今日はタイタニック号沈没事件についてちょっとお話をしていきたいと思っていて

I would like to talk a little about the sinking of the Titanic today.

ただタイタニック号沈没事件はもう多くの人がもちろん知っていると思いますし映画にもなってますのでかなり美談として知られている部分はあるかなというふうに思うんですけれども

However, I think many people are already aware of the sinking of the Titanic, and since it has been made into a movie, there are parts of it that are known as quite a beautiful story.

ちょっとその裏側みたいなところですねお話ししていきたいなというところと

I would like to talk about aspects related to that, a bit behind the scenes.

あとは実はそこに載っていた唯一の日本人その方についても少し触れていきたいなというふうに思っています

タイタニック号沈没事件

The sinking of the Titanic.

まずはじめにほとんどの方知っていらっしゃるかと思いますが簡単にタイタニック号沈没のあったあの事件ですね概要をお話ししたいと思います

First of all, I think most people are already aware, but I would like to briefly discuss the overview of the incident of the sinking of the Titanic.

当時世界最大の客船船であったタイタニック号はですね1912年の4月14日の夜ですね23時40分に氷山に衝突して沈没をしてしまったというような事件になっています

The Titanic, which was the largest passenger ship in the world at the time, collided with an iceberg at 11:40 PM on the night of April 14, 1912, resulting in its sinking.

この時には船には2224人乗せていたと言われています

結果的にはその氷山にぶつかった2時間20分で沈没してしまったというような事件になっています

As a result, it has become an incident in which the ship sank after hitting the iceberg in just 2 hours and 20 minutes.

2時間20分後には沈没してしまってですね1514人が亡くなっていて710人は生還したというふうに言われています

実はこの船体沈没の進行予想よりもかなり早かったというふうに言われていて

It is said that the progression of the sinking of this hull was much faster than expected.

やむなくボートにはですね救助ボートの方にですね女性と幼い子供が優先的に乗せられていて多くの男性は強制的に排除されていました

Reluctantly, on the boat, women and young children were prioritized to board the rescue boat, while many men were forcibly removed.

なので救助ボートは来ているんですけれども男性よりもお子さんだったりとか女性というのを優先的に乗せるというような状況になっています

So, the rescue boats are arriving, but there's a situation where children and women are being prioritized for boarding over men.

というようなところが実態としてあったというところでございます

This is where the reality was as such.

ただですねこの船に乗っていたクルーも救助活動には不慣れな人が多くてですね

However, many of the crew members on this ship were not experienced in rescue operations.

実際まあせっかく救助来たのにも関わらずそのボートには定員に満たないまま出発してしまうボートもあったというふうに言われているんです

It's said that despite the fact that rescue came, there were boats that set off without reaching full capacity.

タイタニックはそのまま1000人以上乗せてですね沈んでいってしまったというところが本当に残酷な事件であったというところなんですけれども

The Titanic, carrying over 1,000 people, sank as it was, which was truly a cruel event.

ただですねこちらのタイタニックの沈没事故に関しましては

いくつかの謎が含まれているというふうに言われているんです

It is said that it contains several mysteries.

知らない方も多いんじゃないかなと思いますのでご紹介していきたいと思います

まずこのタイタニック号ですね実は氷山が接近しているという知らせは何度も船に送られてきていたんですけれども

First of all, regarding the Titanic, there were actually multiple warnings sent to the ship about icebergs approaching.

こちらに乗っていたスミス船長やそのクルーたちはですねこの警告に返事は出さず無視をしていたというところがあります

Captain Smith and his crew, who were on board here, took no notice of this warning and ignored it.

警告があったにも関わらず無視をしてそのまま船航を続けていた

Despite the warning, they ignored it and continued sailing as if nothing happened.

これは氷山に当たろうとしていたんじゃないかなとそういうふうに見えるというようなことも言われています

また明らかに救命ボートが足りていなかったというふうに言われています

タイタニック号には救命ボート68隻乗りますし乗せるはずだったんですけれども

The Titanic was supposed to have 68 lifeboats on board.

実際に乗せたのは20隻だったということで言われています

It is said that in reality, 20 ships were actually carried on board.

これは理由がはっきりわかっていて見た目が乱雑に見えるからということだったんですけれども

救命ボートなので見た目を優先しています

よかったのかというところですねちょっと気になるポイントかなと思います

ここからもう少しちょっと闇が深そうな疑惑があるんですけれども

一つはオーナーとその関係者が出発直前にキャンセルしていたというふうに言われているんです

実はこのタイタニック号のオーナーは知る人と知るというか

知っている方多いんじゃないかなと思いますけれども

I think many people might know this.

JPモルガンという人物でした

It was a person named JP Morgan.

そのこのモルガンですねタイタニック号乗船する予定だったんですけれども

That Morgan was scheduled to board the Titanic, you know.

直前になってキャンセルをしていたというふうに言われていますし

It is said that the cancellation was made just before the event.

またモルガンが保有する美術品何度も積み込み予定だったんですが

こちらの積み込みもキャンセルしています

モルガンはタイタニック号に乗らなかった理由は病気だというふうに語っておりましたが

タイタニック号にはもう一つオリンピック号という非常に似た船があったんですね

このオリンピック号は実はこれまでの航海の中で何度も事故を起こしていて

傷がついていたんですけれども保険がかけられてなくてですね

これも都市伝説的な話ですが実はタイタニック号とオリンピック号はすり替えられていた可能性があるというふうに言われています

この今お伝えした2つですねオーナーが乗らなかったこと

極限状態であったがあくまでもレディファースを貫いたと

Although it was an extreme situation, they maintained a commitment to the ladies first principle.

そして美談で世界中で広まっておりましたので

And it had been spreading all over the world as a beautiful story.

そんな中でボートに乗って生きて帰ってきたというところに関してはですね

In that context, regarding the fact that I got on a boat and returned alive...

結果的に世間国民から反感をかってしまったと言われていて

It is said that it ended up garnering resentment from the public.
