Everyone, when you hear "Mid-Autumn Festival,"

What image comes to mind?

In Japan, it would be things like pampas grass, tsukimi dango (rice dumplings), and rabbits, I suppose.

Well, what about in Taiwan?

Mooncakes, sharing, and barbecues, perhaps?

There are various theories about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

I introduced it in detail in the recent cultural presentation about Taiwan.

To briefly introduce...

Because there was a relationship between the movement of the moon and the growth cycle of crops.

Because I held the moon in very high regard.

Around this time, which is just the harvest season.

Gratitude for a good harvest to the moon and the land.

It is said to have originated from wishing for the happiness of the family.

And that is the growth cycle within Japan's agricultural society.

And that has also been conveyed to Japan.

The pampas grass that is adorned during the Mid-Autumn Festival in Japan is

It is said that they began to decorate it resembling rice ears.

There is a theory that the tsukimi dango is modeled after the full moon.

It was once an autumn harvest.

It was common to prepare ingredients such as taro and sweet potatoes.

There is also a theory that it resembles something.

And the Mid-Autumn Festival, the full moon night.

別名

Even though it's called "Imo Meigetsu" (Sweet Potato Full Moon)...

They were offering thanks for the harvest and prayers for a bountiful crop.

It is derived from that.

So, why do they say "Mid-Autumn Festival" in Taiwan?

Moon phase share barbecue?

It's almost unrelated to the agriculture it originated from.

I can't help but think that way.

The Mid-Autumn Festival in Taiwan, in addition to its original origins,

The current Mid-Autumn Festival is a result of various origins coming together.
