.

and other authorities above the Bible.

So könnte man...

Vom christlichen Standpunkt her sagen,

From a Christian point of view, they say,

es gibt Traditionen, es gibt auch die Wissenschaft,

there are traditions, there is also science,

es gibt eigene Erfahrungen, es gibt Wunder,

there are personal experiences, there are miracles,

es gibt Schwärmer, auch eigene Bücher, die man schreibt.

There are enthusiasts, even their own books, that one writes.

Ich denke hier auch an die christliche Wissenschaft,

I am also thinking of Christian Science here,

wo man versucht, eigene Philosophien aufzustellen und sie zu verbreiten,

where one tries to establish and spread one's own philosophies,

um Menschen in ihren Band zu ziehen, sie dafür zu begeistern.

to draw people into their band, to inspire them for it.

Ich möchte einmal fünf Merkmale nennen von Sekten.

I would like to mention five characteristics of cults.

Man könnte sicher noch mehr hinzufügen,

One could certainly add more.

aber ich denke, diese fünf sind so ganz typisch,

but I think these five are just so typical,

wenn man heute versuchen will, eine Sekte zu beschreiben.

If one wants to try to describe a cult today.

Das erste Merkmal einer Sekte ist ein mächtiger Führer,

The first characteristic of a cult is a powerful leader,

der in dieser Gruppe oder in dieser Sekte zu einem Messias gemacht wird.

who is made into a messiah in this group or sect.

Das zweite Merkmal...

The second characteristic...

Dass die Mitglieder ab einem gewissen Zeitpunkt geradezu gezwungen werden,

That the members are forced to a certain extent from a certain point in time,

ihre Entscheidungsfreiheit, die sie ja haben als Menschen, aufzugeben,

to give up their freedom of choice, which they have as human beings,

um dieses Führerswillen.

for the sake of this leader.

Er bestimmt.

He decides.

Er gibt die Ziele vor, die man anzustreben hat.

He sets the goals that one should strive for.

Der dritte Punkt.

The third point.

Die Mitglieder werden von ihren Familien isoliert.

The members are isolated from their families.

Oftmals, weil auch die Familienangehörigen gar nicht mitmachen wollen,

Often because the family members do not want to participate at all,

weil es da Widersprüche gibt.

because there are contradictions.

Und so distanziert man sich von ihnen.

And that is how one distances oneself from them.

Und das wird auch von solchen Sektenführern propagiert,

And this is also propagated by such cult leaders,

dass man sich von den eigenen Familienangehörigen dann distanzieren sollte,

that one should distance oneself from one's own family members,

damit man ganz für den Führer da ist.

so that one is completely there for the Leader.

Ein vierter Grund.

A fourth reason.

Solche Sekten gründen ihre Glaubwürdigkeit oft auf Wunder

Such sects often base their credibility on miracles.

und führen permanent von der Bibel weg.

and permanently lead away from the Bible.

Mit der Bibel will man nichts zu tun haben, letztendlich.

In the end, one does not want to have anything to do with the Bible.

Und der fünfte Punkt.

And the fifth point.

Der fünfte Punkt ist eine totale Unterordnung unter die Gruppe.

The fifth point is a total subordination to the group.

Das ist Bedingung, um dabei bleiben zu können.

That is a condition to be able to stay involved.

Nun, solche Sekten werden immer mehr von Menschen aufgesucht,

Well, such sects are increasingly sought out by people,

die einen Halt suchen, die einen Sinn im Leben suchen,

those who seek support, those who seek meaning in life,

aber letztendlich ihn dort doch nicht finden.

but ultimately not find him there after all.

Es gibt nur...

There is only...

Einen, der uns Menschen Sicherheit gibt,

One who provides us humans with security,

der uns Menschen auch eine Hoffnung gibt.

that also gives us humans hope.

Und das ist Jesus Christus und sein Wort, die Bibel.

And this is Jesus Christ and his word, the Bible.

