前回一回休みましたがまず全然関係ないというかあの 授業とはちょっと関係ない雑談から2つ入ります

I missed the previous class, but first, I’ll start with two casual topics that are completely unrelated to the class.

まず一つ昨日の ss おとといの ss ww っていうのかななかったらしいぞ 略さない方が早いかもしれないんだけれど聞きに行った人どれぐらいいますか

First of all, it seems that there wasn't a SS yesterday and the day before yesterday. It might be quicker not to abbreviate it, but how many people went to ask?

あの僕ちょっと仕事が忙しくてゲネだけリハーサルだけ聞いて帰っちゃったんですけど 本番までちゃんと聞いた

I was a bit busy with work, so I only listened to the rehearsal before leaving, but I made sure to listen properly before the actual performance.

本番になるとまたあのああいうプロフェッショナルの人たちってサウンド違うでしょ 多分リハーサルで大すごいって一瞬

When it's the real thing, those professionals' sound is different, right? During the rehearsal, it's probably amazing for a moment.

思ったかもしれないけれどあの1回目やっただけでいいじゃんと思って だけどあの人たちは2回目やると自動的にもっと上手くなっているのでそれでもしっかり

You might have thought that just doing it once was enough, but those people automatically get better by doing it a second time, so they take it seriously.

セーブしていて本番になるともっとパワフルになる あれがプロフェッショナルんだよねで2回目になるとつまり1回やってそれでもほとんどあっ

When you save it, you become even more powerful when it’s time for the real thing. That's what being a professional is, right? And when it comes to the second time, in other words, after doing it once, it's still almost like...

ちゃってるんだけれど 2回目やるときはあの

もっと自動的にバランスが合うんだよね もっといろんなことがあってくるんだよね

It balances out more automatically, and various things come into play.

プロフェッショナルの人たちってねあのそうなんですね リハーサルとあのゲネプロゲネプロと本番というのはまた少し違っていて本番にベストに

Professionals, you know, the thing is that rehearsals and dress rehearsals are slightly different, and we want to be at our best for the actual performance.

なるようにしっかり持っていくんです あれとってもいい企画だと思うので年に何回かあるのでぜひ聞きに行ってみてください

When I found out that the Fennell edition was released while I was here with the Freshman Wind Ensemble a long time ago, I had it bought from the library and wondered what it would be like, so I tried it out.

あのフェネルさんの癖をよく知らないと使っていて大変危険なバージョンなんですね であのちょっとミスプリもありましたしねっていうのはああいうエディションというのは

That's a very dangerous version to use if you don't know Mr. Fenner's quirks well. There were also some typographical errors, so that's what that edition is like.

個人のものというか個人の見感見解が入った楽譜なんですね つまり例えば一番最初のところに店舗が88ともう4分88と書かれちゃっている

It's a score that includes individual perspectives and interpretations. For example, at the very beginning, it says "88" for the store and "4/4 88."

それはあのフェネルさん自身の考え だったっ

That was Mr. Fener's own thought.

であのバージョンの一番の問題は あれなんですねあの

そのエディションがこれ授業でもお話ししたけれども フェネルさんが亡くなった後で出してるっていうそういう問題があるんですよ本人が確認

This edition was discussed in class as well, but there is the issue that it was published after Mr. Fenel passed away, so there is the problem of whether he confirmed it himself.

していないって言う で本人自身はそういう自分のエディションを作ろうというそういうつもりは多分なかったと思うん

交流を持っていまして

I have been in contact.

そういう関係もあって

Due to that kind of relationship.

僕が指揮で招かれて行ってまいりました

I was invited and went as a conductor.

あちらのバンドってまだ発展途上的なところがあって

That band over there still has some developmental aspects.

正直言ってうまくないです

To be honest, it's not good.

うまくないっていうか

It's not that it's bad, but...

まだアンサンブルがしっかり整わないところとか

There are still areas where the ensemble isn't properly put together.

もういろいろあります

There are already various things.

だけどね

However, you know.

いつまで練習してても元気なんだね

You seem energetic no matter how long you practice, don't you?

アジアの人たち

People of Asia

日本人も元気なのは知ってるけれど

I know that Japanese people are also doing well, but...

とにかく元気です

I'm doing well, anyway.

夜10時ぐらいまで練習して

Practice until around 10 PM.

パーカッション出来が悪かったから

Because the percussion was poorly done.

0時半まで練習してたそうなんですけど

I heard they were practicing until 12:30.

なんか大学内が24時間出入りできるような感じでした

It felt like the university was accessible 24 hours a day.

本番になるともうやたら

When it comes to the real thing, it's just overly...

もう今までせっかく言ったこと全部忘れてみたいな感じで

It feels like I want to just forget everything I've said up until now.

もうバーンと一気に元気よくやってくれちゃいましたけれども

You went ahead and did it all at once with great energy, didn't you?

これからやはりアジアの吹奏楽って

From now on, Asian wind orchestras are indeed...

すごく発展すると思うので

で来年の7月はスペインに行くと

1週間集まって合宿して練習して

Practicing together for a week in a training camp.

最終日にコンサートをやるっていうのがあるんです

There will be a concert on the last day.

多分登録料が100ドル1万円8000円ぐらい

Maybe the registration fee is about $100 or 8,000 yen.

それから渡航費だけ自分で持てばいい

After that, you only need to cover your own travel expenses.

飛行機代だけ自分で持てばいい

You only need to cover the cost of the plane ticket yourself.

そうするとアコモデーション

向こうに行って滞在費食費全部出してくれる

僕も2回ほど指揮させてもらったことがあるんだけれど

学生たちすごく楽しくやってます

もう今や香港の吹奏楽のトップなんですね

吹奏楽協会の会長をやってるというそういう人で

He is someone who serves as the president of the wind orchestra association.

今度は僕は彼に招かれて

This time I was invited by him.

2月には香港に行って指揮をしてきます

In February, I will go to Hong Kong and conduct.

というふうに僕は吹奏楽っていう点で言うと

In terms of concert band, that's how I feel.

もう日本をすっかり離れて

I've completely left Japan now.

毎度毎度話してますが

海外ばっかり目を向けていますので

I'm only paying attention to overseas matters.

いろいろなものを見てくるのは

すごくいいことだと思います

あとまたもう一つ余談になるんだけど

There's one more aside I'd like to mention.

台湾で今回吹奏楽やった時に

When we performed the brass band in Taiwan this time,

ちょうどシンガポールから

Just arrived from Singapore.

バイオリンの先生が来てるよって言うんで

The violin teacher is here, they said.

じゃあ僕のバイオリンと吹奏楽の曲やりましょうって言って

Well then, let's play my violin and concert band piece.

それはここのフレッシュマンのために書いた曲なんだけれど

It's a song I wrote for the freshmen here.

バイオリンの音を聞くことで吹奏楽の音色が変わる

The sound of the violin changes the tone of the brass band.

弦っていうのはこういう表現ができるんだっていうのを

学んでもらおうと思って書いた曲があります
