Hello everyone, I'm Hotan Kan, a Japanese language teacher specializing in Japanese language upbringing and language skills abroad.

Today, I would like to talk about having consistency.

Yeah, when it comes to consistency, there are all sorts of things, but just having consistency alone doesn’t explain anything.

First of all, what I want to talk about is parenting and my interactions with my daughter this time.

So I'd like to go ahead and talk about it.

The other day, I decided to go buy shoes with my daughter because my shoes were broken and worn out.

We decided to go buy some shoes, so we went to buy shoes.

And then, believe it or not, there was a bag with Anna and Elsa on it.

So when they said they wanted Anna and Elsa's bags, I said, "Well then, we're not buying shoes."

You bought that bag instead of buying shoes, huh?

So I bought a bag, and actually, I came here today to buy shoes.

You said you wanted a bag, so I bought a bag, and then I bought shoes, and bought shoes again, didn't I?

I went to a different store because I said I would buy a bag and not buy shoes anymore.

Then, at that different store, there were cute stickers for sale.

Well, that sticker is about 300 yen, you know. Just about 300 yen.

So, it's not that we wouldn't mind buying it for you, but...

But originally, I went out to buy shoes today, and I ended up buying shoes.

The younger daughter wants a bag more than shoes; she wants a bag from the movie "Frozen."

So that means you bought a bag instead of shoes, right?

Yes, as a result of our discussion.

I bought that bag, but at the next store, there was a sticker I wanted that cost 300 yen.

As a parent, I think it's okay to pay 300 yen.

But still, I stopped there, and no, no, I came to buy shoes today.

But since I didn't need shoes, I negotiated for a bag, so I decided to go with the bag.

So, even though I said I wouldn't buy anything more today, I was told I want the sticker.

So, you want a sticker, huh?

But if I'm going to buy that sticker, I'll just return this bag.

Well, I originally came to buy shoes today.

But I don't need shoes; I didn't get asked if I wanted this bag.

So I said I wouldn't buy anything more than that today, so I can't buy this sticker, right?

You said that if I buy this sticker, I have to return this bag.

So then my daughter said that was fine.

That's fine.

Even so, that sticker...

It was a good thing.

You know, I bought that 300 yen sticker.

That's the amount for that snow, which is more than five times.

"Um, I need to go back to the previous store for that circuit board."

It's a story about having returned it.

Well, if I start talking about this...

Well, I think I can hear various voices coming in.

Well, I think there are quite a few people who might think, "It's just a 300 yen sticker, so why not just buy it?"

But deep down, I thought it would be okay to buy something like this.

But what I always keep in mind there is after all...

I personally value something called circuit board very much.

After all, keeping promises and things we decide together is really important.

So I think it's really important to uphold those kinds of things.

This is a presentation.

After all, home Japanese or something like that.

To make it a habit.

Deciding on something and making it a habit.

Even in the process

After all, consistency is...

I think it's really important.

For example, in the case of that house, in the conversation with the Japanese speaker.

I'm going to move a little.

For example, do a little bit every day.

I am deciding on that.

However, there was something irregular that happened.

I can't do it in the morning.

Our family does it in the morning.

When you can't do it in the morning,

At the moment you think "I can't do that,"

We will discuss and decide when to do it.

For example, is school over?

Tonight or tomorrow

Maybe do a little more than usual today.

I will definitely do what I've decided.

That's what it means.

There are no exceptions other than that.

You set it up so that there are no exceptions other than that.

Then

After all, those exceptions and such.

What I originally said

If you allow different things to be okay, then...

例外って

What is an exception?

It keeps increasing endlessly, doesn't it?

Just like the rules.

You set rules, don't you?

Once you decide to do it this way,

As much as possible, exceptions are something that...

It's better not to have it.

Once you create even one exception,

That was okay, so it got a little off.

This is okay too, right?

So what will happen with this?

It's like everything is okay, huh?

It's quite about that habit formation or something like that.

It's about committing to it without fail.

I won't be able to go, huh?

So

Of course, that house is in Japanese.

It's a story like that, but...

Because it is one moment within the flow of life.

Only Japanese at home.

Set the rules firmly.

Other actions

For example, when going shopping.

Like when going out to play or something.

Even in daily life

In daily life,

It's like doing whatever you want.

Make everything okay.

Just that in this way.

It's also about making a firm decision.

It's quite difficult.

It's quite difficult.

Ultimately, the communication between that parent and child, or...

After some back and forth.

Because it becomes a habit.

After all, it can't be helped but to naturally...

In the context of parent-child relationships.

Daily base

In the flow of daily life.

After all, once you've made a decision...

The things that we have properly discussed and decided on are...

Unless there is something particularly significant.

I will do it like that.

What I mean is

It's consistency, isn't it?

In the daily life of such days.

It is precisely because there is consistency.

After all, that house is Japanese.

You mean something like habits.

"This is definitely something I will do."