Sie geben unserem Glauben, auch unserer Sehnsucht, Sicherheit, Hoffnung ein Ziel.

They give our faith, our longing, security, and hope a goal.

Ich denke hier an ein Wort aus dem Matthäusevangelium,

I am thinking of a word from the Gospel of Matthew,

wo Jesus einmal die Zukunft beschreibt für seine Jünger und für alle,

where Jesus once describes the future for his disciples and for everyone,

die ihm nachfolgen.

those who follow him.

Und er sagt dort,

And he says there,

Wenn es um Wahrheit geht,

When it comes to truth,

hat Jesus einen eindeutigen Anspruch in dieser Beziehung.

Jesus has a clear claim in this regard.

Er sagt im Johannes 14,

He says in John 14,

Ich bin der Weg, ich bin die Wahrheit und ich bin das Leben.

I am the way, I am the truth, and I am the life.

Ohne mich kann niemand zum Vater kommen.

No one can come to the Father except through me.

Jesus will die Einheit.

Jesus wants the unity.

Es gibt ein Wort, wir finden es im Johannes-Evangelium.

There is a word, we find it in the Gospel of John.

Und dort sind es die Verse 20 bis 23.

And there are verses 20 to 23.

Jesus sagt seinen Jüngern, heilige sie in der Wahrheit,

Jesus says to his disciples, sanctify them in the truth,

dein Wort ist die Wahrheit.

your word is the truth.

Es ist eigentlich ein Gebet, was Jesus hier spricht.

It is actually a prayer that Jesus is speaking here.

Heilige sie in der Wahrheit, dein Wort ist die Wahrheit.

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Wie du mich gesandt hast in die Welt, so sende ich sie auch in die Welt, sagt Jesus.

"As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world," says Jesus.

Ich heilige mich selbst für sie, damit auch sie geheiligt seien in der Wahrheit.

I sanctify myself for them, that they also may be sanctified in the truth.

Ich bitte aber nicht allein für sie, sondern auch für die,

I ask not only for her, but also for those,

die durch ihr Wort an mich glauben werden.

those who will believe in me through their word.

Damit sie alle eins seien, wie du, Vater, in mir bist und ich in dir,

That they may all be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you,

so sollen auch sie in uns sein, damit die Welt glaube, dass du mich gesandt hast.

So they too may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.

Und ich habe ihnen die Herrlichkeit gegeben, die du mir gegeben hast,

And I have given them the glory that you gave me,

damit sie eins seien, wie wir eins sind.

that they may be one, as we are one.

Ich in ihnen und du in mir, damit sie vollkommen eins seien

I in them and you in me, that they may be perfectly one.

und die Welt erkenne, dass du mich gesandt hast und sie liebst,

and the world will know that you have sent me and that you love them,

wie du mich gesandt hast.

as you have sent me.

Wie du mich liebst.

How you love me.

Die Frage, warum gibt es so viele Kirchen?

The question is, why are there so many churches?

In der Apostelgeschichte im zweiten Kapitel und dort im 42. Vers,

In the Book of Acts in the second chapter and there in verse 42,

da steht das Wort, sie blieben aber beständig in der Lehre der Apostel

There stands the word, they remained steadfast in the teaching of the apostles.

und in der Gemeinschaft und im Brotbrechen und im Gebet.

and in the fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayer.

Das ist ein Wort von der ersten Kirche,

That is a word from the first church,

die Christengemeinde.

the Christian community.

Und hier wird geschildert, wie diese ersten Christen zusammenblieben.

And here it is described how these first Christians stayed together.

Sie waren eins in der Lehre.

They were one in the teaching.

Sie waren eins auch dadurch, dass sie die Gemeinschaft suchten,

They were one also because they sought community,

im Brotbrechen und im Gebet.

in the breaking of bread and in prayer.

