We have designer Ryo Iwaki from the fashion brand Lazarection here with us. Thank you for coming, Iwaki-san. Please take care of us.

いわきさんは何度ですね今お仕事の関係でリトアニアに来ているということでぜひいろいろ お話を聞いてみたいと思います

Iwaki-san, I understand you are currently in Lithuania for work. I would love to hear all about it.

まず最初にいわきさんの自己紹介をお願いしますはいみなさんは初めまして リザレクションというブランドをさせていただいている

First of all, could you please introduce yourself, Iwaki-san? Yes, everyone, nice to meet you. I am the one behind the brand called Resurrection.

いわきりょうと申しますよろしくお願いしますよろしくお願いしますはい このレザレクションというブランドについてぜひいろいろ教えていただきたいんですけれども

My name is Ryo Iwaki, nice to meet you. Yes, I would like to learn more about this brand called Resurrection.

レザレクションとはどんなブランドですか

What kind of brand is Resurrection?

はいえっと2015年の7年前に設立したブランドな立ち上げたブランドなんですけど 古着をメインに問い扱ってリメイクでハンドメイドでリメイクするブランドになっています

Yes, it’s a brand that was established seven years ago in 2015, primarily dealing with vintage clothing, and it is a brand that focuses on handmade remakes.

すごいですねなかなかハンドメイドでリメイクするというアイディアは他にないと思うんですが かなりオリジナルな

That's amazing! I don't think there are many ideas like remaking things with handmade methods; it's quite original.

そうですね全部一点物でその場その場の一期一会な感じで手に取っていただきたいなという思いで

Well, everything is a one-of-a-kind piece, and I hope people can pick them up with the feeling of "one time, one meeting" in that moment.

作っています素晴らしいですねお店はオンラインショップか 店なんかどこで手に入れそうですねオンラインショップはもちろんのこと

It's wonderful that you are making it! Is the store an online shop or a physical store? It seems like it could be found anywhere, especially online.

えっとリアルな店舗も東京の中目黒の方であの オープンしておりましてそちらがあの不定期のオープンなのでちょっとアポイント制にはなるんです

Well, there is an actual store that has opened in Nakameguro, Tokyo, and it operates irregularly, so it will be by appointment only.

けども そちらの方もインスタグラムなどチェックしていただいたらオープン日書いてるんでよかった

However, if you check Instagram and other platforms, you'll find the opening date written there, which is good.

1店舗だけそうです1店舗だけなんですけども一応世界でもへとカナダ とかには取り扱いはしてるんですけどもあと日本でもあの全部で20店舗ぐらいを

It seems there is only one store; however, it is also available in Canada and other places around the world. In Japan, there are about 20 stores in total.

貸していただいてて でも全部そのいつもあるわけではなくてその都度都度で取り扱っているんで

I'm borrowing, but it's not always available; it's handled on a case-by-case basis.

そのお店に問い合わせていただかないとわからない状況という感じです 出会えたらラッキーというかなりレアなそうですねそうですよね世界でが取り扱っている

It feels like it's a situation where we won't know unless you inquire with that store. It's quite rare, as in, if you can encounter it, you'll be lucky.

とてもグローバルですね

It's very global, isn't it?

そうですね世界展開なんかも考えてらっしゃるんですか 僕個人的にも結構あの日本国外が結構好みでしてで今もリトアニアにいるんですけどそういう

Hmm, are you considering expanding globally? Personally, I quite like places outside of Japan, and I'm currently in Lithuania, but...

感じでニューヨークだったりロンドンだったりいろんなところに行って撮影をしているん ですけどもちろんその海外展開

I'm capturing various places like New York and London with a certain vibe, but of course, there's also the overseas expansion.

本格的にも視野に入れてるんですけどまだあの日本メインで活動という感じですねそう なんですね撮影ってさっきおっしゃってたんですか撮影もやられるんですかそうですねあと

I'm seriously considering it, but it still feels like I'm mainly active in Japan. I see, you mentioned earlier about photography. Are you also doing photography? Yes, that's right.