It becomes easier to tackle.

You are thinking, aren't you?

私は

I am.

なので

So.

I made it a little wider.

In order to make practicing Japanese at home a habit.

Practice Japanese at home for 10 minutes every day.

I'll do it for 15 minutes.

In order to make that time.

As I thought, that...

In front of you.

It's a daily interaction, isn't it?

For example, today I'm going to buy this.

If I said I was going just to buy this...

First, I will only buy that on that day.

Well then, I'm going to go out and have some fun today.

If there is something fun

If you really don't want to go, let's just buy it.

If it's that kind of day, then I'll buy it.

I can buy two or three if I want.

Deciding to move forward in that way is

It makes it easier for both of us, right?

Since I've decided that today, it's like this, right?

Today is a day to play freely.

Buy a toy.

You said you would buy something nice if you found it today.

For example, I think it's okay to decide there.

Two or three.

If you see something cute that you want today

You can buy up to three.

I decided to go out after all.

Even when I go to the supermarket.

Today it's just one piece of candy.

Today, I've decided that I can have up to three snacks.

It turns out I will enter after all.

In that way

It looks like I'm stiff, right?

It looks like it's stiffening up, doesn't it?

It's not like I'm tying you up or anything.

In that way, you know.

By deciding in that way

It's easy for both of us.

It reduces stress.

Things that have been decided in that way.

I will definitely carry it out that way.

Mutually, huh?

As you understand and come to agree with it,

Basically, the things that were decided are...

It's about protecting.

To be habituated

That's also a mindset, after all.

Because it will be set.

Because it is becoming a mindset.

The more you continue that, the more...

It becomes easier to make various things habitual.

It will become easier to continue.

It becomes easier to continue, doesn't it?

So, you see...

Just listening to this story...

You might think it's a bit harsh, but...

でもね

But you know,

これはね

This is it.

That's quite enough.

Mom's body

ママも

Mom too

It becomes easier to stand up.

I think so too.

In the end, you know.

If we keep making various decisions on the spot...

The other day was good, but...

Why not?

I can't today.

That means...

I can't help but think that way.

So.

It was good the other day, though.

"Why is it not okay today?"

This is really hard to respond to.

It's very difficult to respond.

Hey.

そう

Yes.

But still, I think it's best to decide that from the start.

Today we're going to do it this way.

This is how it should be, right?

Let's talk and decide together.

To tackle or address something.

Going or something.

To see someone's face.

When you make a decision, you see,

It's easy to see.

はい

Yes

So, what I'm saying is...

After all, I am a person who has that consistency.

What men are like.

I think it's very important.

If you have consistency.

It's all about building trust with the children, after all.

I think it can be easily built.

It means sticking to what you decided once.

In the end, there are also contradictions from a child's perspective.

And then, there's something else...

It's different from what I was wrapping.

We were supposed to have decided on this once.

You start to lose the feeling of thinking like that.

As for us too

Even if there are times when I feel a bit lost

No, no, that's not it.

I decided on one for today.

No, no, I want to buy it for you, but...

No, no, that's not it.

I came to buy shoes today.

In that way

As I thought, this is how it is.

Because there's a line.

It's because that rule exists.

Go back there.

When you're unsure, it's easier to make a decision, isn't it?

We also.

In my heart.

Because it's easy to decide.

No matter how you think about it.

That still maintains consistency.

Originally decided things.

What was said.

To uphold that is...

I think it's something very important.

That was the story.

でもね

But you know.

You know, like…

It's a little cheap, you know.

I wonder if it's okay to buy those cute things.

I think about wanting to buy it for you.

Right?

But it's okay.

It's okay to come back on a different day.

On a different day.

If there's something cute today.

Something like "Let's try buying it."

You can buy up to three toys.

Saying things like that.

It's fine to go to the same store again, or something like that.

The only important thing is

As I thought, what I decided that day is

It means to protect that day, right?

Even if it's not that day.

Once you decide on something

As expected, it's consistently tough.

It's consistency, isn't it?

That was the story.

How was it?

You have to be conscious of it.

I've been quite conscious of this for a long time.

The concept of consistency.

なので

So

Great consistency

In a familiar place

まあ

Well.

It's about visiting home every day, isn't it?

I wake up in the morning and eat breakfast.

The fact that I do it every day and

Reading picture books before bedtime.

I should stick with this after all.

It’s a place.

No matter what you can't do.

I will do the nighttime storytelling.

It's fine if the visit to the house is just for 5 or 10 minutes.

For now, let's do it every day.

These two are indeed...

The consistency of my light-hearted Japanese parenting, etc.

First, it's based on that.

であとは

And then…

I will keep the promise I made to do everything after all.

That's right.

What I said is indeed true when you take the course.

No matter how small it is.

I’m really conscious about interacting in that way.

That is the situation.

How was everyone?

というか

I mean, / Or rather, / To put it another way,

How is it?

Thank you for listening until the end today as well.
