まず最初に自己紹介をした後に

僕のさっきのインスタでこの間デザインの仕事をしたっていうことを

In my earlier Instagram post, I mentioned that I did some design work the other day.

アーティストとして載せたんですけど

I posted it as an artist.

そのエピソードをもう一度おさらいをして

それに対して田上さんが思ったこととかっていうのを返してもらう

そしてデザインとアートの違いというか

アートがデザインになる時っていうテーマでは

When the theme is when art becomes design,

今回のトークで掲げたんですけど

それにとらわれすぎず

Without being overly caught up in it.

アートとデザインの性質の違いとかっていうのを

主にどんなチームで開発されてるんですか

What kind of team is mainly working on the development?

開発するときは中心には商品企画っていう

When developing, the focus is on product planning.

あらゆる構想を言語化して作っている

I am verbalizing and creating all kinds of concepts.

これをスケジュールに落として

結構デザイナーと一緒に

Pretty much with the designer.

そしてマーケッターの方々と一緒にしながら開発して

And we are developing it together with marketers.

結構私たちは一緒に作っているんですけども

Actually, we are quite a bit together creating it.

一番抽象的なところから商品企画に入り

Starting from the most abstract aspect, we will delve into product planning.

それを自分のものを初期の絵にしたり

Turning that into my own initial drawing.

図表にしたりして

By creating charts or diagrams.

こういう形じゃないですかっていうのを

結構そこにインターフェイスのデザインもありましたし

There was quite a bit of interface design there as well.

造形もちろん形

Of course, shape in sculpture.

ハードウェアのスタイリングっていうのもありましたし

There was also hardware styling.

概念的な設計のところもやってましたね

I was also working on the conceptual design part.

やっぱり結構洗濯機楽しくて私8年洗濯機をやりながら造形作家からね

I really enjoy using the washing machine after 8 years of being a sculptor.

その本業というかメインでやってる仕事も

That main job I do as my primary occupation...

結構上流の方から関わるんですね

It's quite involved from upstream, isn't it?

デザイナーさんって

What about designers?

その形スケッチだけ

Just that shape is a sketch.

先ほど見せてもらったスケッチだけじゃなくて

Not just the sketch I saw earlier, but...

そもそもどういう洗濯機を作るかみたいな

It's about what kind of washing machine to create in the first place.

企画のところから入られてるってのはちょっと意外でした僕も

I was a bit surprised to hear that you came from the planning side as well.

そうですねもう本当にそう

That's true, really.

そうです

結構カーデザイナーとかになると

Once you become a car designer,

本当にスタイリストとしての色が強いので

It really has a strong stylistic color.

結構書き分かれてたりするんですけど

It's written in quite a varied way, though.

めちゃめちゃこっちの話になっちゃう

It's going to turn into a huge conversation on our side.

隠れてるんですよそのアートの力が

最近ではそういうやつはありなく

すごい歴史あるちょっと重たい大企業ですけど

It's a major company with a great history, but it's a bit heavy.

結構経営のトップにデザインから出身の人材が結構入り込んでいるというか

There are quite a few people from a design background who have made their way into top management positions.

どんどんそういう流れになって

It's increasingly becoming that way.

本当に経営の方針をどうするかみたいなところまで

Really to the point of deciding on the management policy.

デザイナーが経営者の横について

The designer sits next to the business owner.

それこそもやっとしたから

That's exactly why I was feeling hazy.

概念を具現化したりとか

To embody concepts and such.

そういう手伝いをやってます

I am doing that kind of assistance.

そこでちょっとこれ今日話するね

So I'm going to talk about this a little today.

引用するための本もいっぱい持ってきて

やっぱこうモヤっとした概念を具現化するっていうところ

After all, it's about embodying that vague concept.

これ今私パッと口出てきたんですが

これは杉本宏先生の私大好きな本なんですけど

This is my favorite book by Hiroshi Sugimoto.

ここにですねアートとは技術のことである目には

Here, art is a matter of technique.

見ることのできない精神を物質化するためにって書いてあるんですよ

It says that it's for materializing a spirit that cannot be seen.

今言った経営の横についてるデザインの出身の人たちは

The people who are involved in management and have a background in design are

経営者が語るモヤっとしたものを図表にしたりとか

Turning vague concepts expressed by managers into charts or diagrams.

ビジュアルにコラージュにしたりみたいなことをやってるんですよね

I'm doing things like creating collages visually.

この解釈を拡大解釈すると

If this interpretation is expanded,

それもアートの力なのかなっていう

I guess that's the power of art.

私はそれぐらいのスケールでアートって言葉を捉えてるっていう感じですね

I feel that I grasp the concept of art on that kind of scale.