フォトグラファーとしての活動がファッションデザイナーより前でして ブランドが先ほどお伝えしたと7年前に作ったんですけれども

My work as a photographer came before being a fashion designer, and the brand was created seven years ago, as I mentioned earlier.

フォトグラファーとしては11年ほど させてもらってましてそこからファッションに入ったという感じなので自分のブランドも

I've been a photographer for about 11 years, and from there, I entered into fashion, so I also have my own brand.

自分で撮影と撮影しようという感じでいろんな各国で街の人に声をかけてその場でちょっと 来てもらって撮影をその場でするということをちょくちょく海外させてもらってます

I often travel abroad and ask people in various countries if they would like to take part in a shoot, and we do the filming on the spot.

すごいですね新しいですね その各国のその方々に来てもらってということですよそうですねあの

That's amazing, isn't it? It's new. You're talking about having those people from each country come over, right? Yes, that's right.

モデルの方を雇うのももちろんあの写真として作品としてすごいかっこいいんですけど あの僕個人的にはちょっと街の人に声をかけてストリートで撮ることにそのその方の

Hiring a model is, of course, incredibly cool as a piece of work, but personally, I think it would be interesting to talk to some people on the street and take photos of them instead.

恥ずかしさが見えたりとかそのちょっとリアルな感じをより感じてもらいたいなと思って そういう形になってます

I want you to feel that sense of embarrassment and that slightly realistic feeling even more, so it has taken that form.

いる方のそのままの素の姿というか空気感が伝わるそうですねその人のあの いつも過ごしているルートでその場で撮るっていうリアルさ

It seems that the person's raw presence or atmosphere is conveyed as it is, capturing the reality of the moment in the place where they always spend time.

もうちょっと感じてもらいたいのでそうですねすごいおしゃれですね津波に岩木さんが 撮った写真を手に入れる方法とか見れる方法ってあるんだ

I want you to feel a little more, so yes, it's really stylish. Is there a way to get or see the photos taken by Mr. Iwaki during the tsunami?

はえっとリザレクションのホームページのトップページにニューヨークの人たちみんなの 写真が載ってたりとかロンドンの撮影も乗ってたりするんで

On the top page of the Resurrection homepage, there are pictures of everyone from New York, and there are also photos from the shoot in London.

インスタグラムを見ると結構昔にさかのぼらないといけないので ホームページのトップページ見てもらったらだいぶ

If you check Instagram, you have to go back quite a bit, so if you look at the top page of the homepage, it's quite a lot.

こういう写真を撮るんだっていうのは勝ってもらうかなと思います あのぜひ見てみてください皆さんすごいかっこいいもの黒の写真が多い

I think it would be great to take photos like these. Please take a look; everyone, there are many really cool black photos.

あそうですもの黒へと基本的にその撮影して写真でタッチするんですけどそのれた地の 特徴としてもの黒まで行かずちょっとそのカラーとモノクロの隅だをイメージしてちょっと色彩を

Well, basically I take photos and touch them, but as a characteristic of the area, I imagine a bit of color and monochrome without going all the way to monochrome.

落とした写真が多いです とてもかっこいい写真になってますちなみに写真集とかって返したり

There are many photos that I've dropped. They have turned out to be really cool photos. By the way, do you return photo collections or something like that?

そうですね写真集もえっと初めて作った写真集がその先ほどの街の人に声をかけて そのその場で撮影するっていうものの写真集が初めてでニューヨークであの撮影したん

Well, the first photo book I made was a collection of photos taken on the spot after approaching people in that mentioned city, and it was shot in New York.

ですけども3年ほど前にその写真集が初めて作った 写真集ですねでその後あのブランドとまた別でちょっとフォトグラファーとするの街

However, about three years ago, I first created that photo book, and after that, I worked separately with the brand and a photographer to capture the city.

