実は1週間前の9月10日に神戸市東名田区にお店をオープンしました

Actually, we opened a store in Higashinada Ward, Kobe City on September 10, a week ago.

テーマは時を味わう和の習いに触れるといたしまして

The theme is to experience the taste of time through engaging with traditional Japanese practices.

和菓子の喫茶、販売、それから和の暮らしや文化にまつわるワークショップなどを展開するお店です

It is a shop that offers a tea room for traditional Japanese sweets, sales, and workshops related to Japanese lifestyle and culture.

このポッドキャストを始めた時にはまだ物件も決まっていなかったんですけれども

When we started this podcast, we had not yet decided on a property.

7月末にちょうどいい一軒家が見つかりまして

I found a perfect house at the end of July.

せっかくなら初めて神戸に縁ができた9月10日に開こうと思いまして

I thought it would be nice to hold it on September 10th, since it's the first time I've had a connection to Kobe.

大急ぎで準備をして一気にオープンにこぎつけたという状態です

まずは喫茶から始めた時にお店を開けました

うさぎをモチーフにしたものが多く見られます

今回はこのうさぎをピックアップしてお話しいたします

実際のうさぎさんは

白や茶色黒など

White, brown, black, and so on.

いろんな毛色をしています

古い逸話に出てくるうさぎは

The rabbit that appears in old anecdotes is

白いうさぎとして描かれていますよね

It is depicted as a white rabbit, isn't it?

お菓子でも常用まんじゅうや

I suppose it means something like as white as a pearl.

最初から白い毛なのではなくて

It's not that it has been white fur from the beginning.

うさぎは千年生きることができて

Rabbits can live for a thousand years.

そのうち500年修行することで

By training for 500 years.

毛が白くなると

When the hair turns white.

中国では考えられていますが

It is considered in China, but...

そのうち500年生きることを考えられていたんだそうです

It seems that they were thinking about living for 500 years.

なので玉と玉うさぎは長寿であり

Therefore, Tama and Tama Usagi are long-lived.

修行を収めたおめでたいモチーフと

今お店の小さな床の間に飾っている

白いうさぎが描かれていまして

そこの脇には玉と千年の寿という一文が入っています

現実のうさぎさんは寿命が20年くらいだそうですが

中国の言い伝えでは千年ということで

不老長寿の女神

Goddess of Eternal Youth and Longevity

西欧母に付き添っている動物の一つとされています

月にはうさぎが住んでいて

There is a rabbit living on the moon.

キネとウスで餅つきをしているというのは

It is said that they are making rice cakes with Kine and Ushi.

よく知られた話ですが

It's a well-known story, but...

実はついているのは

餅ではなく西欧母の不老不死の薬だそうです

It is said to be the elixir of immortality from Western mothers, not rice cakes.

月とうさぎの組み合わせは

The combination of the moon and the rabbit.

紀元前からあるそうですが

うさぎさんの生態として多産

As for the ecology of rabbits, they are highly fertile.

子供をたくさん産むという特徴と関係があるようです

It seems to be related to the characteristic of having many children.

うさぎの妊娠出産期間というのは

The gestation and birth period of rabbits is

ちょうど1ヶ月くらいというのも

月の満ち欠けと重ねられた理由かもしれませんが

月が欠けるのは

うさぎよりも前から月に住んでいた

ヒキガエルが月を食べてしまうから

そこに多産のうさぎが加わることでまた満ちていく

そういえば京都の岩倉にあります

実装院門石というお寺にお邪魔した時に

When I visited the temple called Jissouin Monseki

お庭にうさぎの石像がありました

There was a stone statue of a rabbit in the garden.

そのすぐ脇に一見すると何かがわからない

Next to that, at first glance, it's hard to tell what it is.

石の塊があったんですけども

There was a lump of stone.

よくよく見るともしかしてこれはカエルさんかなと思うような形をしていました

Upon closer inspection, it seemed that this might actually be shaped like a frog.

実際どうなのかなというのをお伺いしないで帰ってきたのをちょっと後悔しております

I'm a bit regretful that I came back without asking about how it actually is.

さてお月見は陰暦9月13日の13夜も見逃せません
