Then let's do that.

In a relaxed feeling.

I went on a trip to Okayama and Hiroshima.

That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right.

It will disappear, you know.

I see.

That's right.

But it was almost a trip to Hiroshima, right?

Like a part of Okayama.

Yeah, always Naoko.

I was intending to be in Okayama.

It was quite wide in Hiroshima.

It was almost Hiroshima, wasn't it?

Well, more or less...

Isn't it 100% not Hiroshima?

But at first, I got off at Okayama Station.

I feel somewhat satisfied with that.

そう

I see.

It's something really great.

This is it.

Yeah, yeah, this is something done on a whim too.

I don't want to hit the iron.

Find the site.

I was an acquaintance of Chi-chan's.

That's so great!

In the end, strike the iron.

You made a frying pan, didn't you?

Right?

It's called making a frying pan.

I have some kind of plan.

That was really great.

いやー

Well...

なんか

Somehow

It was unexpectedly fun, wasn't it?

Yeah, that was fun!

"Like that during a trip, you know?"

物として

As an object

I thought it would be good if it stays.

It's not just about the experience, you know?

It really lingers, doesn't it?

うん

Yeah.

Heat the iron and strike it.

Firmly shape it into a frying pan.

I will continue to do it, but...

Well, originally that...

Tomonokura Bay

A place with many blacksmiths.

So,

Somehow, it becomes an industry with that.

I did it, so I'll experience it with that.

I said it, but...

Even though both of them made the same frying pan.

Not at all.

The finish is different.

Wow, that really shows your personality, doesn't it?

Hey, wait a minute.

I'm a little bit.

Nao-chan's rough-around-the-edges feeling is better.

I was envious.

That's right.

My frying pan is a mess.

A rough and rugged feeling.

なんか

Something.

It feels rough on the surface because it's been struck.

That's amazing.

Mine feels like a crater.

And somehow the color too

It feels kind of rough.

Well, you see...

This is Chii-chan's.

It's like a craftsmanship or something.

In a more delicate way.

That crater flavor is a bit subdued.

It's gentle/sloping.

It has a somewhat mellow feeling to the color.

なんか

Somehow

It shows your personality, doesn't it?

That was kind of interesting, wasn't it?

You made it!

Yeah, Naoko was great.

That's the way I prefer it.

If you were a customer, you wouldn't buy it.

あのー

Um...

If you make fried eggs with plenty of oil like that...

It's incredibly crispy and really delicious!

あと

Later.

I did it in reverse, though.

It seems my driving was a bit too frightening.

Chi-chan screaming multiple times and such.

あと

"After"

It was really scary.

That was bad, I was really scared.

Because I was holding onto the seatbelt the whole time.

Like this.

I was watching.

I'm scared; I thought I might die.

With all that said, we're all safe.

尾道

Onomichi

It's Onomichi, right?

Arrived in Onomichi.

So, it was like, just walking around leisurely, browsing through some nice shops.

This road was nice on all four sides, wasn't it?

Four sides, right?

A bookstore?

That's right.

There's probably a bookstore called "Shihen."

I mean, that whole area is really stylish, isn’t it?

Well, it was around the time when the COVID situation was calming down, and they were having festivals and such, so I felt like, wow, it was my first trip in a while, and that was really fun.

Also, the city of Onomichi felt very lively and I really liked it.

How can I put this, ten years ago,

Somehow, I've been there about twice, and it feels like the town is livelier than it was 10 years ago, in a way.

Hmm.

Well, there are quite a few young people, and there are also many foreigners who seem to have settled down here; just from their appearance, there were quite a few energetic-looking people too.

It seems that the events are quite lively, with festivals and various local shops setting up booth from different regions.

Amazing, it's like the local community is...

Being a baby feels really great, and somehow, it made me feel really good.

Hmm.

Hey, that's true.

It was nice.

That's right.

You have a knack for making the most of old things.

Um, it's the same with the accommodation we stayed at this time.

No, well, I really want to stay at that inn over there,

そう。

That's right.

I want to go there.

I didn't want to, but I ended up staying.

No, that's good!

Yes, I stayed at Onomichi Log.

It was amazing.

It feels like I can hold on for about two more days.

I'm glad for you!

Really, a lodge named Log.

It was a nice inn.

It was originally some kind of apartment, you know.

うん。

Yeah.

It felt somewhat like a public housing project.

Uh-huh.

It's really an old public housing in Japan.

It's like an old Japanese public housing structure, leaving only the external skeleton of the building and completely renovating it.

うん。

Yeah.

It seems that an overseas architecture studio is involved.

It's a lovely renovated accommodation that takes into account the history of Onomichi as well.

Hey.

うん。

Yeah.

Well, um, how should I put this...

It's about the feelings or affection that the people in architecture have.

うん。

Yeah.

I can really feel that, like, the kind of thing you create when you make something, like, what do you call it, to create an inn.

There's a book that publicly shares records about the process of making things, aimed at customers, and it's quite easy to read. When I see something like that, it’s filled with amazing attention to detail, and I found it interesting.

ね。

Okay.