の 写真を撮ったロンドンだったりパリだったりの写真

Photos taken in London or Paris.

街の写真の写真集だったりも出してますすごいそれもネットのオンラインショップでそう ですオンラインの方で発売してるんでよかった見てみてくださいすごいあの

I also have a photo collection of pictures of the city, which is amazing. It's available in an online shop as well. It's being released online, so please check it out! It's really great.

ブランドの撮影からデザインまで全部お一人で全てさあ制作までもやられるそうですね そういうブランドでなかなか僕の知ってる中でもないのでやっぱそのデザイナーが写真を

It seems that you handle everything from shooting to design all by yourself for the brand. I haven't encountered many brands like that, so I really admire that the designer also takes the photos.

撮ることでその100% 伝えられるっていうのが

By taking a photo, it can be conveyed 100%.

強みですねそしてブランドの名前のレザレクションというとても印象的な名前なんですが なんかそこに込められたコンセプトと言いますか

It's a strength, and the brand name "Resurrection" is really impressive. Is there a concept behind it?

ブランドの音コンセプトっていうのはあるえっとそれがまあ7年前に作ったんですけども えっとリメイクという感じで古着をまた新しい価値を生むという感じで再復興じゃない

The brand's sound concept was created about seven years ago, and it has a sense of remixing, where vintage clothing is given a new value, which feels like a revival rather than a mere remake.

ですけど蘇生という感じでリザレクションという言葉が蘇生っていう意味が持つんです けどその言葉の通りちょっとその

However, the word "resurrection" carries the meaning of revival, and as the word suggests, it's a bit...

メイクして新しい形に生まれ変わらせたいって気持ちがすごく強かったんで リザレクションという名前にしたのとまぁあと自分の名前が岩木涼って言うんですけど

I had a very strong desire to transform into a new form with makeup, so I decided to name it "Resurrection." Also, my name is Ryo Iwaki.

涼っていう感じでRから始まるのでRから始めたいブランド名 したいなと思ったんでちょっとそういう裏のコンセプトもあります

Since it feels refreshing and starts with "R," I thought I would like to have a brand name that begins with "R," so there is also that underlying concept.

なるほど掛け合わせたんですね 涼のRと蘇生の涼

I see, you combined them. Ryo of coolness and Ryo of revival.

はいそして今ですね

Yes, and now.

なんと岩木さんは珍しいリトアニアに来ているということですねとてもねマイナーの国で 日本でもあまり知ってる人はいないと思うんですけれどもなんで岩木さんはリトアニアに来たんですか

So, it seems that Iwaki-san is visiting the rare country of Lithuania. It's quite a minor country, and I don't think many people in Japan know about it. So why did Iwaki-san come to Lithuania?

そうですね今回その7年ほど前に何回も7年前になるんですけどもちょっとブランドを 立ち上げた時にあの知った場所がありまして

That's right. So about seven years ago, when I started the brand, there was a place I got to know.

その十字架のかっていうのがリトアニアにあるんですけれども そこの場所にすごい思い入れが強くて

That cross, you know, is located in Lithuania, and I have a strong emotional attachment to that place.

まあそれを知ったきっかけもこの

Well, the reason I found that out was because of this.

自分が作ったブランドリザレクションっていうその 先ほど蘇生て言いましたけどまぁキリストの復活っていう意味もありまして

The brand I created called "Resurrection" has the meaning of revival that I mentioned earlier, as well as the significance of Christ's resurrection.

その関連で十字架の丘を知ったんですけども

I learned about the Hill of Crosses in that context.

そこにずっと行きたいっていうふうに思ってたんですけど

I’ve always wanted to go there.

僕の中でもう行くことはないだろうぐらいに思ってたんですけど

I thought I probably wouldn't go there again.

今回ちょっとヨーロッパを旅しようということで

This time, we decided to travel a bit in Europe.