Der Apostel Paulus aber warnt schon damals vor falschen Lehrern,

The Apostle Paul, however, warns even then against false teachers,

die die Wahrheit Jesu eines Tages verfälschen werden

who will distort the truth of Jesus one day

und Menschen für sich gewinnen wollen.

and want to win people over for themselves.

Er sagt es mit den Worten,

He says it with the words,

von jetzt an müsst ihr auf euch selbst achten

From now on, you have to take care of yourselves.

und auf die ganze Gemeinde,

and on the whole congregation,

für die euch der Heilige Geist als Hürden einsetzte.

for which the Holy Spirit appointed you as guardians.

Ihr sollt die Gemeinde Gottes hüten,

You should shepherd the congregation of God,

die er sich durch das Blut seines Sohnes erworben hat.

that he has acquired through the blood of his Son.

Denn ich weiß, so sagt Paulus, wenn ich nicht mehr da bin,

For I know, as Paul says, when I am no longer here,

dann werden falsche Lehrer wie reisende Wölfe über euch herfallen

Then false teachers will fall upon you like wandering wolves.

und sie werden die Herde nicht schonen.

and they will not spare the flock.

Sogar uns, die wir nicht mehr da sind, werden wir nicht mehr da sein.

Even we, who are no longer here, will no longer be here.

Unter euch wird es Männer geben,

Among you, there will be men,

die nur deshalb die Wahrheit verfälschen,

who only distort the truth for that reason,

weil sie Menschen für sich gewinnen wollen.

because they want to win people over for themselves.

Paulus warnt also vor diesen falschen Lehrern,

Paul warns against these false teachers,

die die Wahrheit Jesu verfälschen

those who distort the truth of Jesus

und Menschen für sich gewinnen wollen.

and want to win people over for themselves.

Das ist das Ziel einer Sekte,

That is the goal of a cult,

Menschen für sich zu gewinnen, nicht für Gott.

To win people for oneself, not for God.

Nun, was sagt die Bibel über diese Entwicklung der Nachfolger Jesu voraus?

Well, what does the Bible predict about this development of the followers of Jesus?

Und sie sagt nicht wenig darüber.

And she says not a little about it.

Im letzten Buch der Bibel, in der Offenbarung,

In the last book of the Bible, in the Revelation,

da werden vier sogenannte apokalyptische Reiter genannt.

There are four so-called apocalyptic riders mentioned.

Sie geben Aufschluss über die Entwicklung der christlichen Kirche

They provide insight into the development of the Christian church.

im Laufe der Geschichte.

in the course of history.

Und dort im sechsten Kapitel in der Offenbarung,

And there in the sixth chapter of the Revelation,

in den Versen 1 und 2, da steht,

in verses 1 and 2, it says,

das heißt Johannes, der Schreiber der Offenbarung,

that is John, the writer of the Revelation,

er sieht das Lamm Gottes, er sieht Jesus und sagt nun,

He sees the Lamb of God, he sees Jesus and now says,

und ich sage, dass ich nicht mehr da bin,

and I say that I am no longer there,

I saw that the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals.

und ich hörte eine der vier Gestalten sagen,

and I heard one of the four figures say,

like with a thunderous voice, come.

Und ich sah und siehe ein weißes Pferd

And I saw, and behold, a white horse.

und der darauf saß, hatte einen Bogen

and the one who was sitting on it had a bow

und ihm wurde eine Krone gegeben

and a crown was given to him

und er zog aus, sieghaft umzusiegen.

And he set out, victorious to conquer.

Dieser erste Reiter in der Offenbarung

This first rider in the Revelation

symbolisiert die siegreiche Kirche.

symbolizes the victorious church.

Sie wird auch dargestellt in Gestalt einer tugendhaften Frau

She is also depicted in the form of a virtuous woman.

als das Symbol für die Gemeinde Gottes in dieser Welt.

as the symbol for the community of God in this world.

