Liebe Hörerinnen und Hörer, im heutigen Tagesevangelium berichtet der Evangelist Lukas von der Heilung eines Mannes mit einer verdorrten Hand.

Dear listeners, in today's daily gospel, the evangelist Luke recounts the healing of a man with a withered hand.

Jesus heilte ihm auch am Sabbat, was den Widerstand der Pharisäer hervorgerufen hat.

Jesus also healed him on the Sabbath, which provoked the opposition of the Pharisees.

Denn am Sabbat bat Jesus diesen behinderten Mann, sich in die Mitte zu stellen.

For on the Sabbath, Jesus asked this disabled man to stand in the middle.

Und das heißt, er stand auf und trat vor. In der Mitte so vieler Menschen stand ein Behinderter.

And that means he got up and stepped forward. In the midst of so many people stood a disabled person.

Mir ist heute Morgen beim Evangelium, als ich diese Stelle betrachtet habe, eingefallen, wie sehr in den letzten zwölf Tagen Menschen mit Körperbehinderung im Blickpunkt gestanden haben, nämlich bei den Paralympics in Paris.

This morning, while I was reflecting on the Gospel, it occurred to me how much people with physical disabilities have been in the spotlight over the past twelve days, namely at the Paralympics in Paris.

Menschen, die von Geburt an eine Beeinträchtigung haben, welche durch einen Unfall oder eine Krankheit beeinträchtigt sind, lassen sich nicht unterkriegen, sondern machen weiter Sport.

People who have a disability from birth or who are affected by an accident or illness do not let themselves be defeated, but continue to participate in sports.

Und wie schön ist es, dass sie im Blickpunkt der Weltöffentlichkeit stehen.

And how wonderful it is that they are in the spotlight of world public opinion.

Diese Paralympischen Spiele haben eine wirkliche Nachwirkung in die Gesellschaften hinein für die Menschen,

These Paralympic Games have a real impact on societies for the people.

die auf Gehhilfen, auf einen Rollator, auf einen Rollstuhl angewiesen sind.

those who rely on walking aids, a walker, or a wheelchair.

Viele werden hellsichtiger für die Barrieren, die sich ihnen in den Weg stellen, sind bereit, ihnen zu helfen oder ihnen das Leben so zu gestalten, dass sie sich selbst helfen können.

Many will become more clairvoyant about the barriers that stand in their way, are willing to help them, or to shape their lives in such a way that they can help themselves.

Jesus konnte noch mehr, als diesen behinderten Mann in die Mitte zu stellen, als ihm die Aufmerksamkeit aller zu geben.

Jesus could do even more than just place this disabled man in the middle and give him the attention of everyone.

Er konnte ihn heilen.

He could heal him.

Und dieser Wunsch, die Menschen, die an den Grenzen ihres Lebens sind, zu heilen, war für Jesus so stark, dass er deswegen auch einen Konflikt mit den Pharisäern in Kauf genommen hat.

And this wish to heal the people at the edges of their lives was so strong for Jesus that he was willing to confront the Pharisees because of it.

Mit dem einfachen Hinweis, am Sabbat ist es doch wohl erlaubt, Gutes zu tun oder ein Leben zu retten, das ist doch auf jeden Fall im Sinne Gottes.

With the simple note that it is certainly allowed to do good or save a life on the Sabbath, that is definitely in line with God's will.

Und so hat er aus der Sicht der Pharisäer ärztliche Arbeit verrichtet, indem er den Mann geheilt hat, aber er hat ihm auch Heil, Beistand, Zuwendung Gottes vermittelt.

And so, from the perspective of the Pharisees, he performed medical work by healing the man, but he also conveyed healing, support, and the attention of God to him.

Das können wir mit unserem christlichen Glauben allen Menschen bringen, die an Grenzen ihrer körperlichen Fähigkeiten gekommen sind.

We can bring this with our Christian faith to all people who have reached the limits of their physical abilities.

Nicht nur, dass sie nicht vergessen gehen, dass man ihr Schicksal wahrnimmt,

Not only that they do not go unnoticed, that one perceives their fate,

sondern ihnen auch zu zeigen, wie sehr Gott an ihrer Seite steht.

but also to show them how much God stands by their side.

Wie sehr er mitleidet, wenn die Schöpfung, wie Paulus es sagt, seufzt und ächzt und ihnen Begleiter, Heiland sein möchte.

How deeply he empathizes when creation, as Paul says, groans and suffers, and wants to be their companion, their Savior.

Ich wünsche all jenen unter Ihnen, die unter körperlichen Beeinträchtigungen zu leiden haben,

I wish all those among you who are suffering from physical impairments,

einerseits die Erkenntnis, dass in unserer Gesellschaft,

on one hand the realization that in our society,

dass sie nicht vergessen sind, vor allen Dingen aber der Glaube,

that they are not forgotten, above all the belief,

dass der Heiland Jesus Christus auch bei ihnen ist.

that the Savior Jesus Christ is also with them.

Auch wenn er nicht, wie durch ein Wunder, die volle Gesundheit wiederherstellen kann,

Even if he cannot, like through a miracle, restore full health,

dass er doch bei ihnen ist und mit ihnen geht.

that he is indeed with them and goes with them.

In diesem Sinne wünsche ich Ihnen allen Gottes reichen Segen.

In this sense, I wish you all God's rich blessings.

Der Herr sei mit euch und mit deinem Geiste.

The Lord be with you and with your spirit.

Der Name des Herrn sei gepriesen.

Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Nun an bis in Ewigkeit.

Now and forevermore.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,

der Himmel und Erde erschaffen hat.

who created heaven and earth.
