Daddy, Thomas Daddy.

I became a dad.

We finally had a child.

Thomas Junior

I was born.

Congratulations!

Thank you.

すごい

Amazing!

It has been 10 years since we got married.

First child in ten years.

すごい

Amazing

That will be a hope for the world.

That's right.

No, no, no, really.

Wow, I didn’t think it would be that cute!

Cute?

はい

Yes

おー

Oh!

When I was born, I looked kind of like a little monkey.

I was worried if that was going to be okay, but many people felt the same way.

As days go by

Somehow, your face is becoming clearer.

Become human.

I'm thinking that it's cute.

Are you taking pictures?

The photo, it's not Thomas the photographer's main job, is it?

But I don’t really take photos in my private life.

Even if I have a child, I probably won't take any pictures, I was telling those around me.

You take quite a few photos, don't you?

I'm going to take a picture, right?

I take a lot of photos.

I'll take my camera with me.

I see, this is it.

意外と

Surprisingly

With the camera and the smartphone, I can't keep up with my period.

No, it's already happening.

But you see, newborns are only about 1 or 2 months old.

This period is already long, and then after that, the baby stage is long as well.

Newborns are really...

Huh, is it going to change? From a newborn to a baby?

It changes, it changes, completely different.

No, it's completely different.

I don't remember what the difference is anymore.

Did you forget?

I forgot, but that's not it.

Completely different, newborn.

Are you going to get a little more poyo poyo?

Well, eventually.

"You've started to gain some meat."

Well, I think it depends on the child's development.

You know, newborns and babies are really different.

Because it keeps changing rapidly.

Oh, is that so?

そう

Yes.

I'm looking forward to it!

"Somehow, my younger daughter..."

I've appeared on an NHK parenting program called "Sukusuku."

I somehow applied and ended up winning.

I came out, but...

I'm going to experiment with that, for kids.

That teacher is there.

Yes, yes.

That teacher is here.

Somehow, it's about how small children grasp objects by age.

へー

Oh, really?

It's more like an experiment than a test.

I did it, but when I was a baby.

はい

Yes

Well, my child is probably about 3 or 2 years old.

Because the way of grasping things is different.

へー

Oh really?

That baby quickly grabs onto things, right?

Ah, I'll hold it.

That's right, the way to hold it is different too.

There are various reactions.

面白

Interesting.

そう

That's right.

気になる

I'm curious.

Also, well, oh, I could talk about this for like an hour without stopping.

The purpose of the program will change.

I'm already a grandma now.

That's hilarious!

Grandma

It's Eri-chan's mom!

Thank you, Eririn Mama.

Just a moment.

Ah, it's Erin Grandma!

Not Mama, Grandma.

あのー

Um...

After the recording of the show, I'm thinking of asking various questions during the meeting.

Barber, thank you, yes.

I hope those listeners will also send their congratulations messages.

I would be happy if you could send it to Eririn's LINE.

I will properly watch Thomas, so thank you in advance.

That being said, we have received a consultation today, so I would like to ask for your response to the inquiry.

It is here today.

I'm not good at talking to people I've just met.

I blanked out and can't remember what I'm supposed to say.

I wonder what I should say to start a conversation, but I can't think of any topics.

Please give me advice on how to start a conversation.

ということで

So, that's it.

Yes, I'm not really that good at this either.

I think it depends on the situation in which I talk to this person for the first time.

I'm really not good at talking, whether it's in a one-on-one situation or speaking in front of a large group.

"I'm not good in a crowd, but I can manage to talk one-on-one."

Of course, bosses and subordinates, etc.

はい

Yes

Depending on the business partner or the nature of the relationship, I can talk if we're friends, but when it comes to work, I can't speak.

Conversely, if I think of it as work or as sales, I can talk about it.

On the contrary, it seems possible.

I can't talk about it in private or something.

I think it really depends on the person, as the situation for talking to someone for the first time is different.

First, I need to consider whether I really struggle with all these people.

うん

Yeah.

I would like you to ask yourself a little.

For example, it's our first meeting, but...

It's just like how the parents of the baby that was just born are now.

I think there are quite a few people who can continue the conversation.

That's true.

For example, it’s like being born on the same day in the same hospital.

I still exchange New Year's cards even now.

That's right.

It's just that we were born on the same day in the same ward.

Because that alone creates a sense of solidarity.

They are a couple more than 10 years younger.

I went over to play at their house.

We've become pretty close, haven't we?

So it's not that I'm particularly good at talking to people I've just met.

Because there is a common language.

The more intense the common language, the easier it is to communicate, right?

In that sense, it's nice to meet you for the first time.

Having similar hobbies, for example.

Or perhaps we work together.

We live in the same place.

It's not so much about a favorite sport, but about having the same team.

Having some sort of common language makes it easier to talk, doesn't it?