Und diese Frau wird in einem weißen Kleid

And this woman will be in a white dress.

mit einer Krone von Sternen dargestellt,

represented with a crown of stars,

was wiederum bedeutet, dieser reine Glaube,

which in turn means, this pure faith,

dieses reine Trachten nach Wahrheit,

this pure striving for truth,

nach der Wahrheit, nach der Wahrheit, nach der Wahrheit,

nach dem, was Gott eigentlich will.

Durch diese kraftvolle Verkündigung der Botschaft der ersten Christen

hat sich diese gute Nachricht von Jesus sehr schnell ausgebreitet.

Im Jahre 30 nach Christus, da gab es etwa 500 Christen.

Im Jahre 100 nach Christus, 70 Jahre später,

In the year 100 AD, 70 years later,

waren es schon 500.000 Christen,

were there already 500,000 Christians,

die diesen Glauben an Jesus angenommen hatten.

those who had accepted this faith in Jesus.

Und dann geht es weiter in der Offenbarung

And then it continues in the Revelation.

und es steht dort von diesem zweiten Reiter,

and it says there about this second rider,

den Johannes sah und als es das zweite Siegel auftat,

saw John, and when he opened the second seal,

da hörte ich die zweite Gestalt sagen, komm.

Then I heard the second figure say, come.

Und es kam heraus, ein zweites Pferd, das war feuerrot

And out came a second horse, which was fire red.

und dem, der darauf saß, wurde Macht gegeben,

and power was given to him who sat on it,

den Frieden von der Erde zu nehmen,

to take peace from the Earth,

dass sie sich untereinander umbrechten

that they killed each other

und ihm wurde ein großes Schwert gegeben.

And a great sword was given to him.

Dieser zweite Reiter als Offenbarung 6 symbolisiert die verfolgte Kirche.

This second rider as Revelation 6 symbolizes the persecuted church.

Der erste Reiter, auf dem weißen Pferd, verfolgt die siegreiche Kirche

The first rider on the white horse pursues the victorious church.

und dieser zweite, feuerrote, die verfolgte Kirche.

and this second, fire-red one, the pursued church.

Hier vorne ist ein Bild, es zeigt das Kolosseum in Rom.

Man kann sagen, es steht gewissermaßen als Manuskript,

ein Anmahl für Hunderttausende von Christen,

a call to hundreds of thousands of Christians,

die ihre Liebe zu Jesus mit dem Tod bezahlt haben.

who paid for their love of Jesus with their lives.

Sie wurden den wilden Tieren vorgeworfen,

They were accused of the wild animals,

als lebendige Fackeln verbrannt, sie wurden gekreuzigt

burned as living torches, they were crucified

und von vielen Märtyrern wird berichtet,

and many martyrs are reported to have been,

dass sie gottlobend in den Tod gegangen sind.

that they have gone to their death praising God.

Es ist faszinierend, wenn man diese Berichte liest,

a measure of wheat for a silver head,

ein Silbergroschen und drei Maß Gerste für einen Silbergroschen,

a silver groschen and three measures of barley for one silver groschen,

aber dem Öl und Wein tu keinen Schaden.

but do no harm to the oil and wine.

Dieser dritte Reiter symbolisiert die Kirche der faulen Kompromisse.

This third rider symbolizes the church of lazy compromises.

Die Bibel als alleinige Richtschnur des Glaubens wurde aufgegeben.

The Bible as the sole guideline of faith has been abandoned.

Die Erlösung durch Christus wurde durch Anordnungen der Kirche ersetzt,

The redemption through Christ was replaced by the ordinances of the church.

und die Lehren von den Aposteln, die Lehre Jesu,

and the teachings of the apostles, the teaching of Jesus,

sie wurde durch andere Lehren zum Teil ersetzt,

zum Teil wurden andere Lehren hinzugefügt.

In part, other teachings were added.

Ich denke hier an die Lehre zum Beispiel von der unsterblichen Seele des Menschen,

Oder ich denke auch an die Verehrung von Menschen,

von sogenannten Heiligen, oder auch an die Verehrung von bestimmten Gegenständen,

of so-called saints, or also to the veneration of certain objects,

diesen Reliquienkult, wie wir ihn nennen.

this cult of relics, as we call it.