なんでよくすれ違いますね

Why do we often pass by each other?

違います

That's not right.

アートじゃないとか言われたりとか

I've been told that it's not art or something like that.

私がアートっていう言葉で定義してる範囲がめちゃめちゃ広いので

The range I define with the word "art" is extremely broad.

すごくよくすれ違うんですよ

We often pass each other.

誰とすれ違うんですかその話が

Who are you going to run into with that story?

そうですねいわゆる私は本当に事業開発で

Well, I suppose I am truly in business development.

そのBtoB向けのビジネス

That BtoB business

それが大きな工場向けのソフトウェアで

It is software for large factories.

ビジネス向けのソフトウェアで

For business software.

ビジネス向けのソフトウェアソリューションを売ってたみたいな人たちと一緒に仕事してたりするんですよ

I've been working with people who seem to sell software solutions for businesses.

その人たちはいわゆる一般向けのデザインとかこういった人たちとあんまり仕事したことないですし

Those people haven't really worked with what you would call general audience designs or people like that.

そうなってくるとアートっていうキーワードそれだけで

When it comes to that, the keyword "art" alone...

いやなんか絵でしょみたいな

Well, it's like a picture, you know?

美術館に置いてあるあれがアートであって

What is placed in the museum is art.

もう私たちの知らない遠い世界だっていう感覚でアートを考えてる人が多い

Many people are thinking of art as if it were a distant world that we no longer know.

それもそうですよね

That's true, isn't it?

それもちょっと語弊あるかもしれないですけど

That might be a bit misleading, though.

そういう感覚の方がいて

There are people who have that kind of feeling.

すごくセンスのいい方もいらっしゃるんですよ

There are some people with really great taste.

それこそ資料とかも色使いとか絶妙に上手くて

The materials, including the color scheme, are exceptionally well done.

この方すごいセンスいいなっていう方でもアートっていう言葉は全然知らないし

Even people with great taste, like this person, don’t really know the word "art" at all.

いや使ってますやんって私の思うんですよ

Well, I think you are using it, aren't you?

いやあなた結構アートの力使いこなしてますよって結構思ってたりとかですね

Well, I actually think you’re quite skilled at harnessing the power of art.

言葉の定義が難しいと思うんですけど

I think defining words is difficult.

先生はアーティストって感じだったんですけど

I'm a writer, you know.

And I also do design and stuff.

好きだったし

I liked it.

大学時代も別に

Not particularly during my university days.

最初からアーティストになるつもりは

I never intended to become an artist from the beginning.

なくどちらかというとデザインに興味があって

Rather, I am interested in design.

入ったんですよ

I entered.

と言いながら

教育大学なんですけど

It's an education university.

入ったところがね

Where you entered, you see.

そこは総合的にアートもデザインも

That place encompasses both art and design comprehensively.

教育も学べる

You can learn education as well.

国立大学だったから

Because it was a national university.

そこに行ったんですけど

I went there, but...

もともとデザインにも興味があって

I have always been interested in design.

And

大学卒業して作家活動すると

After graduating from university, I will pursue a career as a writer.

自然とデザイン的な

Natural and design-oriented

思考とアウトプットも

Thinking and output as well.

そういったことになってきて

で今独立をして

そういった作品を

I thought that's what it would create.

デザイナーを目指してたんですよ

I was aiming to become a designer.

本当にアートに

触れてなかったんですよ

I wasn't touching it.

純粋技術を本当に知らなくて

I really don't know pure technology.

An ideal like what Apple would do.

パーフェクトなデザイン

がやっぱそれだけじゃなくて

But that's not all.

企業はマイナーチェンジっていう

Companies refer to it as a minor change.

習慣があるじゃないですか

すごい縛りが激しい中

Amidst incredibly strict bindings.

ちょっと変えたりとか

Just change it a little or something.

ちょっと色変えてみたりちょっと部品変えてみたりして

Trying to change the color a bit and maybe change some parts a little.

テーマをちょっと

Just a little theme.

雰囲気新しくするんですよ

We're going to create a new atmosphere.

買う側も辛いって

It's tough for the buyers too.

思ってるかもしれないんですが

Why can't I buy it?

こんな完成してるものなのになんで

Why is it like this even though it's already complete?

買えないといけないんだそれは

I have to buy it.

生涯の習慣のために買えないといけなかったり

I had to buy it because of a lifelong habit.

してたんです最近でこそ変わってきたんですけどね

It's been like that recently, but it's starting to change.

その中で結構

そのものが1%でも機能があればそれはデザインなんです

全く機能がなくないものっていうのが僕はアートだと思っている
