17日間アフリカの旅に行ってこようと思っています

I am thinking of going on a 17-day trip to Africa.

I haven't been able to take it yet.

今日アフリカ行きの出発の日を迎えたので

Today marks the day of departure for Africa.

まあ今日からのアフリカ旅なんですけれども

Well, today marks the beginning of my trip to Africa.

なんでアフリカに行くのか

Why are you going to Africa?

そのきっかけは何だったのか

What was the trigger for that?

なんですけども

But you see...

えーと

まずきっかけですね

First, what triggered it?

去年の10月にアフリカ観光大使をしている

I have been an ambassador for African tourism since October of last year.

澤野さんっていう写真家の方との出会いがありまして

I had an encounter with a photographer named Sawano.

えー澤野さんは

Um, Sawano-san is...

地球のネイチャーガイドっていうすごい素晴らしい

It's a really wonderful nature guide of the Earth.

あの貴重な活動されている方なんですけど

That person is engaged in valuable activities.

その澤野さんが撮っている写真の中の一つで

Among the photos taken by Mr. Sawano, one of them...

南アフリカにあるナマクランドっていう

It's called Namakwa Land, located in South Africa.

大地の写真にあのー

In the photo of the earth, um...

瞳見た時に大変感動して魅了されたんですね

I was very moved and captivated when I looked into your eyes.

それはどんな景色かっていうと

What kind of scenery is it, you ask?

アフリカのそこの大地っていうのはすごく乾燥していて

The land over there in Africa is extremely dry.

何もないような荒野なんだけど

It's a barren wasteland as if there is nothing at all.

雨季のある一時的?

Is it a temporary rainy season?

一時期だけ

Just for a while.

そのー

Um...

まあ視界一面に

Well, in the entire field of vision.

原生のお花が咲き乱れるっていうすごいね

It's amazing that wildflowers are blooming abundantly.

あの澤野さんが名付けた名前だと

It's a name that Mr. Sawano gave.

神々の花園っていう名前もついてるんですけども

It’s also called the Garden of the Gods.

何年か前にNHKのなんかドキュメンタリー番組でも

A few years ago, on some kind of NHK documentary program...

あのー

Um...

公演があったらしいんですけど

It seems there was a performance.

まあとにかくね

Well, anyway...

この世とは思えないような素晴らしい景色が広がっている

A stunning scenery that seems as if it does not belong to this world unfolds before us.

その大地を撮った写真の写真集を載せていただいて

I would like to include a photo collection of the photographs taken of that land.

ここはぜひ一目

This is definitely worth a glance.

自分の目で見てみたいって思ったわけです

I thought I wanted to see it with my own eyes.

でもう行ってみたい行ってみたいってなったところ

But now I'm in a place where I really want to go and see it.

一年に一度だけど

It's only once a year.

まあ数年で一度行ってみたいって思ったわけです

Well, I thought I would like to try going there once in a few years.

であの日本人もその現地にガイドしてくれるっていうことを

So that Japanese person will also guide us in that area.

なんと30年近くも続けられているそうです

It seems that it has been going on for nearly 30 years.

はいでその30年のアフリカ大使とのコミュニケーションがあるから

Yes, because there has been communication with the African ambassador for those 30 years.

まあ一般で言えば入れないところまで足を踏み込めると

Well, generally speaking, it means being able to step into places that one typically cannot enter.

まずそこに広がる景色はもう想像実施するような美しさがあると

First of all, the scenery that spreads out there has a beauty that is almost beyond imagination.

ということで

In that case

まあそういう行けるツアーっていうか

Well, it's more like a tour that you can actually go on.

まあガイドしていただける機会があるなら

Well, if there is an opportunity for you to guide me...

ぜひ行きたいっていうので

I definitely want to go.

去年の10月に行くことを決心したわけです

The reason I decided to go was in October of last year.

そして今日出発の日を迎えました

And today has arrived, the day of departure.

この間まで個展を開いていたり

I was recently holding a solo exhibition.

仕事もあったりと

There were also jobs.

かなりスケジュールがパツパツにはなっていましたけども

My schedule was quite packed, but...

準備もできていますので

I was able to welcome today with Bantan.

さらにこの1年での

The year since becoming a painter.

その行動の広さとか

活動の領域の広さっていうのが

The breadth of the area of activities is

もう格段に上がったので

It has significantly improved.

うちのお母さんなんて

My mom is just...

ほんとすごい行動力だよねなんて言って

You really have amazing drive, don't you?

アフリカ行きも応援してくれてます

They are also supporting me for my trip to Africa.

私はですね

I am, you see.

妹もいるんですけども

I also have a younger sister.

妹は私の大ファンなので

My little sister is a huge fan of mine.

ストーカーのように応援して

Support me like a stalker.

どこにいるのかって心配しながら

Worrying about where you are.

見守って

Watch over me.

で私の活動を楽しんでいてくれる

And you enjoy my activities.

ほんとね

That's true.

ありがたい家族なんですけど

They're a wonderful family.

あの無事

出発の日を迎えました

帰ることができました