Auch das ist eine Lehre, die damals mit hineingekommen ist in diese christliche Kirche.

This is also a lesson that was incorporated into this Christian church at that time.

Auch die Veränderung der Glaubenstaufe,

Also the change of the faith baptism,

dass man also nicht mehr den getauft hat,

that one no longer baptized, therefore,

der wirklich aus Glauben heraus Jesus nachfolgen wollte oder will,

who truly wanted or wants to follow Jesus out of faith,

sondern auch die Säuglinge,

but also the infants,

die wurden getauft, die noch gar keine Entscheidung treffen konnten für Gott.

They were baptized, even though they could not make a decision for God at all.

Auch sie hat man getauft, und die Taufpaten, die Eltern und andere

haben dann für diese Kinder die Verantwortung übernommen.

Auch das ist nicht biblisch.

That is also not biblical.

Oder auch die Verlegung des biblischen Sabbats,

des siebenten Tages der Woche, auf den Sonntag.

Das sind alles Lehren, von denen die Apostel nichts gewusst haben.

These are all teachings of which the apostles knew nothing.

Nun,

Well,

Gott hatte den Menschen seine ewig gültigen Gebote gegeben,

God had given mankind His eternally valid commandments,

damals dem Volk Israel am Berge Sinai,

then to the people of Israel at Mount Sinai,

hunderte Jahre vor Christus.

hundreds of years before Christ.

In der Bibel sind Gottes Wahrheiten offenbart,

In the Bible, God's truths are revealed,

Gottes Wille steht drin.

God's will is written in it.

Und Jesus hat diese Wahrheiten uns vorgelebt.

And Jesus has exemplified these truths for us.

Er hat einmal gesagt, ich bin nicht gekommen,

He once said, I did not come,

diese Wahrheiten zu verändern oder ungültig zu machen,

to change or invalidate these truths,

sondern ich bin gekommen,

but I have come,

kommen, um diese Wahrheiten zu erfüllen.

come to fulfill these truths.

Und er meint damit auch die Gebote Gottes, den Gehorsam Gott gegenüber.

And he means by that the commandments of God, the obedience to God.

Und Jesus ruft seinen Nachfolger auf, im Johannes 14 steht es, Vers 15,

And Jesus calls his follower, it is written in John 14, verse 15,

Wenn ihr mich lieb habt, dann werdet auch ihr meine Gebote halten.

If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

Nun in der Offenbarung wird auch von einem vierten Reiter berichtet,

in Offenbarung Kapitel 6, Vers 7 und 8, da steht,

Und ihnen wurde Macht gegeben, über den vierten Teil der Erde zu töten,

And power was given to them to kill a fourth part of the earth.

mit Schwert und Hunger und Pest und durch die Wilden,

with sword and hunger and plague and through the wilds,

und die wilden Tiere auf Erden.

and the wild animals on Earth.

Dieser vierte Reiter symbolisiert die tote Kirche.

This fourth rider symbolizes the dead church.

In dieser Phase der Kirchengeschichte kam es zur Vereinigung von Kirche und Staat.

In this phase of church history, there was a union of church and state.

Die römische Kirche übernahm in vielen der Politik die Führungsrolle.

The Roman Church took a leading role in many areas of politics.

die wollen sich nicht den Wahrheiten des Wortes Gottes verschließen.

They do not want to shut themselves off from the truths of the Word of God.

Sie sagen Ja zu Jesus und werden Teil dieser weltweiten Familie.

They say yes to Jesus and become part of this worldwide family.

Wollen sie das? Wollen wir das?

Do they want that? Do we want that?

Jesus gehorsam sein, seinen Willen tun.

Jesus being obedient, doing His will.

Er hatte sich so sehr für ihn gebeten, dass er sich für ihn gebeten hat.