ちょっと行けるんじゃないかなと思って

I thought I might be able to go a little.

それに行きたくてちょっとリトアニアに来ましたね

I came to Lithuania a bit because I wanted to go there.

実際に行ったんですか?

Did you actually go?

そうですね実際に行ったんですけども

Well, I actually went there.

どうでした?

How was it?

もうなんか感動と

I'm already feeling something like excitement.

そこの場所に自分が見てた場所に自分が立ってるっていう不思議さで

It's a mystery that I'm standing in the place that I was looking at.

鳥肌もすごく立ちましたし

I also got a huge goosebumps.

時間も忘れて

Forgetting about time.

ずっといたいっていう気持ちが強かったですね

I had a strong feeling that I wanted to stay forever.

いいですね

That's nice.

リトアニア初めて来られて印象はいかがですか?

What is your impression of Lithuania now that you've come here for the first time?

印象はやっぱり東京というか日本に比べて少し寒かったりもするんですけど

The impression is that it was a little colder compared to Japan, especially Tokyo.

空も広くて

The sky is wide.

晴れたらすごく青くて緑も綺麗で

When it's sunny, the blue is incredibly vivid and the green is beautiful as well.

地球を感じれます

You can feel the Earth.

また街に行くと古いものがそのまま残ってたりとか

When you go to the city again, some old things are still left as they are.

自分の目に映るほとんどのものが古いものが多くて

Most of what I see with my own eyes is old.

私個人的にもアンティークだったり古いものが好きなので

Personally, I also like antiques and old things.

すごく好きな街だっていうのが第一印象にありましたね

My first impression was that it's a city I really love.

嬉しいですね

That's great!

確かにビリニュースという街ができて700年なんですけれども

It has indeed been 700 years since the town of Biriyu was established.

世界遺産に旧市街がなっていて

The old town has become a UNESCO World Heritage site.

やっぱり古いものがそのまま残っているというところが

After all, it's the fact that the old things remain as they are.

すごく魅力的だと思うので

I think it's really appealing.

あと先ほどいわきさんが言っていた十字架の丘も

Also, the hill of the cross that Iwaki-san mentioned earlier.

これはまず一番大事ぐらいだと思うんですけど

I think this is the most important thing, to begin with.

料理が結構リトアニア料理食べたんですけど

I ate quite a bit of Lithuanian cuisine.

すごく美味しくて

It's really delicious.

でまぁちょっと結構自分そのご飯に対して

Well, I'm pretty particular about my food.

うるさいまではいかないんですけど

It's not exactly noisy, but...

結構好き嫌いがあったりもするので

I have quite a few likes and dislikes.

こだわりがあるので

Because I have a strong commitment.

それでも全然美味しくて

Even so, it was still delicious.

やっぱそれってすごい生きていく上で大事なので

After all, that's really important for living.

ポテト、ジャガイモが結構有名らしくて

It seems that potatoes are quite famous.

ジャガイモが好きな人はまず問題ないんじゃないかなと思いますね

I think there shouldn't be any problems for those who like potatoes.

ジャガイモは好きな人多いと思うので

I think there are many people who like potatoes.

いやーそうですね

ビーツのスープってあんま食べる機会なかったんで

I haven't had many opportunities to eat beet soup.

想像できなかったんですけど

I couldn't imagine it.

想像できなかったのにすごい懐かしい味がして

I couldn't imagine it, but it has an amazing nostalgic taste.

なんか経験してよかったと思いましたね

I felt that it was good to have experienced that.

全体的にリトアニア料理は優しい味がしますよね

Overall, Lithuanian cuisine has a gentle flavor, doesn't it?

優しいですね

That's kind of you.

あとその物価もそんな高いわけではなくて

Also, the prices aren't that high either.

うん

Yeah.

ビーツのスープとかも6ユーロとかでしたし

The beet soup was around 6 euros as well.