It seems like I want to have something like a blueprint or an image that I can use in this way, and it's like a bunch of them are posted everywhere.

ね。

Yeah.

Creating a space is really nice, and as a designer, I was reading it with envy, thinking that it’s amazing to create something that lasts forever.

Ah, so that's what it was.

うん。

Yeah.

Yes, it's like a live event where we gather design collections that were inspired by books or things related to creating accommodations.

うん。

Yeah.

There's a place called the library that can also be reserved for private use, and Chi-chan was really focused on reading there for quite a while. I was wondering what she was thinking, but I got pretty bored and was looking around at various things. But then I thought, "I see."

Yeah. That might have taken the most time.

Hey, that was great! The food was delicious too, right?

Well, you know, it's like with the furniture too.

The interior is like that as well.

It's the same with food.

Hmm, it feels like I just simply like it.

Yeah, you know, there was a strong obsession with it.

Soft feeling.

Hey, when I think about how they’re properly using local vegetables and carefully choosing each ingredient, it really creates a comfortable space, doesn’t it?

Hmm.

It's really delicious, and it seems like the recipe was supervised by a proper culinary expert. That dish I had there with the mullet roe on top of the green beans—no, not green beans, it was asparagus.

うん。

Yeah.

The asparagus I ate over there was the best asparagus I've ever had in my life.

Hey.

That's good!

It was really delicious.

Also, in the morning, they serve pancakes, and they sprinkle some sliced cheese on top of the pancakes, and that is really delicious, sweet and savory.

That was delicious, wasn't it?

It was delicious. That was definitely one of the top flavors in my life.

Well...

Hey.

Yeah, that's true. Even the menu order sheets are printed on some nice paper and all.

Like, and also,

Like the dishes that the food comes in, you know?

Yes. So, I've been really into things like blown glass vessels and cups, and I've been spending the last few months just researching and sending information about that person non-stop.

Um, yes, I might not be as much as Chii-chan, but I'm really curious and I've done a lot of research. It's quite difficult; unless I hold a solo exhibition, I have to sell it.

うん。

Yeah.

However, it seems like they wouldn't sell unless they have a menu or something, and they hardly do it. On the way back, we were just exchanging that information, just the two of us.

Wow, really, wow, his name is Hideki Yokoyama, but wow, that's great, I really want it, seriously, I definitely want to buy it this year.

I also want to buy this, the small bucket-sized one, when it's released.

うん。

Yeah.

It's really cute.

ね。

Yeah.

うん。

Yeah.

Well, there are some really good-looking older guys being made, so if any of you are interested, please check it out.

Sure.

Are you quite elderly?

No, but it's not like that, it's not 80 or 70. Isn't it in the 50s or 60s?

I wonder. But, yes, I hardly ever do exhibitions, so please. It's super cute.

Yeah. I've become a little enchanted.

Hey, that was lovely, wasn't it?

Hmm.

Hey. Yeah, I kind of want to go there again.

Yeah, it was really good. I truly felt it was great overall, including the frying pan and the logs.

うん。

Yeah.

Well, there wasn't anything too flashy like "woohoo," but I felt like there was something quietly memorable about it, and I ended up bragging quite a bit about it to my colleagues.

Hey.

Ah, really. I'm so happy, somehow.

Then, someone told me that it was really great, and now I feel like my good memories have doubled.

Yes. So, I was holding a camera, a film camera, and taking pictures for a long time, and I had a really amazing miraculous shot of Nao-chan that I took in the log, so I thought I would give it as a little present.

Yes. Um, I am using it as love for various people.

I'm glad you liked it.

Hahaha.

No, that's a nice photo, isn't it? I kind of patted myself on the back when I saw it.

Wow, it was the most transparent photo I've ever had in my life. Really, thank you so much.

Well, I'm glad.

Well...

No, films are really fun, aren't they?

Really good.

うん。

Yeah.

Yeah, I really like film more.

Yeah. I saw Chii-chan's original works, and I was inspired, so I went ahead and bought a disposable camera.

Ah, that's good, isn't it?

First of all, well then, it's about time.

Yeah. I think it's good.

Oh, I see. Well, I’d like to stop for a moment and take another day to look at the blueprints again.

Hehe. I've been watching you quite a bit.

Hmph.

Thoroughly.

Yeah, I really admire them. It's kind of enviable, being an architect.

Oh, do you mean leaving something behind?

Well, there's a possibility that the things I've designed, like the temple, could be standing for a long time.

I see.

There's a sense of romance, isn't there?

Romance, huh? I'm not really the type to feel that way.

うん。

Yeah.

No way. I mean, building a structure involves concepts, lifestyles, and so on, and you have to consider it over a considerable long span of time.

うん。

Yeah.

That's why I'm going to make it.

うん。

Yeah.

To become a city that is loved, or something like that.

うん。

Yeah.

Well, you know, it's exciting in a way, and each step, like building from the foundation and painting the walls, is quite interesting to watch.

うん。

Yeah.

It's like, it feels the most accomplished, you know?

Certainly. There is indeed a sense of accomplishment, isn't there?

うん。

Yeah.