So, what was I supposed to talk about again?

It's because I feel like I have to talk.

I was wondering if there was something we had in common.

Ask the other person various questions.

When I asked,

You might be able to see similar hobbies or thoughts, right?

Certainly, certainly.

There's no point in talking about the weather.

It's raining today, isn't it?

It's raining, isn't it?

I don't like it.

It ends with just "I don't like it," huh?

Not spreading.

The weather certainly doesn't spread out.

It's like one of those moments in a mansion.

A conversation for just greetings is fine, but...

It feels like I have to say something after this.

Isn't it difficult if you just do it?

Well, it depends on the nature of that relationship.

For example, if it's about work...

What kind of work do you do?

I'll have them talk over there.

I feel like I'm doing this kind of thing and that kind of thing.

When I'm talking about being a photographer like this and that...

There is also a possibility that they might back off.

That's right.

There are also people who are good at listening.

The other person may not necessarily be good at conversation.

確かに

Certainly.

So, what kind of work do you usually do?

Where are you coming from today?

When I try asking like this...

It means that there is a possibility that a topic the other person wants to talk about will come up.

Rather than talking about the topics I want to discuss,

I wonder what topics they can talk about.

I see.

It feels like I'm going to explore that.

What becomes important at that time is

It's fiction.

I see.

For example, when asked what his job is, Thomas said...

I'm taking photos and talking on a podcast.

I see.

Yes, that's right.

It feels like the end.

No, no, no, no, no!

Isn't it something like that?

Now that an uncomfortable gap has formed.

That's right, that's right, that's right!

In that case, I'll go again.

What kind of work does Thomas do?

I am taking pictures and talking on a podcast.

I talk on photos and podcasts.

What is a podcast?

A podcast is like an audio internet radio.

Internet radio

A radio program on the internet.

Is it called a radio?

Speaking of the radio, it's the radio.

That's amazing!

Thank you.

I can do such a thing.

Are you also taking pictures?

I actually take pictures too.

What kind of photos do you take?

I'm more skilled at taking pictures of people.

What kind of person do you take photos of?

Such as entrepreneurs.

I also take pictures of models.

モデル

Model

すごい

Amazing

That's right.

Are you taking a picture?

Can you see the photo?

Shall we try looking for some photos?

Thank you.

How about me?

Wow, that's amazing!

I just said, "What is it?"

確かに

Certainly.

It's like I can talk comfortably.

You just want to brag more and more, don't you?

That's right.

How does the first one look?

I see.

I wonder why I asked.

That makes sense, doesn't it?

So it's not coaching in this first meeting here.

It's like joking around or something.

Like digging deeper.

What on earth is the purpose?

What kind of things are important?

This is a bit scary all of a sudden.

Isn't it scary?

There's no need to ask such things.

I think it's good to ask that as the trust develops.

Nice to meet you, first of all.

If we talk about it at the stage of listening to each story...

About work and where you live?

A relatively innocuous theme.

That's why I'm asking.

The reaction at that time is important, isn't it?

I see.

Why is that kind of thing important?

How about something like that?

I didn't think about the reaction.

Rather than digging deeper into that

Like "hee ho."

興味

Interest

I am interested.

Something like that, even if it’s just acting.

But I wonder what this person is doing exactly.

Listen to the story with that kind of interest and curiosity.

Or act that way.

反応する

React.

This is what I mean by meeting someone for the first time.

After all, it becomes very important, doesn't it?

In that case

I will ask you various questions.

The questions aren't really that significant.

Yeah, that's true.

That's right.

That's right.

But this means Thomas is better.

If you feel that this person is easy to talk to,

With a tight grip.

There’s also the possibility that they might bring up a conversation from that point onward.

まあね

Well, you know.

I was talking for a long time, and somehow...

It would be like I'm the only one talking, right?

That's right.

I want to listen, or something like that.

People who love themselves keep talking all the time.

Well, that's fine then.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

It feels like I'm glad you talked to me.

It's okay if the other person keeps talking.

It's fine if you bring up the topic.

I see.

It will be in a state where it can go either way.

Yeah, that's for sure.

When meeting for the first time

Well, I don't mind anything.

Suddenly asking about your hobbies...

It might turn out to be something like, "Nothing in particular."

That's right, isn't it?

Now I too.

That's a reaction too, huh?

Yeah, I also look for things like that.

I can't seem to find a hobby.

うん

Yeah.

Somehow up to now

Have you tried doing this before?

Well, there are one or two, after all.

Certainly, certainly.

Even if it ends halfway through

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

いいか

Got it.

I wonder how it can continue without that.

Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.

So, within the soft course...

It might lead to a broader conversation.

Indeed, if that's the case, let's keep talking.

うん

Yeah.

Such as work or hobbies.

First, I want to hear about that kind of thing.

うん

Yeah.