すごいその値段も優しい感じで

That's amazing, the price feels gentle too.

味も優しいし値段も優しいという

It has a gentle flavor and a gentle price as well.

とても優しい国になってます

It has become a very kind country.

そこがかなり重要だと思うので

I think that's quite important.

今回は何カ国ぐらい

How many countries this time?

今回は全部で5カ国なんですけども

This time there are a total of 5 countries.

このリトアニアに来る前はドイツのベルリンに行ってまして

Before coming to Lithuania, I was in Berlin, Germany.

で2カ国目がリトアニアだったんですけど

The second country was Lithuania.

で次にイタリアのミラノベネチアと行って

Next, I'm going to Milan and Venice in Italy.

その後イギリスのロンドンに行きまして

After that, I went to London, England.

でイギリスのロンドンが一番長い期間いるんですけど

I've been in London, England, the longest.

その他は全部5日間ぐらいなんですけど

The rest is about 5 days or so.

で最後に

And finally

パリ

Paris

フランスのパリに行って

Go to Paris, France.

トータル1ヶ月半

A total of one and a half months.

ヨーロッパの旅という感じで

It feels like a trip to Europe.

その都度各国で撮影をしてるわけなんですけど

We are filming in each country each time.

よく旅はされるんですか?

Do you travel often?

そうですね

That's right.

年に1回はちょっとそういう1ヶ月半だったりとか

Once a year, there is a month and a half that feels a bit like that.

長期の

long-term

そうですね

That's right.

一番長いのでニューヨークの3ヶ月っていうのもあったんですけど

The longest was a three-month stay in New York.

その撮影をさせてもらって

Thank you for allowing me to do that shoot.

で今回の撮影で

In this shoot,

ブランドの撮影はもちろんなんですけど

It's of course about brand photography.

ちょっと街の写真を撮って

Just take some pictures of the town.

その写真展っていうのも

That photo exhibition, too...

日本で開催しようかなと思ってまして

I was thinking of holding it in Japan.

前回もパリの写真で

Last time also with the photos of Paris.

写真展を東京の中目黒のお店でさせてもらったんですけど

I had a photo exhibition at a shop in Nakameguro, Tokyo.

今回はちょっといろんな国の写真で

This time, it's a bit of various countries' photos.

エキシビジョンを開催したいなと思ってます

I want to hold an exhibition.

楽しみですね

I'm looking forward to it!

これからの5カ国の写真が見れるわけですよね

So, we'll be able to see photos from these five countries from now on, right?

そうですね

That's right.

僕自身もフィルムカメラで撮ってるんで

I also take photos with a film camera myself.

今回その1933年から69年の

This time, it will be from 1933 to 1969.

はい

Yes

結構フィルムカメラで撮ってるんで

I take a lot of photos with a film camera.

はい

Yes

結構古いクラシックなカメラで撮ってるんですけども

I'm taking pictures with quite an old classic camera.

フィルムなんでちょっと現像するまで

It's film, so I need to develop it a little longer.

どういう写真が撮れてるのか全くわからないので

I have no idea what kind of photo is being taken.

それは日本に帰ってから現像するので

I'll develop it after I return to Japan.

ちょっと僕自身もちょっと現像するまでわからないので

I also won't know until I develop it a bit.

ちょっとドキドキとワクワクを

A little bit of excitement and thrill.

皆さんと一緒の感じで味わえるんじゃないかなと思ってます

I think it can be enjoyed in a way that feels together with everyone.

そして一点物ですもんね写真も全てが

And everything is one-of-a-kind, including the photos.

そうですね

いろんなカメラチェキとかで撮ってたりするので

I've been taking pictures with various camera polaroids and such.

全部が1枚しかない写真なので

Since there is only one photo of everything.

そういう写真で撮ってもらって

I want to have my photo taken like that.

写真だったりチェキだったりも購入できたりするんで

You can also buy photos or cheki (instant photos).