He had asked so much for him that he asked for him.

Er hatte sich sehr einen Sohn gewünscht, den er in seinen Schäferberuf einführen wollte.

He had hoped very much for a son whom he wanted to introduce to his shepherd profession.

Naja, dann wird es eben mein Sohn sein, meinte der Vater.

"Well, then it will be my son," said the father.

Als das Kind heranwuchs, dann nahm er sie mehr und mehr in das Schäferdasein mit hinein, seine Tochter.

As the child grew up, he increasingly took her into the life of a shepherd, his daughter.

Er brachte ihr bei, wie man die Schafe versorgt, was man tut, wenn sie krank sind oder Junge bekommen.

He taught her how to take care of the sheep, what to do when they are sick or give birth.

Und er lehrte sie seinen Hirtenruf.

And he taught them his shepherd's call.

Auf den die Tiere hörten, wenn er weiterziehen wollte.

To which the animals listened when he wanted to move on.

Und als das Mädchen herangewachsen war, da drängten Verwandte darauf, dass sie doch eine ordentliche Bildung bekommen müsse.

And when the girl had grown up, relatives insisted that she should receive a proper education.

Was soll das, eine Hirtin zu sein?

What is the point of being a shepherdess?

Und die Eltern sahen das schließlich ein und schickten das Mädchen nach Glasgow.

And the parents finally realized this and sent the girl to Glasgow.

Anfangs schrieb sie jede Woche, dann jeden Monat und schließlich dann nur noch einmal im Jahr.

At first, she wrote every week, then every month, and finally only once a year.

Und dann hörten die Eltern nichts mehr von ihr.

And then the parents heard nothing more from her.

Ein junger Mann aus dem Dorf hatte sie in der Großstadt zwar einmal zufällig getroffen,

A young man from the village had met her by chance in the big city once,

aber die armen Eltern wurden über ihrem Schweigen immer unruhiger.

But the poor parents became increasingly restless in their silence.

Wo ist unsere Tochter? Was macht sie?

Where is our daughter? What is she doing?

Und schließlich, da raffte sich der alte Vater auf und meinte, ich werde hinuntergehen und nach unserer Tochter sehen.

And finally, the old father gathered himself and said, I will go down and see our daughter.

Und darauf meinte seine Frau,

And in response, his wife said,

Du bist ja seit Ewigkeiten nicht mehr in der Großstadt gewesen.

You haven't been to the big city in ages.

Du hast nicht einmal etwas zum Anziehen für die Stadt.

You don't even have anything to wear for the city.

Wie willst du dort zurechtkommen?

How do you plan to manage there?

Aber er war entschlossen und ging.

But he was determined and went.

Er ging einfach wie er war in seiner Schäferkleidung.

He simply went as he was in his shepherd's clothing.

Und schließlich in Glasgow angekommen, erkundigte er sich zuerst bei der letzten Anschrift, dann bei der Polizei.

And finally arriving in Glasgow, he first inquired at the last address, then at the police.

Aber nirgends konnte man ihm weiterhelfen.

But nowhere could they help him further.

Man verwies ihn auf das Rotlichtviertel der Stadt, weil dort am ehesten ein verschwundenes Mädchen zu finden wäre.

He was referred to the city's red-light district, as it was the most likely place to find a missing girl.

Aber wie sollte er dort suchen?

But how should he search there?

Und er war müde und traurig.

And he was tired and sad.

Und so lief er, dieser alte Mann, durch die Straßen.

And so he walked, this old man, through the streets.

Er sehnte sich zurück in die Zeiten, wo er mit seiner kleinen Tochter noch bei den Schafherden war.

He longed back to the times when he was with his little daughter among the sheep herds.

Was war aus seinem einzigen Kind geworden, das er so liebte?

What had become of his only child, whom he loved so much?

Und da kam ihm ein Gedanke.

And then a thought occurred to him.

Nämlich seinen Hürdenruf erschallen zu lassen.

