Good morning, this is Yuuki.

I'm working as an emergency responder and running around energetically every day.

Well then, I would like to proceed with the recording of the momentous 508th episode of Stand FM in Kyoto today.

Today's theme, right?

Trying hard is running away.

Commit to the numbers.

I would like to talk about a theme like this.

Making an effort is a form of逃げる (escaping).

What is it?

Why is that?

I think that's how it will be.

I wonder if I'm escaping with the word "doing my best."

Well, it's more like an experience, you know.

I would like to talk about it because there was an opportunity like that.

I listen to a radio app called Voicy every day.

There is a person named Mitsuhiro Ueyama.

You are a citizen runner from Kobe, right?

With Ueyama Sorada.

Like a three-legged race for short videos on Instagram, you know?

It's pretty popular on YouTube.

I have about 80,000 followers on Instagram.

I was listening to Ueyama-san's Voicey, and there was this phrase.

"To say 'do your best' is to run away; let's commit to the numbers."

Well, after hearing this, I really felt like I grasped the truth.

I really felt my heart skip a beat, you know?

Well, I'm really working hard on my running, but...

What does it mean to do your best?

In the first place, what does it mean to try hard?

What does it mean to work hard at running?

Aren't you running away anymore?

No, I'm escaping.

I'm running away.

What are you trying your best at?

What will you focus on during today's run?

It's good if you get sweat and start feeling good, you know?

I'm running to drink alcohol.

Of course, that's fine.

Well, I'm talking about the Fukuoka International Marathon.

You are at the pinnacle of amateur runners.

Even for a citizen runner, aiming for about 2 hours and 35 minutes is killer.

There is a Deren tournament.

Towards there.

What are you going to work hard on today?

I run at an average pace of 4 minutes and 30 seconds per kilometer.

I will run at an average pace of 4 minutes per kilometer, you know.

How many kilometers do you run at a pace of 4 minutes per kilometer?

That's how it is, right?

It's a 400-meter interval workout.

How many seconds will it take?

So, how many seconds of rest do you take?

Well, to that extent, yes.

Only by committing to the numbers.

I think I can say I did my best.

In the first place, committing to numbers is...

I think you'll do your best.

It's natural to commit to the numbers.

As a result, it may seem like I'm doing my best from a distance.

It's just that you can see it.

They are no longer trying their best with that.

It's only natural, isn't it?

It seems like something like that about Ueyama-san.

I'm listening to Boisy.

It's like I suddenly became aware of it.

Yeah, I really felt like I hit the nail on the head.

So, from now on...

The entry for the Marugame Half has just started.

I entered right away yesterday.

This is also categorized as General B.

I entered.

Last year's time was 1 hour and 18 minutes.

But this year, I set my target time to 1 hour and 16 minutes.

To cut this here.

How much is the average? Three minutes.

I haven't calculated it precisely yet, but...

I probably won’t run an average of under 3 minutes and 40 seconds.

Well, it's probably not good.

But for that reason, February 2nd, you know?

Since it's the Marugame Half, let's calculate it backwards.

So far, I've been working on building my legs with a monthly target of around 400.

It'll be a little cooler soon.

Seriously doing intervals and pace runs.

Keep increasing your pace!

Marathon pace, huh?

An average of 3 minutes and 48 seconds.

An average of around 3 minutes and 38 seconds, you know?

Well, you know, at that pace, like 5 kilometers or 10 kilometers.

I'm thinking about practicing running.

Well, it was the Kagawa Marugame International Half Marathon, I think.

The official name, right?

This is considered a pretty fast race.

It's a flat course.

It's a flat course that is recognized nationally and has world records too.

We have also seen records being set in Japan.

For the local tournament here.

It's not about trying hard.

Every day, I commit to these numbers.

I thought I would start building on that.

I'll summarize it at the end.

To try hard is to run away.

It's just an excuse, you know.

You have to do your best.

The numbers right in front of me.

Set numerical goals like that.

Let's build it up bit by bit.

That was the story.