であとは

Then, what's next?

Well, it depends on the situation, maybe university or something.

Clubs and activities I've been involved in so far.

Hmm, hmm, hmm.

Well, how about asking something like this?

It's fine if you want to talk about your past jobs.

うん

Yeah.

After asking something like that...

うん

Yeah.

It's a reaction to hearing that.

I see.

Anyway, just react.

Moreover, it's not just words anymore.

Gesture

Ah, gestures and movements.

Gestures and movements

うん

Yeah.

"Now you scowl and listen to what I'm saying."

It's different from listening with a smile.

はい

Yes

Nodding, for example.

Ah, is that so? That's amazing! *claps hands*

Well, there's that too.

I think there are some people who can and cannot handle that kind of character.

Yes, yes.

But at least a round of applause.

確かに

Certainly.

"Like that" or "for example."

うん

Yeah.

It also depends on whether it can be done by both men and women.

Shaking hands and such.

Ah, I see.

Like, similar to.

あの

Um...

I've been told that it's a hurdle for a man to ask a woman for a handshake.

はい

Yes

Well, depending on the situation, a handshake might be difficult.

If possible, I think a handshake would be fine too.

I wonder if that's what you call that kind of reaction?

うん

Yeah.

,

,

うん

Yeah.

It's very important.

Also, if we're talking in real life...

はい

Yes

If possible, it would be preferable to be positioned sideways or at an angle.

Instead of facing each other.

That's right.

Try lining up a little or at an angle.

That's right, that's right, that's right, that's right.

It's easier for both of us to talk that way.

Well, Japanese people are often told to look into each other's eyes when speaking.

Actually, talking while making eye contact is quite difficult, you know.

Yes, yes, yes, yes.

Actually, even in coaching...

It seems like you’re looking at me while talking, but you’re not looking into my eyes at all.

Is that so?

Well, I’ll take a look.

Rather than seeing, it's when the other person is thinking.

You focus your gaze in the direction you are thinking.

Ah, I see.

It's about looking in the same direction.

That's right.

For example, to Thomas.

Ah, podcast and photos.

What kind of things do you do on a podcast?

When I heard that,

Just a moment ago, I ended up looking up again.

"But I can definitely see it."

Like this

For a moment, I also look up like this.

I see.

でまた

So again.

Well, look this way.

I make eye contact.

This is quite a technique, actually.

If you take a look together at the method the other person is facing...

That's about it.

It really feels like the sense of empathy increases significantly.

すげー

Awesome!

そう

Yes.

That's amazing!

That's right.

There are a lot of different techniques.

When this person does it,

Oh, today I heard a really good story.

Thank you.

I'll ask you again from now on.

It's like that.

It finishes off nicely.

I see, I see.

すご

Amazing!

So, if you keep repeating this...

Well, this person seeking advice...

If I do it this way in my own way...

I can talk to someone for the first time!

I think the sense of being not good at it will fade away.

I see.

Well, the story I just mentioned is...

Even at the workplace

Even if we are friends.

There is some fluctuation.

Even if they are older people.

Well, it's mostly okay.

No problem.

Even for people on the core table, this should generally work.

本当に

Really.

Are you okay with the core table?

It's not exactly a core table.

Um, if you could introduce me to them, please.

When you mention the core table...

It's that, but...

Like a really big athlete

Really looks scary at first glance.

Like a demon sergeant.

We've met before.

Not at all a demon sergeant, though.

It's already tough.

The appearance, you know.

Appearance

I was startled for a moment.

Hello.

Well, that sport has connections.

It's like…

It's nice to meet you and this is how it goes.

Oh, I see! That's amazing!

How are you managing to bring that team together?

I was listening intently.

"Today, I ended up talking a lot."

Even though it's the core table...

Yes, yes, yes, thank you for that.

できますね

I can do it.

I can easily talk for about an hour.

Oh, I see.

Wow, I just heard something really great!

はい

Yes

Well, something like this, definitely.

I hope you can give it a try.

Like that reaction, you know?

はい

Yes

It's really a problem that goes beyond coaching itself, isn't it?

That's amazing! I really learned a lot.

Please give it a try.

Let the other person talk.

Please talk.

Reaction for that purpose.

はい

Yes.

Wow, amazing!

Could you make a list of questions or something?

I thought that was the kind of conversation we were having.

Reaction

You can make it if you want.

I can't get into the other person's topic, you know.

That's certainly true.

What should I ask next again?

It's exactly the same as being completely blank about what to say.

That's true, isn't it?

Let's look at the other person.

Let's talk while looking at each other, everyone.

Let's do our best with the reactions!

Let's practice our reactions.

So, how was it?

I listened to today's broadcast.

Among everyone.

Moreover, there were further questions and doubts that arose.

In my case, it's like this.

What should I do?

I think you have something to discuss.

Certainly!