Namely to let his hurdle call resound.

Und nun lief er nicht mehr stumm in seiner Schäferkleidung durch die Straßen,

And now he no longer walked silently through the streets in his shepherd's clothes,

sondern er ließ laut seinen Ruf ertönen und die Passanten drehten sich um,

but he let his call sound loudly and the passersby turned around,

die Fenster gingen auf und sonst gar nichts.

The windows opened and nothing else.

In einer verrauchten Kaschemme, da saßen einige Leute zusammen und spielten Karten.

In a smoky dive, some people were sitting together and playing cards.

Naja, und der Alkohol fing schon bei mir an.

Well, and the alcohol started with me.

Er fing bei manchen an, seinen Tribut zu fordern, mitten im Spiel.

He started to demand his tribute from some in the middle of the game.

Da hielt eine junge Frau plötzlich inne.

Suddenly, a young woman stopped.

Was war das?

What was that?

Nichts.

Nothing.

Was weiß ich.

What do I know.

Spiel weiter, du bist dran, ließ sich einer der Mitarbeiter dann vernehmen.

"Keep playing, it's your turn," one of the employees could then be heard saying.

Und zögernd nahm sie das Spiel wieder auf.

And hesitantly she resumed the game.

Aber da war es schon wieder.

But there it was again.

Und jetzt warf sie die Karten auf den Tisch und lief zur Tür.

And now she threw the cards on the table and ran to the door.

Sie schaute die Straße nach links und nach rechts.

She looked left and right down the street.

Und da hinten sah sie einen alten...

And back there, she saw an old...

Einen alten Mann in der Schäferkleidung.

An old man in shepherd's clothing.

Und wieder stieß er seinen Ruf aus und da lief sie los ihm hinterher.

And again he called out his name, and she ran after him.

Vater, Vater!

Father, Father!

Mit Tränen in den Augen lagen sich die beiden in den Armen.

With tears in their eyes, the two embraced each other.

Der Vater hatte seine geliebte Tochter wiedergefunden.

The father had found his beloved daughter again.

Die Frage, höre ich, hören Sie, hören wir, wie Jesus mit seiner warmen Stimme,

The question, I hear, do you hear, do we hear, how Jesus speaks with his warm voice,

ruft, er meint sie ganz persönlich.

He calls, he means her quite personally.

Jesus wünscht sich so sehr, dass der Mensch wieder nach Hause kommt.

Jesus longs so much for humans to come home again.

Er hat eine Bewegung in dieser Zeit.

He has a movement during this time.

Er hat Menschen, die an Jesus glauben, die auf ihn warten.

He has people who believe in Jesus, who are waiting for him.

Wollen sie einem liebenden Werben antworten und Teil seiner weltweiten Familie werden?

Do you want to respond to a loving invitation and become part of his worldwide family?

Das ist die Frage.

That is the question.

Jesus ruft.

Jesus calls.

Welchen guten Grund gibt es, diesen Ruf nicht anzunehmen?

What good reason is there not to accept this call?

Und ich wünsche es Ihnen.

Ich wünsche es jedem, diesen Jesus anzunehmen, ihm zu vertrauen,

I wish for everyone to accept this Jesus, to trust in him,

ihm die Ehre zu geben, ihm nachzufolgen.

to give him the honor of following him.

Und sich den Menschen anzuschließen, oder soll ich sagen, der Kirche anzuschließen,

And to join the people, or should I say, to join the church,

die das tut, die Gott gehorsam ist, die seinen Willen tut.

who does that, who is obedient to God, who does His will.

Menschen, die nicht so bleiben wollen, wie sie sind, die sich verändern wollen durch die Kraft Jesu.

People who do not want to stay as they are, who want to change through the power of Jesus.

Dass sie sich dieser Bewegung anschließen, das wünsche ich Ihnen.

I wish for you to join this movement.

Und Gott schenke Ihnen seinen Segen dazu.

And God grant you His blessing for that.
